  1. I am working on a quest and have several custom NPC's and a few vanilla Npc's I wanted to use. The quest is simple, it sends the NPC's to a Temple over the course of a week. More for color than anything. So my question is it better to just use regular attached Packages in the case of the custom NPC's or run the temple AI packages to override their normal packages. In the case of the Vanilla NPC's would this screw up their normal day to day acttions and any associated quests.
  2. you will have to combine the meshes, I think Ctl-J, there is also an option to merge the indivual texture files into one that preseves the UV lay out. then use that Tex file to make your normals etc in photoshop or gimp. if you want to keep them as two objects, then you will have to apply a material to each mesh with your albedo texture before exporting. its been a while since I've done this, so There is a lot I probably don't remember.
  3. I've been messing around with a mod to do exactly that. but there are lots of problems with it. Or someone with better modding skills than I have could probably get around it. Part of the problem is of course is creating the spells, attaching the music, and finding the right effects to the spell. Then comes the casting time, in the time it takes you to play a song you could be killed a couple of times, unless of course you lock down the NPC's as the song is playing but then that ruins immersion. I have toyed with the idea of using music to cast healing, wards, and illusions but then I would want custom effects and animations for most of it. Or design combat spells that cast a cloak around the PC that acts like a ward and a shield to block attacks till the spell ends and casts something like firestorm. All in all its a great idea, but I just can't get it to work and if I did it wouldn't look anything like I envision.
  4. hate bring back a necro, but did you ever find out what caused this. I'm having the exact same problem and can not find a solution.
  5. just a question but have you updated your video drivers lately, I was having CTD's almost constantly and ended up having to roll back my driver because of another issue and the vast majority's of my FO4 CTDs vanished.
  6. the tinkering I have done works (more or less) with non combat spells, because you get the full effect by being able to hear the song or music, I'm thinking that a single cord or Riff might work for combat spells. say a bard using a single note to cast a combat spell, while a diddy or partial song could be used for non combat spells. I'm still tinkering with it and hopefully it will work in the end.
  7. thank you for the idea, I will give it a try tomorrow night. just the other day was looking at some info on attaching sound files to .NIFS, I might give that a shot at some point just to see how it works out in game.
  8. I am looking for the best way to have an NPC use an idle while music plays. Set up a quest, radio? and use a fragment script to fire the idle use a dialogue quest, with the music as a conversation topic, attached to a package as a condition or script? or just a script that fires packages and the music at different markers. what I am looking to do is have a street husker, that moves from place to place in westside, playing music. thanks for any help
  9. I just went back to playing FNV and was having CTD's left right and center, and like you I tried ever fix, redownloaded anti stutter, NVAC , ettc to make sure it was all as current as possible. in the end, I rolled back the latest NVidia drivers and suddenly no more CTDs. might not work for you but its worth a shot. also try changing the busethread back to zero and the InumHWthreads to four. that stopped some of my crashes. I suspect that its something to do with having Win10 as an OS. any way no promises that any of that will work for you. Good luck.
  10. alot of my problems started with the last update.
  11. wait I think I just got what you're meaning, sorry. If I understand this right, you downloaded from nexus but the mods are not showing up. first question did you load the mods into the game with an organizer, or manually into the data folder. second question are you launching the game from which ever Organizer you have or directly through the game. third question Did you sort the load order using Loot. I know its basic stuff but you said your new to modding and games in general so its good to start with the basics. also JustnAZdog is correct, you do not have to play online if you do not want to. edit.. one other thing, I just thought about this... if your being asked to sign into your beth account when you start the game, I'm assuming your clicking on the MOD button. unless your downloading mods from BETH, you don't have to use that button. Just start the game using NMM or MO, click play offline when asked, assuming you want to play offline, then click play. just make sure that you have all the mod requirements, if any, some require NVSE, or associated mods to work. Let me know if my rambling response made sense or even helped LOL and have a Merry Christmas.
  12. Sorry been a little busy around here, I looked through my notes and apparently I didn't write anything down on the subject. make sure that you have markers and stuff set to be viewable in the CK, then in game run into one of the objects, note its location then go into the CK and check the same spot in your cell and see what is there that is not showing in game. .
  13. I had the same problem for a almost two months. I know it sounds stupid, but change your password. For some reason that worked for me, maybe it will work for you as well.
