  1. The more I look at it the more it looks like what you suggest :)
  2. Yes, they never delete old accounts. You can always reactivate. Though you won't get the 21/51 free days that you can avail with a new account.
  3. If you remember the email address you used, or a character name, you can get customer support to help you. May be worth it for any skills trained, assets, and for older characters.
  4. Don't think we have listed Eve-Search This site lets you search the old Eve forums. Most useful to get information, and to look up players and their posting history. Another site I use occasionally for Eve related pleasure is: Eve Avatar Face-Off. Enter your character name and let others vote on your various attributes. Challenge the attributes of other characters etc.
  5. I used an Orca for level 4 mission support for a while, and it was most useful. Used to exchange the Tengu for a salvaging ship at the end of the mission, and could refit the Tengu right there for experimentation. The Orca was fit for a passive tank, with tractor beams and drones (set to guard the Tengu). Missioning was great fun, except where long travel to gates was required, for which I'd go with the Tengu alone. The tractor bonus on the Orca was phenomenal, though now matched by the Noctis. I also use the Orca for transporting (very) valuable goods. The corporate hanger cannot be scanned. Plus great cargo capacity for medium sized hauls. With the MWD trick you can get it to align and warp in 5-10s. For someone who spends most of his time in freighters, an Orca feels more like a cruiser than a capital. Needless to say, I'm a fan. I beg to disagree about Scorpion looks. I loved the old model. Just a personal thing, as most of Eve player base likes the newer model. I had great fun jamming sleepers in a C4 WH using the Scorpion. Most amazing abilities. Rattlesnake was my first real L4 mission BS, as I did not have the skills to tank a Raven. The RS was slow but I could tank everything and that was amazing for a relatively new player. Unfortunately they nerfed it further (imho and for my skills. It got the drones bonus and they took away a couple of launchers) in late 2009. I lost a couple of RSs in early 2010 trying L5 missions, which was a great lesson. I gave the ship one more try a year ago, when I trained up my drones skills and used a Tengu-RS combination for L4s. Unfortunately the RS would get left behind in many missions and I switched back to using the lethal 2 Tengu combo. I submit the following images of the old Scorpion to support my case. http://i39.tinypic.com/242ztbt.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/2cpanvm.jpg Edit: Grammar, and (with apologies) this shot of my Scorpion getting away with 4% hull in w-space :) http://i43.tinypic.com/258qx3s.jpg
  6. The main change in skills has been removal of learning skills. If you had/have learning skills trained you get a reimbursement of skill points- which you can allocate to any skill you like. This was great as I had 5m SP on 2 characters and had great fun in instantly training up skills. CCP has also reimbursed players once or twice for crashes/server down situations by giving out SP. Other than this, skills remain as tedious as ever to train. Removal of learning skills actually was beneficial to players with little SP in learning skills. For me, training is a little slower than before. Certainly a great move for newer players. Have been playing solo for the last year or so. No doubt Eve is twice the fun with co-op play, but solo play has its place.
  7. Been playing for 3.5 years and Eve has gone through many changes. Some of recent ones were not well accepted unfortunately as CCP decided to introduce micro transactions. They even levied a $99 licence fee for fan sites! There was an emergency CCP-CSM meeting called a couple of months ago where there appeared to be unresolved issues. CSM, btw, is the Council of Stellar Management- an elected player body which is supposed to bridge the gap between CCP and players. The Mittani, CSM leader, recently released a blog which may indicate that more trouble is in the offing. Lots more to say on this but not enough time :) The new character creator is probably an improvement. Certainly fun to play with- and you can change your portrait as many times as you like (though the basic facial features cannot be changed). The BEST update to Eve imho was Apocrypha which introduced T3 ships and wormhole space. Since then it has been all the way down- but do not take my word for it :) T3 cruisers and WH space alone are worth re-subbing for. There have been lots of other minor improvements, but I'm a typical Eve player who loves the game and loves even more to complain about minor issues. Some other changes off the top of my head: Scanning has been revamped. Skill queue has made life MUCH easier. Orca is the most amazing support ship. There are Sansha incursions now in random systems which players have to team up and fight. No personal experience. There is a dedicated ship for salvaging now. Planetary interaction- much hyped and poorly implemented is now available as a mildly amusing and seriously tedious side game. There is now Eve-Gate which helps you to stay in touch with Eve via a browser when you do not have the client installed. There are new forums which actually work (were introduced and had to be recalled as they were hacked to bits). Jita is now the (trade) centre of the universe and not Yuali :)_
  8. There were riots at Jita and Amarr. I was there at the beginning. Crashed out of Jita, got caught in traffic at Perimeter, and eventually moved to Amarr to continue protest against unwanted change. http://i54.tinypic.com/2m481ue.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/302os2s.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2eg73pe.jpg Later, I analysed our reaction, but could not correctly classify my own behaviour into one of the the 4 categories. I quote: Eve player base reaction to recent changes (Incarna) in Eve was a classic study in moving cheese. Ref: Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. I'm a Haw btw. In the story, when the cheese gets moved the characters react thus: Sniff and Scurry, the mice, had already noted the decrease in supply of cheese. They quickly put on their boots and went out in the maze to find new cheese. Sniff sniffed around and determined a direction and guided scurry to run ahead. By trial and error and with persistence they eventually found Cheese Station N with a limitless supply of new cheeses. Hem and Haw, the little people, were shocked when the cheese was moved. They had not noticed the little changes that had preceded. They could not believe this was happening to them. They kept analysing why the cheese had been moved. They let their beliefs and fears cloud their reaction. They had got used to the constant supply of cheese and feared going out into the maze again. They figured the cheese may have been moved behind the wall. They started hitting the wall, and eventually made a small hole, but there was no cheese on the other side. Instead of looking elsewhere, they enlarged the hole, with no result. Haw realized that it was pointless waiting for the old cheese to appear. He laughed at himself and at his fears, and envisioned himself enjoying the best cheeses in the world and decided to set out into the maze to search for them. He had put his boots away, and it took him a while to find them. Before leaving he tried to reason with Hem. But Hem was still angry at why the cheese had been moved. He refused to leave the security of the cheese station and was convinced that the cheese would reappear. Haw had a tough time finding new cheese. But he was happy in the search, feeling invigorated and young. He found some small bits of new cheese in a large cheese station, but somebody had already been there. He took a piece to Hem, but Hem would still not look for new cheese. Eventually Haw found Cheese Station N, his old friends, and the new cheeses which made him very happy. One day he heard the noise of someone approaching. He hoped it was Hem. I bought a Hyperion, filled it up with ammo and settled in for a prolonged protest at Jita. Then I figured this was Hem-like behaviour and got really confused. http://i51.tinypic.com/erfskx.jpg
  9. Hey Worm! I'm good. Miss the times. I lurk in the Eve Online forum at Nexus nowadays. Hope the Wormhole's doing well :)
  10. I'm based mostly in Lonetrek, and operate generally in Caldari space. I'm mostly a trader, though I dabble in other stuff. I recently set up some regional buy orders in bleak lands, so you may be my clients :) Going through a busy phase in RL myself and mostly playing solo nowadays. Got 13 or 14 alts in my corp, a small POS, and doing some research, invention and industry when I get the time.
  11. That is true. You cannot directly send me money while on a trial. But I am sure we can figure a way out. Possibly I'll set up a contract for you. We can do direct in-station trade as well. Contact me in-game when ready.
  12. Well, you have 21 days of trial, not 14- so hopefully a good chance to make 200m. Tell you what. If you send me 200m by the end of 21 days, I'll send you a PLEX. As soon as you activate your account by using the PLEX, I'll return your 200m. Now, there cannot be a better deal than that!!
  13. Best of luck in finding a decent corp. Maybe you should think about making one yourself. In case you do, let me/us know. A few of us from Nexus had a corp called D.I.N., but we went our separate ways a couple of years ago. We still hang out in the XDIN channel, which you are welcome to join.
  14. Eve name: Samroski Look forward to seeing you in-game. Forgot all about Incarna deployment, and thus currently twiddling my thumbs and wishing I had set a long skill to train...
  15. hit_man, Buddy Invite sent. Unfortunately I cannot lend you any money/PLEX. I am already offering to give you a free PLEX. In addition to credit card, there are also other ways to pay for Eve.
  16. Did Incursion change your life in any way? Have you fought against the Sansha incursion? For some patches, my life in Eve has not changed much. I've tried a bit of PI recently, which is relatively new. PI has definitely been improved, but still is boring as hell. There have been a number of other minor refinements and lots of hype. The highlight of Incursion for me was when I went to do some missions in Amarr space and came across an incursion. The penalties were such that I felt motivated to kick ass. I discussed in the Incursion channel and went to get my logistics. By the time I got back (the next day) the incursion was over. Hope to catch one at some stage. Training logistics to V in the meantime :) Incarna will take at least 2 years to mature, and nothing to look forward to in the short term imho. Maybe I've become jaded. I still think Apocrypha was the last major patch which introduced extensive new gameplay (WHs, T3, rigs), and changed the way we live. Sound has also never been the same since. Having said all that, I still love Eve to bits.
  17. Edit. 29 Oct, 2012. This offer is no longer valid, ref: dev blog _____________________________________________________________ To encourage more people to try Eve I have the following proposal: I send you a Buddy Invite via email. This gives you a free 3-week trial. Enough time to see if you like Eve. If you then activate your account ($15), I will get a free PLEX. PLEX is an in-game item which when used gives you 30 days of game time. I will hand this PLEX to you in-game, giving you 51 free days of Eve gameplay (total of 81 days). You could even sell the PLEX in-game, instead of using it. This will give you 350-400 million ISK, which is a lot of money for a relatively new player. If interested please message me your email address. Disclaimer: 1. This proposal is not in violation of the EULA. 2. This is not a scam. I have been playing Eve for 3 years and make enough to easily afford many PLEXes a month. Just want more people to have free fun :)
  18. Vertigo at a lava planet's customs office http://i56.tinypic.com/o6d8hi.jpg And I got a Legion :) http://i52.tinypic.com/qozs54.jpg
  19. I nearly applied to the Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center. I had composed my post, when I remembered that I had bought 6 months of POS fuel as a present for myself some time back. So I onlined the POS and have been doing research and invention. Tried inventing some T2 battleships but failed. Am now inventing cruisers and frigates, with the occasional battlecruiser. Am also trying to produce my own POS fuel. This was actually a pleasant surprise, as planetary interaction has been much improved. Have ten installations going at the moment, and hopefully this will have positive results. Have not been paying attention to trade and have this feeling at the back of my mind that I am losing money. There is no immediate or apparent return for the vast amounts of ISK I that have sunk into research and invention. I have no idea what I am going to do with all the T2 BPCs that are piling up. I suppose they may come in useful some day. I could do a lottery, or give them as rewards to corp members for some future activity, or open up a T2 BPC shop, or sell them on contracts, or just hoard them... Have also been buying large amounts of minerals and salvage using buy orders for the last couple of months. Thought I might as well, as the next logical step would be to build some stuff to benefit from the research. This has further reduced my liquid ISK, with again no immediate returns. Thankfully, I am not too keen on building T2 stuff atm, thus eliminating this ISK sink for the time being. Though I have this creepy feeling that I might soon get interested in this aspect of industry.
  20. Too many people had the same idea and now there are no banks left in eve to rob :)
  21. Over the last few months I have turned Games Inc. into a large trading corporation operating in Caldari space. We have a small POS (currently offline) and an industrial base. But the vast majority of our operation revolves around freighting all the goods in New Eden to lucrative small markets and selling them at high profit margins. Sales are slow, but the sheer number (>3000) of market orders makes this highly profitable. Am thinking of leaving the corp to a Director and moving on. And yes. They again messed up my picture when I renewed my pilot's licence: http://i54.tinypic.com/50o215.jpg
  22. Best of luck with your new/next corp. Think most players have experienced a dysfunctional corp. Am currently in a one man (13 alts) corp. Licking my wounds after having been burnt twice :) In fact I am also informally looking for a corp. My experiment with the one-man corp has been pretty successful, and I can hand over operations to an alt. You're probably looking for a pirate corp, whereas I'm looking for some relaxed people with no expectations. Think I may advertise via the recruitment forum.
  23. Yes, some of the old avatars had real character, but I am sure with time the new ones will acquire some themselves. The first week or so with the new avatars was totally funny, with most people messing up. The first time I used the editor I also saved the first pic I took, and that was it!! It was a super-close up, and I have decided to go with extreme close-ups for all my characters :) People have sorted out their avatars now- with most looking pretty decent now.
  24. Welcome to Eve. Eve's a multiplayer game- thus most fun is had when playing in groups. Try and join up with friends who play, or think about joining a corporation. Define a general direction in Eve: PvP or PvE. PvP = player vs player- you can be a pirate or join a null sec alliance and be part of large battles, or spy etc. There is nothing else like PvP action in Eve. It excites feelings and emotions that are hard to describe. PvE = player vs. environment - you can do missions, mine, manufacture, transport, research etc. You could do it all together, and trade on the side- there is so much you can do. Exploring the possibilities in Eve could take you a while, and will be great fun. I also suggest getting frigate V and Cruiser V soon, which open up a lot of cool ships. About trusting people in Eve: my experience has been pretty good with people in Eve. All sorts of things happened (which you can check in my blog here at nexus), but few trust issues. I am a reasonably careful person and have managed to avoid most scams. Nowhere is safe- but most players are pretty safe in high sec. Unless you're carrying expensive cargo in a fragile ship. Nothing you need to be worried about for the first few months. It will not be worth the while for pirates to suicide gank you in high sec. I could go on for a while here- but best to let you play Eve. Have fun and remember that it is all pixels at the end of the day. Oh yes: learn to enjoy ships losses and eve will be the best game ever. Enjoy the shakes you get- no other game does it for you.
