  1. Hi tutle. Im using blender, the objects parts are not a problem, I have made another sword, working perfectly using the same method. As for the uv maps, that might be the problem, I did do them propperly but I feel I might have missed a step in doing the materials correctly.
  2. Thanks for the offer stonedturtle. I shall open my most recent ( working ish ) file that ive been toying with all night. along with the textures im using. http://www.fileswap.com/dl/y34wnNXq/mostrecent.zip.html once again thanks for all the help. Also - I have made other models - posters, a sword. and these items all worked fine yesterday. It might be down to archive invalidation, but , heres the thing, other mods are working fine...... if you do belive its down to that, any advice on that would also be great.
  3. I belive its caused by fallout using two diffrent models for the head and the body. There is always a tear along there, but most items cover it up. just my two cents.
  4. Hi david, yes, Im using .DDS files with mipmaps on them. im also using _n normal maps to go with the file. Nothing seems to be working. Nothing.
  5. Right, im giving up. Im sick of this now, its all gone tits up. Quickly. I made my first sword, it went perfectly, without a flaw, baduk even helped me get it all sorted. but now, this is just impossible. ALL my textures in game have f`ed up ( tryed doing archive validation and everything else) They are all texture stealing. My sword that im making now the handel gos to the side of the blade, even though its well within in collision box ( ive updated and applied many many many times) im just stressed out, and very annoyed at myself for not being able to do this. if anyone feels they could help you have no idea how greatful I would be.
  6. This is happaning to me as well. Not sure what the issue is. Also, as off today, all my custom textures screwed up... =/
  7. I THINK I DID IT !!!!!!!!!!111111 It took a while, but instead of complaining I took it into my own hands and solved the problem. The textures were pointing to stasis\filename. by setting up my folders again - and exporting each part individually in blender I have been able to get it working....I hope. Thanks for all the help, after ive made my mod, ill be sure to make a tutorial.
  8. how odd. Its working, and I must thank you for cleaning up my file Fumo I can learn from my mistakes. but, the sword is showing up as blue in the geck......bright blue. Thats using my texture paths, I left the blade unchanged - and it displays the chinese default textures perfecly fine....but my texture shows up in geck blue? Any ideas. edit: right clicking on the render window and clicking on `texture testing,' or whatever, causes geck to crash.....could this be related to the textures being in use by another model.... I just really want to get this working, ive tried everything I can think off now. edit edit : im going to try creating a normal map for every texture in use. See if that stops the texture stealing. another edit: - even using xxxx_n.dss wont work.....im nearly giving up, this is the last thing on my mod and it just had to go wrong >.> ugh. Im getting the purple texture thing again....
  9. Thanks for the responce Fumo, however, I have done this once before, and the item worked flawlessly in game. So I cannot for the life of me work out what is going wrong. I have been using the chinesesword.nif file as a template as this worked the first time round. I have afeeling It might be something to do with the materials I have used..... in my other model I have none of these ( see pic ) but if I delte them, nothing changes......
  10. Thanks for the advice, but still no effect. I cannot belive my luck. My mod just needs this last item adding, and ive done it before, its just going wrong now. If anyone out there can solve this while im at work, Id REALLY appreciate it. edit: while the item is in geck - doing the texture steal thing , it has a big collision box around it.....maybe it has something to do with collision?
  11. ugh, trust me eh? This is the problem. ive been using nifskope and blender for a week now, importing and exporting and even getting my first wep in game working fully, no worries at all. Today, I come home from work, and try to add the last item onto my mod before release ( modeling a sword - setting it up in nifskope and getting it in the geck.) These are the problems. 1. - while using my mesh in nifskope and click on it causes nifskope to crash. - both copys of it. 2. - if I do get an item in geck - it shows up in the model render window with weird graphical glitches. ( e.g - it steals the background texture, or the last one I had, it turns into a weird ....pointy.....multi-coloured shape thingy.......thing.....) So heres my data, I really hope you guys can pin point it. I myself think it could be something from the exporting into nifskope.... as for textures let me elimnate some problems, my textures all show up fine in nifskope - all of them are the correct paths. I really dont have much info to give...... I mean, I can upload my .nif file if that would help?

  13. New start with a small quest. I would like for it to be a new story but seeing as it is my first mod, I dont want to make false promises.

Alone, Cold and terrified. Since being frozen, You have lost your most recent memories. Since being frozen, A war has raged. A war that woke even the eternal sleeping from their slumber. Welcome to Stasis, A fallout mod aimed at people who enjoyed playing Fallout new vegas. Enjoyed the setting. And want one small exscuse to explore the land again. With Stasis my aim has and always will be to give you, the player a new perspective on FNV. What if legends were real? What if one man could become a local hero. You will explore a start your game fresh. In a new enviroment. With a new story to be told. Seeing as Stasis is my first mod ( I learned how to model, texture and use the geck all less then a week ago) please do not think of a fantastic game changing mod. Alas I also feel many of you may underestimate this mod. I have big dreams for modding, I assure you. these dreams however, will wait until my first project is complete and I am happy with it. What Stasis can offer you; - A new Karma Sword. - Good , evil, regular joe? We all need a blade in these times. - A new enviroment, using old parts and new posters a backstory is built inside the Stasis Chamber. - Emotion , Hopefully the story will touch you, Hopefully you will find the peoples storys fun to explore. - constantly updated ( upon being released I expect five weeks of `tweeks,' - adding new contect, mostly easter eggs and story information) - A chance to give a budding modder some feedback. I will update this thread as often as I can. The mod is (hopefully ) going to be released tommorow.   16. Ive just come off a week about learning all there is to know about making, skinning, importing exporting, you name it, ive had to learn it. Your best bet for something like this would be to ask an experienced modder, if you truely wish to get started and are ready for the time and commitment to making a mod then please head over to blender. Blender is a free 3d modeling program. Once you belive you have mastered the basics ( id start with this simple but effective tutorial : , he is young, but his advice is sound.) Your next step will be importing models into blender, there are plenty of tutorials out there, but its good to get grounded with the basics first. have fun with blender. :)

  18. This concept is not too far from my own first mod in the works. Everything is basicly done for my mod, I need a write up and to get the new items in game, thatas the hardest part. Im blessed by this community and its members, we have the best modders and the most helpful people here at the nexus. I'd like to offer my hand with this project, I am a new modder myself, but if you need anything, dont be afriad to ask. ( and keep us posted :) )
  19. To be honest the look of people in fallout is quite Lore friendly. Considering, gee, a nuke war. Thats a pin-point cause for hair loss, as for sleeping in `mud pits` - try sleeping outside and having the elements do battle with you everyday. Water is considered as valuble to people in the wastes as we consider money now. Plus the fact a lot of the water out there is iradeated just means its plain nasty stuff to be drinking. If I see a fiend strolling across to shoot me wearing a clean white ball gown, and looking stunning, I would know im playing the wrong game. - protip - killing raiders that are unclean feels a lot better then killing raiders that are clean xD
  20. Ok, first post on the forum. And its just to make this comment. As a noob yet mature mob maker I would really appreciate it if you made a detailed mod listing everything youve done to add this wepon. This is just fantastic, youve tackled problems like a real modder and actually done problem solving, youve used the community instead of being embarrased by it, and by god you even posted fantastic pictures of work on a rifle that I could ont make in two weeks. So I would love it if you made a tutorial in the form of written word ( you could do the modeling in a video? ) Please consider this, I would love to add, texture and reward my player with a special wep after they complete my quests. - p.s - if you made one and I actually got a working, animated lets say, rifle in game, Id be more then happy to pay £10 for the knowledge. ;-)
