Quick updates to the site, money money money edition
Fergel replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I think the answer here is for people to let their wallet/purse do the talking it CAN have an effect if enough people are prepared to boycott paid mods. I've just donated to three of my favourite authors here on the nexus, two of which only accept membership donations. I've done this because they have provided me with excellent quality mods for free and I wanted to say thank you. They weren't big donations, only a few pounds each, but if everyone did this from time to time then the authors would likely feel more inclined to keep modding. It isn't about money for most people, It's about the joy of modding but a little appreciation goes a long way. In my humble opinion this is the best approach. -
I've played around some more with the settings and haven't managed to determine any single feature/setting that causes this issue (so far). Does everyone experiencing this problem have a radeon card? They don't play well with enbs, It's the only thing I can think of.
-
Good to Know I wasn't the only one having this issue and glad I could help. I've used other, less intensive enbs in the past and didn't have this issue. Due to this I'm guessing there must be a specific setting/feature that causes this problem. I'll keep playing around and if I find out what's causing it I'll post here  (assuming it's not just another problem caused by a patch again)

Further investigation on my part has revealed that its to do the the enb I am using. Having removed all enb files from my skyrim directory, the previews are now showing up. I'm using the wilds enb which is fairly popular and haven't heard of anyone else having this problem but I have tweaked the settings a bit, does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue?

hello all I started having a problem with the CK recently where the actor preview will no long show when editing a npc or race. This is somewhat annoying as i like to customise my companions and save the changes in one esp file and I prefer the CK to the npc editor. I'm pretty sure it started happening after a recent Ck update and I haven't changed any settings. I've tried uninstalling and downloading again as well as removing the configuration settings file etc and loading the skyrim master file only with no mods (face textures etc) and still no luck. Am I missing something obvious? Any help will be appreciated  http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/Lozzielocks/random/Capture-1.jpg

Hello all, I went to create a new morph file in the toolset only to discover that the toolbar is gone, by that i mean the ribbon with the quick save option the undo and redo buttons etc. The toolbar where you select a base head (race) isn't there either nor does it launch when you hit create new head morph, as such theres no way to select a base head for the morph. I havent played the game or used the toolset in a long time so I have no idea how or when the toolbar vanished. http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/Lozzielocks/problem/Capture2.jpg what should be there http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/Lozzielocks/problem/missing.jpg I cant figure out how to get the toolbar back, I've searched but cant find anything about it on the toolset wiki or anywhere else for that matter. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, it still isnt there. Im baffled. Am I missing something painfully obvious? Any help will be appreciated.

I believe your bashed patch should always go the end of your load order, but you have a lot of mods to say the game really hasn't been out all that long. Some of the mods may be conflicting. Try disabling your bashed esp first and see if your game loads, if it does something may have gone wrong when you created that. If not what was the last mod you installed? try disabling the most recent mods you installed. You've got 2 water mods on there....do they do the same thing? 4e RealWater.esp and 32 RealisticWaterTextures.esp. Try disabling a few at a time and see if your game loads, then you can isolate if a mod is causing it. Edit: also are you sure these aren't conflicting? 0B Realistic Lighting - Full.esp 5B Darker Nights and Bright Skies.esp

I've tested it for a few npcs, and yes it worked for me. Edit: Ive found that some npcs (E.g Elisif the fair) still wont register in game unless you create an esp file as well as exporting the face with the above method. I guess its quite buggy at the minute.

Found this on the bethesda forums, I don't know if it will help you but it seems relevant. JoelBurgess Posted Today, 05:12 AM Bethesda Game Studios Here's a technique that helps when modifying an NPC from the base game. Locate some pre-existing NPC. I chose Hadvar. Edit the Actor > Character Gen Parts tab. I decided to make a drastic lip color change Click MaleHeadNord_Lips.dds in the left-sice "Face Tint Layers" list Click "Select Color" - choose something extreme, like a neon green Slide "Interpolation Value" all the way to the right (1.0) Click OK In the Object Window, find the base Actor you've just edited. With the Actor(s) selected, press ctrl+F4. Click "Yes" when prompted to export. This will create a DDS and a TGA in ...\Syrim\data\Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm Note: The TGA is not really neccessary, as the DDS should be uncompressed. With these textures in place, run the game and test your NPC. Note that the plugin changes need not be saved. Edit: apparently this only works for existing npcs not newly created ones, i think its acts kinda like textures packs overriding.

yeah i only said skyrim as that is what ill be playing the most and I'll be heavily modding it with graphics mods. Thanks aagin for the help i have a much better idea of what i want now. Its just a matter of finding good deals now. :)

Thanks very much everyone for your input, its been very helpful. At the moment i'm leaning towards the GTX 570 as im not plainning a sli setup and there's quite a difference in price between the 570 and 580. Is the 570 a big step up from the radeon 5770? Do you think the 570 would handle something like Skyrim on ultra high running in 1080p? (maybe with high res texture mods too) Also i think i would need to update the power supply what wattage would people recommend? I was thinking 900, comfortably enough? Thanks again for advice so far :)

Hello all! Im currently using a radeon 5770 and while its a great card for the price i think i have pushed it as far as it will go. Ati seem to take forever to update drivers etc so i was thinking about switching to Nvidia and would like some advice. Trying to decide between GTX 560, 570 or maybe even the 580 if i can find for a good price. At the same time i'm looking at a new 1080p monitor as i'm currently only on 1440x900. Comp specs are; Operating system: Windows 7 64 bit Case: COOLERMASTER ELITE 310 BLUE CASE Processor: Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-950 (3.06GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache Motherboard: ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI Memory: 6GB KINGSTON HYPER-X TRI-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (3 x 2GB KIT) Hard Disk: 1TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD10EARS, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE Processor Cooling: INTEL SOCKET LGA1366 STANDARD CPU COOLER Power Supply: 600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan Upgrading ram necessary? Any advice will be thoroughly appreciated.
