  1. I love your corp name Cpt Clueless :) Which systems do you ninja in? I frequently do missions at Umokka, sometimes Motsu. You're welcome to salvage my missions if you see me around- just convo me.
  2. Things have changed. First and most importantly: the (HM) ROF on my tengu is 3.43 now :) The war on Middle-Earth lasted a week. 3 losses on our side. None on theirs. I got bored and decided to set up a POS, for which I bought (150m) a corp called Finite Technologies. Had fun in setting up the POS in a 0.7 system 3 jumps from Jita, and 1 from my base. The POS is still up but as most of my BPOs are researched out, and my containers are overflowing with BPCs, I may take it down soon. My friend Cista2 suggested joining an alliance to avoid wardecs, and thus I joined Stellar Economy Experts (SEX). One thing led to another and I decided to join the alliance in setting up base (couple of POSs) in a C2 wormhole. This is more of a team building exercise than a resource exploiting one. Have moved in with my drake, badger, retriever, catalyst, buzzard and zephyr.
  3. There are no "private" servers for eve. There just one server- and you have to pay for that. Paying customers have access to a test server as well. In case you are looking for a free 3 week trial, send me your email address and I can send you a buddy invite.
  4. After 11 months in J0urneys End I felt the need to move on, and have now joined Middle-Earth. During my time in JE I went seriously into industry. Researched a number of blueprints and started manufacturing about a third of the items that I trade in. I also recently started T2 invention and am currently involved in producing T2 blueprints by the dozen, to be used for manufacture in the new year. I made a number of very good friends and it was difficult to leave the corp in many ways. As soon as I joined Middle-Earth one of our members got into an argument that ended up in war that started a couple of hours ago (on Christmas day). Have become a GREAT fan of the Tengu. Amazing ship for level 4 missions. Got a 3.83 rate of fire on my heavy missiles- and this is heaven. Am back into a drake for the war as I took the liberty of pimping up my Tengu (a little) and do not want to risk it. Am planning on selling my Rattlesnake as it has been nerfed to kingdom come post Dominion. Curse you CCP!
  5. Wormholes can be a lot of fun- mindless killing type. They have classes. The sites in class I and II can easily be soloed in something like a drake or nighthawk. Class III onwards they get tougher and ideally require fleet support. We have lost ships in Class 4 WHs to sleepers. Most of my personal losses have been to pirates though :) The sleepers are a little more "intelligent" than other rats. They allegedly select ammo type according to your weakest resistance. The sleeper BSs are pretty tough - I calculated something like 330 scourge heavy missiles per BS a while back while using a drake :) Other than these sites- there is other stuff in WHs that I am not into myself thus know little about- codebreaking kind of stuff. Haven't taken my Zephyr into a WH yet. It is a cool looking ship- going to try and get my hands on a few before I take one into risky territory.
  6. I suppose we are all looking forward to Dominion- though they have changed the specifications on the Rattlesnake, the ship I use for missions, and I believe the ship will now be useless to me, and thus am a bit pissed as well. The new factional battleships sound interesting and I have my eye on the Navy Scorpion. Update to the eve-mail system is also a welcome change, and fleet changes also sound good. I presume that SAK is your corp, and if you are happy with it, I suppose there may not be much point in switching. I am in a corp called J0urney's End. We are based in high sec Caldari space (generally, though players all over). We are basically into trade and industry. Some of our members are dedicated mission runners and we run regular corp level 4 missions. A few members are also into mining. We also have a Wormhole team, with a POS in there. In case you are interested, you can join our public channel Journeys Start to chat with us, or just message me (eve name: Samroski). Currently Dominion is being deployed, so let us see how that goes :)
  7. yes you are missing out, and yes more zombies are needed in eve! Join us! Eve is a great game imho. and there is a free 2 week trial. In case you are looking for a free 3 week trial - message me your email address and I'll send you an invitation for the 3 week trial.
  8. To check the stuff you can upgrade, and other stuff available, turn off the "Show Affordable only" option in the LP store Edit: They plan to nerf my favourite ship Rattlesnake in Dominion- taking away 2 launchers and giving is a larger drone bay. Much as I like drones, I am quite disappointed. Most of the other factional ships appear to be getting better overhauls. Looking forward to the Navy Scorpion :)
  9. Not sure what your drone skills are like- but the first thing to do is to train to drones 5, combat drone operation and drone interfacing etc. to increase the damage done- and make sure you've got the racial drone skills- like gallente drone specialization. This will give you plenty damage, and let you use the T2 drones. My drone skills are not fully trained- but I am very happy with the damage drones do- and have no desire to try higher meta drones- who would want to loose 5 drones worth 15 million each, and then loose them again the next day? T2 drones work brilliantly if you have the skills. I have not looked at drones- so not sure - but the Loyalty Point (LP) store gives out some BPCs (do not rememeber seeing any for drones) and lets you upgrade certain items like ammo. For example if you have 5000 heavy missiles of one type in your hanger and enough LPs you can give some money and LPs and convert the missiles to factional missiles. How many skill points do you have? When did you start playing eve?
  10. Anything higher than Meta 5 will be in contracts. Have personally never tried looking for them- though I know that there are higher meta level variations of drones. Also possibly you can upgrade your drones via the LP Store, as there are Caldari Navy drones- and those must come from either BPCs from the LP store or upgrading. Due to the fact that you lose drones like flies in some missions, I do not think many mission runners would want to invest heavily in such expendable commodities, thus possibly the low supply in contracts.

  12. Another great aspect about eve is that you can buy game time using in-game money (ISK). Thus if you can make a decent amount of money in game, you never need to pay to play.
  13. Bought the Tengu and 3 PLEXes over the 6 weeks. Planning on stockpiling PLEXes for use later when my subscription runs out. Have now about 5 billion on the market, thus a steady income coming in. Having started as a trader, and then gone into manufacturing is useful as (I think) my profit margins are quite high. I have stopped doing the maths as whatever I am doing appears to be working.
  14. 1.5 deployment is proving to be as painful as 1.0 :)
  15. Doomfarer will look for the fit. WIth my skills I find the rattlesnake better than the CNR at level 4- the tank is great, I love the way it looks and damage done is reasonable. Likely to use it for a long time for level 4s- possibly till I get the Golem :) In the meantime I am minutes away from a Tengu. Have already bought and assembled one for 597 million. I could have built it for under 500 mil had I waited for all my buy orders to come in- but with the skills nearly trained the wait was not possible.
  16. Thanks ravinluny for the tip- this will save me hours of hauling 2k m3 in the Charon :)
  17. My 2 bits: As pointed above, eve is a long term game. You should be mentally prepared to pay for the first year. After this you should be in a position to earn enough ISK (in-game money) to buy time codes or PLEXes using ISK. You will need 300-400 million ISK a month. There possibly 10K solar systems (including uncharted wormhole systems), each with numerous planets, stations, asteriod belts etc. But these are distances in space, not on ground- and you can have the fastest ship run at full speed for days/years and not get anywhere. The Universe has a central "Empire"- high security area where events such as killing new players are extremely rare. Note: There are suicide ganks on selected targets, where one (or more) people kill the target and are then destroyed by (NPC) police, and an accomplice steals away the cargo- but this will not happen to you till you are stupid enough to transport goods worth >100 million in a fragile ship. The 4 races in eve have their respective space in empire, and on the fringes of the Empire there are vast low/null security regions, ruled by alliances (of player corporations). If you venture into low security space as a new player, you are asking for it. Unless of course your corp/alliance has access to the space. The fact that you will not see another person, or inside of ships or stations or planets is something that has put a lot of people off eve. Especially if you play solo. Future updates will address this issue, but don't hold your breath :) Er.. I am in love with the game, my view is biased :) As a new(ish) player I have tried a number of career paths. For me the market is the most fascinating aspect. As nearly all the in-game items are manufactured by players, the whole research, manufacturing and trading aspect attracts me. I am experiemnting with industry nowadays, as I feel that the real money is in manufacturing cheap, and selling high. Trade, though, is something that I will always do in eve, as it brings in money even when you are not playing, compared to Mining and Missions, where your ISK is proportional to the amount of time you play, and thus has an upper limit. Mining I have tried and find a waste of time now, though I had great fun doing it as a new player. Missions I do for fun. Our corp has great fun getting together for missions, and this is a regular feature for us. We also take expeditions into wormhole space, which are great for mindless group massacre. People who are into PvP (player vs player) swear by it, and I am looking forward to that aspect of the game, and I am sure I will drift into it in a couple of years. Why don't you try it as it is free. If you send me your email address I will send you a buddy invite that will give you a 3 week free trial instead of the 2 week.
  18. I got the rattlesnake, and I like it. So much so that I have sold my CNR. Experimented with active tanking and am now testing passive (which seems to be better). http://i39.tinypic.com/242ztbt.jpg Oh yes! I was ganked a couple of days ago. Was exiting Jita station when it happened. Needed zydrine for my manufacturing operation and I got 200 mil worth and put it in an unfitted hauler along with some salvage and thus presented a real soft target. Possibly as a compensation, great looking smoke and fire bellowed from the ship before it exploded.
  19. lazytanker and ravinluny- thanks for your comments. I have actually held back on getting the rattlensnake. I got up to 1 bil pretty quick as soon as I put the stuff on the market- but I have now spent quite a bit :) on raw materails again. Feel as if I want to hoard up the money for a rainy day- but I cannot help spend/re-invest it. Eve is crazy. I think I'll end up spending it all on raw materails and re-start the production cycle....
  20. Have gone through this massive manufacturing phase (running 17 slots), and have today set up sell orders worth around 1.5 billion. The wallet has been hovering around empty for a while with all the buy orders, and it will be nice to have a bit to squander away. I want to buy a Golem, which will solve my mission/salvaging needs, but that needs a couple of months of training, so in the meantime I am eyeing a Rattlesnake. Not sure if it is any good. Costs nearly as much as a Golem (900 mil). I suppose it is worth a try.
  21. I got a spitfire rigged for fast travel from Abramul. http://i43.tinypic.com/2nl5yyr.jpg I quite like the menacing looks http://i41.tinypic.com/15yjaft.jpg Though my latest craze is the Apotheosis http://i41.tinypic.com/2vuamc9.jpg I have been buying these for a couple of weeks and have quite a collection now http://i44.tinypic.com/14jazoz.jpg Use these mostly to travel to and fro from the corp starbase http://i39.tinypic.com/2ytr4pk.jpg Nowadays I spend doing a fair bit of time doing research on blueprints http://i42.tinypic.com/2uhtsvl.jpg Am continuing to manufacture cruise missiles and tractor beams, and have set up buy orders for materials to manufacture rigs. The corp is doing more level 4 group missions and less wormhole expeditions nowadays. http://i42.tinypic.com/2iibl14.jpg A couple of weeks ago while probing away in a wormhole I was attacked by pirates. I managed to escape in my pod but I was sure that the wormhole would collapse before I could exit, leaving me stuck in there with a pod/clone worth more than 600 million. Amazingly when I tried to exit the next day, the wormhole was still there!
  22. Eve has one more advantage. If you are decent at making money (ISK), you can buy playtime with ISK. Depending on how good you at this, I would imagine that most players need not pay in real world money after a year or two of playing.
  23. Multiplayer games have the added realism/attraction of human interaction. There are many free ones as well like Anarchy Online. Don't know of any decent free online multiplayer space game other than Eve.
  24. I nearly feel sorry for my client kieot who ended up paying me ISK 300 million for 2000 wrath cruise missiles. My sell order at the station was at 152 ISK per missile, but the market works strangely. He tried to buy from a higher priced order (150,000 ISK/missile), and the broker gave him my missiles and gave me the money :) You got to love the broker. I no longer resent all the millions paid to him previously in fees. http://i40.tinypic.com/b6obvo.jpg Over the last couple of weeks I have bought more than a billion worth of minerals in a 3 jump radius around Kakakela. Have been using the corporation POS to research blueprints, and currently producing lots of wrath cruise missiles. Have also been arranging and participating in corp wormhole expeditions over the weekends. We are mainly an industrial and trade corporation, but for relaxation and fun we kill sleepers. A typical outing involves 5 to 10 pilots, mostly in Drakes, and results in >60 million in loot and salvage per player. We are planning on including miners in the team as well this weekend, to exploit the mineral resources.
  25. Update: My calculation were a little wrong. I got 19 each in Intelligence and Memory, plus 100% bonus = 38 each :) Production Efficiency 5 is going to take 7 days! Things cannot get better than this :geek: http://i40.tinypic.com/2n19uu9.jpg
