Skyrim hits 3GB mem usage almost immediately
scegielski replied to xmikeman's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Are you using ENBoost? If not, you should try that and see what the memory for both TESV.exe and enbhost.exe ends up at. -
No, not that I am aware of. They ended up call coming back. I'll try to isolate the cause and will update if I figure anything out. Thanks for the help!

According to my program Mod Explorer, these are my plugins that have PERK records: I don't see anything obvious in there but CWO has been problematic in other ways from the start.

Thanks for the reply. Aside from the initial creation though, I've never used racemenu on this character. Sounds like the same problem though. Maybe something else triggers it.

Use my Enhanced ENB Nighteye mod. -
A few days ago I started to notice my abilities would disappear for apparently no reason. I am playing an Altmer mage character which gives me the racial Highborn +50 magicka and this was just gone from the power menu. My magicka stat in the skills menu was also reduced by 50. This has also happened with my augmented destruction perks which give 20% resistances to fire, cold, and lightning. The strange thing is that they will sometimes come back on their own if I quit and reload and other times I have caught it and go back to a previous save. I couldn't find any console commands to add something like highborn back since it's an ability and not a spell. If anyone knows how to do that I would appreciate it. Thanks for any help.

Hi, For some reason, in my game, when I press the 9 or 0 key my character drops either a single or multiple gold respectively. There is a mod called Drop That Gold that does exactly what I describe, but I don't have that installed. Here's my LOOT sorted mod list if anyone has some idea which one it might be. I thought I would ask before I go through the trouble of figuring it out the hard way. Here's my mod list: The only way I know how to debug this for sure is to start disabling my mods binary search style until I find it. The other way I that I already tried was that I downloaded the aforementioned Drop That Gold mod. Then I found out how that mod does the key bindings, which I found was is in one of it's scripts. Then I searched for the same script keywords in my scripts source directory. No luck there unfortunately. Any other ideas? Thanks for any help!

Anyone know of a mod that makes vendors sell torches and more miscellaneous and crafting items in general? I tried adding the torch01 light to the MerchantRiverwoodTraderChest container in the Creation Kit, but it doesn't show up when I try to buy one at the Riverwood Trader in game. I read somewhere that since torches are light object in the game, as opposed to a weapon or misc item, that they don't show up. Any Creation Kit experts that can answer that question? Thanks

In response to post #15900280. #15907070, #15908730, #15919430 are all replies on the same post. The cost should be passed on to the users. If the site is so popular, maybe it should do away with the free memberships and increase the cost of premium memberships. Of course, people will expect something for that, but letting the quality suffer to such a degree could kill this site's reputation and then people may migrate elsewhere, possibly to Elsweyr.

The new endorsement reminder is such a great thing for us mod authors, so thanks again for adding it! On a similar note, is there something that can maybe be added in the future to make people more aware when mods are updated? Like something on the order of the latest files on the main page (maybe further down)?

New PC for heavily (I mean HEAVILY) modded Skyrim 2014
scegielski replied to eabbud's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You're probably doing something wrong. Haha, I don't think so. You see, ENBoost allows you to use more VRAM. Without it Skyrim holds a copy of all the textures in RAM as well as VRAM and you hit the 3.1GB memory cap. Enboost offloads that texture RAM into another process enbhost.exe effectively eliminating any RAM limits due to textures. Therefore the memory limitation for textures is only VRAM and it is fully possible to get close to using 6GB of texture memory. I have never reached 6GB, but monitoring the usage with Skyrim Performance Monitor shows it is usually over 3GB and it's been close to 5GB. -

"I don't suggest buying a TITAN if you're not playing at 2560x1440 resolution. You're never gonna use that 6GB Vram, never. You're not gonna even come close to it." I've got a Titan, and actually, you will use the 6GB of VRAM if using ENBoost and the memory patch. -
I finally got 1000 downloads, so I can comment, yay! I think this is a great idea. Most ENBs that I have seen either have their code in the global namespace or in the pixel shader. If that code were to be wrapped in functions in header files, as a standard, then it would be much easier to pick and choose amongst them and build combinations. Here's a relevant topic from the ENB forums: http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2298 If the code were structured in functions and headers, then maybe an exe program that can build the various ENB files from a a set of user selections. I think this would also make it so less ENB presets are released and the authors of the actual code get the credit. I am planning on writing an exe to try and merge my Enhanced Night Eye for ENB into an enbeffect.fx file. I have been doing it manually for people, but it should be easy to make it automated if the enb file to be merged into uses the standard variable names.

I tried it creating about a 6GB RAM disk with that software and I didn't notice a difference in load times at all. I could only put maybe 20% of my files on the disk though so that was probably the bottleneck. I've since moved everything to an SSD and even there I don't notice much of a difference in load times from my standard HD. At least nothing like the 5x speed-ups I've heard about. I'm maybe getting 25% more performance on the SSD. I'd be curious to see someone with 96+GB of RAM try it with their entire installation.

There's this: AI Overhaul - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50978 I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to do some of what is missing.

Skyrim crashes randomly, tried all recommended fixes.
scegielski replied to zoe23323's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Good call removing Footprints and Enhanced Blood. I'll bet that fixed it. Your 2794MB of RAM use is pretty close to the 3.1GB limit and I had the same crashing problems until I removed some mods like the aforementioned and brought my average memory use down below 2500MB. -
Models have a glowing border in front of shadows
scegielski replied to Yamie13's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Try setting: iBlurDeferredShadowMask=1 in SkyrimPrefs.ini The higher the setting, the more outline. A setting of 0 would be best, but that makes the ENB detailed shadows have a dithered look. -
Skyrim freezing for 2-3 seconds at random times.

If you are using a newer ENB, make sure to set the VideoMemorySizeMB (something like that) to something other than the default of zero in the enblocal.ini. -
Memory use increses as game progresses
scegielski replied to scegielski's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thanks for the reply. A. and B. and C are all good ideas. I don't think ENB is the cause and it add nothing to RAM as far as I know. Isn't ENBoost (part of ENB) supposed to be an attempted fix in response to the 3.1 GB RAM limit? It's hard to say for sure whether ENBoost works at all but, in my experience, it won't fix a game that would crash otherwise when the 3.1GB lmit is reached. Google "step investigates the 3.1 gigabyte ram limit". The problem is that the game mirrors VRAM texture data in RAM also. The point of my original post is that RAM usage grows over the course of playing a continuous character in the game and this also contributes towards the 3.1GB limit. It seems impossible to predict just how much the RAM usage will grow. So if you are already within 500MB of 3.1GB in certain locations when you start a new game then it is likely that you will reach limit at some point over the course of normal hours of gameplay. -
Annoying Aura/Glow around Characters and Objects.
scegielski replied to Lunyra's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The problem with the iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0 fix is that ENB detailed shadows have a dithered look. These screenshots are with: -Nvidia 320.49 drivers -Default Skyrim install (no mods) -New game -Ultra prefs -No anti aliasing -No anisotropic filtering -bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 (in SkyrimPrefs.ini for ENB) -iShadowMapResolution=4096 -COC to windhelm docks This is with iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0 and there is no white outline, but the shadows are dithered. http://i.imgur.com/x5OphQx.png This is with iBlurDeferredShadowMask=6. The shadows are smooth but the white outline is obvious. http://i.imgur.com/m8noef1.png Values in between give less or more white outline. I've been playing this game for many hours over the last year and I only recently in the last month or so noticed this. But with a default install it's still there so I dunno. Maybe drivers? Right now, the two screen shots above seem to be the only options. Can anyone else confirm this issue? Thanks -

What was your solution? Setting iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0? I am also having the same problem.
