  1. So I saw someone brought up that all of FavoredSoul's mods are hidden now. Thankfully I got the Seeker sword and angel wings before he/she did this. Anyone know if their mods are up on another site? I really want that evening star necklace.

Oh and anyone know why they hid all their files? They have really nice mods...idk why they would hide them

I second this question, i was gutted to find he disappeared :( i loved his mods! thankfully i got all 4 of his mods before i went on hiatus:P

  2. hah thats plain weird @throwing knives mod xDD

as for the bashed patch its all easy enough, just right click on it select rebuild patch, go to the leveled lists parts, click on the mod you dont want and press the remove button on the left, also if the list is empty but you still have all the mods that you had there last time, just click revert to saved, then add your new mods and after the first one all your other ones will reappear :)...as for merge patches, just tick or untick as necessary!

also BOSS is a great utility, not sure if you use it or not, but it auto orders your load order to avoid conflicts and also has some useful notes on mods that should have delev/relev tags and ones not to merge and such like :)....but the order it makes isnt always the best order to use, but as a general rule its usually right :)

  3. oooh some great ideas there! i really like the one about enchanted snowmen as well as normal ones, would always make you look twice at them :psyduck:

also the river rafts one is simply superb!!!! if anyone makes that, they're automatically god.....would be cool to have a proper paddling system as well

anyway all of these things are possible, and i hope they all happen (im sure they will do) as for the moveable airship, things like that are VERY hard to do, just look how long it took sluckyd to get gokstad working, and its still not finished :P...the only reasonable way i can think of is to use the same approach as the XRE mod for FNV which has a special engine that runs alongside the normal game to facilitate moving systems like that, but as for the limitations of the current game engine i cant see it being possible until someone works on such a system :P

oh and for the bounty posters, that could also provide a platform for new radiant quests for good characters, providing a new level of gameplay to both good and bad players :D...actually the more i think about that the better it sounds.....ooooh the possibilities! (damnit whenever i think about an idea my mind runs away with me xDD)

  4. nexus mod manager is a very useful utility for mods, but not all mods install properly with it, mods that require things like scriptdragon have to be done manually....but all mods should come zipped up either in a 7zip file or a rar file, downloading 7zip is a very good idea as its a widely used format for zipping up and unzipping files, once you download a mod and have unzipped it, its simply a case of plopping the files in the right place and activating the .esp file in the skyrim launcher.

as a general rule, all files go in your skyrim/data folder....if you use steam it'll be located in steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/data.....if you dont then im not sure, but pretty much wherever you installed skyrim :).....if dumping the files in the right place requires either overwriting or merging files or folders, say yes, as the folder structure needs to be correct for the game to find all the files, inside the data folder all .esp and .bsa files will be there and there will also be a meshes folder a textures folder, and so on....a .bsa goes into the data folder as it has a sort of internal file structure, its like a weird kind of zipping i guess, but its a lot more stable and better than having loose folders :)

anyways theres a lot more to modding but there are some of the basics, if you have any queries just drop us a message and im happy to answer your questions :)....but the easiest way to use mods is simply to use nexus mod manager!

  5. you tend to get more random dragons after kynesgrove :)....up to then you either get none, or almost none :P.....just plough on through, they'll come! (although they tend to at really annoying times xDD)

as for increasing amounts look to deadly dragons, it makes dragons what they should be, and makes new encounters and such like, also there is a mod that enables dragons from the very beginning, instead of waiting until you've killed mirulmnir in the whiterun jarl quest over at the watchtower :)...and you could always use an encounter mod like ocs or something

  6. hmmm that sounds very odd, not something i've ever heard of :P....did it happen after you installed a particular mod? and if so, which mod?....the usual course of action is to uninstall the mod, try again, and go from there, if you use mods a lot then reinstalling the game is usually something you end up needing to do every so often, so if even with uninstalling all or most of your mods it still doesnt work you might just have to reinstall the game :P.....at any rate try isolating where the problem lies by deactivating mods to see which mod in particular is causing the problem!
  7. sounds bizarre to me, could possible be a problem with running a lot of script heavy mods, personally ive noticed the more scripts added the laggier they become e.g. sometimes when using IMCN i'll eat food but it wont update the values, or frostfall wont update the exposure, even carts wouldnt work o.O....the best advice i can give is to cut down on mods that utilise scripts a lot, and if things stop working like that, just save and reload, that usually clears it up, if it doesnt, restart the game, other than that i dont think theres much you can do.

as for reconstructing saves, i know not of any utilities to help with that so sorry, if its corrupted its corrupted, not too much you can do :P....unless you feel like using the console a ridiculous amount to get your skills and quests back, but thats not too reliable and is very time consuming, and you gotta work by memory :P

  8. I officially declare this question answered! xD

lovely paintings too, and thanks to girlgamer55 for that link!...now i got some nice art to add into some of my homes :)....shooting a kudos your way!

oh and @zenogeist.......This is a resource only, and may be used freely provided credit is given to me....thats a quote from the mods page, so you dont need to ask the dude for permission, just mention his name in your mods credits and maybe put up a link so people can see his mod and shoot him an endorse :)

  9. Sounds like it would work to me, but another good way of cheating the mod limit is to use wrye bash as it can merge multiple esp's together and also merge leveled lists (enabling you to get the benefits of weapons of the third era, and jaysus distribution for instance, but it'd work with any mods that change the same loot lists) its pretty easy to use, and is a very very useful utility, its well documented and is widely used so theres no problems finding tutorials and guides on how to make a bashed patch and use its other utilities, so my best advice is start using wrye bash!

also i think theres a guide on how to use FOMM to merge multiple esp's together somewhere in the modders resource section.

as for lorecraft, congratulations on choosing THE mod for crafting list decluttering! its a fabulous mod and ive used it from the beginning, its got a great team who add lots of modules fairly regularly, and i personally have never had a problem with it ever, so enjoy using it, its a superb system

hope that helped feel free to pm me if you need more info :)

  10. Ill be releasing *the* arena mod once I get all of the quests finished then voiced. I could always use more feedback and opinions if u wanna share any in my [wip] thread. Id link it here...

    but I'm on mah phone.

well im off to your wip thread xD...see you over there.

well i couldnt find it xD but if you drop us a link ill jump over there and give some feedback and such like :)

  11. you will see a lot after tesVedit is released.. but i also see a very dark cloud in skyrim's modding future. and it is the limited memory that the mods are allowed to use..as a whole  i'm going to introduce a very large amount of models and above all textures in the game, but I'm afraid it will cause problems with other large mods if this is not taken care of.

amen to that, hopefully they'll be making an update to fix that :P....i cant see beth overlooking that, i mean it could potentially cause problems with future dlc's :P... its really annoying having to limit how many house mods and such like you use :P but per individual mod ive never had a problem, it only becomes a problem with lots of different mods :PP....tesvedit? will that bit like fo3edit and fnvedit...or something similar to the ck? like skyedit?

  12. hey is it possible to create meshes in autocad and somehow pass them through to the skyrim modmaking program?

hmm wel i dont have any experience with autocad but to import a file into nifskope it needs to either be a .3ds or a .obj file, so if you can either create a file in those formats in the first place, or find a converter then in theory it should work, but its dependent on file types and if converters exist :) once a file is loaded into nifskope then its fairly easy to link up the textures and then import it into the CK (weapons are easier than armours, to do armours it needs to be certain sizes and have ninodes linked up n all sorts :P

  13. well thanks to skyrims incredible popularity the servers are a bit....strained :P....they tend to lag a lot and have problems loading lately, nexus is becoming a victim of skyrims success xDD.....but for the most part it works fine, just has occasional bad periods, just be patient and it should sort itself out :)
  14. um check out the lpteam they are working on a huge lotr mod project and i think are doing quite well, but there are at least 4 seperate LOTR conversion projects going, so i'd recommend contacting them and offering your help :)

oh and nice job dude, personally i'd add some rockiness in there to echo the picture a bit more, but its definately a good start!

also check out the category modders resources, im fairly sure theres some stuff there for LOTR....also just loook at lotr mods, there are definately rohan banners and sutff already about, just go and ask for permission to use their work in your mod :)....most people say yes!.....just make sure you gots permissions :)

  15. well skyrims only been out for 7months or so, and people are still familiarising themselves with the new ck and things, but there are quite a few large and amazing mods in the works all over the place, just takes a bit of looking!....a good way is to search forum threads and so on, and also if you see people who have signatures with this

there is usually some links in here to projects they are working on :):)

um off the top of my head though, check out skyre, step, pise and just for its awesomeness sluckyd's gokstad portable sailable ship

  16. If you get something in NMM saying "mod doesnt exist" the mod itself is fairly new and the servers havent had enough time to update yet, so either waiting a little while then downloading will fix it, or simply trying again a few times (just dont go crazy and click download 50 times, as it wont let you download that file again) or just download manually, if you do download manually and need to put the mod into the manager, just open the manager, look on the left hand menu, and there'll be a button thats a jigsaw with a + sign, just click that, pick add mod from file, find where you downloaded the mod to, and select it, and the manager will import it straight in!

if your missing mod information in the manager, also try the button shaped like an i in a circle with a + sign it should search for the mods information, it doesnt always work though as its a keyword based system :P

  17. dont be afraid dude, just jump right in the deep end, think of something you wanna make in game, then go and learn what you need to do so! theres plenty of tutorials on the creation kit website, and if you get stuck theres plenty of experienced people on the nexus who are always happy to help a new modder!....your definately in the right place to learn though, we have a lovely community over here :)

oh and you'll need a few programs depending on what you want to do, for instance if you want to change textures, you#ll need gimp or photoshop with a .dds plugin (very easy to find, i think theres one on google code)

for making models you'll need something like blender

for pairing textures and models and getting things working properly you'll need nifskope

for editing locations, adding or removing things in game, editing specific game settings, building houses, and all manner of other things, you'll need the official creation kit

you'll also need something to extract files frmo .bsa archives if you edit vanilla items, most people use FOMM as it just works, although you may need to play around to make it work with skyrim (i think just copying the skyrim .exe and renaming it fallout3.exe can fool FOMM into thinking skyrim is fallout, and that'll let you extract teh .bsa archives

there are all sorts of other programs that you may find you need, but as a general rule those ones suffice for most modders needs, if you need links and such like feel free to ask me and ill go and grab them for you, all of those programs are free except from photoshop, anyways i would start with something simple and play to your strengths for instance if you know photoshop or gimp fairly well, why not try some basic texturing!...all you need for that is gimp or photoshop and a .dds plugin! ...its very simple and easy (although becoming really good at it does take time)......anyways theres some food for thought, and i hope you do take the plunge and jump into modding! its not as hard as a lot of people think :)....and remember if your not sure about things, either try experimenting, or just come and ask people :)

  18. well when i first downloaded the game i made a backup using steams backup utility (i also ended up having to install steam in a different place :P) and needed a clean install so i simply went into nmm uninstalled everything, uninstalled my game in steam, then i went into the original skyrim directory, deleted anything left there, uninstaled steam, reinstalled steam to new location, then installed skyrim, reinstalled NMM, chose my new folders, copied all mods from old nmm folder to new one (before i started nmm up, that way it should load up with missing mod info already found) activated what i wanted, started game and all was fine :)

so ye, uninstall, delete anything left over (but you may as well check if anything important is there) reinstall and you'll have a brand new fresh game, until you start modding the hell out of it xD

and yes simply deleting everything in the data folder after uninstalling will make sure there are no mods there and that they arent activated, but i would recommend a reinstall of the mod manager after skyrim reinstall, and also having the NMM mod folder somewhere in your documents that way its easy to access everything, and any mods you've already downloaded you can simply drag and drop into that folder and you wont need to faff around redownloading :)

  19. rofl one of my characters ended up role playing a skooma dealer xDD man i made a lot skooma, punched anyone that looked at me funny, and got really crunked up and played the flute in the tavern!....aaaah the good ol days
  20. I didn't know this. I've logged over 1000 hours and I'm on my 6th play through and didn't know about this dragon. Very cool.

hah same here :O...and i was posting about how ive done essentialy everything not 1 minute ago xDD....time to go find me a cave dragon!

  21. hell theres almost nothing i havent done in this game, ive collected everything, every unique, every daedric artifact, every unique armour, done every quest, literally everything....although i've never done everything on 1 character, but i do accumulate so many things that i frequently have chests that take a minute or 2 to load after i open them xD....im a hell of a hoarder.

so in summary there is almost nothing i havent done on skyrim, and also almost nothing i havent done multiple times in every conievable way :P....but hell i got like 550 hours gameplay :PP

  22. just for reference uesp.net is like the ultimate repository of knowledge for vanilla skyrim! every quest, location and item, literally everything...i mean they are awesome over there!

so if you need specific info about places or quests i'd say thats the place to go, but if you can't find it, be sure to ask over here, we'll definately know, and definately answer (sooner or later xD)

  23. personally i use a lot of mods, many of which tweak the game to be harder, but personally i find that once you master attack block and shield bash there really isnt much any mod can do to make the game harder :P i mean i generally use pretty wimpy gear, for instance i like using the iron sword cause i like how it looks :P....i spose when you get really good you just think, screw ultimate stats, i wanna look cool. so thats my playstyle, i've done pretty much everything there is to do, fought with pretty much every method, so now i just wander, kill new things with new weapons and look frickin badass.

but yes i do agree with the whole easiness and serial dumbing down of games in general over the last few years, its really starting to take the p***, i only hope that the games industry comes back to hardcore gaming instead of this silly casual fad :P (not that i dont understand the whole casual thing, it just aint my style)
