  1. Fun facts: Frostfall can now be integrated into SkyRe! So even more reason to get it (if you like the sound of Frostfall)!
  2. Just made a new heavy armor, destruction and conjuration 1h Dunmer. It almost feels like morrowind when I first got there..... the DLC is much better on lower level characters. My level 35+ just kinda rolled through it (level 41 now post MQ and with full Deathbrand).
  3. Derp I can't believe I forgot this (now time to go see if I can make armor with the Dragon Aspect visual effect....)
  4. This was my first TES game, so when I first started and saw Imperials I flipped out "holy s*** its rome omgomgomg" So I joined the Imperials. (even thought they "tried" to kill me) That aside, having done both at least 3+ times, I prefer Imperials. Not only do I prefer the look of Imperial guards over Stormcloak ones, I also prefer Imperial leaders. Tulius is quite reasonable, and wants a practical solution (if he could, he wouldn't fight the stormcloaks). He has the same dislike towards the Thalmor, he just has better self control than Ulfic. Not to mention that Ulfric just feels like a douche when I talk to him. Also, freaking racist ****s. Dunmer are awesome, and you are bad for hating them and you should feel bad. The ONLY reason I see for joining the Stormcloaks is the house you get (which can be obtained by other means, it's just easiest if you join the Stormcloaks) and the cool Stormcloak officer armor. Also obtainable as Imperials, just takes longer. Plus having played MW now, I think the legion is awesome.
  5. It's not QUITE the water temple, but there are puzzles that involve changing the water level. And there are tentacle monsters at the "end". It's only a matter of time before someone figures out how Beth. did it, and make other versions. It was a pretty fun dungeon.
  6. SkyRe. For the love of god, SkyRe. Once you install, you can't use old characters. Since you're using a fresh install that's not a problem; please check it out. I can't think of reasons NOT to use it.
  7. There is a premade reproccer for Dragonborn out already. SkyRe should work fine with it.... There aren't any AI changes, I think, and there aren't full stet bonuses for new armors, but no crashes. And weapons and armor get edited fine.
  8. As far as the main quest goes.... the island is small. So traveling to the next "dungeon" is an easy affair, and if you've already done a bunch of exploring for other quest, it becomes pretty fast. Favorite part so far is Bloodskal blade, and the Dwemer water temple.
  9. Oh god really? New armor and weapon materials, some unique enchantments, very unique spells and shouts, a plane of Oblivion, Solstheim (Island off coast of Morrowind/Skyrim).... Go to either uesp.net or the Elder scrolls wiki and check it out.
  10. I don't like how Solstheim feels half the size of the one from Bloodmoon. Heck, it may feel even smaller than that. When I can walk to the Skaal village in 5 min from raven rock, and only fight a couple ash hoppers, I am pretty saddened. Compared to Bloodmoon..... It's still an awesome dlc though.
  11. I'm guessing this has next to no compatibility with mods. Just asking; because if I really wanted to respec I'd use the console. I usually just roll a new char :P
  12. It's also somehow immersion-ruining when Elenwen and this Maven b**** don't know who you are at all when you achieved for example the Archmage rank before the Thalmor embassy quest. Guuurls, I've already become someone, one might want to say o.O No, but I don't care about guards... just everyone else. Like Jarls.
  13. I already feel it's better than Dawnguard, and I'm maybe 6 hours in (3-4 quests into main story, and side quests). This might be from MW nostalgia, but the environments are pretty awesome, and the dungeons are a step up from previous ones (in terms of puzzles/traps). New gear is cool, all the Dunmer sound British, and yeah. It's pretty great. If you are really put off, then wait for a steam sale. But if you played MW, then you will love it. Even without the nostalgia, it's great. I will definitely be making a new character to come here asap after I finish on my level 40+.
  14. My first thought when you changed the water level: oh god it's the water temple. And there will be tentacle monsters at the end! o_O I did actually enjoy it, I like the direction the new puzzles are going. Vast improvement from older Skyrim dungeons. Now I am just waiting for an actual water temple mod. Make it happen nexus! I would, but my CK experience does not include environments/dungeon building.
  15. While those kind of bugs are annoying, I definitely appreciate lore-friendly mods now. I used to just use whatever the f*** I wanted, but using stuff that vanilla is much better in my experience. Also, I really hate when people don't recognize the Dragonborn Harbinger Archmage Nightingale Listener when I talk to them. >.> That happened in MW, why did you take it out Bethesda..... (and I know that people comment occasionally, it's just annoying when people treat me like nobody).
  16. Nope nope nope. Wouldn't even play DB until I finished updating SkyRe/Reproccer to handle it. About to jump into CK today to see if I can make a sword with the Bloodskal blade enchant work properly.... because that is honestly my favorite thing from the DLC. I am a modder and I will never go back. I did play through the game on my friend's Xbox originally, so I know what the vanilla experience is like. And mods are much better.
  17. First I just thought it was Miraak preventing it.... but now I'm not so sure. I had to console myself the Earth shout; hopefully this doesn't keep up. Luckily I have a mod which allows you gain dragonsouls over time from combat, so I can still get souls. It's just dragons not "disintegrating" when I beat them.
  18. Considering it's the same price as dawnguard with about x5 the content.... Yes. Played about 6 hours so far, and already leagues better than DG. Also, I have a f***ing Redoran house. Just like my MW chars :D House Redoran ftw! (best vanilla house I've seen so far, even better than a lot of modded ones)
  19. Basically, does anyone else feel a bit dirty when they use in-game systems/exploits at a low level to get good gear? Like getting the Blade of White Woe in balmora, or getting the early Daedric Equip from the Hlaalu councilor (for the ebony mine)? Or using paralysis/scrolls to get early glass/indoril/ebony armor from killing npc's? I've gotten better at pacing myself, but when I can beat Dremora at level 3 for quests and their weps, I kinda feel bad. Also, early Ring of Winds. Just... so good. Not that it's going to stop me, of course. heheheheheheheheh...
  20. A simple magicka regen mod (there are several, google or search the nexus for them) is good if you have played Skyrim/Oblivion and can't get past the lack of regen. Galsiahs Character Development Mod is also pretty good, but it does adjust the stat and leveling system. So if you have too much trouble with the vanilla leveling system, give it a look. I use it just for the more streamlined approach. If you choose to use an accuracy mod (b/c you get tired of missing), don't use one that just makes it like Oblivion/Skyrim. The whole hit/miss feature is a pretty big part of the game, and keeping the feel of a DnD style attack is important. Here is a good one I use (with the 25% option) : Combat Experience: Depth Perception
  21. I also came from Skyrim to MW, and at first used 0 mods. That takes a bit of getting used to. Recommendations for new players: The Morrowind Graphics & Sound Overhaul Morrowind Code Patch (which is included in the overhaul if you choose to use it) Possibly a simple magicka regen mod, as it gets annoying to regen magicka in towns if you can't rest. As for skills... Make a custom class, and pick a weapon skill (I recommend at least 1, and a melee one at that) as a major skill. And go beat up on random mobs til you get to 45+ in that skill, so that you hit on a more reliable basis. Other good class skills are Alteration and Mysticism. Alteration lets you open locks, levitate, travel faster, and is just all around useful. Mysticism is also good due to the travel spells (which you will be using, so might as well make it a class skill), and Telekinesis, which is a must if you plan on stealing stuff. And don't try to mix armor types, I did on my first couple of characters, and it was a waste of a skill. The unofficial Elder scrolls pages has lots of useful information regarding the skill and leveling system, and advice for new players. And congrats, this game is awesome once you get used to the differences from Skyrim. I haven't played Oblivion, but I don't really feel I need to having played MW, and Skryim for a more "streamlined" TES game. And it is possible to beat anything at any level if you have enough understanding of the game, but avoid taking on tough enemies (like guards, or daedra) early on. You will get spanked. Often.
  22. The MGSO (Morrowind Graphics & Sound Overhaul) is pretty great if you can't really stand the lower graphics; it improves them while keeping the vanilla feel. However, you definitely need the Code Patch (which is included in the overhaul) for bugfixes, and some nice features you may want to enable (like the toggle sneak, etc). I use a couple other mods (such as the Galsiah's Character mod, which adjusts level system, imo, to a much better and more TES like feel). You may want to wait to add these until you have a grasp of the vanilla systems and game first, so you know what is actually changed. But for the most part, MW is pretty great on its own. Yes, the magicka takes getting used to (use a slow magicka regen mod if you really need to, so that you can restore magicka WITHOUT having to rest, just wait). And the new spell distribution is also a bit different, esp. coming from Skyrim (not sure how different it is from Oblivion). I recommend a custom class, and including alteration and mysticism in your major/minor skills for their utility, esp. for a new player. I also recommend picking a melee weapon as a major skill, so you can improve your hit chance early on (long blades are a safe pick). Check out the Unofficial Elder Scrolls pages for hints for a new player, and look at the way the leveling system and skills work (which is very different from later games). And most of all, stick with it for at least 10+ hours, because then you should start to get into it and enjoy the game :D Also, remember to use your journal often if you get lost regarding quests. And pay for training, esp. low level skills so that you can get those nice stat multipliers when you level up. And if you are using the GOTY edition, do not go into Tribunal early on. You will be destroyed.... it's meant for post main quest characters. Solstheim is also a bit hard for new characters, although after level 10 (maybe earlier if you know what you're doing) you should be ok.
  23. This is probably great if you don't have a decent graphics processor, but using an nVidia Geforce 650 I can consistently get 40-60 fps, with the highest graphics settings on (and good god the difference between the low and high settings is noticeable). So if you run this off a laptop or older pc, then sure, but I feel the MGSO is already pretty optimized. Thanks anyway :D
  24. Also, one of the left handed attack anim's is a thrust. If you flipped it, it could work for lance/shield combo.
