So, I haven't played skyrim for ages, so forgot close to everything about mods and what to have what to avoid. I wan't your top pick of mods that's a must to have. Currently want texture and ui mods, and something that gives me an alternate start. Perhaps something that makes the crafting system worth it's while. As well as encouraging exploring and poking your nose where it doesn't belong. (I don't mind if there us adult stuff in there as well. Should be fairly lore friendly thought)

Merge patch how? (I might be declared a moron?)
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
In case someone actually reads this thread, here is a guy that collected the correct python version needed for both wrye flash/wrye flash nv. Helped me a lot! http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/16881 -
Fallout instable more then usual.
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
This is why I use windows 7. This is why I use windows 7. I'm almost tempted to revert to windows 7, but it's so not worth the hassle only so I can play some "old" games. Most games I play actually work quite well with windows 8, and I just love the features that came with windows 8. A perfectly synchronized calender with my htc with no hassle or other software. Worth gold for me. And a few other very lovely features. But if I get spare money at the end of the month I will get a second ssd and make a virtual install of windows 7. -
So ever since I installed fallout 3 on windows 8 I have had issues with it. And quite a few other games, not sure why to be honest. The problems I have so far, falloutlauncher won't run so can't generate the needed *.ini files properly. (solved by changing in falloutNV's ini files) So far fallout3 will run but quit the game and it hang indefinitely, and it seems at times when choosing to save it will randomly hang indefinitely. I have installed a few mods, haven't tested it extensively by playing yet. Could anyone hazard a guess on how to figure out why fallout doesn't like quitting? Doesn't matter if I open console type qqq, or use escape quit game. I use windows 8 64bit if that helps.

How to add a perk to another perk?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I will see if I can find a way to get what I want would also like to add some minor equipment. Anyone can recommend a few good video tutorials? And as for event trigger, leaving docs house//getting the pipboy would be a suitable trigger. I could in theory use the scripts from the mod I stole this idea from, but that would leave me with little understanding on what goes on. I think I might have figured it out at last. Thanks Gribbleshnibit8 -
So I'm trying quite hard to figure out how to get my "trait" to also reward the perk Mad Bomber. I haven't quite managed to figure out how to do that or find any information that is relevant to do it. Would I be forced to work with scripts to do it or is there some other way?

So I'm finally trying to make my own mod, and aim to create my own version of http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/37042. But I wonder where I can find icons to use without having to create my own, and without violating any property rights and so on. Anyone willing to help me find a few suitable icons? Or perhaps someone wouldn't mind making some?

is this system decent enough?
Zorkel replied to F4D1NG3CH03S's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
He did write 500 GB hard drive with 7200 rpm so clearly not a ssd. :) But on a side note, I have a 120gb ssd and have my os system on it, and only install the games I currently play on that partition like crysis 3, ME3. user files has been moved to my 500gb regular drive which is where I installed steam, and run steam games under that library. If I had a fortune I would have bought a 500gb ssd or perhaps 2 160-200gb drives. :) -
The bug collection, why not share your weird odd bugs?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Perhaps, but wouldn't explain how I ended up with 2 copies of his weapons. :) He might of course made 2 in case he lost one to the lobotomized patients or in case he got lobotomized himself... -
So I'm sure all of you have a few cases of odd, weird bugs, some disastrous, or a case that would make you wonder how in hell did that happen? I know I have had a few of them. The last note worthy one that I would say fits the bill, Elijah's jury-rigged Tesla cannon was somehow dispensed in a Sunset Sarsaparilla vendor machine. Somehow managed to pick up 2 versions of Elijah's advanced LAER, not sure how on earth that happened. I'm still waiting for my weird bug where mr-deathclaw will out of the blue attack me and then mysteriously teleport to the strip and kill everything in sight. :D Or the nice innocent lady will transform into a raving ghoul and plant a live mininuke in my pants just for the fun of it. So share your weird bugs and occasions. :D

Anyone played with the Robot Race mod?
Zorkel replied to Trickai's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I have played with it, and if you make some small edits or a new small plugin that removes the different food healths and bonuses it's fairly balanced. It's definitely different for sure, other perks bonuses and quite cool. But I would recommend to make a normal person and then add the robot perk to your character. There is issues with the robot body that makes it annoying, but I can live with it. (the head is worn as a helmet, there can be instances when your headless looks quite weird.) If you wear a power helmet and remove it you have no head :P Otherwise in hardcore mode you have recipes that allow you to make food and energy that restores thirst and sleep. I would say it's balanced, there is a plugin that removes chem benefits so you can't use jet, psycho medex or mentats. As for healing I have so far been drowning in health packs and making robotic doctorbags is quite easy as well. But then I changed around in project nevada so I get close to 0 food, chems and a lot more junk (considering I need it for repairkits, armorkits, food, stimpacks, doctobags) Of course you can choose to not use the plugin that removes the benefits of chems. Your choice, give it a go for sure. :) Hope this helped you. :) -
For some reason the CZ57 Avenger won't remove the ammo pack when I unequip it. The regular minigun works just fine, and I have no idea why that gun would cause this. a link that displays the issue at hand. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/images/45879/ I have no idea what causes it or how, when or why. It's specifically with the CZ57 Avenger for some reason. I don't quite know why this gun would cause this issue. If you have an inkling of idea as of what's happening I would be delighted to get your thoughts on it. Well, the problem I'm beyond useless working with the GECK, I can't even manage doing the simplest thing with it. Well I know how to break a plugin and the game, so I have accepted the fact that me and the GECK is not very good friends. :)

Currently doing a lonesome road play through and I'm far below the recommended level (around level 10) And I have gotten to the point where I feel forced to stun ed-e before a fight or he will charge any mob leaving any remote chance of sneak attacks. No matter what I tell him to do he ignores it and charge ahead. Is there any mod that will allow me to reduce any potential follower to a lobotomized pack brahmin? That is no matter what happens they will not engage in combat, I see a lot of mods that adds tons of companions but nothing that tends to do what I want them to do. Cheers.

FO3 and windows 8 how to get it to work?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Nope nothing taxing really, use the same apps in the background with fallout new vegas running quite fine with fps around 50-60 (capped at 60 by gamecompanion v1.3, it makes a fake fullscreen) And fnv runs very smoothly, only dislikes loading saved games kinda feels it has to protest and crash. But I don't really complain with that, seems it's a plague bug and can't be fixed. Programs running: Firefox radiotuna (desktop app) Gamecompanion1.3 Steam (not really active) Catalyst from ati Bitdefender Internet total security 2013 (no scanning in progress) That's about it. Except for windows own services running in the background. Total memory usage: 22% Total cpu usage: 60% (taskmanager consumes 30% which I used to get this data) -
FO3 and windows 8 how to get it to work?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
The core issue I had was the fallout launcher would not run at all: I never saw the splashscreen giving me the option to run windowed, resolution hdr/bloom vsync and so on. So I the game could not generate it's own ini files needed to run the game. :) How I got it to work: Create folder Documents\My Games\Fallout3 Copy the default ini files from fallout new vegas: FalloutPrefs.ini and FALLOUT.ini And copy over the Fallout_default.ini located with the launcher. Note, I haven't touched a single mod as of yet. So only tools I have used is vanilla fallout+dlc+fose+fomm+1.7official patch. In this last attempt I cleaned out the records manually in regedit that had any reference to fallout3 and Bethesda Softworks\fallout3 I set fallout3.exe to vista service pack 2 and fose_loader.exe to vista service pack 2 That made it work quite well. -
FO3 and windows 8 how to get it to work?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I followed your steps, removed everything related to fallout 3 including the ini created in my documents path, and the one in the data folder. Installed fallout 3, dlc, ran FOMM created the fake dll, patched the game to 1.7 and it installed without whining. So the fake dll works as intended. Everything I could I told to run in vista, fose was allowed to inject it self. Even tried to run it elevated didn't do anything different. Heres my fose_launcher.log seems quite normal launching: Fallout3.exe (C:\spel\Fallout 3\Fallout3.exe) crc = FE5B82AE hook call addr = 00C05F61 load lib addr = 00D9B0F0 dll = C:\spel\Fallout 3\fose_1_7.dll remote memory = 001C0000 old winmain = 006EE300 launching But nothing happens, launching fo3.exe ignoring the existence of the launcher does absolutely nothing. Should I ignore the existence of the 1.7 patch? But think fose needs it? -
FO3 and windows 8 how to get it to work?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Cheers will see if your tips works :) Wasn't aware that fomm would fake that dll :) As for the launcher, I thought it was needed to make the basic 3 *.ini Otherwise I never bother with it except once, to get the resolution and stuff. :) -
FO3 and windows 8 how to get it to work?
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
No I didn't I used the ms package that added games for xbox. As I understood that package is needed to run fo3 first time with launcher. Won't work hmm I can choose compability on fallout3.exe but not the launcher. To apply settings on the launcher I must use the annoying guide. I will try to reinstall and see if windows will allow me to install it as a vista version. I believe I need the launcher to do it's magic first before going with fomm, fose, 4gb enabler? In order to generate the needed *.ini files? -
So, I was feeling I wanted to revisit washington and kill me some mutants. Sat and watched the horribly dull process of fallout installing, and clicked the launcher nothing happen no error message just wont work. Next step I grabbed the latest patch 1.7 uk version not sure what the difference is really between uk/us. Ran the launcher nothing happened no error message or anything. So next step was to install fose and see what happened and fose said I miss xlive.dll. Grabbed the xlive.dll ran the launcher nothing happened at all. Ran fose instead, it started to run but nothing happens. So does anyone know how to get FO3 to work with windows 8? I have tried various compability settings native to windows but none have any effect. Would anyone mind giving me some solutions? :)

Can this be correct? Massive dirty edits..
Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Well I'm slowly learning what to do or what not to do. :) But another question how to learn and become something more then a semi-knowledgeable user if we can't do a mistake and then ask why x causes y? -

Zorkel replied to Zorkel's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Why, oh why can't modding be simple and care free? Seems there is 42 variants of doing same thing with 92 different opinions on how to do it. Not so much wiser, quite a lot more confused. But very grateful for the responses. :) -
So wondering if anyone could recommend a good mod that works with project nevada and mainly adds diversity of encounters and spawns like MMM did for fallout 3. Took a look at A world of pain, but it doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for.

Wow, an old post but damn it's a life saver! Will go into my most important ini hack save file. :D -

Actually when I disabled "cleaned" version of WFO my fallout worked like a charm, also falloutNV.esm was not altered. Only WFO so your conclusion would seem to be incorrect here. Unless I have misunderstood something.
