Just going to leave this here to remind everyone https://imgur.com/wW5j5yu That's just filthy.

Not to mention, Valve is actively deleting mods that have a link to a paypal donation. They are not only promoting a 25/75 split, but they are demoting the notion of donating what you feel the mod is worth. This is a filthy business practice. I've got images of deleted free mods containing a link to donate. Their reasoning is to collect the money you would have donated 100% to the author. How is that so difficult to see? Whereas before we would release content because we loved to share, now we must decide whether to be taken advantage of, or sell. No they aren't preventing us from releasing mods for free, but they certainly are promoting the opposite idea for the express purpose of lining their own filthy pockets with 75% of your creation's return.

Huge content mods like "Wet and Cold" will be a thing of the past if this continues. Not because Isoku wants to charge, but because authors like him will have no choice but to charge. A prominent author already put a price tag on content that wasn't his to sell, so unless we want to have our content stolen by charlatans we will eventually have no other choice but to put price tags on everything. This is a terrible day for modding. The community will not get better mods because of this... those mods would have been released for free/donation, but now we need to think about whether to release for free and risk being taken advantage of, or playing it safe and putting a price tag on it.
  5. In response to post #24581379. I've got quite a collection of images from this night. Keep em coming, reposts and sharing will keep this hypocrisy at the forefront of this awful decision.
  6. In response to post #24581189. I'm actually almost certain this has nothing to do with Bethesda. Steam is the distributor, Bethesda just developed the game. Their stance has always been to promote free content created by users. That's why they released the CK since Morrowind for free. I could be wrong, they might have dirty hands, but I think primarily we should have our crosshairs aimed at Valve/Steam. Of course, Bethesda's original stance on promoting free user content by giving us free tools might not hold in the future. But that's neither here nor there at this point.

There is no possible way to ensure mods are properly tested, or that a mod even works, and there's definitely no guarantee that the author will ever address "game-breaking" issues. What's to stop charlatans from promising content and then bailing? In theory I could release a mod that promises 1/4 of what I say, and Valve would host it without any sort of quality control and dupe everyone into shelling out $$$ for something that's broken, or even harmful. I wouldn't need future investments if I can make a description good enough. I could promise you the world and deliver a log of s#*!. Take a little money and run for the hills only to resurface with more content with promises I can't fulfill...

Thanks Wight! No, I'm more interested in creating other things. I've got a c# app that's due for Fallout 4. It will be free and has taken a lot of hours to code. I'll never charge, even if it's a big app like what I'm talking about. I don't even have a donate button. I believe in giving back to a community that has been a special part of my gaming life since Morrowind. It's the circle of life :) I just updated the object remover mod today though (removing thickets because...). It will continue getting small updates removing anything I find that's worthless while I play.

Someone had a thread with pictures of all the users banned for speaking up in threads. I could almost laugh, but this is serious. Censoring negative views. Freedom of speech? Only if your thread is positive and your speech skill > 99 Thank god the Nexus allows us to speak freely about this issue without fear of being banned for simply saying "this sucks".

To add more controversy, the post has been deleted by mods now... I still have the picture saved though. Ban users with legit claims backed by evidence and then delete all threads exposing it. Why Valve why?

It seems, at least on the surface, that Valve doesn't want the negative press from being caught letting users upload and profit off of other's free content. It's sad they would ban a user with a legit claim... This reeks of manipulation by Valve.

  16. This is very bad news indeed. Thieves will steal free mods and charge forcing the real content creators to adopt this new pay method lest they be taken advantage of. The real ramifications of this won't be felt for a short while, but I believe it will negatively effect all of us. Mods like "Wet and Cold" which add loads of original content may someday be a thing of the past here on the nexus. I hope I'm wrong about everything. Of course, it's up to the users at the end of the day. We have the biggest influence on companies like Steam. Remember the Diablo 3 paid auction house? That lasted a little over a year before being removed because users shunned the idea so much. The future is in our hands, and that's a very scary thought.
  17. I'm expecting a Fallout 4 announcement!
  18. I'm getting great speed but suffer a lot of disconnects. I do like the switch though. One less button to click.
  19. It really is a pity. Her mods were some of the best on here in my opinion. A real shame she took them down. Do you have any idea why she left, if you don't mind me asking? The red stuff, hehe. I'm curious too, but I don't think we are going to get an answer. I wish her the best in whatever endeavors follow. At least weijiesen is still with us ^_~!
  20. What a shame. Destruction Overhaul will never leave my load order.
  21. This is an old "fix" back in the fallout 3 days but it should work for new vegas too. Try http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/4710/? This won't fix your problem at all, but it's quick and mostly painless heh...
  22. Does anyone know of any situation that would make Ed-E not offer reloading services? For whatever reason I can't get the dialog option for Ed-E to become a reloading bench. I have tried dismissing and reacquiring but that didn't help. I have no mods that alter Ed-E but a simple sound replacer and before anyone asks, yes I have all the DLC and yes I have viewed his records in FNVEdit and everything checks out... so what's my problem? Is there some strange glitch I'm not aware of? In all my years of playing this has never happened until now.
  23. Oh yeah, there's no problem with my load order. I almost always manually place plugins then check fo3edit to see if it needs patching. I was just curious about the LOOT results. So far it seems to be getting a lot of praise in the Skyrim community so I figured I would test it out on my FO3 data dir. It seems to just jumble my FO3 load order though. Nothing makes any sense, the plugins are everywhere. It's like I accidentally hit the "Randomize Load Order" button (doesn't exist). Considering FO3 only has a few mods released per week now. Based on your responses I'll just leave LOOT alone and use my own judgement. Thanks guys.
  24. So I've been slowly easing my games into using LOOT over BOSS. I normally set my own load order in my games but every once in a while I have to bring out the big guns to help out. In FO3 it seems the BOSS and LOOT load order is vastly different. Honestly, looking at both lists, it seems the BOSS order is closer to what I would have set manually. However, I understand LOOT uses a much different method to sort the list. Considering FO3 is so old, should I trust LOOT with it? It's doing certain things like placing the Blackened patch for MMM/FWE/PR/EVE above the FWE dlc... and I can't see why that would make sense. Looking in fo3edit I realize a lot of changes are being reverted. I just want to know other's experience with FO3 + LOOT. Good? Bad? Don't care?
