  1. It's not that I've ever wanted to blame anyone running this site. I'm aware of the fact that i'm responsible for my own security. On the other hand, I witnessed a copple of viral- and hack-attacks on the Nexus the last copple of years. While they're all weren't lethal, they're still a pain in the butt. And indeed I believe I can request just as much safety from the guys running this site, as I grant to my own system. I do as well appreciate the honesty and legal actions of Dark0ne and the help he personally granted me, when I faced a potential infection. Im just asking you guys to grab this hacker by the balls and initiate appropriate countermeasures regarting the attack...and I understand you do...so everything's fine.
  2. Had a look at my Email. I've got 2 of thoose Viagra spam mails. Deleted them right at hand. But now I have the problem, that I can't seem to log in into the Nexus Forums. I'm able to login into the downloadbase though. Any help? Edit: Obviously my account login data had been hacked. Just changed the password. Any chance you guys can get rid of thoose hackers once and for all? I mean, three-four hacker attacks and viral infections on the Nexus in a year is a bit to much for me to bare...honestly...you should consider to invest more into decent safety for your customers. **SNIP** EDIT by LHammonds: Strike #1 earned for your vulgar rant.
  3. I'm using G-Data which is the most "reliable" Anti-Virus programm available in Germany. It comes with Anti-Malware and Trojan tool. The New Vegas Nexus is the only website I'm experiencing this. There's no problem with Fallout and Oblivion Nexus however. It doesn't cause any damage, because my software blocks it. I'm sending you a picture as personal message, I think that's more secure.
  4. Hey folks, I get a "Pixer.Meaning Tool" Virus warning message whenever I enter the Nexus New Vegas Download Base. I won't post a link to the site my virus programm is blocking, as I assume it's lethal for you and my computer. Anyone else having this issue?
  5. I always play the same character as the topic starter assumed...an alternative version of myself in a fictional reality. I have a girlfriend, so starring a boobs sometimes is usual. I still use the BB breast mods though... :whistling:
  6. Obviously something corrupted your save. Go back to a stable save and play from there. Never use auto- or quĂcksave. Use rotating hardsaves (5-10) and save every 15-30 minutes.
  7. This usually happens if you don't save your passwort before going into offline mode. Go through the general options and search google to teach you how to do it^^
  8. In fact, all the rants about Steam are very funny to me. And in fact, they all doesn't make sense. It's just like the classic moan about newly invented stuff from people that can't go with the future. What do you think would have happened if we listen to the complaints, when the first PC was selled? Right, you wouldn't even be able to start your rant here. Ranting about Steam not giving you enough security is just as senseless as arguing about Microsoft not giving a safe internet. It's your system, go buy proper antivirus software. If you're concerned about Trojans that infect your computer, or Steam that "hacks" it, why in gods name even deal with modern computers and the internets at all? I'm sure most of you guys use Google, right? You know that if you use Google, you get constantly "hacked"? Let me explain it like this. If you buy a car, do you get safety insurance for free, or is it you that has to get the insurance? It's the same with game developers. Game developing costs money, if you want the software companies to pay for everything then we probably would never see games on the market. Deal with the fact that work, blood and sweet has been put into New Vegas, just as every other game that ever saw it's release and game developers just as the publishers want to get their reward for the work they did. Why do you expect to get payed at your job but refuse to accept that thoose guys also want money? Why do you want as much comfort as possible at your job, but refuse to grant Bethesda customers the same benefit with the usage of Steam. It's a paradoxon to me, really can't comprehend this. So heres what I advice you to do: 1. Get a faster internet (like ADSL), it's cheap theese days everywhere on the planet, except Iraq or Afghanistan maybe. 2. Use Steam, it's your friend just as Google is. Ranting about it just lets you look like a extremely paranoid conservative. 3. Get New Vegas like the developers want it to be and play it like they want it...or...make your own New Vegas. Theres another thing you could do, which you've already mentioned in the topic starter post, but that would make you a pirat. And if you argue about Steam not being "morally correct", then think about what you would be, if you pirat the game...spell it...P.A.R.A.D.O.X.O.N...rant without sense just for the sake of ranting...got you...
  9. Hey guys, I was wondering, with the two different types of download notifications (totals and uniques), why did you initially implement this? I remember a while back, maybe two years ago, I was active on this site and downloaded some mods, but can't remember seeing thoose two different notifications. Was there a serious reason or "incident" that made you implying this, or is it just for the statistics? How do you count if the numbers are real. Do you see unique downloads by IP? And if so, if someone uses a router he basically could circumvent theese actions. How do you prevent this? I'm interested in this, because I see on most mods the numbers of unique and total downloads show great diversion. I also think some of the mods get pushed by "Fan Rating", does the system work here like supposed to? Another think is, if you caught someone extensively fan rating, do you punish him for doing so? Do new versions of mods count as unique or total download? I know I redownloaded a copple of mods sometimes, either because I've lost them inside the mess of my computer or I'm simply to lazy to search for them. It's far more easy and also faster to just enter the Nexus and redownload mods, then search for them. How do other users on this site think about this?
  10. There was another update this afternoon. It seems like this update fixed anything that the last one messed up. Here's what I did to see my custom textures again and get rid of the mouse lag. 1. Reenable Steam Cloud in Steam settings 2. Delete the whole "MyGames\FalloutNV" Folder 3. Deleted the "falloutprefs.ini" in "Steam\Userdata\Digit Number\22380\remote" 4. Restarted New Vegas and adjustet the game in options to my preferences 5. Leave New Vegas and restart again...bingo Mouse lag gone, custom titties there^^ Make sure to make a backup of your actuall FallouPrefs.ini in your "MyGames\FalloutNV" Folder if you customized the file manually. You will also notice, that any change made in the FalloutPrefs.ini now works like supposed too. Just to be on the safe side, if you manually set up the FalloutPref, also adjust the one in remote. Don't use ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated files. Make your own "ArchiveInvalidation.txt" put it in "fallout new vegas\data" and manually put your textures into that file.
  11. Rubbish. Xbox gets it first, others get it later. According to some old article it says 'exclusive first release' to Xbox and even that isn't sure, according to the newest information.
  12. What a fine statement the young man made. Honestly, there's absolutely no sense in complaining about Steam. GFWL is bugged up the A%&% and everyone had problems with it, so it basically makes sense that they quit it. I guess everyone complained about Steam when it initially came with HL2, but people learned what a nifty little tool and platform it is. And now I can't imagine being without Steam. True, the change to Steam is a pain in the a&& for 360 users...but ultimately Fallout and it's precedesor is a PC game. Head on, buy a PC, you also get the benefit to mod New Vegas^^
  13. I'm going to extensively (one weekened ~30 hours) playing the game, finish the main quest and make notes on what I want to change. The next weekend i'm going to download a copple of mods, play through the game again and make my notes. Modding won't probably start before I'm in the game ~50 hours+.
