  1. Do NOT do this, especially if you are a modder. There are a ton of source scripts within the scripts folder that allow the use and editing of the scripts used within Skyrim, and if you delete those, then you just pretty much screwed yourself over if you ever end up planning to change a script or anything related within Skyrim, as you won't be able to edit them if you delete those. The only true safe option if you're reinstalling scripts, and want to go uninstall certain scripts is to go into the folders and individually remove each .pex file that was installed from a mod, and the corresponding .psc file in the "source" folder if the modder included those as well. It might be tedious, but you won't mess yourself over in the long run like you would if you just went a deleted your entire scripts folder. Well I sure didn't want to give bad advice, but making a clean save without scripts was the only cure I've known for save game bloat. In my experience things are ok if you reinstall the scripts. I just wipe mine clean and reinstall to make sure I get rid of anything NMM may have missed. After the update I watched my save file go from 8MB to 10MB, then 12MB and 14MB within 4 saves. They went down to 8.5MB after the clean save/reinstall.
  2. I had a bunch of issues after updating, saves not loading or crashing, save bloating, performance issues. Maybe I didn't need to, but here is what I did, and it kinda bites: 1. Delete your script folder- you will need to reinstall any scripted mods later. 2. Ideally- uninstall all mods completely. Yes, you will lose your modded armors and imaginator settings, etc etc At least- Deactivate all mod .esp's. You will still lose stuff. 3. Make clean save. 4. Get the latest SKSE and install the data/scripts folder it comes with. 5. Reinstall scripted mods. Try it then.
  3. Hello, I am having many issues with the area between the Guardian Stones and Riverwood, usually the end closer to the Stones. I get stuttering at cell loadings, random CTDs, and CTDs when I hit the pause (using xbox controller) I have spent days on this, and recently have been trying the pcb console command to trying to stabilize things. When approaching the Guardian Stones, pcb will generate the following in the console: pcb is not an interior is not playing GetStage >> 200.00 GetStage >> 200.00 Could someone please let me know what this means? Thank you in advance.
  4. As you can see my sun shines through the distant mountains at dusk- I use Realistic Lighting, any suggestions?
  5. Hello Well I wanted to let folks know that I think I found the issues. I'm not 100% certain, mind you, but I think the crashing/freezing/no loading was caused by 1. Terrain Manager settings in SkyrimPrefs.ini- I had been using a suggested setting to minimize z-fighting. I believe this was causing the non-loads and some of the CTDs. I reduced the values and so far so good. I use this: [TerrainManager] fTreeLoadDistance=100000.0000 fBlockMaximumDistance=350000.0000 fBlockLevel1Distance=80000.0000 fBlockLevel0Distance=45000.0000 fSplitDistanceMult=1.5000 bShowLODInEditor=0 2. VATS Settings as suggested by The Dance of Death description to get better ranged killmove chance. It was suggested with a warning of CTDs, which I did not see....heh   3. The random freezes with magic use was the Deadly Spell Impact mod. So yea! I can finally play! Except...now may saves are BLOATED......used clean saves, respawn then sleeping and possessive corpses, Mart's Debloatifier.... my saves never reached 8000KB now my saves are almost doubling with each new save...
  6. I hope someone with a better understanding of the game engine can help me decipher this mod related problem. I have the same issues in 2 difference exterior cell areas: In and around Karthwasten, and the area west of Riverhold on both sides of the river. I also suspect other areas. Problem is, I cannot load saves there, and pausing, combat, or just running around usually causes crashes, and magic or shouts usually causes freezes. I quickly discovered it was mod related after I reinstalled the game as well as all mods through NMM and everything worked fine. So what I did was go to Karthwasten and add each mod one at a time, load, then save, then check the load. Then I would run around, do magic, pause, etc etc trying to make it crash. I did this with mods first and then esps using NMM. I got all the mods installed but one- my last one- static mesh improvement. Then it would not load. I uninstalled SMIM and loaded the clean save before I installed it, but the save would not load, none would.I repeated the process, vowing never to use SMIM. I began with the original clean save, but this time other mods triggered the problem- W.A.T.E.R., Sounds of Skyrim - Fire, Midas Magic, Super realistic ore textures.... I got it working leaving these and others out but when I fast traveled the problems returned. I tried PCB, I tried respawn and sleeping 48 hrs, possessive corpses. I looked at those cells in CK but I don't know what to look for.... Any help would be appreciated!
  7. Hey, Yea I thought I had the (for me) Karthwasten bug fixed last week- because after deactivating a fire sound mod everything seemed to load and work fine- no freezes or crash. Then yesterday, I was coming on to the hunting camp on the way from Riverhold to Helgen, thinking about how I haven't crashed in a while. Then I crashed. It's very ODD, I always sense the crash before it happens. Save loads in Karthwasten hang again, fine everywhere else, but sometimes the Karthwasten saves load- about 10% of the time. Magic in the area usually triggers a freeze, not a crash. Anyway, that area outside Riverhold has caused problems for me before, same symptoms as Karthwasten. Going to try your fix! Update: Fix did not work for me, I thought it would but my problem must be different. I then started a new game and fast traveled to Karthwasten as soon as I got out of Helgen- and it would not finish loading. So I'm stumped.
  8. Hi Before I sift through my mods, I was wondering if anyone else has had crashing, freezing, or corrupted saves in or near Karthwasten? It is a little settlement near Markath. I get random crashes in and around there. Sometimes it freezes. Any save made within sight of the village fails to load. Using magic there often triggers a freeze. Sometimes I can run all around with no problem. I have done a quest there no problem. Killed a dragon in the center of town no problem. Weeks ago the crashing there was consistent, now its random. Only thing I could find online- http://www.freefrag.com/skyrim/20862-crash-every-time.html Thanks for any info!
  9. Hello folks I often have stuttering during the opening menu screen- the mist freezes intermittently. Also when this happens I get delayed response in the load menu. I often get delayed response when making a save first time after loading. If this happens and I try to load that save, It just loads and loads until I have to kill the process in Task Manager. However- if I save again, there is no lag in the menu and the 2nd save will load fine. Same with the main menu- if I restart the game the main menu and load menu will be fine. I know this not as bad as other issues but I've had it since 11/11/11 and I just had to ask. Now I do have My Documents on a separate HD, a WD 5900rpm 2TB. Skyrim is on a OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD Windows 7 on a Crucial M4 128GB SSD 16GB 1600 DDR3 i5-2500k ATI HD 6790 1GB I have tried moving my documents to the SSDs but Skyrim wont recognize the location even after reinstalling steam and skyrim. I moved My Documents to the HDD because I want to preserve my SSDs. Is it possible to move the skyrim folder found in Documents\My Games? If you got this far and still wanna help bless you!
  10. Hello Once I poison a bow, it stays poisoned, even after repeated use. Is there a mod which affects this?
  11. Yes, I do know that, but it is like that even when I toggle ENB off, in fact it seems to look washed out in closer areas with ENB off- I'm no expert, I just use whatever looks good. I do use ENBpatch as well, however.
  12. I get this usually during overcast or stormy weather. See how the background trees are washed out? Happens with distant land too, not just trees.I use realistic lighting with enb enhanced shaders and revamped exterior fog, but had this before RL and the fog mod.
  13. Here is an immersion idea: Would it be possible to have a mod that puts a door chime or knocker on doors, or allow you to knock on the door? If the NPC was home and welcoming, the door would open after the knock without having to activate the door itself. Of course the option to just barge right in would not change.
  14. I've seen this with any character who isn't within a certain range of 1.0 (I have a follower who is 0.85 and she grows when sleeping, etc). I think they just took a shortcut with the stock animations and characters who aren't "1.0" scale give it away. Hi- I opened the skyrim.esm with CK and all the children have a 1.0 scale for the child body type, did you mean they took a shortcut with characters who are adult race size? I noticed this happens when they sit down too.
  15. I hope someone else has had this, in the Riften orphanage a child walked over to the cooking pot and used it, he literally expanded into adult size. When he stopped he shrank back down to child size. The size change was a smooth quick transition. I also saw this before but I didn't make much of it, I figured it was an isolated incident....
  16. I've been looking all over- I use Skyrim HD, The Sexy town replacers, Redefined dungeons, but nothing seems to cover forts. Can't find anything on Nexus either. I hope I don't have to resort to Steam workshop.
  17. Well I still have the problem. At one point all my save said they were corrupted. So I reinstalled Skyrim, they load now but still not from the in game menu. So I deactivated all mods including root folder ones like ENB and SKSE, uninstalled steam, did an error check on all my drives, scanned with Bitdefender and Malwarebytes, reinstalled steam, re-reinstalled skyrim, started a new game, and STILL the saves will not load from in game. They load fine from the start menu. So if I want to load a game, I need to exit to the main menu. If my character dies, I need to ctrl-alt-delete, open task manager, kill the TESV process, and restart the game.
  18. Having a problem where I cannot load save from the in game menu. about 3/4 of the time, when I load a save, any save, the loading screen just hangs forever. I can move the object on the screen but that's it. Same saves load every time from the start menu. Has anyone else had this?
  19. LOL sounds like Steam is run by the Feds. Honestly, I do not condone game pirating or theft but I can understand why some do it.
  20. So yea I installed the HiRes DLC textures when they came out, played with them for about 5 minutes then decided they looked no better than the old ones. Compared to textures like the Sexy textures line, SkyrimHD and Serious Landscape, they are total garbage. I unpacked them into folders in archives and used Mod Manager to install them, overwriting with the better texture mods, so the only DLC textures used were the ones that weren't covered by texture mods from Nexus. So today, I got sick of having loading freezes whenever I load a save from in the game. So I went to verify the local content with Steam. I never thought of the DLC until the verify finished and began downloading the DLC again. I couldn't stop it- only pause it. Had to wait 35 minutes for the thing to finish and even then I cannot opt out of the crappy DLC. So now anytime I want to verify content I will have to put the DLC BSAa and ESPs in my game folder from my storage drive. I use a 60GB SSD for my game drive and cannot afford to keep 3GB of unused data on it. What a scam! It's so ironic that a game without boundaries in which you can do anything you want is governed by a draconian program that prevents you from changing your mind. Their attempt to out do Nexus with 1-click modding removes flexibility and options when adding mods. With steam, everytime you click the Skyrim launcher your steam mods get taken out of your load order. Then you have to refer to the BOSSlog to see where they go. I believe steam is going to regret not giving players better options because it will drive them away. I'm gonna stick with good ol Nexus from now on and keep Steam in ever offline mode.
  21. I got sick of the Distant LOD mountain flickering, but the fix for that in the Skyrimprefs.ini caused landscape tiling around my character even with HD textures. So after a lot of googling I came up with these settings, which stopped flickering, removed tiling, and greatly increased detail for me. I'm still exploring with these settings. If your rig can run it try them in your SkyrimPrefs.ini: [TerrainManager] fTreeLoadDistance=125000.0000 fBlockMaximumDistance=110000.0000 fBlockLevel1Distance=0.0000 fBlockLevel0Distance=0.0000 fSplitDistanceMult=4.5000 bKeepLowDetailTerrain=0 bLandscapeBlend=1 [LOD] fLODFadeOutMultObjects=17.0000 I'd love to know if these help anyone else, of course it varies for everyone due to the many combinations of hardware. My specs: i5-2500k @ 4.2Ghz with turbo boost on HD 6790 HIS IceQ X 1GB 16GB 1600 RAM
  22. Sorry if this has been covered already. This is obvious to some, but others may find it useful. So you want to use the new HD DLC textures without overwriting your custom textures? To me, this is "filling in the cracks". I use a large tex mod like Skyrim HD as a base and add the smaller specific mods I like best on top. 1. First you need a bsa browser, like this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1395 you also need a file manager like 7zip. Unzip BSA Browser to a new folder on your desktop. 2. Run the BSA exe in the new folder. Go to File>Open> then navigate to your skyrim data folder. Find the HighResTexture pack 1 and double click it. 3. You will see the file names listed. Create a new folder on your desktop and rename it the name of the bsa file or something so you know what it is. Go to Action>Extract to> and select the empty folder you just created on your desktop. The files will extract to the new folder. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for HighResTexture pack 2. 4. If you want to add the textures manually without Nexus Mod Manager, just place the ones you want in the appropriate Skyrim/Data/textures folder. If you want to use the Mod Manager, read on. 4. You will need 7zip to create an archive. Open 7zip File Manager and navigate to your desktop. Highlight the HighRes texture folder you created and click the green arrow, "add", and click "OK" in the new window. The archive will be created on your desktop. Do the same for the 2nd texture pack. 5. You now have 2 archives to use and you can pick and chose with texture to use. I personally just added the texures and chose to not overwrite anything, thus preserving Skyrim HD, Flora overhaul, etc.
  23. Actually Simple Borderless Window does TRY to expand, the borders disappear but the displayed image stays the same size. It's like something is interfering with the "black bars" you see when a 1080 resolution is on a 1920x1200 monitor. With SBW, its like the black bars are missing and the image is pushed up to the top edge of the screen. Without SBW the black bars get pushed out by the distorted image stretching from 1080 to 1200.
  24. Hi Yes I suppose that is true, I just seem to get better quality with the same performance at 1080. Could be a placebo. My main concern is to find out why this happened as to not be an issue in the future with other things. Simple Borderless Window works but the window does not expand. I will continue to tinker.
  25. I'm beginning to lose faith. This weekend I reinstalled skyrim and my mods AGAIN, but the results were great. Then last night I saw the ATI 12.2 driver was out, so I decided to try it. As usual I uninstalled 12.1, used driver sweeper in safe mode, then installed 12.2. I use a 24" monitor with 1920x1200 native resolution. I run skyrim at 1920x1080. Never had a problem doing that, but after the new driver Skyrim gets stretched to 1920x1200 while in 1920x1080 in full screen mode. the 1080 resolution displays fine in windowed mode only. First I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled 12.1 no dice. Turned off Radeon Pro and disabled its service. deleted the skyrim ini's and reset them in the launcher. I uninstalled the monitor driver and reinstalled. Nothing worked. New Vegas, on the same drive as Skyrim, opens in 1920x1080, so it must be a setting in Skyrim. I removed all the d3d9.dll's in my Skyrim root folder, thinking it could be enb- I had this issue before with the limiter, but no change. I tried turning v-sync on and off in the ini's and in radeon pro. No change If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.....
