  1. Yeah, the cheap price is what won me over. I wouldn't have been able to squeeze it into the budget this month if it was priced like most new games. I have to say, I think the battle system is quite interesting. You basically get three stages upon initiating a fight, long range, medium range and short range. During these phases, you choose a card to play, such as taking the enemy's regeneration systems offline. Your enemy also plays a card, and his card can then counter yours, in which case his card's effect activates and yours doesn't, or it can draw, meaning both cards either activate or get cancelled out, or it can be countered by your card, in which case your effect activates and his doesn't. For a TBS game, it's a pretty nifty and interesting system.
  2. Can the forums software actually handle this? Some people I know run a VB forum, and they often have to lock threads and open new ones because it causes issues with the forum database if threads get too long.
  3. It's got both single and multiplayer.
  4. I bought it two days ago, and it is amazing. It is the revival the old-school 4X genre needed. Also, you can play as Amoeba. :3
  5. Guys, expect see at least 50 more of these threads on this forum before the game actually releases. Regarding videogames, I'm pretty cynical, but at least I wait until a game is out and I've played it myself before I start going on about how much it sucks.
  6. Regardless of your mood, it's still a very petty comment to make, indicating that you don't want other people to have fun simply because you don't want them to. Either way, I'll drop it, seeing as you did edit the post.
  7. Hold off a bit. The Steam Summer Sale is coming up either next week or the week after, then it will probably be discounted.
  8. That is quite honestly the dumbest thing I've heard all day. We're crybabies for asking to play a game on the platform of our choice? You need to get your head checked.
  9. It's an amazing game, but it suffered from some serious performance issues last time I tried it. Maybe I should try again, seeing as I formatted my PC a few months ago.
  10. I didn't really enjoy E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy all that much. It had some nice ideas, but I found it to be poorly executed.
  11. Good? Good? :o Arcanum was amazing! :P I enjoyed it even more than Diablo 2, seeing as it was more of an RPG like Baldur's Gate, as opposed to Diablo 2's more simplistic Hack 'n Slash nature. It's a bit dated, but if you can look past that it's a pretty good game.
  12. There's also Anachronox. A bit on the older side, but I've heard good things about it it and it's available for cheap on Steam.
  13. I would suggest anyone who pulls the 'but men are portrayed unrealistically too' angle to have a look at this video http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-big-picture/4719-Gender-Games Say all you might, how often do you see a male character being posed simply for the sex appeal? How often do you see a female character being posed to convey anything other than sex appeal? And with that, your argument loses any credibility it might have had. Good job on not understanding the issue at all.
  14. I made a thread about this site about two or three years ago, I think. I'll try and dig it up somewhere.
  15. The fact that it's pretty much the same as every other year. Dozens of sequels we all knew were coming anyway and a handful of new IPs.
  16. I liked Dead Island's way of approaching the whole thing. People infected with the virus were fast and menacing, but after a while the virus kills them and they come back as slow zombies.
  17. I love Diablo 3 so far, but I have one major criticism. So, in other words, items are dropped according to their availability on the AH, meaning that if a lot are available on the AH, they won't drop. Expect loot drops to get continuously worse as time goes by, and expect to be forced to pay those ridiculous prices people charge for items on the AH. It's pretty much ruining the experience for me. It's really frustrating beyond all hell being level 21, beating a boss and having the best item she drops be a level 8 belt.
  18. I administrate the ZA1 server. You're welcome to play on it, as the server is still relatively free of most of the issues plaguing most american and european servers, like people having CoD mentalities and shooting everyone and everything on site. The only thing that might be a hindrance is that we've got a 225 latency limit on the server. A lot of internationals still manage to pass under it, but it servers to keep the server relatively open so that the locals have slots to play.
  19. Yeah, it's definitely not a UAC error. I had it installed a few weeks ago and it ran fine. A quick google search shows that you're not the only one experiencing issues with this Tages DRM, so I guess it's a very hit-or-miss issue. Really sucks when DRM prevents you from playing a game. I had similar issues with a few Securom protected games over the years, the last of which was Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War. Do what I will, the Securom simply would not run on my PC, rendering the game useless. Don't even know if I still have the game, tbh.
  20. Solution: 1 - Put game disc on floor. 2 - Jump up and down on game disc. That's really the only other solution there is. If you're not willing to put up with Steam and not willing to put up with Tages, then you're not going to be able to play the game legally. Might as well have some fun destroying the game disc, as it's useless to you regardless. Simple as that.
  21. I actually rather enjoyed the game. Wasn't as good as Diablo 2 or even Sacred 1, but I can't really say I was ever disappointed with the money spent on the game. As for the always-online requirement, I was actually rather unphased by it. Release week was a bit annoying with the overloaded servers, but it's fine now. I've had a permanent internet connection to my PC for the last three years, and I can probably count the amount of days it wasn't connected to some form of internet in that time on my two hands. Doesn't bother me all that much.
  22. You don't have to memorise a price list to know what the average price of a videogame in South Africa is. You're pathetic. You were arguing that PC games were cheaper to buy off Steam than at retail. Console games didn't even factor into your argument. You lied, you got caught, now get over it. I'm not even going to bother furthering the argument, because we both know you got caught with your hands in the cookie jar,and now you can't let it go now that you've been caught. Anyone in the thread can see what happened here, so I honestly don't know who you're trying to fool. I don't think you're even convincing yourself.
  23. But you were blatantly lying, because you said you got your prices from BTGames. I pointed out the prices from BTGames are not what you claim they are.
  24. Those are standard pre-order prices. If the price of it increases after release, it certainly doesn't double. It might go up by R50, at most. This is a forum, yes, and like any other place of discussion, you should talk sense. If you think someone is going to let it slip when you use lies in a debate, then think again. I don't 'examine and verify' every detail of every post, but if you lie by saying the prices of items are double what they really are, I am going to point it out.
  25. And while we're at it, have a look at this pre-order round-up for Skyrim done by MyGaming on the 9th of November. http://mygaming.co.za/news/features/15449-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-pre-order-roundup.html Notice BTGames' price, the one you claim to buy from? Nowhere close to the R650 you claim to have paid. Not even the console one was that expensive.
