  1. Note that for this to work you will need to run Oblivion in windowed NOT full screen mode. Maximize the window and the only thing you'll need to live with is the slight borders. Ah OK thanks for you help, I hoped it will work in full screen mode but it seems there is no other way, I will have to live with the slight borders ^^. Thanks again ^^ BTW Still searching for mods ^^ The settings work fine in non-windowed mode IF it is a resolution your monitor can support. The comment about windowed mode is for setting a non-standard resolution - hope that clarifies things a little
  2. A Re-download might be the best bet. If that comes as a single file you then install, back it up onto a DVD if you don't have spare hard drive space, so you can reinstall again later if you want. I currently have five installations of Oblivion, and use a (slightly buggy) program called mTES4 to swap between setups. One is my "Vanilla" setup, one is "Eye candy", one is "serious quest mods" and two are for testing mods out to see if I want to add them - one is currently testing out auto-equipping feet for Argonians and Khajiit. If i want another installation or setup, I just clone the Vanilla game and start modding. 1 TB drives are cheap now, so space isn't a problem. I keep EVERY mod I download on either hard drive or a DVD so I only download once. I'm also looking at swapping over to BAIN installation for mods - but having well over 300 mods downloaded it'll take a while to swap over. Alternatively try and get a DVD copy of the Game of the Year edition of Oblivion and use that for installation, depending on how much you pay for data downloads that might be cheaper longterm if you think you'll end up re-downloading a few more times.
  3. Try reading the top topic - "A Guide to preventing bugs and crashing in Oblivion"
  4. Having spotted it in another thread, you could possibly expand the Crafty Bits mod to do much of what has been discussed.
  5. Bashed Patch CAN cause problems if you try to integrate everything in it, so I suggest starting with no patch, and building it by adding one section at a time til the crash happens. Then untick all the bits in that section, and add them back one at a time, isolating the one or combination causing the crash. Repeat for the remaining sections. If using FCOM - try the Bashed Patch settings in the FCOM Superpack install page in the superpack forum - it worked for me.
  6. Reconfish - You've got something else going on if you're getting major crashing with Frans - possibly low memory or other system related stuff. I had no more crashes with a full FCOM setup (OOO, MMM, frans, War Cry, et al.) than with Vanilla, apart from graphical related stuff where my card struggled. I suggest you try FCOM to help them get along - it doesn't add anything much, just helps the other major mods play together nicely.
  7. hellchosen - I agree, Khajiits get very little love from the modders - too many want to give them human faces and turn them into manga characters. I want to make them more like the Kzin (Larry Niven / Star Trek Animated) or Caitian races from SF (M'Ress from Star Trek was nice!). The former especially weren't a "human with fur" look, they had a different body posture and movement - but that would be a second generation mod. Firstly I want to get them up on their toes, nice looking paws, good textures, and (ideally) no silicone chests. Face improvement mods are a possibility, but only if they are optional. AlienSlof does some great textures but I don't hold out much hope of being allowed to port those to a HGEC body for this set of mods.
  8. We can't call out Starfleet yet - the guy working on the Enterprise model did Kirk's ship not Picard's one! Darn, now I'm hijacking my own thread!
  9. Apparently Orcs get a changed dialogue in one of the Daedric quests - they just didn't make much use of it elsewhere. Now I *~HAVE* to learn Oblivion scripting
  10. Aaarghh! I've been RTFM'd! Good point, although it doesn't help the second part of the query.
  11. OK, we'll be picky and make sure if we tweak ANY meshes we get the tail as "right" as we can. Of course, first we need to hunt down and trap a few modders... <puts on Elmer Fudd outfit> "Be WEWWY qwiet - I'm huntin' WABBITS!"
  12. If they ever made an OMOD-to BAIN converter I'd adopt it, but with 300 or so OMODS around and only two of the scripted ones even remotely BAINable without learning the whole lot, of cOURSE I stick with OBMM
  13. I think that's part of the joy of Oblivion ... in the real world things happening can make other things impossible. I'd like to see more conflicting quests, so that doing one automatically screws another one up ... but that's just my own preference
  14. BACTrooper - also take a look at THIS guide to creating a beautiful character
  15. It looks like a wonderful mod. Top of my "must have" list as an addon when launched, I think. One plea - PLEASE try and keep the number of new esp's down low ... I'm suffering from too many as it is
  16. The thing I'm getting annoyed about (probably because I'm in a Victor Meldrew kind of mood) is having to wade through 15 extra races which are added to my initial options purely because the modmaker has a npc of a new variant race and hasn't worked out how to make it work unless they make it playable. I think the first one was the mod that customised Uriel and Martin Septim to look like Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean, and added both of them as separate playable races! When you get to some bigger mods, they add things like Beautiful People or Race Balancing Project as pre-requisites, and hence I get a shedload of variants on mystic elves and enough static hairs to supply several wigmaker's shops. OK, maybe I'm just suffering from being an old curmudgeon. <mutters something about 'I don't believe it! as he wanders off into cyberspace>
  17. I think the White tailtip is something that's personal taste - I'd personally go for a cream or something more in that shade range, as our next-door cat has a tain with a pale tip like that. I was apparently confuzzling two mods on the tails - there's one tail retexture (sadly with an even bigger white tip) which otherwise blends in the base of the tail much better (like this) and one other mod which changes the start point of the base a little (like this), and looks marginally better placed to my non-biologist's eye. I guess different racial variants could have different shaped / shaded tails. Either way, textures are a personal taste thing, but the body is what we're hoping to get looking a little more "correct". As for taking up a slot in the mod order, hopefully any optional body tweaks would be incorporated into the one "do argonian and/or khajiit and/or whatever" esp file, as long as we could obtain permission. Failing that, we work out how to merge the mods using TES4Gecko or something, and post instructions so people can blend their own esps. <Note to self - WHY do you only spot typos AFTER you click the 'Submit' button?>
  18. Ferryt, Maybe I should add Alessia to my list of "back story" mods I want to see ... actually adjust her to react differently - politically polite but muttering to her husband about "That damn furball - makes my nose itch" as soon as the conversation ends, things like that
  19. If you are just after a revamp of the NPC faces, especially the female ones, to make them all look under 25 and average-to-very-good-looking, try TNR.
  20. Having browsed the mods for Khajiit textures yesterday, there's one mod which also shifts the tail mesh so it looks like it comes from the tailbone, not something stuffed up the poor cat's butt. I think that is an improvement we should aim to include too, if possible. Not sure whether there's a similar mod for Argonians - I personally think they should have a thicker, taller tail - more dinosaur-like. Animations - should Argonians and Khajiits have altered running animations? Comments?
  21. There IS another reason - if the player hasn't walked forwards towards the front of the cell enough to trigger his speech... ...or does it eventually time out and happen anyway?
  22. Quest? There are QUESTS? Darn - THAT'S what I'm doing wrong! :wallbash: I thought the idea was to collect and install as many mods as possible before borking the game and having to start again :teehee: ... think it was Unfriendly Competition, but it WAS a while back now. Go Fish was the second for me,
  23. I play a Wood Elf a lot, and "Greetings, Bosmer" is quite common. I'm sure it's used for branching in conversations sometimes - I know it was in Morrowind. And there's one place EVERYONE has heard their race used - Valen Dreth's little speech in the starting cell.
