Redesign Launch - Stage 2 in progress

I hate to chime in with the others because my first impression when I saw the new design was positive. But having used it, I absolutely hate it! What a confusing mess! Seriously guys...

At the very least, please remove the obnoxious "View Mod" mouse-over icon! It is naturally intuitive to know if you click on a mod tile, it will load up the mod page. We don't need the icon! People use the mouse cursor as they visually scan over mods and this makes the experience incredibly annoying!

I see it the same way. It's not like I didn't tried it, but especially the download section has become a big blob. It was way more user friendly before.

I agree. This new design is BAD.

I don't think we're allowed to switch back any more. We seem to be stuck with this ugly horrible mobile phone monster which actually seems and feels less functional (regardless of whether it actually is less functional or not).

If I wanted to find a game on the list I could load up the list page and have them all sorted alpahbetically. I could scrioll quickly to the appropriate game and click on it.

Now I have to look at some random selection of games sorted by... I don't know, popularity? Many of which are games I don't even play. Then I have to click a button to load up a second page where I'll hopefully be able to find the full list. That's an extra page to get to where I need to go at which point I'm better off just using an internet search engine.

This might have added functionality in some ways but many actually useful functions have been diminished in favour of some god awful ugly mobile phone /console xbox kind of interface that just looks rubbish on a desktop pc screen.

Didnt anyone bother to read the first post? Its clearly stated there if u still want to use the old design use https://old.nexusmods.com/

I hate to feel like I'm just repeating what everyone else is saying, but the new design is honestly pretty messy. There are way too many same colored buttons thrown every where. Tabs don't stand out enough, it's hard to tell where and what you are clicking on sometimes. Everything seems to blend together.

Before there was distinct groupings, pictures for tabs, really easy to navigate. Now everything kind of flows together, it's honestly jarring and I'll be using the old design as long as I can.

I agree, I personally like the new layout. Yes it is new and will require an "adjustment" period but I honestly think once everyone has gotten used to it they will appreciate all the hard work that went into implementing this. Thank you Nexus team. Like anything else that is new there will be bugs and adjustments but I have faith you are all on top of it.

Remember when CD's came out and replaced cassettes everyone was screaming about that "It skips every time I hit a bump or there is to much cleaning involved to make it work properly etc... I do not think anyone would like to go back to the cassette tape right?

Im giving it a try but in past I avoided the new layout because I didn't understand where the category list was at the time. (you still shouldn't have it at the bottom)

Not that it would happen here but I had worked for the app Hang/w that as of june is now dead mostly because of far to many changes. After 5 years and now gone...

Stream line interface and ease of use is everything...When a interface is confusing vs learning curve...then you have a problem.

Just saying....it looks good but your old one was easier to go through....Again giving it a chance and maybe like me the new of it is whats throwing everyone off...

Time will tell.

Sorry, but it's not only a question of adjustment. Take a look at the old download/file section and the new one. It was way more structured and easier to read and navigate.

And it is not like switching from cassette to cd. It's a design change.

I've got to admit, the more I use the new layout, the more I dislike it. Things are too unorganized visually. :(

Everything is too wide for no reason and I have to scroll up and down to find stuff I need. There is no visual hierarchy or direction; everything is just scattered everywhere. For a simple mod, the banner image takes up half of the screen. and I have to scroll scroll and scroll to read the description. The short description, which is used on mod list page, somehow thinks it needs to repeat itself again on the main page. And the title "About this mod" is huge, taking up more space than necessary.

Once again - everything is way too wide, way too big, and too randomly placed.

Which doesn't change the fact, the old website will soon be gone.
