  1. Really appreciate the tip, Chucksteel. Such a simple idea and makes perfect sense, I just hadn't considered it (Then again, I hadn't really had a REASON to.) I definitely will be doing this after work tonight when I get home, cause I want to check out survival mode for sure. For the record, I don't think that guy was asking if you need BAE lol. Then again you guys could have been giving him crap for it, but I think either he meant Bad-A** or he meant BAE, I think I have seen people using it as some kind of term on these interwebz now adays... I dont keep up on gibberish any more. 1 a/\/\ |\|07 a5 1337 a5 1 0|\|<3 \/\/45... lol.. I still remember when 1337-speak got super popular, and every damned gamertag used it (Mine included......)
  2. Under preferrences you can assign the folders / locations used by default for saving and such, at least in 3ds max, id assume in Maya as well. Should help some.
  3. I am / was really hopeful that future mod work will allow more than 4 options per choice, myself. But otherwise I will have to use a system similiar to your 2nd one I think, kind of a blend and trying to make it natural like Fatalmasterpiece suggested.
  4. I didn't even consider this, this is an excellent idea. Going to set this up after work in the morning before they completely destroy their idea due to whining, I may have to permanently hold on to a beta version for future use lol. Thanks for this idea, cant believe I didn't think of it. Truly excellent if it works (I assume you tried it?)
  5. I imagine console is disabled because of the "temptation" factor. Some people when faced with a challenge find the urge to cheat a little to get out of it. I really hope they don't dumb this down to nothing due to complaining. This was going to be a solid groundwork for my next play through.. I am tempted to try the beta, but I want to be able to tweak its settings with mods, so I was waiting for it to be live.. but at this rate they will just abandon the entire idea :(
  6. I really do apologize to anyone that I may have offended by any of this, I am trying my damndest to remain civil, but this has to be a whole new level of absurdity, entitlement, and completely irrational thought process. If you don't want it to break / disable your mods, wait until its actually a LIVE update, and the mods are updated to work with it. Its not hard! >_< >_<
  7. I think you just forgot how things should be, how end product should, what quality it should be, etc. Would you pay money for car, that look great but... you know, steering wheels always pulls a little bit aside, some doors not locking properly, interior padding slightly clipping, oh, and one another little problem, it don't have braks. But don't worry, car dealers said you, we will fix it very soon! You can just ride now, then, if you'd like of course, we will install beta version of brakes! And after you test it we'll make full version of brekes! And it all be free!!!1111 And all other small things will repair you pals in garage, also for free! Alright. Lets work with your "paying for a car" analogy here. You buy a fancy new car, pay a nice price for it, and decide to buy some after market parts for it. A few months later, this really cool new technology comes out for your car, and the car dealership decides they want to install it on your car for FREE! Now, they tell you, this technology is new, and they really need the car to be back to stock form before they install and test it. They state they haven't had enough tests of it yet, and don't want to install a faulty tech and potentially harm you or your vehicle. They state you can either wait a few weeks or so till they have sufficiently tested the technology, or revert your car to stock and be a tester as well. Or, option C, you can risk it all and install it even with your modifications, but they highly recommend you don't do that, and advise you just wait. Now, are you going to install the technology, with your modifications, and risk it anyway, only to complain to the company when it doesnt work properly!? THat is EXACTLY what you are doing. Your post really, really frustrates me. You're getting a free update, that isnt currently ready, and they simply want people to TEST IT. And you're acting like its supposed to be live right now, LOL. UGGHHHhhhh people.
  8. Holy hell, people! This is a BETA test of some very new and fairly drastic changes to Survival Mode. Bethesda POSTED asking you / instructing you to disable mods and start a FRESH save for testing it. The reason being, IT'S A BETA! They need feedback on the BETA itself, not on Mods effects on the beta. I am really excited for Survival mode, but if I decide to play it, I will be backing up my saves and mods, and starting a new game to toy around with it, till the official release. The people acting like Bethesda did anything wrong at all are absolutely nuts. They even ASKED you to do it this time, even though in reality, if you are beta testing content, you really ought to realize they want straight feedback on it, not you trying to use incompatible mods and then cussing at them because "THE BETA BROKE MY GAME!". Because that causes them to waste valuable time and resources trying to find why your game is crashing over and over, only to realize its because you are running 100 mods that are not currently working with it. I am usually pretty polite, calm, and try to be friendly. But some of the posts in here are absolutely absurd! You make the modding community look bad, and for those worrying that Bethesda would restrict modding at all, people going off on them about a BETA update not working with mods seems to me would be more likely to make them say "Screw it" and avoid the hassle all together and disable mods period. (Not that they are going to mind you.) Sorry, I just can't fathom some peoples sense of entitlement and inability to understand concepts... some of these posts are just absolutely absurd. Come on people.
  9. I will tell ya that, I had an R9 290x, which is really similar to an 390x. And while it was a pretty good card overall, Fallout 4 was never as consistent as it shouldve been on it. Then it died ~4 months after my 2 year warranty was up. Now I have a 980 GTX... and my oh my, does it run smooth. Point being is Fallout doesn't particularly like ATI cards as much. If I had to guess the issue in that area, its probably shadow related. Shadows seem to hit the hardest *shrug* Also of note--- the areas you are going to see the largest hits are downtown districts, outside. The really dense areas with a lot going on, many shadows etc. Interior cells were never really bad on my card at least, even maxed out, they just aren't typically big enough. Just my two cents.
  10. That's an interesting looking vertibird  (Kidding of course) Glad you got it working!
  11. Anyone? I still haven't been able to discover a particular advantage over them, after messing with them a bit. Its obviously something technically different, I just am not 100% sure what and when it comes into play. Maybe at longer distance..?
  12. I posted it in another thread, but I actually DID contact someone at Bethesda about the Keyword limit. He as a person didn't know any specific details, but suggested that it would likely be something they would address around the time of the GECK. He also stated that he would pass the message along about the issue, in case they were unaware of it. *shrug* Time will tell. I can't really see them not doing something with it, since it will limit DLC AND Mods, and make all this time spent on the GECK a waste of time.
  13. In my short time doing this, Ive learned the hard way .nifs are very, very picky. That is to say, you may simple have the main NiNode stating that it has say 5 children instead of the 4 it actually has, and that can cause problems. Though, its also possible the vertibird mesh is just too dense at the scale and that causes it. There can be a lot of little things wrong.
  14. I will say though, I had a slight hope they would fix the keyword issue with this DLC, since they started adding new keywords themselves.. I half hoped they would add enough that they hit the cap and went, oh crap, we should fix that... but no luck yet lol. However, with the next DLC adding to the workshop, and then Far Harbor, and the GECK, I think they will have to address it very very soon. Or they will handicap themselves for any future DLC honestly (Unless they worked around it without fixing it, but seems more likely just to fix it.) Plus, they would make the GECK kinda a mute point since modders would be so hindered.
  15. You got a lot of excellent replies here. I really just want to really reiterate the last post honestly. You cannot be afraid to dig in and try things yourself. Sometimes you won't find immediate answers (Sometimes none at all) online, so don't be afraid to just experiment. As long as you back everything up and keep duplicates and such, essentially the worst that will happen is you will crash. Trust me when I say, I am still very new and learning, and I have crashed my game more times than I care to admit, and cussed at it many more times wondering what I did wrong. Then when I discover what went wrong (Sometimes the smallest, silliest thing...), correct it, and get my mod working... its a very rewarding feeling of accomplishment :) I would suggest starting small, too. Do small projects, and work your way up. Keep in mind that tiny details matter. As a small example, on one of the models for the game that I was editing... it kept crashing my game, and I had NO idea why. Spent hours trying to figure it out. The problem turned out to be... that I had an extra space at the end of the material path. Thats it.. a single space at the tail end of it. Damndest thing to find, since it was basically invisible.. so, pay attention to details :) Take your time. Lastly, and most importantly, have fun!!!!
  16. Doesn't mean I have to like it. I have the right to dislike really bad ideas on an internet message board if I so choose. Fair enough, not going to argue over it.. your opinion is fine with me, I just meant the way you presented it. But either way, not worth causing a fuss over :) I am sorry you are not looking forward to it, though.
  17. Someone posted this already, and I will comment as I did before -- Benders voice assets are going to be copyrighted material I would assume.. I don't know for sure though, since I do see mods that add things like voice samples for level-up sounds that I would think would be copyrighted too. So, I don't know that it would be allowed w/o an OK from whoever held copyright to it... but I could be wrong. It also would be a fantastic mod, lol.
  18. Title says it all, really; I recently encountered a BSOrderedNode on a .nif I was messing with, and hadn't actually seen them before.. I gather that they can contain BSTriShapes and even NiNodes too, almost acting like a NiNode structure wise... the particular mesh doesn't include ALL of the trishapes within the BSOrderedNode, either.. So, really, I want to know what exactly they are used to accomplish, if there is a particular reason to use them in certain circumstances over just either using the base NiNode or a 2nd NiNode? Is it purely for organization..? Does it give some sort of rendering priority to the contained assets? The editor name makes it seem like that might be the case, but I am not really sure. I looked around a bit and didn't specifically find the info I was looking for. It does seem that they are related to rendering order, but with how fast things render as is, I am curious when this might come into play, and when I might want to use this myself in the future. So, any examples of ideal times to use them would also be appreciated. Sorry if this seems like a newbish question, but I hadn't yet encountered these :) Happy modding and thanks for your time, Ser JuJoo Guppy
  19. I have only a vague notion of what I even read, I couldn't even decide if it was a angry rant, a mocking of the community rant, or just absolute nonsense rant. *shrug* All I can say is, sorry you feel whatever way it is that you feel, have a good day!
  20. And you keep repeating the "Make the game no fun" mantra, which is still an opinion sir.. I respect that it is your opinion, but you really should try to understand that that isn't everyone's opinion...... They also stated that damage would be heightened for both players and NPC's, so theres that, too.
  21. I think everyone agrees that toggles would be the most desirable situation, even if you are really into the survival mode idea (Like myself.)
  22. Was just going through this nonsense too, collision being the issue. The best bet is as DarthWayne suggest at the end so far as I can see; find an object that is a similiar shape and size to the end result you want to achieve, and copy its collision data in. Nowhere near ideal nor perfect, but currently, direct collision editing is a no go, which sucks.
  23. It means the old ini edit method is no longer used / not recommended, and thus it gave you a link with directions to follow.
  24. But, that is your opinion, not a fact.. there are many, many players that find this style of gameplay to be enjoyable, is the point being made. It isn't exactly a small amount. I have agreed that some of the functionality should be optional; Perhaps the true survival mechanics of eating / sleep / drink etc are optional with Survival difficulty only adjusting the actual difficulty.. I think thatd have been the ideal approach. But, doesnt sound like its going that way, which for me isn't an issue. As with anything else in these games, if I don't like it, I will mod it :)
