  1. First, make sure Steam isn't in the \Program Files directory. Windows UAC prevents a lot of mods from working. Use this guide to uninstall Oblivion, move Steam following this guide, then reinstall Oblivion. Second make sure you use some kind of Archive Invalidation or replacement textures won't appear. OBMM and Wrye Bash both have Archive Invalidation abilities and I'd recommend "Redirection" as you only have to do it once.
  2. Look up a NifSkope tutorial. Assuming you unpacked your textures, then all you need to do is set the file path for them in NifSKope.
  3. Open Oblivion.esm Frostcrag.esp and Harvest Flora - Frostcrag.esp in TES4Edit. Proceed to clean them both.
  4. It would vary depending on whether you have an ATI or NVidia graphics card. Google turns up a lot of results on the subject. If you have a specific question during the process though feel free to ask.
  5. Your game version should be on the main menu screen of Oblivion, or you can access by opening readme.txt in your \Oblivion folder. If your game is already patched to the latest version 1.2.0416 (GOTY Edition) then it won't allow you to apply the patch. You should only need to activate plugins via OBMM or Wrye Bash. After activating them there, opening the Data Files option from the game launcher (that runs when you plug the disc into your drive) will mess up your load order and could cause issues. Additionally, make sure you run the Archive Invalidation utility found in either Wrye Bash or OBMM and choose "Redirection". You only have to do Archive Redirection once and this solves an issue that can cause problems with textures added or changed via mods.
  6. The \My Documents directory is covered by Windows UAC so if you're on Vista or 7 you didn't sidestep it.
  7. Sounds like the script is hanging. This could be a hardware issue or it could just be that you don't have the requirements installed properly. Do you have the Shivering Isles DLC and OBSE v19 or higher? And, are they activated and working properly?
  8. Thanks for that guide. Of the 4+ I've been reading, they are all instructing to use features that aren't there anymore and have steps that are now automated. It was very slow moving and the dry text blurs together. A visual guide is much better. I finished the bashed patch section, although it now has errors in Mod Checker which look like random text to me. " cannot import name myole4ax", and the part about a mod icon changing to a dot didn't tell me if that's a good thing. I pretty much checked every box that was "Recommended" and "User Choice" except for some of the tweaks. Also, I don't have a saved game yet, and the end of that guide says to apply everything to a saved game. What do I do in that case? I have Boss installed already, and it doesn't seem like there are any conflicts or problems with the Load Order. The dirty mods are mostly the DLCs, saying "Contains dirty edits: 11 ITM, 2 UDR records. Needs TES4Edit cleaning:". There are a few in Harvest [Flora], and Bash Tag recommendations in almost everything. I haven't installed much on top of the official and unofficial mods yet. Once you get what you have working properly make sure you go in game and run around for a while just to test things out. I know there's a relatively steep learning curve but, If you think getting started is a PITA wait til you run into your first issues without having tested mods in batches... As far as Wrye Bash goes I got no clue as I've only used it for All Natural, it's really not necessary until you get into making other mods work with some of the major overhauls (OOO, MMM, FCOM, etc.) Edit: Also, BOSS assumes that you are cleaning the mods it suggests to clean as it builds your load order. Not cleaning them could result in mods not working properly and cleaning isn't very difficult at all just make sure to back up the original plugins. User made mods really should be cleaned but they aren't always. And Bethesda not cleaning the DLC is exactly the type of quality I'd expect from them. They make great innovative games, but don't bother to debug them to any reasonable level.
  9. Use an ID Finder to find out what items are missing meshes, then figure out which mod added said item, then dig around in that mod and your \Data directory to figure out what files are missing. "RefScope" and "Form ID Finder" are both worth mentioning. Also, I see you have the Vampires face fix for UOP. If you have the UOP Supplementals there's no reason to use the face fix, and if you don't have the Supplementals, get them. They're a continuation of Quarn and Kivan's work on the UOP since they stopped updating it years ago.
  10. RL's retroactive health should be calculated as followed: End * 2 + [(End * .1) * lvl] 55 * 2 + (5.5 * 8 ) 110 + 44 154 <-- the amount of health you should have. Check if there is a recalculate derived stats option or something similar. (RL recalculates attributes every time a skill goes up but I'm not sure about derived stats like health.) Also, you may want to play around with the secondary and tertiary attribute gains in RL's .ini. It tends to spread your stats more evenly compared to vanilla Oblivion.
  11. Yes, get the supplementals, but that probably won't fix your conflict. You'll just have to play with loading WAC first or last and if neither works I'd say just don't use it. The Unofficial Patches are pretty much essential to your Oblivion Experience.
  12. This is a known issue with Oblivion, there's at least two mods out there that fix it just search the Nexus for "Alt Tab". I personlly didn't have any luck with either of them but I think that's because I'm on XP x64. The most used workaround for this issue is simply don't alt+tab out of the game. Get "OBSE" and "Fast Exit 2". Also, "Windom Earle's" could be helpful for general crashes and "BOSS" is great though there may be one or two plugins in your load order you'll have to tweak manually. BOSS will also tell you if plugins need to be cleaned, cleaning plugins can increase FPS and reduce plugin conflicts. Get TES4Edit and google the guide to clean plugins. And most importantly, if you're running Vista or 7 and Oblivion is installed in the default \Program Files directory, you need to move it following this guide before you do anything else.
  13. BOSS sorts your load order for you. Occasionally the load order BOSS suggests isn't perfect so you may need to alter it slightly with OBMM or Wrye Bash. OBMM's load order sorting is a lot more intuitive than Wrye Bash's, just move them up or down in the list of plugins on the left side of the OBMM window.
  14. OBMM is more than capable of altering your load order. Also, BOSS is a very nice utility that does most of your load order sorting for you. With BOSS you may have to tweak it's load order a little for a handful of mods as complications arise in-game. On to your issue, if you're running Oblivion on Windows Vista or 7 and Oblivion is installed in the default \Program Files directory, Windows UAC can and will cause problems with modding. The first thing you should do in this case is move Oblivion to another directory such as C:\Games following this guide. If you're still having issues after moving your install, check your mods to see if they have any specific requirements, program dependencies, or if there are patches available for them (BOSS will tell you if a mod has any updates available). On a general note when posting for help, posting your system specs, load order (preferably in a spoiler tag) and any mods that don't have a plugin (such as OBSE) can be very helpful.
  15. An improperly configured OSR can definitely cause CTD. Try deactivating it to rule it out. If it turns out to be the issue, the readme and the comments in the .ini are pretty explanatory.
  16. Copy them to the \Data directory. There are very few files in the \Data directory on a vanilla Oblivion install because the vast majority of the information is stored in the .bsa archives. Then get OBMM and run the invalidation utility, choose BSA Redirection and you shouldn't have to do any more Archive Invalidation. Also, if Oblivion is installed in the default location and you're running Windows Vista or 7, the first thing you need to do is move it out of the \Program Files directory following this guide. Ex: C:\Games
  17. This is only relevant if you're running Windows Vista or 7. Windows UAC prevents mods from working.
  18. Is Oblivion installed in the default directory? If so move it out of \Program Files with the help of this guide. Also, plugins activated in OBMM are dynamic so your Data Files should be showing that plugin as active already.
  19. Sounds like your save file is looking for some asset in or around Leyawin that no longer exists. Have you recently uninstalled any mods?
  20. I've had strange CTD issues due to uninstalling mods myself (OMODs installed and deactivated in OBMM that didn't fully remove their traces). I'd say completely uninstall Oblivion following this guide, move your steam folder, then reinstall Oblivion and start adding mods one at a time.
  21. Make sure Oblivion isn't installed in the default directory. Windows UAC prevents mods from working properly. Report your issue to the author of the mod, Deadly Reflex 6 is still in beta. If all else uninstall 6 and try out version 5.
