  1. There's something really important that nobody seems to mention much: Sometimes a file is supposed to be a DAZip file, but gets downloaded instead as a zip file. You'll know because, as you unzip it, you'll see two folders, a Contents folder and a Manifest file (at least in my experience). The problem is that some windows versions, when you choose to rename the file, won't let you change the file extension. So you must google how to show file extensions when renaming files for your windows versions, and change the .zip into .dazip. Many, many files in nexus mods have this problem, and I ran into the solution by luckily searching one of many comment threads.
  2. Tarshana: French? Weren't you the one living in Ireland? God, How many languages do these europeans speak? Moho25: I'm pretty sure EA stands for Electronic Apathy, and I'm also pretty sure you've known this as well for long. Or do you mean apathy by the modders? Why did it hit you so hard this time even though you've known about this? Wanna elaborate on the experience? You know? they say writing is like free therapy.
  3. Skymoves: since you actually kick ass at modding (no matter how your signature says your mods are bad) I'll ask you about my concerns: ============================= Known Issues ============================= ==08.22.2010== - Some mods that override combat_h.nss or modify creatureranks.gda (very few, if any). I have Flash's Creature Rescale, Combat Tweaks, and Nightmare v2.5. Now, like I said, I wanna take this and add a 'zz' at the beginning of the name's folder so it has priority. Do you think it will conflict?
  4. The deadline is august 26th, right? Which should be accounted for as august 25 given time differences, since we don't know what time zone they're using. At least I don't. And I remember one of you guys saying they lived in Ireland? Isn't that +8 compared to east coast? (I'm in Venezuela and internet is horrible here, which is why I'm not actively helping with the downloads. I'm cheerleading for you though XD)...
  5. I just want to make this change: disable killblow animation for all ogres. Problem is I know nothing about modding. Another problem is that I already have a mod that is supposed to only activate killblows on boss ogres (Combat Tweaks, maybe?). But another mod, I don't know which, is overriding it. (I have a mod that modifies Ogre textures, but would that actually affect the same file? See? I know nothing) However, I still want zero animations on zero Ogres, not even boss ones. So I would like to build a file and put it in a folder in the override section with a name that starts with zzzzz, so it has ultra last priority. Pointers, links to tutorials, and everything else would be much appreciated.
  6. I'm sorry for being slightly off-topic on this, but as I recall the only way to get patch 1.05 of DA:O without steam or whatever the other steam is called is from the BSN. Will you be backing this up too or do I have to do my own back up ASAP???
  7. Holy crap, there are a lot of files that can only be found in the BSN. Nightmare v2.5 just comes up from the top of my head. Absolutely essential for me.
  8. I wanted to, but after realizing it was a stand-alone module, I decided not to. The story, characters and atmosphere of DA:O are what keep me coming back to it, not just the combat system. I don't understand why people make stand alone modules for this game with such outdated graphics and music. They weren't even last-gen level when the game came out. Why didn't you want to make it a Quest inside the campaign?
  9. Question one: Was the item you found for Leliana's Quest called "Meta Items". I think that could help. Otherwise I'm out of ideas. Question two: have you tried aldan's zz_ran_debug choice? Maybe forcing the encounter with the assasins can get you to Activate Marjolaine's location without requiring previous dialogue options. Question three: Marjolaine's Recurve isn't the best bow in the game, so... why?? Question four: Have you considered installing Awakening in the OC and the Lowering Awakening Skill requirements mods? Archers deal, by far, and I mean by faaaar the highest DPS in the game with Accuracy into Aim. If you're using Combat Tweaks you lose the interaction of Aim doubling Accuracy's crit chance but with a little bit of tweaking you can work through that. Also, remember that Repeater Gloves are mandatory on your party's archer and I would also include Sorrows of Arlathan if you don't have the fix for haste actually delaying aim speed (Gloves' aim reduction -3.0 seconds, Arlathan is -1.0, everything else is a crappy -0.3 or the like) . If you install Awakening in the OC, Leliana becomes the highest DPS and also the most difficult person to kill on your team (Leggionaire Scout+pure-dex build). That is a complete reversal on archer's roles in Origins. And finally, please do tell us if any of our solutions where of any help to you. I hate when people ask questions, they get solutions, and never again post to tell wether the solutions worked (I'll admit to have done this perhaps more than once, myself) Edit: AAAAaaaaand I just Necro'ed a five year old thread. But thanks for the advise, aldan. I did get into trouble with this.
  10. I want to know what your favorite "almost god-like" daggers are. I think I saw one that provided +600.000 damage, but no. Not that kind. The kind you want to use when playing with sick difficulty mods. When I look for daggers in the mods section, I usually find something that is either underpowered, or something that gives silly overpowered numbers like +500 to all attributes or something. When I say underpowered, I mean that Voice of Velvet seems to provide more damage than any other non-god dagger across nexus mods (+100 critical/backstab damage). As you know, it also provides 25% dodge (huge for a vanilla item), along with other small perks you can see in the wiki, including a meager +5% critical chance, which is crap if you are trying to get as close to 100% crit as possible. The only dagger that comes behind Voice of Velvet is The Last Wish from QaL, which provides +7 to all atributes, +75 stamina, and, well, the rest of its perks are underwhelming. For example, The Last Wish provides the very annoying "improves backstabs". What this does is it provides the ability 'Coup de Grace', which means you automatically backstab paralyzed targets. Why is this annoying? Because if you want to go for a shatter strategy (freezing and shattering enemies around you with auto-crits and talents/spells) you can't do it anymore. The frozen target won't be hit with a critical, instead it will receive a backstab, not shattering. Most weapon mods focus on swords, and I don't want to use a sword, because sword damage is not determined by dex (unless I messed too much when modding my game and now it's acting strangely).
  11. It's a very simple request. If no one wants to do it, maybe point to a few places where I can learn how to do this myself? (I know zero about modding) Request: Please write a mod that makes Fortifying Presence a sustainable. Incidentally, it would have to lose it's ridiculous armor increase fading-over-time effect. I mean, why lose it's effect over time? Arcane Warriors get insane things, INSANE, and when warriors finally get something, well, it's activated, and fades really rapidly. No, it wouldn't be broken if, like me, your difficulty modded enemies can sometimes deal 500 damage in 5 seconds. Why do I need this? My problem is that my game is lagging, and QaL itself lags a lot, so my Alistair casts fortifying presence three times before it registers and activates (due to lag) and he wastes 200 stamina. After it runs out, again, 200 stamina. There, stamina gone, beyond the veil deactivates, my warrior is now no longer a tank. Pleeeeease!
  12. I have nothing productive to add except that I'm really excited about this collaboration and I hope it turns out into something nice :)
  13. I was thinking about something more centric than just having to write in the comments of all those mods, one by one. I guess the Dragon Age Mod Talk would be that place, yes. I wanted something with more traffic, but this game is basically dead, no? Can't figure out why, though. Wouldn't go near DA:I even if it was sitting on my favorite pornstar's naked body.
  14. So... wanna share how to solve it? In case the same thing happens to someone else? I have the opposite problem. I'm a male dwarf and he calls me "my love". :(
  15. @addictinsane9; In other words, both of the issues you raise are well-known, addressed in the comments, and totally under the player's control. As with all mods, "Caveat Lusor". Not exactly, Thandal. It took me a lot of researching in other mods' threads in order to look at the answer, say "oh, that's what's wrong with that mod I uninstalled two weeks ago", and going back to playing. Still, I believe these mods are basically left with hardcore fans and nothing more. So anyone can just ask the question. However, it took me about a year of DAO fandom before finding this place. You know how I am at finding things
  16. I know I'm necro'ing this, but there are two issues here which I don't see being widely addressed enough considering the impact they have, one on gameplay, the other on mod installing in general. 1.- Some mods come in .zip format when they should come as .dazip. People in the comments DO remind you to rename them, but what they don't mention is that some versions of Windows have a hide file extensions feature when renaming them. So you have to look for a way to disable that feature. 2.- Extra Dog Slot ruins one quest, hampers another one, and adds a feature I haven't seen being talked about. If you get captured by Ser Cauthrien with this mod enabled, being rescued by your companions becomes bugged to crap and you have to reload an old save. When reaching Anvil of The Void with this mod enabled, if you have Dog active he will force himself as a companion, with no possibility of being removed (as if he was Oghren). If you don't have Dog active then you won't be able to have a four-people party, only a three people one. Whatever the case is, if you don't choose Oghren (which you now can in this bugged state), an invisible Oghren will deliver his lines to Branka. Also, this mod enables you to have an unlimited ammount of "pets", which means you can have the dog, two ranger summons and an animate dead zombie from a mage simultaenously in a party.
  17. Two questions: 1.- I was checking the God and Cheat Items thread and I found a few fixes and tweaks that could be in other threads. One of them has been very annoying and has affected me through many playthroughs, up until last night, and I wish it could have been in the fixes section so I could have seen it. Is there any way an administrator could move these to threads that have more transit, making them easier to be found? I mean, DA:O and DA:A are so easy that I don't even know why people create God Items, I was there because I was looking for a very specific thing QaL related. I have been playing Da:O for 6 years and had never entered that category. 2.- I've seen a lot of people commenting that they have trouble getting some modded items that are added in your inventory as soon as you enable them to work. This is because those items (several, from different mods) come with the caveat that you CANNOT start a new game with them enabled. If you do so, you won't get them, and the save-disable-load-save into exit-enable-load fix won't work either. Actually, some of those items you'll never recover if you had them when loosing your stuff in the dwarf noble origins, and the authors don't offer ways to get these items through console commands, so there's no way of EVER getting them back. I just started a playthrough last night and had to abandon it because of this issue, since it was my first time ever with a dwarf. Is there any forum category where it would be ideal for me to post a small explanation regarding how to make these mods work?
  18. I wanted to add a few more things. One is that, since you say you are adding quests to the game in your mod, I don't think you should be concerned with how much an item costs in your mod, but instead whether your mod's quests actually give the player enough gold to buy that item. I particularly am concerned with playing a modded quest if it provides me with a decent ammount of gold and some items that I can use in the future. Also, about the difficulty of the quest. Since I play with difficulty mods, my curve is relatively nice except for the fact that A) it gets too easy in the end, as it does for everyone, and B) there's a gap for me in the difficulty curve after leaving Lothering, since I require level 10 to do any of the main quests and the DLC, and you actually leave Lothering in the seven's. So, when considering the difficulty level, you can either plan it for a level 7 character to fill in the gap, or make something more difficult than Temple of Vulak for those in the late-game who are bored. If you are going the "more hardcore than Vulak" route, I would implore you to not make it a mob-fest with tens of enemies at once. It seems fun at first, but this game lags horribly, even on systems on which it should run smoothly, when too many enemies are present. So, just make a few bosses, give them ridiculous stats, and we'll manage.
  19. The tooltip states, and wiki seems to agree, that spirit warrior's soulbranded beyond the veil is supposed to bypass armor. However, I have tried on my archer to hit an enemy, deactivate beyond the veil, hit same enemy again, and damage is extremely similar. This shouldn't be the case even without the armor bypass perk, since fully upgraded beyond the veil is supposed to give you a 15% spirit damage increase to your attacks, at least according to wiki. In my game I also happen to see that Song of Courage affects none of my archers. Maybe this has something to do with me using Awakening in the OC, and maybe Accuracy is bugged? I just wanted to ask if someone has seen any discussion on this matter or anything similar, since, for example, the wiki suggests that Weak Points might be bugged (which I agree with, I actually deal less damage with it on). P.D.: I know a lotta people view new threads and don't comment on them, probably because they feel they have nothing constructive to add, but even if you said something like "dude, your game is modded to the lowest levels of hell, nobody has issues with beyond the veil" I would personally consider it constructive, since what I want is also an approximation of how many people are not having issue with this.
  20. Morrigan wears slutty clothes because sex sells and Morrigan is the femme fatale romance option. Don't you even try to sell the "but your hot girl needs to cover herself from the weather" to such a cash-grabbing monster like EA, period. Morrigan had at least a hood in her concept art. I don't know about english, but it's a very light-cloth hood that in some other languages is known as a wind-protector (crappy translation, I know). At least with that she could keep her ears and partially her face from windy weather. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know enough about the development process of Morrigan, but I do know EA acquired BioWare in the process of creating Dragon Age, so I'm pretty sure a guy wearing a tie barged into the development room and warcried "Show me her tits!"
  21. Magdalena: I would love to see those "many" links you talk about. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be the only one in these forums.
  22. Unless you have a fix for it, version 1.04 (and I think 1.05 as well, as I read on the wiki, but can't confirm) has a bug with the legion of the dead heraldry that you get in Awakenings. This heraldry should apply a +3 to all attributes to the wielder of this shield, but it instead applies +20. The wiki says that the bug was fixed in 1.04 and it resurfaced for 1.05, but I have 1.04 and actually do have the bug. My first run of Awakenings was vanilla, so I don't think a mod conflict was responsible for this. You got me excited there, for a moment. I have to import Awakenings items using console, and I thought for a moment I could do it in a way that felt less like cheating :(
  23. Thank you for reminding me. I uninstalled Dark Times, so it would have taken forever for me to redo every dungeon crawl until I would have given up, not knowing what I was doing wrong not to find it.
  24. Winter Forge lets you add a +20 heraldry from Awakenings to a shield in Origins?? Are you positive about this LadyHonor?
