  1. I am trying to install a collection for Starfield - Constellation by V2. I started by removing and re-installing Vortex, as I was several revisions behind. I did a COMPLETE removal, root warts and all. Nothing Vortex related remaining on my drives. I then recreated my download and staging folders, then removed and re-installed my old Starfield folder so as to have a guaranteed clean install. Last, I downloaded and installed the collection. I am now getting several errors from the collection that seem to be Vortex related, such as 'Deployment not possible' with the error message stating 'Deployment method "Hardlink Deployment" not available because: Can't write to output directory. I had issues in the past with Vortex not liking some of the permissions on my "Game" drive, so I did a complete security overhaul on the entire drive such that every user on that drive had full permissions to the entire drive except for the 'Special' category. After the errors, I rechecked the drive permissions, and they are still the same. I checked the download and staging folders, no change.
  2. Per title... I cannot find any staging folder settings at all. I would like separate staging folders, same as in download folder. My install is 'custom', as I am space limited on my OS drive.
  3. First, and foremost, Vorex DOES NOT uninstall itself using the Uninstall program. It leaves behind cruft in several places, most notably in Program Files and several folders in users\<user>\appdata... This leads to Vortex reading information when supposedly doing a clean install... Second, it does a V. poor job of registry cleanup. I found over 1000 registry entries, the overwhelming majority from previous attempts to use the program. I know that Windows is part of the problem here, but still. Finally, when starting from a 'fresh' install, Vortex can (and will) ignore user inputs for file locations. So, for instance, the user creates folders in the drive that contains his steam library. called (say) "CP2077 Vortex", "CP2077Vortex Downloads" and "CP2077Vortex Staging", tells Vortex to use them, and Vortex may well 'decide' to use the \user\<user>\appdata\<something> folder instead. IFF Vortex did not give me the ability to test out various setups in a shortish timeframe, it would be way more trouble than it is worth. (I STILL have not figured out the Load Order Rules engine...)
  4. I made a download folder, then decided to add a sub folder. Turns out that the sub folder is unnecessary. But now, how do I delete the sub folder? If I go into settings and try to change it there, Vortex tells me that I can't because it is not empty. If i go into the actual folder and delete the sub folder, THEN go into settings, Vortex STILL says the sub folder is there. If I completely remove the main folder, uninstall Vortex then re-install Vortex, IT ADDS THE MAIN FOLDER, COMPLETE WITH SUB FOLDER BACK ON MY DRIVE!!! It is like Vortex is a virus that has infected my machine with folders it wants, to be where it wants them to be. It should NOT be THIS HARD!!!
  5. Per topic - I would like to keep mods downloaded separated by game. Is the download folder a per-game option? Documentation doesn't say, but UI seems to suggest... So, for instance, if I have a vortexdownload folder, can I make a FO4 folder inside that? There is no setting in the profiler for this. Can I change the download folder settings on a per-game basis? And another q: Does Vortex have a discord channel?
  6. The search function seems to be a bit ... Off. As an example, (the only one that I have handy) if you are in the fallout 4 mods page and try to search for "full dialogue interface" (or any combination derived,, Such as 'Full' or 'dialogue' or 'interface' or 'dialogue interface',,) you won't find it. You will be given a list of suggestions, but not that mod. If you google "fallout 4 full dialogue interface" it shows you the page first hit.
  7. New interface 'bug'? In the 'search results' section, if I enter something in the 'file name' box it seems to become sticky. ie, I cannot remove it. Say I am looking for 'amidianborn', don't get results I am looking for. So I clear out 'amidianborn' from filename box and click on 'armour' in 'refine by category'. Apply filter, and now 'amidianborn' is back in filename, which defeats my purpose. Have not used this 'new' feature very much as old dogs take longer to learn your new tricks...
  8. That's two clicks. Mods => Mod Categories. Once you've got used to it's new home you should find it easier than before. Personally I had a hard time finding it in the 10-15 items that were in the old drop down. Well, mark it up to habits... Do the same thing for ~8 years...
  9. Is it possible to revert the UI changes back to the previous version? It takes quite a bit more rummaging around to do what used to take just two clicks... For instance browse mods by category. (one of the most useful tools to me)
  10. This is a strange scenario. The "Jessi Barbarous Beauty" mod was ported to SSE. The port works just as it did in LE, body changer and all. And there is the issue at hand...how do I change color without using the CK? I mean, I know that I can use SSEEdit but that does not apply the changes. You still have to use the CK to apply the change. In LE there was a way to use a tool (ECE??) to modify an NPC. And there was another tool that allowed the player to 'take over' an npc and play(or use showracemenu) as the NPC. Dunno how well these worked. You would think that something as simple as this would be ... simple. Before anyone asks why not just use the CK, try it and be confused like me. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10907
  11. When doing a mod search it would be nice to have some advanced characters to better formulate a search. for instance, say I want to search for male. I get all the other mods that have male in part of their name. Like FEmale... Or I want to find racemenu. I have to look through over a hundred presets. Usual conventions are things like "" to define exclusive, or MUST be included ! for don't include... That sort of thing. And an advanced search tab on the search line or a right-click set of advanced options on the search button to launch the advanced search options. Thank you.
  12. Just noticed that I can no longer use playerenchantobject 17696 109632 109632. All I get is a common hood with no fortify enchantments.... I am whinging about ver. 1.5.62 Never mind... It is a mod that is screwing up basic game mechanics.
  13. Over the past few days when doing a manual download from Skyrim Special Edition Mods, I sometimes get a "this file could not be saved because you don't have permissions" or something like that, often just after I have saved a file from the same mod in the same folder... My OS is win 10, 17763.316 and my browser is FF. Edit.- it is not necessarily related to folder depth. I just d/led to a folder 10 levels deep. Might be string length? Longish folder names, several layers deep? Dunno. if it were consistent it would be easier to find, but the issue is not going away. Edit2: Maximum string length for an acceptable place to download: C:\111111111111111111111111111111\2222222222222222222222222222222\333333333333333333333333333333\444444444444444444444444444444\555555555555555555555555555555\666666666666666666666666666666\7777777777777777777777777 all of the folder names are thirty characters, except for 7, which is 25. Some systems count the c:\ and the succeeding \'s... One character more and you get the warning. This was using skyrim mod 'the prosperous alchemist', and the Los Angeles node.. Edit 3: I believe that you have to add the mod's character length to get the total character length.
  14. Hatemiser, Picky, thanks for the setting. I was not aware it existed, and have now changed it.
  15. It is not difficult at all, and please leave God out of it. However, when someone 'ports' a mostly textures only mod, and then stuffs THAT up....
