Nuka world.... What was your Decision?
LucidLady replied to NVBlues's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I almost always keep the raiders alive. As far as I see it, they're not much worse or self serving than any of the other factions in the game. The only reason they don't farm for themselves is because they don't WANT to. Can you imagine how much they could do if that wasn't a problem?I I do wish there was more to Nuka World, though. I quite like it. I wish you could finish the main story with them. I wish they had a rivaling faction. Maybe the triggermen. I wish more happened with the 5 theme parks. Like little cities actually sprang up with more quests. -
Anything but the BOS, basically. They're a bunch of asswads. Super annoying. Also, I really dislike Power Armor. I wish any of the main game factions catered to Melee at all. But I guess that's not important. Minutemen is always the best choice. But if i had to choose between Institute and Railroad, I guess I choose... Institute. RR has some real interesting quests, don't get me wrong. And alot of the Institute's decisions seem unnecessarily cruel. But the Institute has more fun toys, what can I say? The relay grenades are fun. And on survival, the teleport to the center of the map is super nice. The RR is just doomed to failure, is all I can see. Their cause is crazy. And they don't care about real, actual people.

It's not even a question. The very best companion is Hancock. At least, he's my favorite... He has the most interesting comments. About enemies. About locations. About events. About EVERYTHING. I swear he has the largest number of lines of dialogue out of all the companions. And like I said, his dialogue is the most genuinely interesting and cute on top of that. Also, he himself is such a cutie. Hancock's a doll, I wouldn't have him any other way. And his voice is like audio porn. I really love how he simply loves your character. I may be bias, but I swear he loves the SS more than any of the other romance companions does. He thinks the absolute world of the SS and it wouldn't surprise me if he kills himself after your character's death. Also, he is the only companion that doesn't freak out like you've tainted their virgin ears each time you flirt with him. (well, him and Gage now) That's just refreshing. You have to read in between the lines with Hancock unfortunately. Unlike the other romance companions, he doesn't bash you over the head with ham fisted, flowery romantic lines. So i'm certain alot of people take him as less serious, or more joking when they romance him. Other than Hancock though, I guess my next favorite is Cait. I simply relate alot to Cait. I relate plenty to Hancock too, but moreso with Cait. That obviously doesn't mean I necessarily LIKE Cait more. I just see where she's coming from. I appreciate her angle. I wish she had more interesting, more plentiful, dialogue. But I guess they can't all be Hancock. I also wish we agreed more. She simply dislikes too many of my natural inclinations. Which is so the opposite of Hancock, btw. I find Hancock's the easiest to gel with, without even trying. The thing about Cait is, she puts on a big Tough front. But she really just wants someone to wrap her up and say everything's gonna be alright. Pay attention when romancing her - she comes to you fragile and in a panic, and if you choose the romantic options, it's just you trying to calm her and put her at ease. She's been through some s#*!. Her entire life. I can relate.

Papa Rotzi : He's a ghoul reporter. A paparazzi. I made him a pistol that fires like a junk jet. And it's full of Cameras and Newspapers as ammo. With a split barrel. So every shot is like five cameras and Newspapers at a time. And the legendary effect is Staggering. Because that's funny. I just went ahead and gave him 5000 cameras and Newspapers. He sells any he picks up, gotta make a living somehow. Another character i quite enjoy is UB-2. A synth that's all about the institute. She was given the false memory sequence at the start of the game, of prewar Sanctuary. And... she liked it. She loved prewar Sanctuary. It was clean and orderly. Mostly clean. She hates germs. This apocalypse is disgusting. She only eats prewar food. And totally agrees with X6-88 that the surface world should die out. She wants to burn it all down, so she uses a wide variety of flamers. Which is hilarious, because it means she has to get really close to kill things. Which means she's likely to get touched. Which means germs.

Just assign individual settlers to each post. The first one you assign will take up all three posts, but you can still just assign another settler to one of those three. They won't take over the others that the first settler already has claimed. Same thing works with crops. Not that you'd want it to...

So, Do you play FO4 as a male or female?
LucidLady replied to Fkemman11's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Aw heck, i know that. Not trying to "win" here. But like you said, it's nice to chat about this with someone else who has actual interest. Anyhoo, let me tell you, I'm currently playing fallout on a potato. My computer is just... terrible. Which is sad, i built her myself only three years ago. But, regardless, Heather has been totally fine. Stability wise. I don't attribute any crashes to her. So I'd say go for it. Also, if you want a good mod for multiple companions, the only one I've found that doesn't conflict with anything is Followers Extended. You equip 1 of 20 rings to any NPC, and they follow you. Simple. And, useful. Those rings work perfectly when you have a bug where you can't dismiss a companion. The only problem is, you can target the follower wearing the rings in VATS, and that could make you crash. On consoles, Anyway. Hasn't happened on my potato yet. Also, check out Create Followers. Yeah, though. Hancock is my #1. Heather is #2. Ellen is... way down the list. Below Piper. Something i thought only Danse was capable of. (In case that wasn't clear, i hate Danse. He's a bad person) Ellen doesn't have entertaining dialogue. Simple as that. And she has zero personality. She might be more interesting if you played previous fallout games, but i don't see that helping her case much... And her perk? For maxing affinity? It's terrible. I mean, it makes sense, but i don't want it. And there's no way to opt out of it, short of avoiding maxing relationship with her. You can indeed change Hancock's outfit. And, i know there's a mod that lets you change Nicks outfit too. But, i can't imagine Nick wearing anything else. So, i understand why people feel like, even if you can, it's "not right" to change Hancock's. Which is unfortunate, he's cute in everything. lol Not gonna shame you for not appreciating the ghoul look. Looks aside, Hancock's voice actor must have just gone above and beyond to add extra dialogue. That's all i can assume. Hancock just has so many little things to say. It really pays to stop, and ask him his thoughts everywhere. But, i do wish the base game companions hasd more unique abilities tied to their personality. If we're talking purely useful, they're all about the same. Cait might win the usefulness crown, because she picks locks, and is the only companion that can sneak effectively. It would be nice if Hancock could... i dunno, craft chems out of junk you give him. Stuff you couldn't create yourself with the same ingredients. That would be real special. On the subject of Preston, i like... the idea of him. I love his story, it's adorable. But once you hear it, it's done. Bethesda really did him dirty, it's such a shame. Back when i was playing Vanilla survival, i did give the other companions weapons that I thought fit for them. X6-88 got a plasma sniper. Danse got a gattling laser. Nick got a 44. Piper got a laser. But, i gave Hancock what I just thought was best. Which, for a long time, was The Last Minute. But then, when we were in a big fight, I'd have him use the Salvaged Assaultron Head. It irradiates the user, so since Hancock's a ghoul, each shot healed him. Also it looked cool. And at the end, i gave him Aeternus. Unlimited, free Gattling laser looked real good on Hancock. I also gave him the Alien Blaster, because my baby is out of this world already. And, if i saw a behemoth or something big coming up, i had him use Sgt Ash. The crippling flamer you get from far harbor. It ended any fight immediately. Also, grenades. I never ever used them myself, but companions... they have perfect aim. I just gave any grenades i found to them. I'll never get over it, once we were being shot at through a crumbling hole in the wall. A pretty small crack. But from like six feet away Hancock threw a fukken grenade through it. Magnificent. Nowadays, i just let them use their base guns. I would prefer my companions to not fight at all. I wanna do all the skull bashing myself. So, if i do have to give them a gun, it's gonna be a revolver. Slow shots. Or the harpoon gun. -

Yeah, unfortunately alot of people miss out on Hancock just because he's a ghoul. Also, most people just assume his character is nothing but Chems schtick. But, I'd say chems are the least interesting and prominent part of his character. And, i know most people feel like they can't change his outfit. So, that doesn't help people warm up to him. Anyway, agreed about Nick. I don't fancy travelling with a nanny. And as for MacCready, his personality just never did it for me. He's whiny. And, like you said, every companion is equally good with every gun. Hancock wrecks face with a gauss rifle. But, I'm struggling with how mistaken you are about the difference in amount (not even counting quality) of dialogue these modded companions have. She has the absolute smallest pool of dialogue. And that small pool is reeeeally boring. In my personal opinion, of course. Ive got over 100 total days of gameplay under my belt, I've done whole playthroughs dedicated to each base game companion. And so far, i truly don't think any have as much travelling dialogue as Hancock. I think Piper has the least lines, of all the base game companions. And Ellen seems to have less than that. Which could be forgiven if her lines were interesting, but they're not. And the voice acting is just as boring. You say all companions get just 300 lines to work with? Honestly, that's the first I've heard of it, but I believe you. Hancock must use every line, is all i can assume. And these modded companions must come nowhere near. The difference is just so clear to me. I guess you and me are just different in what we value out of companions. I don't care how good they are in a fight, I'd prefer they don't interfere at all. And looks are purely subjective. (Though i do happen to find Hancock the most attractive) What I value the most, is what they have to say about where you are, and whatever other entities are there. Like I said before, it really makes it seem like they're really there with you, seeing what you're seeing, smelling what you're smelling, killing what you're killing. Which makes me feel like I'm actually in there, too. And depending on the companion, their dialogue in these fields can paint those scenes/locations in all kinds of different lights. This is something that all the modded companions lack. The only reason i say Heather wins is because she is so uniquely useful. Her store function is just so handy. Particularly the fact that it never restocks. Basically, if i give Heather 1000 Nuka Cola, she'll always have all of that in her shop, until you buy it all up. So effectively, she can become any kind of shop i want. Now, besides that, i really like her character too. She hires YOU. And as you get to be closer, she lowers her prices. Nice. And if you let her work on chemistry stations twice per level, her shop inventory updates. Nice again. Her voice acting kinda sounds like somebody's mom... but, she actually sounds like a real person. I can't say that about any other modded (or some base game) companions. But yet another handy feature is her teleport button. A simple relief. And, when you tell hee to Stay, she effectively dismisses herself. She'll walk around and interact with whatever is around the area you tell her to stay, as if you dismissed a companion to a settlement. Except, she'll do this absolutely anywhere. And another thing I really liked, is her special dialogue based on certain items you give her to hold. For instance, i noticed she would sometimes say "I could go for some Noodles" when i went to trade with her. So, i gave her a Noodle Cup, and she said thanks! I always give cigarettes and lunchboxes and robot models to Hancock, itd be adorable if he'd comment about it. But, i dunno anything about feeding her scraps? Anyhoo, for all those reasons combined, Heather is my second favorite companion. Even compared with the base game companions. -

Well, yeah. Ellen's "snarky" comments are... nonexistant. All of her commentary is just completely boring and map related. She never seems to warm up to the player. Her dialogue, even after maxing her out, is the same as when you first meet her. And the voice acting is X6 tier of emotionless. Not only that, but her personality is... nothing. She makes maps. It's like, "Hi, i'm Barbie! And today, i'm a Cartographer!" Piper's the same, just with News. Except, Piper at least comments on things not News related from time to time. I dunno if that's true for Ellen. Ellen has probably least dialogue of any modded companion that i've encountered. And every modded companion (except Heather) has nowhere near the complexity of the base game companions. And of all the base game companions, none have as much sheer numbers of thoughts as Hancock. And I find Hancock's thoughts, and overall character, to be the most interesting of all. (personal opinion) My favorite thing about the base game companions, is their thoughts/commentary based on whatever location you find yourself at. About the location itself, or the enemies there. And like i said, no other companion has as much commentary in these fields as Hancock. And unless i've not been paying attention, none of the modded companions have any dialogue that is enemy specific. It's a subtle thing, i know, but it really makes a huge difference. Makes the companion seem like it's actually alive, and present with you in that moment, and in that place. For instance, I can think of three different lines Hancock will only use when fighting Ferals. And many for when you're standing in an area populated by Ferals. And that goes for every enemy, not just Ferals because he's a ghoul. No modded companions do this. They all simply focus on the bare bones areas that you brought up. I don't blame them, don't get me wrong. To include all the dialogue like that would be a tremendous task. And it seems like most people are satisfied with the basic stuff. But, for me, they all just seem so shallow and bland. I don't enjoy taking them places. It's not fair to compare these modded companions to Hancock, I know. He sets the bar too high in every field. But, when I try my hand at making a companion mod, i'm damn sure gonna use Hancock as a baseline. -

Right now I have Heather paired with Audrey. Take seems to be a good balance in personalities. Heather and R4-04 spent some time together in Nuka World right after I was able to get Gage's perk. It is never a sad moment to wake up in bed with both Heather and R4-04. Yeah, Audrey comes in second place for me. She simply has the most interesting dialogue of the bunch. And the best looks. She just needs... more dialogue. So far, my least favorite modded companion is Ellen. Holy s***, she's just SO boring. Her story was mildly amusing, but she's got absolutely nothing going for her personality-wise. She's even worse than Piper, and that's bad. -

Woah there. I stil don't enjoy ANY companion, modded or basegame, as much as i like Hancock. But, Heather does ring in as a close Second. My favorite thing about Hancock, is his thoughts. No other companion comes close to the sheer number of dialogue thoughts Hancock has. And his dialogue is actually interesting. Not blisteringly goody-goody. And this is something Modded companions particularly fail at. That's Heather's biggest, only negative mark. However, R404 actually does the idle thoughts very well. She's 3rd in line on my slutbrigade. The way she comments based on decisions you make after quests is really something special. -
companions mods for fallout 4 being far to "good guy-ish"
LucidLady replied to cattalina420's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. Look at Hancock, he manages to be totally cool with you taking chems, pickpocketing, running nude, even eating the flesh your enemies. And he's perfectly reasonable. -

LucidLady replied to Fkemman11's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
This is real simple for me. I play the sex that i find more sexually attractive at the time. So, times male, sometimes female. Currently, i'm running a girl. I just got the game less than a month ago on PC, and there's just an ocean of sexy female mods as opposed to consoles. So i've been enjoying that. My girl has acquired quite the sizable Skank Squad by now, too. Female companion mods, i mean. So far, my favorite is Heather. Also, i love seeing my sex kick ass. So, maybe it's a bit of living vicariously through her that i enjoy. -
What is Your Weapon Loadout For FO4?
LucidLady replied to Fkemman11's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Boxing glove for max style points. Ripper for safety. Throatslicer for things that don't allow for style points, but also take too long for rippering. And since sometimes you simply need a gun, i go with whatever heavy weapon suits my fancy. Usually flamers.
