  1. Chucksteel we are complete opposite in our thinking, I honestly don't understand how you think money will make mods any better, the only reason why mods are so great right now is because of open resources and open information/tutorials, if money gets involved then people become competitors and instead of sharing freely they will hoard and keep things to themselves because wherever money goes...greed follows. And paid mods will most certainly not create 'teams' of modders who will make total conversations of the games like you imagine, those people still have real lives and real jobs and modding will always be in second place to that so when push comes to shove they will always choose real life priorities over modding. Before you can even make a total conversion you need to use assets from many other modders (like new meshes/textures/etc.) which right now is hard enough as it is with all the permissions, now can you imagine how IMPOSSIBLE this would be if you need to keep track to how much % of cash needs to go to what person in case paid mods were a thing? I can already see the drama unfold and these 'teams' that you so dream of will fail before they even get a chance to mod anything, unless of course they create all their assets on their own and spend several years building a mod, and as I explained above this is unrealistic because real life always has a way of nipping people in the butt. So as much as you want to believe money will make mods better, I 100% disagree. The basis of modding is the free distribution of knowledge and assets, how on Earth do you think money and greed will have any benefit in that? (I'm done talking about this subject now because I honestly believe some folks here are just delusional and they rather build pink fluffy castles in the clouds. /Ac3s out.)
  2. If I could earn money for mods I wouldn't spend time and love into it anymore and I would just make it as clickbait as possible with a ton of naked pics and boobies, after all, who wants to spend time on a fantastic mod that is directed at a certain small niche when you could just as well make a junkmod that every teen wants to download and they would gladly pay for it as well.(sex sells the best) If I mod now I do it for fun, but if money is involved I would most certainly drop that 'fun' part and creativity goes out the door, and instead I would try to market mods to horny teens which are by far the largest audience out there, just look at the number of download and endorsements on any mod that involves anything related to nude. (body mods, house mods with tons of half-naked ladies running around, female follower mods, and on it goes...) Quality versus quantity, I would go down the China Market route. Anyone thinking this won't affect the quality and diversity of mods needs a reality check, once money/greed is involved the whole game changes.
  3. So correct, right now everything is in the open and people are 'mostly' free to use assets from other modders as long as they have permission to do so, so mods literally build on top of each other and they become better as time goes on. If paid mods is a thing, then people become compeditors indeed, and then things will not be open anymore and modders will most likely no longer give free permission for anyone to use their assets nor will they discuss issues/solutions with other modders, which in turn causes overall mod progression to be much worse and I fear that in the end all you get are junk-mods, equivalent to that famous Horse Armor DLC. Mods are like idea's, they are meant to be shared freely because that's when they flourish the most, put them behind a paywall and it will be the opposite.
  4. I'm doing the same to Sanctuary right now, adding fences, leveling terrain, replaced the bridge, removing a lot of junk and dead bushes, making it more suitable to build on. and now with those containers I think I can finally make a settlement I can be proud of. I'm also using that mod that adds decent roofs to all the buildings there, its basically in that mod I'm doing all my personal edits.
  5. You don't need to create an entire settlement mod, all you have to do is place the containers or edit already existing containers through the Creation Kit (though you cannot use containers in-game that were build through the workshop since those are open for settlers to steal from). Building your own settlement in-game through the workshop is an integral part of the game imo and you shouldn't take that away, but for the containers its worth to consider going in the CK if you don't want thieving settlers, which is what I plan to do from now on. It aint perfect, but its good enough for me.
  6. I think you guys are taking this discussion way too far, mod authors can do with their own mods whatever they want. Though personally I would never pull down my mods because I spend so much time on them, not to mention other people helped me along the way so its not 100% my own work even though I have all the "rights" on it, it just wouldn't feel right to do such a selfish act and turn my back to those that helped me progress. Even if my mods got stolen and uploaded somewhere else, I'd be upset for sure but this is the internet after all, so one should be prepared for this to happen and not go nuclear when it does. Though stealing mods to get money from it is a completely different story, and this is why I hope "paid mods" never become a thing because without proper policing its going to absolutely destroy the modding community, the quality and quantity of mods are going to plummet leaving nothing but an empty shell in its place. And yes donations are nothing for 99% of mod authors, unless you have a popular mod like "The Unofficial Patches" that literally everyone uses, only that top 1% gets all the $$$.
  7. Okay so here are my findings so far and I'm very happy with them: -Manually place a container through the Creation Kit and enable the "No AI acquire" option, this will completely eliminate settlers from taking items out of that container. I only use my workbenches to store scrap and mods, all my weapons/ammo/fusion cores are stored in other containers, so now I moved all of my weapons/ammo/cores to another container that I placed with the CK with that option enabled and the settlers will not steal any of my items from it, nor will they steal any cores and hop into my armor suits. So now I will stop placing containers in-game through the workshop and simply place them manually through the creation kit instead, this way I can build a nice settlement and have my home in that settlement as well without settlers being massive thieving thugs, hurray! (tested it several times by spawning a deathclaw and looking how the settlers would react with the container that had all items in it, so I'm pretty certain about these findings.) You need to have a tiny bit of experience with the CK in order to do this, but for anyone else who wants to "fix" this issue with their settlers, now you know how to do it.
  8. I play on Survival, everything from a shell to a feather has weight. Thank you for the comment Mistame, but I want to build a settlement and store whatever I want without having to worry about my settlers stealing. And it doesn't matter if its the workshop or a container, settlers will steal stuff if they want to and I need a way to prevent this, they need to stay away from my loot at all cost. (I also tried building an inaccessible platform, but even there settlers can reach it because they sometimes 'teleport' up to it.)
  9. Like the title says, Is there a way to stop settlers from looting containers in settlements? I last played Fallout 4 a year ago but now I'm back into it, though I still have the same issue as before where settlers would go into my power suits and loot all the weapons and ammo from containers at Sanctuary, sadly I have not found anything that could prevent this. Ive got some experience with Skyrim modding so if there is not a mod for this released yet, maybe I could make a few edits myself to prevent this issue? I'm thinking about editing the settlers or the containers, but where do I begin and does anyone have some pointers in which direction I should be looking? Containers do have this "No AI acquire" option, and I could also try to set the Ownership to "Player" to see what that accomplishes, though that would only work for pre-placed containers and anything build through the Settlement Workshop will not work this way. Another option I'm thinking about is to simply create my own area in Sanctuary by deleting the navmeshes so that npcs simply cannot walk there, though I'd like to prevent this option if possible for various reasons. Any advice or possible fix for stopping settlers from looting my containers would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: found the fix that suits for me, if I place a container manually through the Creation Kit and have the "No AI acquire" option enabled on it, then the settlers will never take anything out of that container.
  10. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33392/? Maybe that can help you.
  11. I don't think it has anything to do with a quest Skivala, I believe its a few .BTR and .BTO files that I need but I have no clue on how to make them. Some mods can make .BTO files, but I have no idea how to get my hands on those .BTR files.
  12. Aragorn58 and me are unable to get the new LODs to prevent the snow from showing up, is there anyone else that could help me out please?
  13. I don't think DynDoLOD is the thing thats going to help me because that only seems to be working for objects, buildings and trees, but I see no mention there about the landscape terrain(texture/mesh) itself. I dont need any new building or tree LODS, its just the snow on that mountain is removed and replaced by grass, and then I also elevated a small part of the landscape to allow the player to walk up on that mountain. For my previous mod (Tel Nalta) someone else did this as well and he gave me a few .BTR files that had to be placed under "Data\meshes\terrain\tamriel", this is exactly what I'm looking for with Tel Avius as well. But sadly he never explained in detail how he managed to do this and he hasn't been on Nexus for over a year now.
  14. You have to keep digging into that chaurus until you find hes spit spell, then you have to keep digging into that spell until you figure out what .nif file it is using and where it is located, then you have to unpack one of the game .bsa files so you can actually get to that .nif file. Once that is all done you need to edit the .nif file with Nifskope, sometimes you can edit some settings there to change colors, if not, then you'll have to see what .dds texture files that .nif file is using, then you have to edit the .dds files and give it another color. If you edit something, make sure you copy it under the folder where the original file was supposed to be located at, loose files always take priority over files packed in a .bsa file.
  15. I'm making a mod called Tel Avius, which is located on a mountain but I have removed all the snow from that mountain. But from far away the snow still appears to be on there... After doing some searching I found out that I need to create new terrain LOD files, which is probably done with a program called "Oscape", but after trying it a few times I keep messing it up it seems. Every time I load the Skyrim.esm and the Tel_Avius.esp it seems that the cells where I placed my mod are missing the Heightfield, and if I generate the LOD it comes out as flat as a pancake. Could someone please help me out on how to use this program, or maybe even create these new LOD files for me. 16. 1. Sanctuary, for obvious reasons and its also my main town where I store all my stuff and have lots of settlers. 2. Abernathy farm, I made a really big farm out of that. And that's it, the Castle seems nice and might be my nr.3, but I really don't want to spend too much time into building yet another settlement, not to mention that radio there is constantly giving me misc. quests that I don't want.
  17. I'm not using automatics at all because I'm too lazy to always buy ammo. Plus I got a nice sniper rifle for long range, then a combat rifle for medium range and close range is the shotgun of course, insects and ghouls are dealt with a 10mm pistol. I'm probably doing like 20% headshots in this game, not much waste of ammo right there and I'm also using mods that bring up the enemy damage significantly so its probably best that I keep playing sneaky, rambo style will just get me killed.
  18. Lol my mods have nothing to do with that, they are player homes :) And while I agree with your point of view, I think this is more of an RPG issue then it is a "respawning" issue, people just want to make a difference in the game and actually feel like they made an impact on something. Respawning might have been faster in older games, but on the other hand you also had TONS of quests and areas that had a lasting footprint on how the player decided to handle those situations.
  19. I like that idea! Or maybe even a gunner counter-attack who search you out personally, would be nice to see some gunners in power armor coming after you with a note that states "REVENGE!" on their bodies or something.
  20. Posting silly answers to silly questions, what are you, 10? How about you re-read my post an realize that people have different RP imaginations, and what may seem silly to you is not silly to someone else, so who are you to state what is silly and what is not? And I'm sorry but who started throwing around words like 'dumb' and 'stupid', but enough of this, if you want your ass ripped there are other websites that can accommodate you with this. My nr1 issues with your posts is your use of inflammatory words, its not humorous to me in any way, in fact, your borderline insulting people with that. Lets see if you can bite your tongue and not keep going with the Drama, so now show me just how mature you really are.
  21. This thread is a question to help out Welka1982, how have you contributed to this? I think hes looking for answers and not some 'humor' that is completely useless, and the only reason why I stated that you should be quite is because you seem to do this on many other forum threads as well, not to mention you go with borderline personal attacks when someone has a different opinion than yours... I'm done now, don't want to make Drama for the D.
  22. What are you even talking about, some people like their own RPG element where they actually change the world with their actions, just like you like your own RPG story that you make up in your own head about more gunners showing up after they die (aka respawning). Its not rocket science to understand that people have different RP imagination going on, so stop acting like yours is the only one Mr. Dumb.
  23. Well, perhaps its best if you wait until the GECK is out and then you can make your own little mod where you search for every single bobblehead and magazine and place them all in vault 111 instead. But you would have to search for every single interior where they are originally located, so this can take quite a while for you to finish. Yeah you should be quite as well tbh, I'm getting tired of your semi-trollish comments all over this forum.
  24. Yup, but to be honest, which gaming company these days releases a near perfect game that does not require DLCs or constant patches? Thats old skool. I'm afraid that as long as people keep spending money on incomplete games and all their 'extras' that this trend will only become worse over time, and nothing spells PROFIT for a company than having to release multiple DLCs so they can basically resell their game for like 3 times the original value. If DLCs were free on the other hand, I would completely accept that.
  25. Your question is really confusing, how will you start a new game with your old character and keep all your stats? Do you want to keep all your current magazines and bobbleheads when you start this new game? I'm not sure how you can even accomplish those first 2 questions, but I guess in order to delete ALL magazines and bobbleheads from your new game you would have to make your own mod with FO4EDIT and delete all those items. If you have never used TES5EDIT for Skyrim or FO4EDIT then its probably not advised to try this on your own, or you might just ruin your game.
