  1. I'm not saying I am older than dirt but I remember when it smelled new and the moon was the size of a silver dollar...
  2. That picture was taken inside a tent during a music festival in east Texas about 15 years ago... I have quite a selection of "performing" shirts but don't wear any of them anymore...played in a Texas Country Band for 8 years....good times & good memories The reason I bought this shirt was exactly as you say...The Lone Ranger.... The musical instrument's name is Rosebud...custom built by hand, carved with finger planes...based on the Lloyd Loar F-5 Mandolin Specs with some improvements and my custom inlays...took my luthier, Vince Pawless, 5 years to build it... Just watched Hugo...went through the whole range of emotions, even a damp eye every now and then...what I got from it was everyone has a purpose in life and it is up to you what direction you take...anything's possible with enough ambition and work....
  3. Thank you for the inspiration this thread gives...and thank you for the tip on HUGO....I watched the trailer and now I will have to put gaming aside for a while while I try and find the movie... Hope you don't mind, but I added you as a friend also... V/R, pops
  4. I was just looking at the poll and noticed the same as you.... I would love to see another category added....surely I would not be the only one over 70 V/R, pops
  5. @ Ac3s.. sorry for the long lag time in this response... I truly appreciate it...and all basements work beautifully with a lot of other house mods too...you just have to be careful when building the basements to not block the doorway... Thank you for your work, pops
  6. It's too bad we can't have the best of both worlds... When it comes to NPCs/Followers, it seems that FO4 is superior to SSE in that you have the ability to edit NPCs at will using SLM, however SSE has a bunch more followers available to DL and play with... So it seems SSE makes up for it's lack of NPC editing by having more followers to choose from... Just a comment, nothing requested or suggested... pops Edit: I just remembered a tool I used a while back that allows you to change any NPC in the game to another NPCs visual appearance....meaning, if you have a character/NPC loaded into your game, you can take the visual appearance of that NPC to another NPC... link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/8764 I know this is not what you (we) want but it still allows you to change anyone in the game to another NPC in the game... pops
  7. Indeed. I don't think anyone wants to visit anywhere at this point. Trump just stopped travel to most places in Europe........ One of the things I found interesting about the current virus scare is, doesn't seem that younger kids are nearly as susceptible as adults. Anyone remember the Star Trek (original series) where the population of the planet had been experimenting with life extending treatments, and killed off all the adults? (and the kids live for hundreds of years.....) Miri. Yes I remember. Its a bit of mystery why kids aren't as susceptible its thought their immune systems are better though that doesn't apply in the case of influenza to which they're in the at risk group (had that when I was a kid it was one of my worst experiences of my life) I'm in a higher than average risk group for coronavirus so I'd be lying if I said I wasnt worried. Yep. That's the one. I am in a fairly 'high risk' group as well, not only am I older, my immune system sucks. So, if I catch it, good chance it'll kill me...... Not something I look forward to. (imagine that.) @HeyYou....are you sure you're not Hey Boy?....just kidding, and if you are as old as I am, you know what I am talking about....Wire Paladin..HGWT Anyway, I just wanted to say I hope you stay well and can get thru this ....I, myself, am in the high risk group...at almost 71 and after 6 heart attacks, I have to watch where I go, if anywhere... Good luck to you and yours pops
  8. gotcha...and that makes more sense...no use re-inventing the wheel...I did not know I could update the page...thank you Mike... pops
  9. That would be a good option if I had a clue about wiki...heck, I can barely spell it...
  10. good place to start even though it is really an abbreviated list...thank you... I've got it started...now if I can figure out how to make this excel spreadsheet available to the community...it only contains the information from Wiki so far but I will be working on it in my spare time... Getting ready to head to Pensacola until after the first of the year so I won't have my desktop with me...I will have to use my laptop to continue this work... Can anyone tell me how to get an excel file available for the public to view?
  11. You know, after thinking about this subject, I think I will start a database containing Acronym information... Information to be documented: 1. Acronym 2. Long Version 3. Applicable Mod 4. Date Added If anyone can think of what else, please tell me... This will be an ongoing effort as new mods are added...if anyone wants to help me, I would like that. If we can get several people to get involved, I can try and keep up with the added items... I will probably use an excel spreadsheet since that is a software package I am really familiar with...if someone does not like/have excel, I can try and convert the file to a text file if I can without messing up the formatting... If there is interest shown in this, I will open a new subject in the FO4 forum somewhere To Be Determined (TBD) pops
  12. I would like to make a suggestion/recommendation for mod authors. Some of the authors already follow this method and I was hoping to "standardize" the way acronyms are introduced/used on the description page.. Now mind you, I am a retired engineer and not an English professor...and a lot of people may see this as nit-picky however..,. The subject of Acronyms was addressed in a Technical Writing class I had many, many years ago. They taught the proper way to introduce an acronym into your writing is to type out the full "thing" to be "acronymedized" then use the acronym (Capital Letters) for the rest of your subject unless there is a specific need to use the long version. Example: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) IMO this would make reading the descriptions a lot simpler...especially for the new folks. I totally understand most of the time you can figure it out, but..... Thank you to all the mod authors for your hard, dedicated work that makes this site what it is... V/R, pops
  13. I use Lakeview Extended by in all of my playthroughs...I especially like the extended basement portion of that mod..I wrote the mod author (see below - copy and paste of my conversation)....I haven't a clue as to how much work it would be... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15 August 2019, 7:32AMWould it be possible to adapt the basement mod (Lakeview_Extended_Basement -- an extra bedroom in the basement with beds for 8 people) to Windstad and Heljarchen? It would be great to have eight (16 if using My Home Is Your Home) beds for followers at each hearthfire home. pops Ac3s member 3,649 posts 164 kudos Report Reply 16 August 2019, 4:20AM it would be possible, but I won't do that since I never had any interest in the other manors and I don't even play skyrim or mod anymore, but if someone else wants to do that then by all means he/she can go for it, provided they get my permission of course. popvirus2 premium 280 posts 3 kudos Report Reply Edit post 16 August 2019, 6:15AM Excellent and thank you for your response...maybe I can come up with something... po ------------------------------------ would anyone be willing to attempt this adaptation? 15. OK...I pulled the trigger after doing some more research and here is what I ordered this morning.... CyberPowerPC - Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i9 - 16GB (to 64) Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - 4TB Hard Drive + 500GB Solid State Drive - Black ordered 64gb memory upgrade…. what do you think? will get it the end of june... pops
  16. thank you for your response...actually I have not thought about building a machine myself...would not even know where to start but I know there is a lot of information available on "how to"...one main reason for wanting to buy one is the warranty...I had to replace my current MSI after three months because one of the cooling fans had a bad bearing and was very noisy...the heat build up is so bad I can hardly touch the laptop right above the cooling fans I had not thought about Bethesda and 60 fps...good point...and that saves me money since I won't need a new TV. the computer I looked at yesterday was an ASUS with an 8th gen intel i7 8700K processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, 1 terabyte ssd...on sale for $1800...I play almost exclusively SSE and FO4...sales person told me there is absolutely no wait time for loading....of course he was a "salesman" and that is why I came here looking for advice.. either way, I am 6 weeks from making a decision...target date is 1 July 2019... again, thank you for your response pops
  17. first off my terminology may not be so correct...retired gearhead here that just uses electrons :) I currently am playing on an MSI laptop with a Nvidia GEForce GTX 1060 graphics card (computer information on profile) 256 ssd/1 terabyte hard drive/16 gb system memory/6gb video memory/intel i7-7700HQ processor x4. I went to best buy for my first look at a desktop instead of a laptop today and wanted to just jump in the deep end and buy a faster than greased lightning gaming pc...but the issue is I don't really know what I am looking for...but I sure don't want to wait 3 minutes for FO4 to load any more. I won't say I want the fastest market available gaming desktop but I don't want to wait on loads any more...I will be upgrading my television also since it will be used as my monitor...currently using 60 inch 4k sony for my laptop...but it is a 60 fps rig so I will probably go to a 144 fps capable 60 inch minimum tv... If you had some money to burn, what would you buy... any serious recommendations would be deeply appreciated... this may be the last gaming rig I will ever buy since I am 3 months shy of 70 years old... V/R, pops
  18. OK...last post on this subject. First off let me say, I am not trashing anybody's work or mod, I am simply saying what my problem was, a few of the results, what I did and how I approached the problem...I have endorsed all mods that I mention in the following so I have no animosity towards anyone.. As you can see from the above post, I have been into SSedit and have finally solved my No Varnius Junius in the Blue Palace. It took a lot of time and understanding of the information that was presented by running SSEdit's "apply filter to show conflicts" on my whole load order...then I looked at the Quests and NPCs in skyrim.esm to determine conflict/overwrites...specifically MS06Start and Varnius Junius. I then removed any mod I had installed that touched the Quest MS06Start, VJ, Dragonbridge (specifically the four shields tavern/inn), and the Blue Palace... What I was looking for was anything that could have had an impact on the behavior of VJ, be it AI changes or changes to the cells he shows up in.... After several hours of deliberation and these old eyes scanning the conflicts (and/or overwrites), I decided to remove all that touched these items. It takes me a good 20 hours of gameplay to get to the Blue Palace the way I play...I have Flower Girls installed and need to make a lot of side stops along the way to Solitude.. The list was too numerous for me to remember and I made the mistake of not writing the mods down that I uninstalled. I lost a lot of mods I normally use because of dependency on other mods.... I will list a few mods I removed ... One that sticks out in my head was the Immersive High Hrothgar Elevator...lots of various conflict winners with this one...and I was surprised it touched as many areas as it did...anyway....it was uninstalled. Immersive Wenches was removed because I saw a snippet about it interfering with MS06Start....could be because it adds wenches to the Blue Palace and if I am not mistaken, it adds a gal standing exactly where VJ is supposed to be...probably not the cause but I removed it anyway. AddItemMenu was removed because of conflicts and also UIExtensions was removed because it is a requirement for AddItemMenu. And last but not least and the most impact on my load order was USSEP...SSedit showed conflicts with MS06Start, and VJ. I had a conversation with the USSEP authors about these conflicts (over on the USSEP mod page)...which they said the changes they made was to prevent VJ from walking back and forth every day...but that it should not have any impact on JVs movement. So after about 30 hours of work and research in SSedit and a complete restart including refreshed game files, and all that encompasses (SKSE, ini changes, etc) I started a new game.... played it kind of slow to begin with in anticipation of VJ not being in Solitude for the fourth straight start...Irritation occurs when for the fourth straight start, there is no VJ …almost to the point of simply quitting Skyrim SE and going back to Fallout 4 (it also has issues I have to work through, especially the extremely slow loading time)....but I had rather play SSE. I have finally achieved success and as soon as I peeked up the stairs in the Blue Palace on this new game....guess what...I hear VJ starting to talk about the strange noises coming from wolf skull came....yippeeee.... My load order is down to 205 plugins from 242....and a lot of the mods I love were removed...for instance Scoped Bows was removed because of its dependency on USSEP...I have endorsed and used Immersive Wenches many playthroughs but removed the mod because of the impact it has on the Blue Palace... Anyway, what I recommend is if you have a problem with VJ either not showing up in the Blue Palace or him showing up and just Standing there, the best advice I could give you is to do exactly what I did...go to work in SSEdit and eliminate your conflicts.... If one person reads this and can use this information in eliminating this (game breaking IMO) error, I will be satisfied... I wish I had thought of doing this in the first place instead of bothering the mod authors....they have a lot on their plates and I appreciate their efforts and skill. V/R, Pops
  19. OK...I may be talking to myself here since no one has responded to this... but...I went into SSEdit and did a little looking...just loaded entire load order in SSEdit and then checked for conflicts with Skyrim.esm…. What I found after looking in the NPC list of Skyrim.esm was his sleep and sandbox package was modified by USSEP (or at least that is what I deduce)...lines 1 & 2 are what is shown under the Skyrim.esm column, while lines 3 & 4 were added under the USSEP.esp. I have tried to show how it appears in SSEdit. Skyrim.esm USSEP.esp DefaultSleepEditorLoc24x8 [PACK:0001B210] DefaultSandboxEditorLocation512 [PACK:0001B217] USKPVarniusJuniusSleep24x8 [PACK:05006CAB] USKPVarniusJuniusDefaultSandbox [PACK:05006CAC] Can/Will someone please help me understand this... could this be the cause of JV not leaving Dragonbridge? any help/insight would be deeply appreciated, V/R, pops
  20. I know the subject of "The Man Who Cried Wolf" not starting has been beat to death, but most of the time it is just him standing there not starting his talk about the strange noises... I also know the subject of Varnius not being in the Blue Palace has also been discussed because I have read the few comments (less than 10)... So now, I ask the question....since this bug/glitch or whatever you want to call it has been around for many years (first mention of subjects was back in 2011/2012 as far as I can tell thru internet searches and searches on Nexus) has anyone found an absolute fix for this quest?... I am at my wits end trying to figure this out...my issue is no Varnius in the Blue Palace...I have tried moving him to me after getting his numbers thru the console and using moveto player...yup he shows up and immediately turns around and heads back home... Could this be because something somewhere along the line interferes with his movements? I bet I have read over 200 pages of conversation/comments about this bug/glitch but nothing but a few answers that all involve using console commands to either start or advance the quest. However, if there is no Varnius, what good will it do to use setstage ms06start 5 when he is not there...I have tried setting stage 15 and the quest "widow too soon" starts but when I talk to Falk, he is clueless... I am going to try and use setstage ms06start 250 to see if I can simply skip this quest by telling the game it is complete and hope this does not interfere with any other quest that depend on this... by the way, this is my first time visiting solitude this play through and I have a reason to be there because of the Dragonborn quest line....on my way to see Malborn…but went straight to the palace and bypassed talking to anyone until I got there... I anyone has a definitive answer to this issue, please let me know... pops
  21. Thanks for your redesigns...they add a real "homey" feel to the communities pops
  22. to an untrained eye (mind), my first guess is that you are overloading your graphics card...that sometimes happens to me... since you have been modding a lot longer than me, this is just a guess.. I would check my graphics settings or maybe set them to low resolution to see if that makes any difference... hope this helps pops
  23. I have looked to see if I could find a more appropriate location for this post and decided if I post it in the wrong place, one of the moderators or somebody will tell me... Questions are about "ini" files... 1. Would someone please explain to me what ini files are supposed to be where. (talking Skyrim SE here) I have (or had) duplicate "ini" files in my game folder and also in my steam path game folder and from researching the subject of duplicity, I decided to delete (saved for future reference if needed) the skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini file from my Steam game folder...(D:\STEAM\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition) and left the ini files in my game folder alone(C:\Users\Ronnie\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition) There is a Skyrim_Default.ini that evidently is installed when an update for the game is DL-ed to the Steam folder. anyway, I probably have effed up my ini file locations and need help understanding them... right now there are three ini files for both skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini...(ini, ini.baked, ini.base) in my game folder (...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition)) and only the Skyrim_Default.ini file here (STEAM\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition) I use SKSKSE64 and papyrus and have tried to get the ini files edited to allow the scripts to work and report errors...which seem to work ok since I followed the instructions. post is getting too long and my attention deficit is kicking in...could someone be kind enough to help me understand what goes where please? Follow on Question: Fallout4 has a custom ini file....Fallout4Custom.ini Does Skyrim SE need a SkyrimCustom .ini like FO4 thanks to anyone that decides to decifer my thoughts...lol pops
