  1. I finally got around to updating my PC so I'm back, hombres. At least until the summer when I have my internship and start prepping for prelims.
  2. I got dragged into seeing The Forest last week with some friends. PROS: Natalie Dormer is a stone cold fox CONS: Literally everything else It got really stupid really quick and while the scenery was nice it was not scary outside of the occasional jump scare. Would not recommend.
  3. Granted, but despite raving reviews praising the topics, writing, and characters the ratings are abysmal and they never get past the pilots. I wish the cut on my finger would heal up faster.
  4. 1. Why London? If you're not from the UK, have you secured the necessary visas you'd need to work there? If you don't have one, are you certain you'd be able to find an employer willing to pay for your visas, fees, etc? (I looked at English universities for my PhD and even getting a long-term student visa was a headache). 2. What industry? 3. As for the CV, follow this format.... ____________________________ Name Contact Info (usually just phone number and email address) Mission Statement Education (with campus location, graduation date, degree obtained, and field of study (ex: Bachelor of Science, Biology, May 2009)) Include honors, grants, etc. if you have any; only include what scholarships you were awarded for your first job application, nobody cares after that Work History (Newest job to Oldest) (Make a "master CV/resume" with ALL your work history and then make versions that omit jobs that would not be relevant to your current position (ex: your high school yard mowing gig would be a waste of space if you were applying for an IT job)) Each work history item should have the employer, location, supervisor, and HR contact information. Also include your job description, duties performed, skills, how many people you maned (if applicable), awards & honors, etc. DO NOT say why you left unless the job specifically asks and always find a way to turn a negative into a positive. Other skills This is where you'd put languages, software aptitude, and other experience Volunteering & Memberships If you belong to any professional organizations (AAAS, fraternity/sorority, city hall, etc) or volunteer groups (habitat for humanity, meals on wheels, etc) then these go here. Also include any leadership or managerial role you may serve. References Should be self explanitory
  5. Granted, but it's via Italian cement shoes, capiche? I wish I could do a better job at ignoring my sugar cravings.
  6. Chat's dead alive and working http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zG24WyiG-GM/TZMKcwDoCiI/AAAAAAAAAY8/Pr9dYWR9R98/s1600/pulpfiction00001.png But Zed is still way dead.
  7. NES - Final Fantasy SNES - Chrono Trigger N64 - Harvest Moon 64 Playstation - Xenogears or Final Fantasy Tactics PS2 - Star Ocean - Till the End of Time Xbox - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Xbox 360 - Mass Effect PC - Skyrim
  8. FWIW I put Linux Mint on my grandparents' computer and they haven't had the slightest problem with it and think it's Windows.
  9. Google should just stop beating around the bush and get straight to the point with their next redesign: http://i.imgur.com/BzcneCc.jpg For those who can't read the headings, they're Hell, Souls, Money, Personal Information, and Stalking.
  10. So after months of applications, interviews, and waiting I got an email the other day saying that I was admitted into Texas A&M's Plant Breeding PhD program and start classes in the fall! I was afraid I'd have to go back to cubical Oblivion and not get the opportunity to do what I love for work so suffice it to say I've been bouncing off the walls all day! Get ready to see me running on a gallon of caffeine and 30 minutes of sleep a day!
  11. Double posting like a boss: http://api.ning.com/files/g0XUbHMd0UWn02FDUqS2cKz-g7i9ZJpPCAXL*hy4Pq*TikB*pFT-qcCZkfVRdwtPyz*gjWPJ*RgFN-6ODvdUVgVRMlU0G*Dm/themanwhofedthe.jpg If you don't know who Norman Borlaug is, then you need to click here and get educated.
  12. Granted, but you travel at such a speed that the G force breaks all your bones. I wish my student loan debt was erased.
  13. So at what point, exactly, did Google decide to disregard their "Don't be evil" mantra?
  14. Granted, you no longar have a reason to but but you still wake up early. I wish I hadn't cracked my phone's screen.
  15. Granted, but instead of rain you get hail and your house and car need extensive repairs. I wish my contacts would stop drying out so fast.
  16. I can't find a video, but it's "010101 (Binary System)" by Hiromi Uehara. http://grooveshark.com/#!/search/song?q=Hiromi+010101+%28Binary+System%29
  17. Granted, but it's a language that the instructor made up on notepad and is so eccentric that it has no real world application whatsoever. I wish my internet speed was faster.
  18. So now that Nexus is hosting mods for a much wider range of games, I understand that this necessitates dedicated forums for each game that is going to be tinkered with and improved upon. However, browsing the forums has become, well, slightly more inconvenient and cumbersome. Since each game has its own Nexus Site Forum, they're all listed on the main page; it now takes anwhere between 6-10 page downs to wade through them all to get to the forums below all the games. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have just the Nexus Site Forums link on the front page rather than list every game offered? I believe this would help with the main page's load times and give the forum a more streamlined, easier to access feel. NEVERMIND, NoScript was preventing the collapse button from loading, mods please lock.
  19. This sounds familiar. I remember the last time ATi was beating Nvidia. They always go back and forth.
  20. http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Fool-Me-Twice-cover.jpg If you're interested/work in the sciences this book will make you rage, cringe, and weep at the same time.
  21. I was, then I wasn't, then I was again, now I'm not. I'm trying to go back and get my PhD, though, so I might be back in the night owl camp soon.
