  1. I am glad to see this happen. I much preferred Mod Manager because it was much more powerful and far more stable. I had so many issues with NMM over the years and often would get frustrated with the way it worked at times. I see people on here saying NMM was easier for them to use, but I always found Mod Manager to be vastly more intuitive. It had a little bit of a learning curve at first because it was different, but once you understood the basics, it was hard to imagine how you ever used NMM. I still remember back in the early days of NMM, where it was buggy and had frequent problems that continued on to the present. With a new design for the program I don't see how things couldn't be anything but better.
  2. I just played it for 4 hours, took a break in the middle. My impressions so far. It's what Skyrim should have been had they finished it. It looks absolutely beautiful with its out of the box lighting. The distant terrain looks great, the vegetation looks fantastic and one of the best things, the shadows look great. I actually just stood in the center of Riverwood for about 15 minutes real time, just staring at the scenery and observing the lighting as the sun came up over the mountains early in the morning. It looked stunning to say the least. One of the biggest changes that I can see just from wondering around for a few hours is how much volume was added to everything. Even the little rocks on the ground, although they can look a bit out of place in areas, when you add everything else together, it makes the world feel more full, rather than a bunching of empty space dotted with objects. The lip sync bug that Bethesda left us with at the end of the original Skyrim's run has finally been eliminated; so, you can actually talk to people without that irritating issue. It just fascinates me how slight changes can make the game feel so different. I was impressed by how smooth the game ran. I only had a couple of mods installed, nothing that altered the game substantially, just minor little tweeks and fixes. When Fallout 4 launched it ran like total crap and it still does in certain areas of the game; so, that tells me that they corrected some short comings in the engine for Skyrim before releasing it. I am really looking forward to modding my game up the way I had it before; but, found that many of the mods I had before are no longer necissary now, as I am fairly content with the base graphics in the game. Now, when it comes to characters, they still look horrible. There are many mods, such as armor, body, hair, skin and animation mods that I would love to port over; but, I am sure it will be a long while before that happens, so I probably won't be messing with the game until I can put most of that stuff back in, so the game is closer to how I had it before. I feel comfortable though, that I can now add a lot of those mods without causing any lag or fps loss as the new game seems like it can handle far more content than the original ever could. When I loaded up the launcher the first time and it adjusted the settings to ultra high I was like, "booya!" lol From what I have read, with the new engine and CK, the modders will be able to do a lot more with the game than they could before; so, I am looking forward to some better content. I'm sure most of us at this point would be satisfied with seeing something other than follower mods on the front page every single week.
  3. Yep, I noticed that bug as well. Hadvar gets pushed out of his position in that scene by the horse, so he keeps walking around trying to get back; but, the horse is standing in the way. Then the character creation screen pops up with the horses head filling up half of the screen. It's actually kind of funny; but, it's definitely a bug.
  4. Ever since Oblivion there was something that always bothered me about the combat in TES. It became more apparent in Skyrim; since your character has the ability to disengage from combat with certain NPCs, like guards simply by sheathing your weapon. What bothered me was, when you beat an enemy NPC into submission, often they will plea for mercy while curled up on the ground. You don't really get the option to be merciful; because, after a few seconds they just stand right back up and try to kill you again. What if you sheathed your weapon while the target was in their submissive form on the ground; then after they recovered, they would disengage from combat and either run or fade away? It would make role-playing a good guy seem far more believable, since you wouldn't be forced to execute everyone on the spot. Also, it would make killing that one NPC who really did something nasty, seem far more deserving of it, than some common bandits or mercenaries. Skyrim's culture revolves around Honor; it wouldn't be very honorable to kill a wounded person, that was begging you to let them live.
  5. Yeah, no, it's not as clear-cut as that. Yes, all the Dwemer disappeared, no, it's not in any way clear what happened - there is only conjecture. Yours is based on a quote from a book which itself quotes Dagoth Ur, who was neither all-knowing nor particularly reliable. Direct quote from said book: See also Calcelmo's work on the topic, as well as a number of other sources. When studying the past, you base your understandings on events by what you do know, not by what you don't know. Therefore what I stated is as close to the truth as anyone could fathom for now, until more information becomes available. You cannot discount evidence just because it rubs you the wrong way. I suppose we should just discount anything Nerevar was claimed to have said as well right? It would only be fair. We should also discount Lord Vivic as well, since the story was his personal account of the event. When looking at multiple accounts of the same event, you have to look for common elements. For one, we know that after the death of Kagrenac, the Dwemer vanished from Nirn. What specifically caused it is what is being investigated. Some blame Nerevar and Dagoth Ur for killing all the Dwemer, some blame Karenac for destroying them all in a desperate attempt to empower the Dwemer; but, the Heart of Lorkhan is involved in each case.
  6. Traditionally when a mod author abandoned a mod, they would surrender it to the community. Only in rare circumstances will you see a mod author with a bad attitude that says, "Screw you guys, I'm going home and I'm taking my toys with me". It always bothered me when people made a fuss over someone revitalizing a dead mod; even more so, when it's the original mod author who is the one complaining. It's one thing to complain if you actually care about your mod; but, if you are knowingly neglecting your own content, your authority over it is void. Who really owns a mod anyways? Is it the mod author or the company who allows it to be made? Blizzard already answered that question for it's users by changing it's policies, does Bethesda need to spell it out too?
  7. Read the book, Battle of Red Mountain. It paints a pretty good picture of what happened to the Dwemer. Basically they created a device that was suppose to transform them all into ethereal beings in theory; but, instead it vaporized every last one of them in an instant, leaving behind piles of ash where they stood. This is suppose to imply the moral lesson of over reaching and the consequences that follow. They wanted to become Gods and they annihilated themselves in the process. Perhaps this was planned out by the divines or even the daedric lords. Think about it, one of them could have easily fed them the plans to build such a device, to sew their own destruction. You could easily relate this to the judeo-christian god annihilating early humans, to make way for a more malleable race of humans following the destruction.
  8. He did accidently delete it, the first time. He came on the forums, in this thread and said he didn't want to deal with it anymore; but, then later came back and said something like, "meh I guess I'll reupload it". He uploaded the mod again to the website; but, it was only back up for one day. Then it was taken back down again. I uploaded the latest version V4 with the Dawnguard patch to here: http://www.gamefront.com/files/22758290/Fantasy_Music_Overhaul_V4_with_DG_Patch_rar
  9. As far as I know there were no technical issues with the mod; however, the mod author seemed like they really didn't want to deal with it. These sound/music overhauls come and go with the wind on here. It's hard to keep track of them.
  10. Well that stinks! I really enjoyed this mod, luckily I had the latest version installed before it was deleted. But if it's not going to be maintained anymore, I don't see a point in keeping it. I don't really like using mods that the authors abandon, it creates problems later on when the game or the CT is updated.
  11. This is a known issue with the 1.6 patch. I tested this out myself by doing a clean install of the game, with no mods. Loaded up a new game and made a run straight for the Bee and Barb. CTD as soon as I entered. Edit: I should note that sometimes when you apply modded clothing to certain races it can cause instability. If you have any clothing mods, remove them and see what happens or wait for a patch. lol
  12. Thanks, I was having this issue as well and this worked! =)
  13. OMG, this is so true. I saw it as a big FU to the players for being a hero and saving the ENTIRE WORLD! They are telling me to kill someone based on nothing but blind speculation or they won't talk to me? What the hell is that? Also, she tells me she found out he is a dragon after showing up at the temple, okay, question, how did she find out? The gray beards sure as hell didn't tell her and I'm pretty sure she didn't climb to the peak because her flesh would have been blasted off her bones. I now know I'm not the first person to call BS on this one. I'm not sure who was writing that part of the script; but, I'd like to punch them in the face just for the absurdity of it. I hope a modder out there who sees the flaw in this part of the story will correct this huge mistake; it was the one part of the game that made me cringe with disgust.
