  1. I haven't look at my phone while driving since 2008. That year a friend's daughter (who I knew from when she was born) was stopped to make a turn, a guy doing 70 mph and talking on the phone hit her from behind killing her instantly. She was 19. The driver was too busy talking on the phone to realize he where he was going, and speeding. I know there was some court case, but I don't ask about it, its painful enough to lose your daughter, even worse to know it could have been avoided. I always hear from people what's the difference between talking to the person on the phone and the person in the car. There is a huge difference, that person in the care can also see where you're going, the person on the phone cannot. We always think it can't happen to us. I've seen too many close calls to know the truth, it can and does. I was taught to drive defensively, which has helped me out many times. When I see a person switching lanes, tailgating, and such, I don't think wow, cool, I think what, an, idiot. Then my second thought is he/she probably complain about their gas mileage which could be increased if they learned how to drive better.

Color, I voted for Obama the first time (though if I had to do it over again I'd vote for someone else), and if you want to bring up leaving the country, when are the people who said they'd leave when Bush got voted in a second time going to leave? As for TRoaches, the only one who can say what he defends or not is TRoaches, not me.
  3. Color, didn't like it then either, but you replied just like I expected you to. The problem I have is Obama saying he will go over if Congress doesn't pass laws 'he' likes. We have a Constitution that I'd like our politician to use. It is for checks and balances. It was created that way for a reason. I actually view it as a combination of many things why our government doesn't get things done. 1. Stupid political ideas from the party line. 2. Bloated government that's so big they are making laws that counter previous laws making the system unworkable yet no one is willing to step up and remove these blunders. What is disturbing is we have been making the stage for a dictator for decades, and no one seems to care. Those who do warn are brushed off by those whose party is in power as nonsense. We are so blinded by the fact we should look out for the other guy we lose sight of what our own party is doing.
  4. Like how you once again try to flip it, like I care what their approval rating is. I see support overall for our government slipping because of boneheaded stands by both parties. Yes, I blame them all unlike many who don't question the party line.
  5. So let me get this straight, he is defending Huckabee because he supports the same ideas Huckabee stands for yet claims he wants to get rid of federal prohibiting laws? How is restricting a woman's reproductive rights not be a prohibiting law? Color, I said idea, not ideas. And yes, you can defend Huckabee for saying what he said, and not agree with it all. For example, I am for gay marriage, but it doesn't mean I agree with everything someone who supports gay marriage is for as well. We are complex people, and each side has many sides. Its not black and white like those in the media tend to tell us it is.
  6. You can support an idea and not be for either side. That's a problem of today, someone agrees with one idea of the left or right and you are automatically considered to agree with every idea for that group. Just because someone agrees with what Huckabee says, doesn't mean they agree with everything he says or Republicans say. We need to open our minds again that people are all different. Not every woman believes what the democrats say as well. I know women who are liberal and conservative, and some who agree with what Huckabee said and who don't. It's not a block format who all vote the same.

I've got a pen, and -- and I've got a phone," Barack Obama. I find it disturbing that while people are going ape $hit over what Huckabee said, they are quiet on this quote. I don't care if this was spoken by a democrat, republican, independent, left, right, center. It sounds like a dictator to me. Before you defend or attack it, imagine the opposite party saying this? Would you be comfortable with someone who is opposite what you believe saying, or doing this? This is a dangerous path. If Obama does this, what stops the next President from doing the same thing (and remember, the next President could be a republican)? Its a Pandora's box every should be screaming not to open.

  9. Personally, I think Huckabee spoke a truth democrats want to ignore. The truth is the left can be just as nasty towards women as the right.
  10. I have relatives in West Texas, where there are a lot of wind farms producing power, and there are groups are out in force saying its killing the birds, and not to use wind power. Seems like it doesn't matter what we try, there is a group saying its bad. And let's face it, some places are not feasible for solar power, like Alaska. Other places, like Denver, are good. My sister put solar panels on her house. A couple of years ago I read how the US Navy was going to experiment with a ship on using biofuels using algae or something like that. The article I read was all about how it was bad. If we found free energy I'm sure someone would protest it, and I'm not even talking about competitive groups.
  11. I don't know about it, but it could exist. Also science might be looking the wrong way to find it as well. We might have found it, only to have some 'scientist' say the theory doesn't apply to what 'we' know.
  12. Color, I know three people who own their own businesses, and Obamacare IS effecting them, tremendously. All three worked hard for several years with specialists to prepare for it. Even with all that hard work they still are not sure what's going to happen. When that happens, businesses freeze. They make plans years ahead, not months like our government seems to do these days. One of my friends, he wants to grow his business, had a business plan to grow his company from about 50 employees to 120-130 and expand to have more than one office location. Didn't happen, why, Obamacare and its massive amount of poorly structured laws, taxes and other crap. And he worked with people in the government to see how it would effect his business. The problem, as he stated, one day he'd be told one thing, put together a plan, then be told something else which would require a rework of the plan. He's spent tens of thousands on this which could have gone to hiring a new employee or growing his business. My other two friends survived the recession, but one isn't sure his business will survive Obamacare. We will reach a point where we can't just raise taxes anymore to cover costs. We demand companies to be financial responsible, isn't it time we do the same with government? As long as government refuses to reign in spending, it will never get under control, and both parties are blame.
  13. I don't find the argument that increasing government is the answer. It is true that to earn money, you must spend money. Every successful business does this, but government has no idea how to spend it wisely to earn money. (As for business and the economy, most are more concerned about what Obamacare is going to do with hidden taxes and such than unemployment benefits, and that is from talking to three of my friends who own businesses, not some website, or 'expert'.)
  14. Simply put, you are going to have to start taking in more than you spend. We are going to HAVE to cut spending AND raise taxes. But we are also going to have to make it so business want to be in the USA. If you have a strong business sector of the economy, it will add to your tax base. We also need to wean people off of government dependence. According to whitehouse.gov, the US going to be spending some $600 to $750 billion more than it takes in. And even by 2023 the government will STILL be spending more than it takes in. That has got to be stopped. Sadly no one wants to cut spending, and those who do are attacked by those in power. Heck, even reducing the increase in spending became a political battle with one side saying it was the end of the world. A big problem is the government is not held accountable for what it spends. It is a wasteful spender that cannot admit it made a mistake. It will throw more money at a problem hoping that will fix it, and if it doesn't, toss more money at it.
  15. I've defended the gay lifestyle, stuck up for them in debates, but this entire Phil thing is just stupid from all sides. Especially considering what comes out from Hollywood is much worse but the media rarely focuses on it. The fact they are focusing on Phil doesn't make me wonder if they do it because he's a 'redneck' and religious. (Personally, I've gotten to where I'd rather hang out with that 'redneck' than my liberal friends. Usually the redneck is smarter.)

  17. Its a joke, people make fun of others all the time. I don't understand the thinking of why its all right to make fun of one person, like Bush Jr, but not someone else. You can't pick and choose which one is okay and which one is not okay. Personally, Mandela was/is a public figure, it comes with the territory. If all this guy did was a joke online, then it shows how thin-skinned some people are, and a tragic loss for freedom of speech.
  18. I'm not sure what Obama's done other than say the 'right' things to his party. Sorry, but the more he talks the more I question my sanity when I voted for him the first time. As for Congress, I used to think like Color and blamed the GOP, until I looked up what Reid has done. He's more of a problem than any single republican right now, in my opinion. Back to the point, we seem to be electing on how much of a rock star someone can be. How much hype can the press give their star. I don't see any clear nominee right now. If you look at Obama, at this time in Bush's second term, he had been a Senator for almost a year now and little talk of him even running for President. This is why I currently say no one currently in the 'race' will be elected.
  19. I used to listen to him, then I realized he wasn't that good. Its sad that the press is already pressing who should run. I just wish we could elect a real leader for a change.
  20. Honestly, I don't see any of them making it as either the Democrat or Republican party nominations. Personally, I don't want any of them, just more of the normal stupid politicians, especially Clinton.

They want students to "explain their reasoning and explain how they came up with their answer." Never once was the video implying in any way shape or form of "giving credit" to students for incorrect answers but more so helping them to understand why they came up with the wrong answers to begin with... Color, if you read my original post, you'd see I said "and show how your got there". To me that still doesn't excuse the wrong answer. If you don't get the right answer, its wrong, doesn't matter if you 'knew' how to do it.
  24. That is the best description of SWTOR I've ever heard, it was a great and could have been even better as a single player game but they went the MMO path. I still would love a KOTOR 3.

I only know most of my friends who have kids, don't like Common Core and think it will actually harm education. I don't have kids, but I just remember the 4x3=11 cause it was so stupid.
