  1. Obviously you've reset your ini files so checking there is probably useless... have you checked your graphics driver settings? I can't speak for Nvidia, but I know for ATI cards there are plenty of video and quality color correction options in the drivers' settings, including brightness and contrast.
  2. You wouldn't happen to have any screenies of what it looked like before, would you? tbh it looks normal to me... Y'know, bright sunlight on snow, surrounded by stone.
  3. I'm a huge SG fan too--if this project ever gets off the ground, I'd love to do voice-work and story writing. Heh I could be SG-26's Ancient-tech expert XD
  4. Truly random CTD's are rare. In my experience, most script based mods (like skyBirds, which I use with no issues) run into issues when they try to interact with another mod that they weren't designed to work with. Nothing anyone can do about that, unfortunately. However, if you're sure that the problem is caused by skyBirds' interaction with a DB mod, then I would try enabling skyBirds, and then disabling each Dragonborn plugin successively, and then running around in the game to test its stability. You may find a specific cell in the game that always causes a crash, which could make your testing easier.
  5. So I've recently been running around in the game, playing 'photographer' (aka screencapping). And just for kicks I decided to start collecting images of notable places or features like the standing stones, hidden shrines, and the castles/keeps in the hold capitals. So in keeping with this little trek, I was wondering if I could pick the community's brain for the locations of any coves, like Ancestor Glade, Eldergleam Sanctuary, Frostmere Crypt, etc., since those three are the only ones I know of. Also, any other ideas for things I should screencap would be great. :)
  6. And there are those, such as myself, who prefer to stay away from ENBs all together, if mainly because of the performance hit. Personally, I prefer to use the FXAA post-injector, because it's an overlay and I can change it during a game to suit my taste, just just turn it off without closing the game. As for layer mods over eachother, what I have taken to doing is categorizing mods based on what they change. As I said in my previous post, I use Skyrim HD, Static Mesh Overhaul, and WATER. I also install them in that order, because each one changes fewer (or different) things, but some of them overlap. So if two mods change the same thing and you prefer one change over the other, install the preferred one last. NMM gives you the option to overwrite some files and not others when you're installing a mod that overlaps with another. As for changing the INI files, that can sometimes be a tricky experience, for the exact reason you said. About the only thing I have changed in mine is I upped the number of exterior cells to load from 5 to 7, and enabled tree and rock self-shadowing. There is an excellent tutorial on tweaking the Prefs.ini here. As far as looking for the best mods, it may very well be subjective. The old adage "this is not a popularity contest" would immediately apply. However, looking at the mods that are the most popular would be at the very least a good place to start.
  7. Alright, well then could you post a BOSS log with all associated information? :)
  8. Well, to be perfectly honest, now that I'm digging around the CK I'm not really sure how to make a new nose, seeing as I can't find where the originals are kept. I'm looking into other options for you, so hold that thought lol
  9. Well, not to sound patronizing (but to be a little patronizing :P ) it's not generally a good idea to install a ton of mods at once if you haven't tested them before. Install them one at a time first, and run BOSS each time to minimize risks. As a note, Bethesda themselves have said that the only way to truly and completely uninstall a mod is to revert to a save prior to its installation. In other words, some mods may have permanantly changed parts of the game (in your save), so if you start the game with them, you're stuck with them. Don't be too hard on yourself for it. I have 105 mods active right now and just recently lost a 60 hour playthrough because I messed up script I was trying out. It happens to the best of us :) ripple, on 19 Apr 2013 - 21:40, said: Post your BOSS log (with the messages). Include the list of plugins not recognized by BOSS if one is generated. Enclose them in spoiler tags so they don't clutter the screen. also, this^

Same walk and run speeds Realistic Lighting Overhaul Point the Way Glowing ore veins and for system info in-game, I use Elys's MemInfo :D
  11. You may be able to do this with Expired's RaceMenu mod. If not, and you are comfortable with the creation kit, you could create a new nose from an existing one and add it as a character option
  12. If this starts happening suddenly, then a recently-installed mod is most likely the issue. It may be buggy itself, or it may take issue with another mod you have installed. If you don't already, I would reccommend using BOSS to sort your load-order. If you aren't sure which mod causes the crash and you've already run BOSS, try to think of everything in the cell you're in that may have been modified in some way, and check those mods.
  13. Don't know if you ever found a solution, but I had the same issue. I discovered that it was being caused by the Lush Trees mod by OpticShooter. As much as I like the mod, I disabled it, and everything went back to normal. I let Vurt's Floral Overhaul and TreesHD take care of the legwork now.
  14. I don't see why a little self-promotion would be against the rules, but I'm a college kid too, so maybe we just think alike :P Having said that, I like the mod. You done good lol In the spirit of sharing screencaps aka digital photography, I'm using my deviantart gallery for that express purpose haha
