The esp file I have "James invisible walls bug remover" is from the "Big Kahlua" download modified on 1-1-2008 I have a save just before I rested on the cot to arrive at Point lookout. The post I made is the only post on this subject that I have made so I'm not sure about the 2 topics thread you refer to?

I can't seem to be able to get anything to explode that will block the attic opening. Anyone else have this problem?
-
Is the game freezing or is the father just not responding?
-
Shouldn't there be a "navmesh filter esp" or is that for FOOK only?
-
I guess as long as there are tech.savvy people willing to aid modders and players by solving game companies problems for them then we'll all be happy. I'm not bashing Bethesda I think they're doing the best they can.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to stay on topic here and post other stuff in appropriate threads

I used that trick back in the day of Morrowind and it seemed to have worked. But I've never understood what a pagefile is or if it even affects the game. I do know that in the settings I have the option to assign a pagefile size to any drive along as they add up to no more than 12785 Mb. I just thought that since the game crashes at screen load it might be a memory problem :psyduck:
-
Ya! I should practice what I preach  Sometimes we make things allot more complicated than we need to. That being said, not all the problems are gone. I've had the game crash twice at Ten Penny tower both times it was during screen loading. What do you know about pagefile settings? I'm running the game on a separate SSD drive, should I disable any pagefile or assign a large pagefile size?

Game Freeze after being killed or in game load
Bitdman replied to PurityGex778's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Have you tried removing CASM? I hear that causes some players problems. Also check out my last post on the "stutter remover" thread as I have found the cause of most of what was causing the instability. -
What do the Light Fade and specularity Fade sliders do? Mine are empty, I think a mod must be controlling them.
-
I need to apologize to you and ccmechanic. I have sent you on a wild goose chase, so to speak. I have solved a lot of my crashing and stuttering problems by doing what I should have done first.....Check the data folders to make sure the mods installed correctly. I found a data folder in the data folder directory and unpacked it by hand, also found a meshes and texture folder in the meshes folder and another textures folder in the directories texture folder. After unpacking and deleting the extra content the game runs very smooth, even vats. It still crashed after about 3hrs of play but this is probably due to all settings being maxed out, dirty mods, or bad mod order

Sorry about the double post I didn't know the first post went through as I left the page and came back and it was gone :ermm: Fixed double post. Bben46, Moderator

Can I use ini lines from Oblivion stutter remover to help improve Fallout 3? and which lines should I look for to change? Are stutter problems when looking side to side and up and down also related to choppy VATS movement?

In my opinion after giving this guide a once over I think dirty mods are a reason of at least 7 out of 10 causes of instability and crash problems. Understanding the process of cleaning mods and proper mod order will eliminate all but hardware issues. Here is the link. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide A huge thanks to those that have created and maintain the tools to help make a good game Great.

So Should JIW be at the end of the load order below the FO3edit esp?

Game Freeze after being killed or in game load
Bitdman replied to PurityGex778's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Hello! First off! you have a group of very complex mods. Are you mod install savvy? If not you might want to start with just one, play, then add another if every thing is OK. Make sure you check out FOIP for patches. I am having the same problem but don't have those mods. Tom's hardware Forums also has a lot of information regarding these issues. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ I hope this helps. -
I'm not sure how to do that as the attachment is too large
-
Here I go again! Sorry but I don't know what to try,to solve this problem. I'll attach my mod load order. The problem occurs around the car dealership in section K-14 on the map. I'm going south from Megaton to get to the Arlington Library. Any ideas why?

I think that since the underlying issues (to the extent they can be identified) are likely to be game-specific, any such discussions belongs under the "Technical Support" forums for each game. OK! After spending the day reading about crashing "possible" causes I agree with Thandal. I think the problems are too diverse and must be dealt with on an individual basses. Thank you Thandal, bben46,and Arthmoor for your input. Like Maddog, We'll just have to 'keep fighting the good fight' Long Live the modding community!

Hello folks! This might apply to Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 and I think will be important if Skyrim ends up being an "unstable" game also. Can we make a list of the Top 'whatever 2 or 5 or 10' reasons for the games crashing? then post solutions to the causes. Right now there is information (mostly speculation) out there that is very confusing and seems to create as many or more problems than are solved. I think the game creators should deal with tis issue, but because many of the causes are "mod" related they won't get involved. I hope modders will get involved as well as game utilities creators so as to chip away at this nagging issue. What do you all think?

I got a FO3 has stopped working error after sleeping 7 hrs on the mattress on the scavengers platform just south of Fairfax.Prior to that my pipboy also had a problem with the world map screen it was blank except for the locations and the dots the rest was black. the local map and stats screen were OK. Does this make any sense to you guys? I should also add that I am using a gamepad and Pinnacle Game Profiler. As far as the GPU settings go, all I did was uncheck the boxes that allow the application settings the AA is X2,AF X4. my graphics card is a Radeon HD 5870 (not in crossfire). The CPU is a AMD 970 Black edition Quad core (all 4 cores unlocked and working) Is it possible for the graphics settings to be to low?

ccmechanic2 I was experiencing constant crashing in the Fairfax ruins area. Then I installed your esp file and moved it "in FOMM" to the bottom of the load order...(I'm not sure what is meant in the readme "Do not modify this file in fose.FO3editor", though. so I installed it in the game manually after "running FO3Editor" and dragged and dropped the esp check box to the bottom of the load order. I spent about 20 minutes running and jumping and firing my weapon and turning in circles. This would usually cause the game to crash but didn't. Either this is a coincidence or you have solved a major instability problem  Now I will begin to bump up my graphics card settings and post the results Also. I'm not sure if your mod alters buildings and terrain but as I walked south through Fairfax with a bus stop to the right and the last building to the left toward a pile of radiated barrels, there is a separation between the building and the sidewalk. I don't remember this being there previously.

One thing I want to know is. Has BethSoft learned from the instability problems related to Morrwind,Oblivion, and Fallout3 so we don't have to rely on other people to tell us how to tweak the game or our computers to play the best games to come out in the last two decades. Please Bethesda say you have solved these problems

No, in no way will anything "( but alteration or improper loading of the file)" will effect it's function. Ini tweaks effect game function and engine function also but it wont have any baring on my code. The only thing found that changes this fact is incorrect use of other tools , like fomm or fo3 edit mastering. I have seen attempt's to change or tamper with my code result in crashes, they admitted useing various tools so nothing was hidden. I know and realize there are those that will try. This is understood. I have given all information in regards of use of this code so there can be no mistakes. The credits shows the good folks whom have done the testing. And really hammered it good to try and trip it up. No good. it rocks, and it does what I said it does. Heh! Both ways too! installed and done correctly it is flawless in function. Installed and messed with it will crash you game. So there you have it.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif Sweet! Good work!
