  1. I am trying to figure out what is going on with my mods. I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to figure out what mods were causing my game to crash when I was starting a new game. I found that if I have more than 99 mod checked (in NMM) the game crashes... It doesn't matter which 100 mods I have checked, it will crash every time. This started with sometime after the Dragonborn DLC. Just putting this out there so others will know; also if anyone knows how to fix this I would love to know how.
  2. Thanks, I am aware of this, but what I want to accomplish needs to be done from a script,
  3. Are there any other pages that are not listed you could point us to? A complete list of "undocumented" pages would be awesome!
  4. As a side note -- if this isn't possible does anyone know of anyway to change the way a light looks, other than enable/disable and moving it from point A to point B, via script. Any ideas on how I could make a light fade out and then fade back in would be great!!!
  5. I am trying to adjust some settings for Light Objects (specifically radius & fade); after banging my head against the keyboard (and other things) for a few hours I am starting to think it is not possible. Any insite would be appriciated, thanks! This is for my Day/Night interior lighting mod found here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10933
  6. The link you posted doesn't go anywhere. :( They already said they would be releasing a DX10/11 patch just for speed purposes... I can't remember which -- If I find the article I will post a link here, I just assumed they would release an HD pack at the same time because they did promise us something that was not a console port... Honestly on the HD pack I don't care because the community will come up with something better anyway, but they should do it for the non-modders out there... Wow... Bethesda should go through and choose out like the 10 best mods at the end of the year -- pay each modder $50K as a prize or something and then release it as their HD pack to the masses.
  7. Discussion thread on that is here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/459068-construction-set/ Short answer: no date yet
  8. Nope -- not yet -- will have to wait for the Creation Kit to come out. Right now you can only edit the raw data files (textures, sounds, numbers, etc...) and change 1 thing into something else. There is no way (that I know of) to add to the game at this point. however, once the Creation Kit comes out it should be possible.
  9. See here for more information (which right now there is not): http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1255750-information-on-creation-kit/ I think they are working on releasing the HD textures and directX10/11 support as well... Would be nice to see tessellation but I don't think that is planned for TESV
  10. This thread should probably be moved to the Mod Requests thread... Something else that might help in immersion though. The map I generated in 3D and just top down. It might be possible for someone that is a better modder than me to somehow create a new filter for the map that would make it look more like a real hand-drawn map with a sort of topographical line theme. If your interested I would re-post something like that to the Mod Request forums. Also it might be good to add a compass heading to the map so you can tell which way you are facing while looking at the map.
  11. Thanks -- I have no idea at what point in my searches I dyslexiad the search term... Grrrr
  12. My understanding is that you would just use the FOMM and point it at your Skyrim directory. I will be trying this out in about 2 hours and will come back here and share what I find out. If you get to it before me please let us know!
  13. I'll see what I can do. It will be my first MOD for ESV. Thinking of making a few different markers and I will just add in one that is blank. Keep an eye out for it sometime this week... Hopefully.
  14. Wow... I feel dumb... Please don't read this Audio files are in the XMA format, more information can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMA_(audio_format) I haven't tested this but if I am correct you would need to use XACT to edit the audio files correctly, XACT is part of the directX SDK, I haven't found a separate link for just XACT, so here is the link to the directX SDK: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23776
  15. I updated the original post to include the links that I think are most helpful to people... As I get further into modding I will update this with more information. If anyone has other suggestions or more information please feel free to share! Thanks again!
  16. I don't know a direct answer to your question, but if you want to do a mod, you could just create an empty playerMarker -- I may do this for you if you want to wait. I want to change the player marker anyway because I think it is one of the worst graphics in the game.
  17. That is pretty impressive that you were able to get this running that way. Good Job!!! I would add this into your skyrim.ini file: [Papyrus] iMinMemoryPageSize=100000 iMaxMemoryPageSize=5000000 iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=1800000000 You may need to change the last file down to a smaller number. That sets Skyrim to use a maximum of 1.8 gigs of you computer memory. If you find it crashing you probably want to change it to something lower. My understanding is that by default it uses 500 megs max. This helped me with lag when moving from one area to another (inside to outside). The information can be found here: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=170 Once again, good job.
  18. I like the Hand Gestures & Run Errands ideas. Would be nice if we could equip/unequip specific items on them... Hopefully this is not hard coded into the game. Should add Make Noise / Cause Distraction into your Hand Gesture suggestions, then our follower could help us setup an ambush for the enemy. Sneak/Don't Sneak... I like the fact that when I sneak my follower sneaks, but I would like to be able to override this.
  19. I'm trying to figure out where to get started with modding ESV. I understand there are a lot of things we can't do yet until the creation kit is released, I am really looking for making direct adjustments to the graphics (meshes, textures, etc..) and sound files in the game. What am looking for some links on how to open the master files and what I should be looking for inside. As I get responses (and mess around with modding) I will update this post and eventually attempt to create a user-friendly FAQ. Any help the community can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!!! ------------------------------ Summary and Links ------------------------------ Thanks LadyAubrie (& Kudos) for your suggestions! Use the FOMM to extract files from the .bsa archives. FOMM can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 It looks like if you decided to user GIMP you will need to use the 32 bit version as I could not find a x64 dds plugin If someone knows of an x64 GIMP plugin let me know and I will update. You can download GIMP here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ you can download the GIMP .dds plugin here: http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/ If you use Photoshop a .dds plugin by Nvidia is here: http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop (If someone knows of a better one let me know) This official thread for the Creation Kit: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1255750-information-on-creation-kit/ -
