  1. I haven't done any modding since Morrowind and I'm not wanting to do anything ambitious. The thing I want to do is replace the Imperial sword in game with another for all Imperial soldiers. Not by retexturing it myself but replacing it with another weapon from a mod. What tools do I need and how do I do this? Sorry to be so dumb. A link to some simple tutorials is fine. Just though I'd ask here for straight to the point advice rather than the misinformation I will gather elsewhere.
  2. The surprise is that Bethesda have been monitoring this forum and and all those who have complained about the creation kit and been childish little weeners games will stop working on tuesday.
  3. I know this isn't quite what you are on about but it might help. Check the from user images for some good comparisons of before and after. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4834
  4. I downloaded the latest version of SKSE after the patch and have installed as instructed. When I use the SKSE launcher to run skyrim the command box pops up and then screen goes full screen as if Skyrim is about to start but it doesn't and just returns to the desktop. My PC gives me the same message about incorrect screen resolution as when I quit skyrim but in this case Skyrim has never ran.. ? Starting skyrim without the launcher does of course not detect it.
  5. I did something similar making a proper bandit. I added him to the bandit faction and and roamed the countryside hunting and dungeoneering I only ever approached towns if it was for a raid. In which case I ran in stole some stuff I needed and legged it back out.
  6. First of all I think it is mighty impressive of Bethesda to come up with this reasonably interesting political situation which has arisen to probably over 500 posts on the subject in this forum alone. In my opinion neither is a particularly advantageous position in the eventual fight against the Thalmor if anything the Empire should allow Skyrim to secede from them (though perhaps a quiet assassination of Ulfric should be carried out first). Under the condition of Skyrim independence there would some kind of secret treaty (consider the thousands made in and around WWI) that would pledge the support of Skyrim's armies if the Empire entered a war with the Thalmor. If taking a side if forced then to destroy the Thalmor (a good eventual aim) I would suggest siding with the Empire as the Stormcloaks are not experienced infrastructure builders like the Imperials and it would take them some time to raise an army of any significance while keeping some level of production up at home. The racism of the stormcloaks harm them a lot and not just because I don't like racists. One can assume the Stormcloaks may well drive out the elven races from Skyrim losing a large farming community and sacrificing much of the chance of an alliance with the still Dark elf controlled northern Morrowind. The nords show utter disdain for Argonians and Khajiit scuppering many allegiances they can make with them. Nor are they exactly keen on the Redguards. You could suggest that through utter hatred of the Thalmor an allegiance could be seen but what of the end of the war surely both Skyrim and Cyrodil would be completely descimated, the Redguards are already weakened though their war with the Thalmor. I can see the beginning of Argonian dominance if the Thalmor are defeated by an un-united Empire while the Empire could probably hold some power if it fought the Thalmor as a united force.
  7. Perhaps theres two there is definitely one in Windhelm though.
  8. I see that lots of people mentioning in their posts about character history etc.. It seems like many in this community like me make up and story for their character and govern the actions that they carry out in game following a moral code that they lay out or some other kind of code to improve their game play experience. Anyway the idea is describe your character maybe add a picture if you've got one and describe any RPing you do. Name: Age: Race: Class: Story: Special Habits: Anything else: So here are my two main character I play: Name: Marcus Junius Libre Age: 34 Race: Imperial Class: Ranger/Soldier Story: Late of the Imperial Legion has moved to Skyrim to purse his passion of the Dwemer. His father was a explorer who told him tales of Dwemer ruins he had plundered in his youthful days in Morrowind and of the great treasures to be found there. Since his childhood and his fathers death in the great war Marcus has studied the Dwemer and has finally come to Skyrim to explore the fabled Blackreach. In the meantime Marcus will earn money to fund these expeditions selling his skills as a soldier (Companions) and hunting the many wild animals that roam Skyrim. Special Habits: Hunts all large antler deer never giving up. Collects mudcrab chitin. Anything else: Carries his fathers sword 'Arondight' a longsword his father used as an explorer and later a soldier. Has no side in the civil war respects the Stormcloaks sense of honour but could never kill a fellow Legion man. Name: Shrag Age: 21 Class: Barbarian Story: Abandoned at birth by his parents Shrag fell in with the skyrim bandit clans and now lives alone hunting and plundering Falkreath hold. Special Habits: Never hunts on Mundas. Spends his time looking for a nice hat in Skyrim never quite found one he likes. Anything else: This character is played as a Barbarian and a fugitive. The rules I play with don't allow him to enter towns and civilisation. I used the console to add him to Bandit faction and the only times he enters towns and villages is to plunder them resulting in large bounties in all the holds. Anyway share yours if you so wish. I encourage pictures and apoligise for the lack of my own. - If this has been done and I haven't noticed it or should be placed in another area of the website I'm sorry.
  9. No though 1.4 is supposedly just around the corner.
  10. I just love how many people were like ah Skyrim! The soldier was definitely one of the best responses.
  11. People complain because they see Skyrim as a cut down version without adequate testing done or Q&A to meet their release date of 11/11/11 personally I would've been happier with a better later Skyrim just as I will be happy with a better later CK.
  12. Erm perhaps try setting the stage for one of the special jobs to 20 or 0 and see if you get anything. Otherwise I dunno - do you have any mods running that could be causing this glitch try disabling them etc.. This does sound quite irritating so good luck :)
  13. Obviously a slightly strange glitch but hopefully it can be sorted out, try: - Assaulting a member of the thieves guild this will cause you to be expelled you will then need to make reperations, this can sometimes reset the characters actions towards you. - Alternatively if you are playing on the PC try using console command: getstage TG01 if this is less than 200 set it to 200 with command setstage TG01 200 . Then if that doesn't work use command setstage TGleadership 0 to begin the 'Under new management' quest. Or else just google it is almost invariable that someone else has shared your problem and may know the perfect way to fix it.
  14. You're using the wrong hands for your cutlery unless your left handed - in which case you are the spawn of satan.
  15. Check the UESP the two quests you mentioned are radiant quests so will be listed under there instead. Search the UESP for the names of the people who gave you those quests.
  16. I have two characters I have played since Morrowind a adventuring aristocrat Imperial who wears heavy armor and likes a good sword fight. He's relatively good but when confronted with the chance to gain some power he is happy to screw people over though he would never kill an innocent. I also have an a-moral dark elf who worships Azura and runs around doing whatever suits him killing, looting burning with magic he's a spell sword and descendant of a outlander Telvanni.
  17. I chose to side the Mercenaries. We can assume that they are from Hammerfell (my assumption was that they are and are loyal to that region). Hammerfell has seceded from the Empire and forced the Dominion out I do not see why they would want to bring someone to justice for speaking out against the dominion. It doesn't make sense that the reguards who are strong willed enough to split from the empire of the WGC are prepared to play puppets to the Thalmor. I can also see the Thalmor deserting someone who helped them fairly easily especially if they weren't Mer. The thalmor show obvious disdain to non-elven races and would probably rather betray a human who had helped them rather than stick them in some kind of witness protection program.
  18. Lack of time and balance issues they've obviously tried fairly hard to make the decision between Stormcloak and Imperial a fairly even one if the legion had mages it might sway it for many people. They could of course have countered it with something but then that would have been a lot of work eh?
  19. Erm what? ^^^^^ In Hinduism, the cow (Sanskrit: go) is revered as the source of food and symbol of life and may never be killed. Hindus do not worship the cow, however, and cows do not have especially charmed lives in India. It is more accurate to say the cow is taboo in Hinduism, rather than sacred. History of the "Sacred" Cow Cow in Pune, India. Photo: Ville Miettinen. Wandering cow in Delhi. Photo: Roshnii Rose. Dressed-up cow in Goa. Photo: Dey Alexander. Processing cow dung (gobar), which will be put to many uses. Photo: Eli. In ancient India, oxen and bulls were sacrificed to the gods and their meat was eaten. But even then the slaughter of milk-producing cows was prohibited. Verses of the Rigveda refer to the cow as Devi (goddess), identified with Aditi (mother of the gods) herself. Even when meat-eating was permitted, the ancient Vedic scriptures encouraged vegetarianism. One scripture says, "There is no sin in eating meat... but abstention brings great rewards." (The Laws of Manu, V/56) Later, in the spiritually fertile period that produced Jainism and Buddhism, Hindus stopped eating beef. This was mostly like for practical reasons as well as spiritual. It was expensive to slaughter an animal for religious rituals or for a guest, and the cow provided an abundance of important products, including milk, browned butter for lamps, and fuel from dried dung. Some scholars believe the tradition came to Hinduism through the influence of strictly vegetarian Jainism. But the cow continued to be especially revered and protected among the animals of India. By the early centuries AD, the cow was designated as the appropriate gift to the brahmans (high-caste priests) and it was soon said that to kill a cow is equal to killing a brahman. The importance of the pastoral element in the Krishna stories, particularly from the 10th century onward, further reinforced the sanctity of the cow. Cow-Related Practices The cow remains a protected animal in Hinduism today and Hindus do not eat beef. Most rural Indian families have at least one dairy cow, a gentle spirit who is often treated as a member of the family. The five products (pancagavya) of the cow — milk, curds, ghee butter, urine and dung — are all used in puja (worship) as well as in rites of extreme penance. The milk of the family cow nourishes children as they grow up, and cow dung (gobar) is a major source of energy for households throughout India. Cow dung is sometimes among the materials used for a tilak - a ritual mark on the forehead. Most Indians do not share the western revulsion at cow excrement, but instead consider it an earthy and useful natural product. Despite their sacred status, cows don't seem very appreciated in India. Visitors are often surprised to see them walking neglected around city streets, living on garbage from the gutters. But the cow is honored at least once a year, on Gopastami. On this "Cow Holiday," cows are washed and decorated in the temple and given offerings in the hope that her gifts of life will continue. 20. You can use a console command to enter the dawnstar sanctuary the coc location one either use the console or uesp to look up the location code. This could work as to not being able to explore certain areas I suppose that is the sacrifice we have to make. This is not meant as any ill will to you as I understand your frustration in this particular situation but it always tickles me when people complain they cannot access certain things without joining a faction or something. The choices you make should limit or aid you in someway this is what roleplaying is about otherwise it's just a sandbox game.
  21. I had a similar problem which was solved when I noticed that for some reason when I extracted mods the .esp was getting stuck in a ghost data folder. I had to move the .esp's out of this folder and into the main skyrim data folder. I also had to copy the textures and meshes of the mods into the actual data folder. I don't know why it happened but maybe this will help you.
  22. Are you playing on a console? Otherwise use your in game console to set quest stage to after this has happened and also use it to teach yourself the word. Otherwise bad luck.
  23. I know you can use Modio to extract xbox game saves and play them on your PC but I don't know if you cant do it the other way around with modded quests. If you do that research and tell me what to do I will be happy to help.
