Issues with race menu and face exchange
nisen replied to angel3181's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
would uninstalling face exchange and running a registry cleaner to delete any traces help? If your not running XP its possible thats the problem (looks like an old program) and I couldnt get it to import squat using W7 64, just kept crashing at the last step. Luckily Wyre Bash can also import faces if you wanto try it: go to the Saves tab in wyre bash launcher, right click the save to edit and select Import Face to transfer the downloaded one. Can also click Revert to Backup to return to the original -

hey angel, just a thought with the face textures, but if youve installed any texture mods like IFT Improved Facial textures, Natural faces, and/or Facial textures by Elanya, you could see if reinstalling them fixes things: I had mine reverted to vanallia once and reinstalling them (extracting the files to data foder again) fixed it. Dont know if theyre connected to your issue tho -

ok heres what BOSS lists Unknown mod file: R18PN - Perona armor.esp Unknown mod file: sun_night_elves.esp Unknown mod file: NoMouseWheelZoomKeyOBSE.esp Unknown mod file: DesuChan's Dolls.esp Unknown mod file: DesuChan's Persocoms RECONSTRUCTED.esp first one probably goes anwhere among the other R18PN, & NoMouseWheelZoom just stops the camera panning in/out locking up, so the main difference will be which race mods take precedence on the list -

edit: thanks Hickory, excellent advice, I wanted to know about finding the userlist txt aswell, so can just create it now could you take a look at the few mods ive got after my bashed patch to suggest any particular spots to list them? -

nisen replied to angel3181's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
sure, so Wyre Bash puts a bashed patch esp into the mod list near the bottom, and whatever cant be included in the patch, for whatever reason, you need to move below that esp (ive only had one) but BOSS also puts any mods it doesnt know below the bashed patch esp which probably could be included. Im really hazy on what the patch does other than merging parts of different mods with the same files, so they can access shared files from a master file or something. Theres a pdf guide on the Wyre Bash download page on tesnexus, but for everything technical, its at Wyre Musings hey thanks Hickory, didnt know about the userlist text file for the unknown mods. -

wow theyre really smiling, and scary. You might try the console command temo (ToggleEmotions) says it turns off character facial expressions, but I cant tell much difference looking at mine atm (was trying for this elven doll and got the mouth right so no smiling or snarly) and like Hickory suggests a bashed patch might sort it out but im only starting to work how to use it, so still plenty of glitches with mine and cant offer advice -

the scary/ugly smile sounds like your characters angry face which can stay on while after any actual danger from what ive seen in the journal screen, so it could be the same mechanic happening in the race menu. With the save game just made, would that mean Oblivion resets the mood profile, or your cute elf just wasnt angry at the time? Try saving the game when you notice it again & load it straight away to see if still there, and if that happens try after starting the game again. do you mean the camera views too close, or are there textures/meshes missing or distorted? -
hey so the Franscescos leveled creatures-items mod setup exe (Franscescos Main Package) doesnt detect Shivering Isles install, but both DLC Shivering Isles.esp and the Uofficial Shivering Isles patch.esp are active. is that a normal glitch in the setup app, and ignoring should it be fine ignoring its recommendation to *not* install its SI version? Anyone else had this happen setting up Franscescos?

how to update OOO 1.33 omod with 1.34 beta 5 patch?
nisen replied to nisen's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
well OOO's working as expected starting from a new game, havent noticed much difference other than potions not taking immediate effect, and the new colors, and threres a much better sound for metal clashing, but that could be from Sympony of Violence installed just before it. So now to add MMM Franscescos, Warcry and Bobs armory then FCOM convergence. Bloody glad I got the OOO right this time. Ta -
how to update OOO 1.33 omod with 1.34 beta 5 patch?
nisen replied to nisen's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
thanks wastelandassasin, yea good point not to overwrite it in the folder, so ive just made the omod of OOO 134 Beta 5 Patch, and all went well except for OBMM saying it was unusable and giving it a black dot, but makes sense itd think that how itd be overwriting the esp and esm and some textures and meshes. Now to see if its works. cheers -
Ok I thought I did this once before, but looking over the files from when that was done, doesnt look like I did, scratches head and theres no instructions for installing the OOO patch 1.34 beta 5, it only says 'requires prior instal of OOO Complete 1.33 Fine, but 1.33 is installed as an omod, but the beta patch doesnt come with conversion data. Do you simply make the 1.34 patch into an omod anyway, adding name version author website yourself, and activate it over the 1.33 install? It will add different esm and esp so assume those will replace the original esm and esp from 1.33 once both are activated And wouldnt it be equally possible to just copy the 1.34 patch into the 1.33 folder telling it to overwrite folders and the esm / esp before installing the 1.33 (so its a 1.33+1.34 omod in one?

Ok completely ignored, So the F03Edit training manual applies equally to the Tes4Edit program working, and Tes4Edit is a lot more useful than OBMM or Wyre Bash for detecting/correcting conflicts? Ive started over remodding my Oblivion reciently so not much is installed right now, but a quick look at the OBMM 'new conflict detectors' shows a ton of entries in red so inclined to agree it doesnt do detecting so well. btw ive also bought F03 (havent download it yet) so glad to see Oblivion modding has some overlap.

Unofficial Oblivion Patches
nisen replied to Deleted2402016User's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
You might need to install the unofficial patches in a different order from what you have (as 1 2 4 3) with the Shivering Isles 3rd and UOP Mods 4th. And it might be worth installing them in omod format. Note you cant get the UOP Supplimentals in omod format but it has conversion data so if you copy the zip archive straight to obmm/mods (dont extract it) OBMM can create it from the archive and find the conversion data to sort it out. So if youve not allready downloaded this stuff, first get OBMM, then the UOP 3.2.0 OMOD, UOP Supplimentals main file, Shivering Isles patch OMOD, and UOP Mods OMOD, and activate in that order Draw distance is handled by RAEVWD and Tes4Gen -
Hi, I dont know a lot about making omods, but have done a few not packaged with conversion data or 'omod ready', just by adding main folders (or if simple enough, the zip file itself) into the obmm/mods folder and starting from there but sometimes they dont work either with data conflicts or missing something and I dont when or how to write scripts for them. In those cases I just use the recommended data folder install method. Largest file not recomended for omod that converted easily was Apachii Goddess Store; downloaded it from the mirror so was only one file and works great but reciently created an omod for Improved Trees and Flora (merging ITF and ITF2 textures/meshes before creating it) which shouldve been a simple but it shows major conflicts with the UOP, having 26 entries with textures and meshes like this Data file textures\plants\bwcattail01_n.dds already exists - CRC mismatch. The new file is different from the old. - Data file owned by unofficial_oblivion_patch_v3_2_0_omod_version-5296.omod and the recomended archive invalidation setting only mentions textures, however thats relevant. For now, can anyone say if the work around having ITF/ITF2 as an omod is to first uninstall all the unofficial patches, activate ITF use BSA redirection, and hope to see the uofficial patches then turn green? I just want a quick way to uninstall ITF incase its got a big performance hit and the normal oblivion/data uninstall would take ages.

Just imo it doesnt make sense on whats sapposed to be a better UI to shrink the interface so small they cant be seen: those little pictures are a bonus of the vanilla menus, so thinking a compromise would be having a DarN interface with only twice the lines showing so the thumb nails were at least half the original size ill keep using DarN for the Cargen and Map screens and have added fonts to make all the other scripts bigger, but anything meant to have thumb nails have to keep vanilla, unless that can be changed too. So has anyone figured a way to change this part of it? thatd be perfect

Oblivion Crashing on Startup (before main menu)
nisen replied to dwdisease86's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
good stuff, and btw if you ever find steams taking too long to load the game, try disconnecting your modem, so steam gets bypassed and the game can start on its own. I sometimes have a super slow connection, and stumbled on that gem in frustration: doesnt affect performance or 'dlc' content, considering its all on your hard drive anyway. Guess that 'finished downloading dlc content' message before it loads means its finished re-checking for official updates/patches which are probably done for this game allready -
mods or ini tweaks for 3rd person camera view
nisen replied to nisen's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
haha as expected 5 seconds on google found it: No Mouse Wheel Zoom a tiny 4KB file from donkeys years fixes it. Cant understand why its hardly ever been downloaded or asked about, but solution found so no need to reply -
the interesting part is your getting stutters but not the crashing, I over moded and found when it started to stutter (outdoors) just from looking around or running would bring on a crash. Have you been watching the fps (console command is tdt) and if it is pretty stable the fix might be a minor thing like replacing one or two of the mods mentioned with lower spec versions. Also apparently Oblivions taxing on cpu usage, so good idea to close other programs when playing it, try Game booster for that

im also using the Steam copy with W7 64 and if they installed steam on C drive itll be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\oblivion and doesnt seem to have any problem with mods or security. Sounds like it was a real hassle with Vista machines -
Oblivion Crashing on Startup (before main menu)
nisen replied to dwdisease86's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
have you tried running any other games or downloaded any driver updates? If youve updated it, couldve done something wrong there, cause its more than likely Oblivion will recognise it, so trouble shoot with another game first, and check in device manager if your GT425s 'working properly' -
mods or ini tweaks for 3rd person camera view
nisen posted a topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hey, really annoying problem: when in 3rd person, trying to zoom in or out, locks the camera position in either 1st or long range 3rd person. so theres no way to stop it mid point, which also overrides the normal 3rd person spot and wont allways restore after a save and reload. Dont know if not using a gaming mouse is part of it, but use a controller, so a quality mouse isnt normally needed. Are there any mods or ini tweaks, that change in game scroll wheel sensitivity? -
Using a xbox 360 controller with oblivion
nisen replied to aaronjreeves's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Edit: ok Angelhearte with using the xpadder profile added in the second post and "having set it up to buse joystick 1 AND 0 and having disabled mouse attack in the game... " I dont know what mouse attack is but if youve set it to "bUse Joystick=0", xpadder wont work either but this means youve got two seperate controller profiles working at the same time. The two stick controls are no problem as theyre the same as the xpadder profile, so just need to delete the button mapping by choosing each one and pressing esc Also the game might not load the Joystick access if theres no controller connected when Oblivion first loads; which'd show in the "controls" part of the menu, with the Joystick look/move greyed out. so solution is open the xpadder profile & turn the controller on before starting the game. hope it helps
