  1. Great they are back. They were up before a few months back and they basically vacuumed up every mod on the nexus and were passing themselves off as the curators. When told that legal action would be taken against them they laughed. They only eventually took them down when told that pissing off hundreds of computer programmers would likely result in in their personal & bank account info being hacked. If they don't respond to the legal threats again I suggest doing the other option. The fact they are a single individual or small group of people without political connections means the chances of legal backlash would be almost non existent.
  2. The thing is not only were they being stolen. The thieves were taking credit for making them. Some of them were not only taking credit but also asking for donations.
  3. Simply making people link their steam accounts before they upload mods to Bethesda's site will not be enough to deter theft. They will have to have a team (at least as many as the nexus has if not more due to increased size & access to the site) to police it. On top of that they will have to be very harsh with their punishments (things like perma steam hardware account bans & CD key invalidation) Otherwise the little shits will just get new accounts to upload stolen mods.
  4. There are still plenty of versions floating around on the net if you know where to look. (granted most are a few years old) But sadly yes unless someone previously had a copy of it or knows where to "Find" a copy if Havok new animations are likely something that will not be coming. I heard some talk about using multiple kenect's and some other program to make animations. Forget what the other program is but hopefully it works.
  5. Ha, show me one game or software program witch was released without a single bug  Perhaps I should have been clearer. It doesnt have to be completely bug free. But thorough testing for bugs (especially game breaking bugs) will be better for all involved. I say this both for the benefit of the mod author and the consumer. Less game breaking bugs due to testing means more sales & a better rep for the author which will likely lead to even better sales in the future. Less game breaking means the consumer is happier with the over all product. _(and more apt to spend money in the future.) And at the end of the day lets face it, if your making a decent - good amount of money from the mod then taking some pride in your work & doing extra testing isn't out of the question to ask for.
  6. Well, the abomination AR I'm just going to get a replacer model like I did for the 10mm pistol which I just feel is too... clunky as f***. I don't know how you get usefulness out of the break action because whenever I try to use it now it's pretty much a VATS only weapon. Honestly I wish NV would have gotten a remaster over skyrim, the last bethesda game that was made, and after seeing Obsidian's new project, it looks like an isometric RPG and just in general doesn't seem... too appealing, I see an in-person game of D&D to be more fun than that. I was so excited at the lever action in Far Harbor only to see how limited it was, and the fact that it was only .45-70 GOVT instead of a shotgun that would have been far more practical against the mutants of Far Harbor, the problem I find most of the time is the fact that the weapons are just too underpowered for you, in New Vegas you could blow enemies away with a shotgun and the GRA slugs, have flooded the game with good lore-friendly Millenia weapons, and gun fights would be fun because I wouldn't feel like I'm in an uphill battle against my opponent, unless said opponent is a 10' or so tall mutant lizard or a giant supermutant, radscorpions are practically minibosses in FO4 compared to the minor nuisance they were in NV. There was a mod for the lever action that lets you mod it into a shotgun. Frankly however what we really need for it is someone to take the base animations and make a series of weapons out of it ranging from a shotgun, 38 lever action, 44 lever action & 4570 lever action.
  7. The tools for making animations are still floating around out there on the net if you know where to look. But sadly your right, unless a modder who got them when it was legal to get them uses them to make the mod it likely will not be uploaded.
  8. Had a similar idea a while back about being a were- supermutant. Would be funny to become a giant supermutant and run around yelling smash. @ Emissary. Ya some of them are. I actually had an idea about that too for modders to DRM there stuff with a code that makes one rape you to death on load if your using a stolen mod.
  9. The only way I (and I think many others) would be ok with paid mods is if it was done in the following way 1: The modders decide if they want to charge for their content and how much, after which they get at least 50%. 2: The modders know some basic economics and realize that if they make a good mod it can still be incredibly cheap while making them allot of money (50 cents times 50k divided by 2 is still a large chunk of money for a few weeks or even a couple months worth of work. 3: If they are being paid for their work they do need to thoroughly test it before hand to eliminate bugs The last few are big ones on Bethesda's part 4: If paid modding becomes a thing then Bethesda needs to have a full time staff for the site 24x7 for most of the year for policing & customer purposes. 5: Assuming uploading mods requires you to link your steam account & CD key (which it definitely should) the punishment for stealing mod content should be a swift harsh permanent steam ban & invalidation of said CD key. Otherwise paid mods will encourage every thief imaginable to come out of the woodwork. This is in addition to the fact that Bethesda would need to bring up the quality of the base game greatly in a number of ways like story, quests, NPC AI etc...
  10. The process: Step 1: Before completing "Reunions," complete all main and both side quests (once each) for the Brotherhood of Steel recon team. Talk Brandis down from being crazy. Step 2: Complete "Reunions" and "Dangerous Minds." (For proper completion, keep Preston at the Castle.) Step 3: (a) You will have received "Tradecraft" and "Shadow of Steel." DO NOT advance in either of these quests. (b) Focus on the Minutemen as you continue down the main quest line. Use the Minutemen to gain access to the Institute. © Get yourself banished from the Institute. You can play along and poke around for a bit first if you like, but if you do, you'll have to murder someone to get banished (might we suggest those bastards down in synth retention?). You may safely complete "Institutionalized," but do not progress any farther before getting yourself kicked out. Don't even speak to Father again after completing "Institutionalized." DO NOT complete "Synth Retention." (Give holotape to Sturges.) Step 4: (a) You will have received "Form Ranks" for the Minutemen. DO NOT advance this quest. (b) DO NOT start "Defend the Castle." Don't even go to the Castle. © Complete all quests for the Brotherhood from "Shadow of Steel" to "Show No Mercy." DO NOT complete "Show No Mercy." Don't even get on the Vertibird. Grab ALL side quests from the Brotherhood and keep them open. Step 5: Complete "Form Ranks" and "Defend the Castle." Start "The Nuclear Option" for the Minutemen but DO NOT complete it. Step 6: Complete all Railroad quests from "Tradecraft" to "Randolph Safehouse 6." Step 7: Complete "The Nuclear Option." That's it! This process will result in all factions loving you. The heads of the Brotherhood will praise your actions (except Max, who is pouting and won't talk to you). From here on out, they will not start fights and will only kill mutants and raiders. Many of their quests and side quests are repeatable. The Railroad has a whole new line of quests for you, and there is fun to be had everywhere (however, don't talk to P.A.M. after this; she wants to start a war with the Brotherhood). Enjoy your (relatively) peace-filled Commonwealth!
  11. The 1887 shotgun already kinda exists. There is a mod for the 4570 on the nexis that lets you mod it into one.
  12. Eh I have no problem with paying modders for their work if and only if 1: They can decide to release their mods for free if they choose. 2: They know some basic economics (IE you don't need to charge $10 for something that sells 50k times over) 3: If they get payed they need to pay attention to their work and make sure it aint buggy as hell. 4: The modders should get at least a 50% cut of profits from their mods. 5: Probably the most important. Bethesda must have at least a few people policing their site and another 1-2 handling piracy complaints at any given point 24/7. 5B: They must also have very strict punishments for mod theft, unless your doing things like invalidating CD keys and issuing steam hardware bans mod theft will not stop, especially if their is monetary incentive to do it. If they did all that then I would be all for payed mods. Given what bethesda and zenimax have shown us so far however I severely doubt how well they will handle paid modding however.
  13. I also don't have much faith in what will be done once they do require you to link your game and steam account. I say this for 2 reasons 1: They will need at least a couple people at any given moment to police the site & 2: For stolen mods they will need to have harsh punishments like steam account bans and to revoke CD keys. Without harsh punishments and someone to actually police the site there will be nothing to diminish thieves, the 3 weeks to a month for a piracy complaint sure wont do a damn thing.
  14. Honestly the fact that they didn't require you to link your game and steam account to the tools needed to upload the mod shows a severe amount of apathy and ignorance. The fact that they are giving a grace period of months before they are doing this and not sticking more people on it also stinks of apathy. Then the fact they have almost nobody policing Bethesda.aids is just plain idiocy at its finest. If I were an author I would at this point make my mods contain the code to detect console use & tons of interracial midget rape porn that started on any save being loaded and could not be stopped short of shutting down the console.
  15. Few that I would suggest http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2228/? armorsmith extended, depending on the version can be an outright cheat or quite realistic. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11075/? to give you buddy some armor like the raider dogs have. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6443/? minute men overhaul. Takes them from equiped with crap to decent gear, that gets better the higher your level. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12653/? critical hits outside of vats. Based off your luck and agility. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13193/? to get empty bottles back after you drink something. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9343/? overhauls the damage of ballistic weapons to be based on the ammo type. Also gives options for receivers to change ammo type. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13860/? lets ya turn that lever action rifle into a lever action shotgun. I would also suggest one of the various mods that lets you craft virtibird sigil flares & possibly one that lets you craft virtibirds themselves. There are a few that rewquire rather rare components and high end perks.
  16. Maybe, I'm not going to preorder & slap money down for another expansion pass though thats for sure. Then again if you pay attention to real world economics anything releasing after the latter half of the 2020s may not happen at all.
  17. Those rooting for the NCR are forgetting something that was central to the new vegas war. The NCR no matter how tied up in bureaucracy is still a democratic republic. Many soldiers and civilians noted in new Vegas that the protracted war with the legion played a very heavy toll on the republic and that many people were darn near ready to oust the president and other leadership because of it. So no while the brotherhood likely would not win outright (they do have the tech and weapons to at least draw it out for a very long time) they could cause such a loss of numbers that they could cause the NCR to either quit or call for a treaty. The longer it takes for the conflict to happen also means the stronger the BOS is likely to become due to their cleaning areas of mutants drawing the admiration of humans and the fact that they are openly recruiting.
  18. While it's about damn time that they linked the site to steam accounts, it wont accomplish anything unless they have a full time staff to monitor the site and hand out strict punishments for mod theft. And by strict punishments I mean disabling CD keys and possibly even steam hardware bans. Without a full time staff it just takes too long to get a stolen mod taken down if it gets taken down at all, and without strict bans like these the little thief shits will just continue to steal stuff.
  19. Well at the end of new vegas depending on your choices them heading east would be a possibility. So while them settling down somewhere along the way is more likely they could have ended up on the east coast seeing as according to the lore they had a tendency to not be too far from trade caravan routes. (And those routes do go all the way east)
  20. Honestly after playing around with it I wish they had taken the time to do story content. Everything added by contraptions & wasteland workshop was either already in game files (just couldn't be placed in build mode) or could have been added by modders without much hassle (few days-week or 2 worth of work for most established modders) Some of it was already in existing mods too. But I get it, Bethesda is a company & they have realized that there is a market for this stuff so they will milk it dry. Just feels like a waste having them do it instead of making more official story/mission content.
  21. AS Beth said give it a year or so and you will be able to make an entirely different game. There are also several big mods already in the works like http://falloutmagnifico.com/ Lone Star.
  22. Too bad the adult mod site isn't further along in development. You could DRM your mods with stuff to make invulnerable death claws graphically rape people to death whenever they load a saved game if it detects it on a platform you the mod author has not made it ready & released it on. Short of that however you can still DRM your stuff though cant you ?
  23. /o\ Even if it was a joke and faked there are still tons of things someone with a malicious mindset could do. As for bethesda stopping mod support. I doubt they ever would no matter what the mod community did to consoles. At this point their games pretty much have to have mod support or the sales will suffer greatly. Has been true for PC side for years and even with the problems allowing consoles to support mods, once they do it taking it away would be bad business. I just wish they had talked to the modding community and thought it all out more before hand, they could have easily saved themselves a headache.
  24. You do realize that as if right now and likely for several more moths untill they completely change the site anyone can upload any mods to the bethesda site. All they need is a disposable email account. Bethesda does not track who uploads mods, and even if they did all you would need is a way to mask your IP address, something that isn't that hard to come by. All DDProductions did was show that it was possible to brick a console using mods. The fact that allot of people haven't actually been bricking consoles shows the restraint of the modding community and their patience with both the lil shits on the consoles and Bethesda.
