  1. @RadoGamer You don't have "too much RAM", there is no such thing as too much RAM. As I said in my previous post, I run FO4 on machines with 32 and 64 GB of RAM. Rest assured that this is not the issue. @Di3sIrae Stop spamming about "EmptyStandbyList". In the same paragraph above you mixes up VRAM use and offloading to RAM in the context. "Normal size like 4096 or 14000", this is WRONG. 4 096 MB of RAM = 4GB, 14 336 MB of RAM= 14GB I've done A LOT of testing with the setting in enblocal, it has no effect what so ever. These tests was done with dual GTX 980 on a 32GB system, and RTX 2080 Ti on a 64GB system.
  2. This may help if you are low on physical memory, but in general those kind of tools are snake oil. It's like some years ago when you could buy "memory optimizing" software. All they did was flushing the working set or some other nonsense. There is no magic when handling memory in an operating system. Microsoft knows what they are doing and the memory management in Windows 10 is very efficient except for some very specialized workloads... Rule of thumb, don't mess with the memory manager, that goes for Windows, Linux, BSD, Unix, z/OS etc..... Jennifur68 has 16GB of G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3200mhz RAM, so I would advise to not fcuk around with bullshite tools like this. Jennifur68 also have a SSD so thrashing is a non-issue....
  3. Seems to me that you have covered most of the bases. My fps fluctuates wildly, from 80 fps (locked with ENB) down to 25-30ish... (RTX 2080 Ti) But it always climbs back up in less "noisy" areas. Don't know if this helps you, but a couple of things to try... 1. Lock fps with an ENB Set iPresentInterval=0 in BOTH Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4.ini MANUALLY. (I'm paranoid so I also change it in Fallout4_Default.ini. Lock fps in enblocal.ini Launch FO4 with a mod manager, do not use the FO4 Launcher, it screws with iPresentInterval=0 in the ini's 2. Run metrics collection before you start FO4 Use HWiNFO, https://www.hwinfo.com Start it in sensor mode and log values to a file. You can then read and compare sensor data with Generic Log Viewer, https://www.hwinfo.com/add-ons/ Wait until the drop occurs, play for another 5-10min, then exit the game. Check things like proc load, GPU load, VRAM load, temp (is it thermal throttling that screws with your game?) etc. in the file created by HWiNFO in the time interval just before the drop and forward. As I said, haven't a clue if this brings you anywhere, but I would start there...... Happy hunting... EDIT: Since you said "about 30-40min", thermals may be a cause. Windowed mode always drops my fps significantly, borderless or not, that is my experience on both GTX980 and RTX 2080 Ti. The windowed borderless "fix" always makes things worse on my rigs, regardless of other settings.
  4. Fallout 4 works fine on Windows 10 Pro. I've run it on two diferent PC-builds, one with an old Intel i7-5960X Extreme, Corsair Dominator DDR4 2800MHz (2x16GB), and dual MSI GTX 980, and another with AMD Threadripper 2950X, G.Skill Flare X DDR4 3200MHz (8x8GB) and Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti. Had my fair share of crashes due to faulty hardware and software related shite through the years, but when those are sorted, FO4 and other games works fine on Win10 Pro. Your description of the problem is kind of non-specific, not much hard facts to go on here.... 1. What is the BSOD error code & error text 2. Did you log sensor metrics over time and look at them at the time of the crash? I personally prefer HWiNFO, https://www.hwinfo.com Starting it in sensor mode and log values to a file. You can then read and compare sensor data with Generic Log Viewer, https://www.hwinfo.com/add-ons/ after a crash 3. Did you have any abnormal messages in the Windows Event Log (Application, Security and System) at the time of crashing? 4. Do you have any third-party anti-malware sw, or sw that periodically executes and that coincides with the crashes? 5. Do you have a PSU that can log data to file (input/output voltage, rail voltage, efficiency, temperature etc), for example like the Corsair AX1200i? 6. Do you overclock the system or any parts of it? 7. Did you log data from Windows Performance Monitor over time, especially the Memory, Network Interface, PhysialDisk and Processor counters? 8. ....and if you want to take it a step further you can enable process tracking in the Windows Event Log (Security), or take a look at NirSoft's ExecutedProgramsList or similar tools to get further insight into what is happening at the time of the crash. Point 2-8 is not primarily to pinpoint the cause, but to rule things out. Happy hunting!! EDIT: Process Monitor from Sysinternals may also be helpful.
  5. Happy to help, cool that it worked out!
  6. NMM saves all archives under <NMM-dir>\Fallout4\Mods afaik.
  7. As long as you have the plugins.txt (in C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Fallout4), and all the mods in ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data you should be fine. NMM places all files physically in the Data-folder, don't know if Vortex or MO2 does some virtualization trickery, but I bet someone else here can answer that! Good luck!
  8. In general it's not very difficult to transplant an exisiting installation from on PC to another. It depends on a couple of things though. Do you use a mod manager? I use NMM and have moved the whole installation to a new box, Win 10 PC to a new Win 10 PC. Have no knowledge of how MO2 or Vortex works Is Steam installed in same location/structure as the old machine? Fallout itself depends on three folders, on a Win 10 box it's: C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Fallout4 (contains some config files, plugins list) C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 (contains ini-files, save games, f4se logs and keymapping file) ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4 (contains the game) Copying the files from the old machine to the new, overwriting any existing files, and then you are good to go. (COPY not move, keep the files on the old box until you verify that everything works) With a mod manager things get a little bit more complicated, but not much (with NMM, don't know about the other two).
  9. Crappy situation! I've been horsing around with textures, packaging my own BA2-files (based on a metric ton of loose file mods I like) and such. They work, given that the are placed in the right folder and are placed in the load order where I want them. You have something else borking your game if this fails to load....... It can also be other software like aggressive/bad anti-virus/-malware giving false positives and blocking access to the files, but then you should get a warning from that software.
  10. The loading of texture files is pretty straightforward. If they don't load then they are in the wrong folder. To make things easy, use the Vivid Fallout, All In One. Make sure that the BA2-file and the ESP-file resides in the DATA-folder. Open NMM and place the ESP-file LAST (at the bottom) in Your load order. If the texture from Vivid doesn't load then the files are placed in the wrong folder.... OR (I've seen this on my old rig), You gone above what the VRAM on Your GFX-card can handle, and the textures fail to load because of VRAM saturation. If none of this is the case. Duplicate/backup your game, re-download from Steam and try with ONLY the Vivid package. Best of luck DK
  11. From what I can gather from you posts You didn't do a complete reset of the Fallout 4 installation. You mention NMM, F4SE, removing ini files but not the folder etc. It's pretty difficult to know/understand what the actual state of your installation is. I recommend doing a clean reset of the installation, then try to run the game. RESET/BACKUP existing folders: Rename C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Fallout4 to something like C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Fallout4_OLD Rename C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 to something like C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4_OLD Rename the Fallout 4 Steam data folder to something like Fallout 4_OLD Rename the NMM folder to NMM_OLD. NEW INSTALL Use Steam to re-download the game. Start the game using the default launcher.
  12. The CreateFile entry will show when a process tries to create OR open a file. See the CreateFile API https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/api/fileapi/nf-fileapi-createfilea So it seems FO4 thinks that your mods are still installed (Beretta M9FS is the weapons mod by fadingsignal ?) When you did a reset of FO4, did you also delete the folders: C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Fallout4 and C:\User\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
  13. Btw, this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/19231 nukes the intro video, I've been using it for ages...
  14. I would recommend starting spending some time learning Process Monitor, it is a pretty powerful tool, with good filtering capabilities. Used correctly it will give you a clear view of what FO4 is trying to do with registry, files and the network. That may put you on track to hunt down this bugger! Good luck.
  15. Been doing some searching regarding 10016, and it seems you are right. Some claims it causes crashes but mostly it seems to be harmless. Maybe it is time to dig out some system tools to see what really is happening when you try to start FO4. Process Monitor, Process Explorer and TCPView from SysInternals or some of the tools from NirSoft are my go to toolboxes when things get sticky. Windows System Control Center from KLS SOFT lets you download all the tools and start them from one GUI if you don't want to download them one by one. Use at own risk....
  16. If the error You refer to, 10016, is the DCOM error (Distributed COM) there is a lot of stuff on the net about that. It causes a lot of nonsense errors including GPU driver crash, BSOD and other fun stuff. Why it suddenly appear and only affects FO4 (if 10016 DCOM is the problem), I have no clue.
  17. @bill8872 If I understand Your post correctly You have reset everything, reinstalled the game (no F4SE, no mod managers, launching the game via the default launcher) and are back to basics with no mods? If so, I would hazard a guess and say that your problems are not related to FO4. Did some automatic update for Windows, anti-virus, drivers for Your GFX-card or an other software update running on Your PC run in the week between You starting the game? Did You change some settings either in HW or SW (overclocking, BIOS, or boost software)? And, in case of some esoteric HW-failure, do You have any other games that You play regularly, and that are heavy on graphics (to load the memory on Your GFX card)? The reason why I ask this many stupid questions is that I have a crash problem with all games (see an old post), I know what triggers it, just don't know how to solve it, and it is not a problem in FO4.
  18. Amen to that, couldn't agree more. And on that note. Thuggysmurf and team have something in the works (pre-alpha atm), I'm drooling already. Check out their Discord for more information, https://discordapp.com/invite/gMpaxn3
  19. Maybe not what you are looking for, but here are some player homes... Eden Meadows Cinema Player Home (Far Harbor) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/27327 (RedRocketTV is by far my favourite Player Home-modder....) Far Harbor Shack https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25359 Shezrie's Far Harbor Home https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16834 The Moon Palace https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18971 ...or maybe some simple but very functional blueprints like those from the Lord Temujin https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/users/1007074?tab=user+files EDIT: Or do it simple and mobile: The Red Wave (Reloaded) Fast Travel Player Home https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22013
  20. Interesting observations, and thanks for the information about TftC. Tried that mod a very long time ago, but it kept crashing my game due to some conflict that I never figured out, not TftC fault, probably some other shite I had/have installed. I've never played much Skyrim (have both Oldrim and SE), swords, dragons and stuff, never been my cup of tea. Give me guns and zombies any day of the week!! Totally agree regarding Heather, imho best stand-alone companion.
  21. I wish you luck in your endeavour! FCR, OAR and PV are by far my absolute favourite mods (especially OAR and PV). They are DLCs with a very high quality, the mod pages are stellar, all the info you need. Thuggysmurf and team are really good at what they do. ....and the comps don't require a follower mod, you can easily have 5-6 follow you, then use Blood Rose (uses a follower slot), and Heather (don't use a slot) But, the FO4 AI goes a little bit haywire with that many followers.
  22. Cool, Your choice and preference! If the the total sum of good/ok/bad/stinks comps are outside what you want then it is pretty much a moot point to argue. I'm not gonna "tell you" what you should like, like some kind of know-it-all-arsehole. What you like is what you like and I'm not gonna argue, it is your taste, your game, your experience. My links was just for your information, and what I like and prefer.
  23. Maybe this is a trolling attempt and I've been duped, regardless, You MAY want to check out: Mods with followers: Fusion City Rising - Quest Mod Plus Outcasts and Remnants - Quest Mod Plus Project Valkyrie (They work perfectly after finishing the mod they are a part of). A couple of stand alones: Heather Casdin - A Unique Companion Experience by llamaRCA (The best stand alone around??) Blood Rose - Voiced Companion with Affinity ....and a shite load of others.
  24. fov 0 0 fov 70 70 fov 80 80 More info here: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands (Search the page for "SetCameraFOV")
  25. I'm with steve40 on this one, not very difficult. 1. Start FO4 2. When the message "Press any button....something" show, click left mouse button 3. You'll then get the main menu 4. Click "Settings", click "Controls" scroll down to the control You want to change. If this for some reason is not possible. Delete the file (but make a copy first): C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\ControlMap_Custom.txt It will reset your key bindings
