  1. Since vortex is created by nexus and it uses its website i was wondering few things: 1. How much information is nexus tracking about vortex users? 2. I see nexus knows last time i downloaded something from nexus. Is vortex reporting to nexus manually installed mods too? 3. What happens to vortex if nexus account is banned? Does it become locked or still fully functional mod manager?
  2. @Tannin How exactly are you tracking how many people were using NMM and MO? Considering the fact that not all mods are available only on nexus i don't see how you can have real comparison on user base. Measuring success on user base even if the data you have is real - is bad idea. Most of the users had NMM thrown in their face at the main nexus page. They never discovered alternatives. Doesn't mean NMM is more successful. Many users are computer noobs that just wanted the mod installed in one click without thinking what could go wrong and things did go wrong when they used NMM. MO was always the choice of those who want to mod the hell out of their game and have everything safe and easy to troubleshoot. Ease of mod installation NMM was more successfull (many noobs that liked this) but doesn't come even close to MO when it comes to modding possiblities and that's what mod manager should do. I know you will find some smart way to respond to this to try to prove me wrong (coz nexus pays and you need to do things they want) but you can't disprove this fact - considering how many software developers there are, you got your job for one reason - Your software (MO) was way better then NMM. And it is again way better in form of Vortex then that "brake the game mod manager" called for short NMM. That is what i call success. Also on many topics OP was correct - Vortex can be visually improved.
  3. I already mentioned this to them long time ago but nothing was done about it. You can double click on mod name then go all the way down on right pane that popps up and there you have a link to mod site. This whole approach is terrible. There should be lot faster and easier way to do it.
  4. This is not a bug. Its simply bad user experience. In short: Upgrading mods in vortex is a pain. Vortex got quick link next to mod version number to mod page where you can download new version of a mod which is great but: 1. You cannot tell vortex to stop checking for specific mod updates. You can change mod version number to latest one, but Vortex will still tell you that mod has an update. 2. When you want to update and you download new version of a mod vortex will most often not recognize that you already have older version that you want to replace most of the times. Instead your new mod version is installed as a new mod that is conflicting with older version of the same mod. So instead of simply replacing old mod you first have to uninstall old mod and then again set up all the rules for conflicts. Thats a pain to do every time. 3. Vortex is sometimes recognizing old version of the mod and is by the default keeping it active even though you already downloaded new version to replace old one. It would be lot better to ask a user if they want to keep the old version of a mod. Current setup is a pain as well coz instead of simply upgrading (replacing old mod with new mod) you first have to remove old mod and install new one and again set up all the rules for conflicts. Please improve this.
  5.  I never used MO and I agree that NMM is very simple to use, straight to the point, precise and easy to use. I do agree also that Vortex is not than simple but I guess we would have to stick to it and learn it.  I never minded to switch from NMM to Vortex; we have to be able to move on and adapt to changes but I do not like the fact that there is no documentation provided to us so we can learn it faster. Instead of asking questions in this forums ( I really do not mind to do that but answers do not come that fast and sometimes not in details as I would like to but I thanks those who have helped me to understand Vortex better ) we should have more information and that will be very helpful to all of us.   You are expecting full documentation for a software in alpha state. It will have its documentation when its released. Also learning by doing is not that hard thing to do. You know how to read that should be enough to install a mod.   Have I said it is hard to learn by doing ? No. Have I said that I do not read forums and mod descriptions and posts to install my mods ? No. Have I said that I have not try Vortex doing trial and error to learn how it does work ? No.  And yes for the documentation regarding Vortex, yes, we need information regardless, otherwise, Nexus would not have asked Gopher to do his video tutorials till Vortex was out of Alpha state and Tannin would not have included some information that pop-up when you click on the " I " buttons and we would not have dozens of users asking questions in this forum trying to find out how this and that works, don't you think so ?  Perhaps you know how to use 100% so you should share your knowledge instead trying to come up with some assumptions like "know how to read before installing a mod" ... that was very disrespectful and I am not here to be put up to false assumptions and rudeness from anybody, so keep your words for yourself please. The answer to all your irrelevant questions is - yes. Not directly but instead indirectly by asking for documentation. Also you completely missed my point. Reading part has nothing to do with reading forums and mod description but instead reading everything inside Vortex itself and using simple logic to figure out how things work. Its nice and funny how you find yourself offended but i didnt offend you. :)

  7. The problem with the ads is on your end. You have an option to not see them anymore. True. Its called Adblock. You seem quite proud to freeload off of Nexus' servers. Maybe they should make downloads premium only. Last time i checked it was a free service. Maybe they should make downloads premium only. Would be interesting to see members and visitors count if that happens. Funny how i start helping with finding program bugs and issues as a non-premuium or "non-supporter" and i get told by "supporters" that i should give my hard earned money to one site on the internet so that i don't see ads in a program im helping to fix. Not to mention i already said i dont mind ads but the amount of ads. But why bother reading when you can pretend to be higher.
  8. The problem with the ads is on your end. You have an option to not see them anymore. True. Its called Adblock. :)
  9. In Vortex, the three dot button next to user profile icon in upper right corner. Send feedback. BTW: Nexus pays for traffic that Vortex generates. True. On the other hand nexus pays for traffic that manual download generates too so whats your point?
  10. Download 0.13.3 and install it over previous one.
  11. Thats so sweet. The todo dashlet is named "Let's get you set up" on the dashboard. When you close all the items in that widget it will disappear, no matter what you do in settings. If you leave it enabled it may reappear in the future though when we add a feature to the widget or if a todo item had a condition that was not previously met. I'll look into it, this worked during testing. Is it possible it was just the display being wrong? Have you verified the file on disc also has the wrong size? Because Nexus requires money to operate. Wait, you're using the argument "Nexus gives us an unrestricted free open-source application" against us? So you're saying if we restrict functionality for non-premium users it's ok to advertise?? Yes, the dashboard tries to optimize vertical space, this is intentional This is something for our UI designer. If you report it through feedback I will forward it to her. That argument boils down to: "Someone gave me something for free so now I expect everything from everyone to be free". A lot of open source projects have ads or actively ask for donations, more or less aggressively. A lot of open source projects have other sources of revenue. A lot of open source projects get abandoned because the dev would rather do something that pays the bills. Like, you know, me. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. 1. My bad on this one. I was expecting newly enabled dashlet to show up after all existing ones. Instead to do list shows up as first one. 2. File size on disc is 206.375 Kb and this is what i get if i drag and drop it into vortex downloads: When i clicked on install it changed to 201,5 Mb so i guess it is display error. 3. Nexus needs money to operate but is not earning any money by this ads. I can click it and close it afterwards and not become premium member. Result is i got nothing nexus got nothing but ad is there. Also im saying its ok to advertise but does it have to be in every single tab? Why do you need dashlet ad that is just annoying users coz it gets in the way all the time while you try to organize your dashlets the way you want? Having "become a premium member for higher download speed" on downloads tab makes sense. Other ads not so much because they don't provide any benefit. 4. If this was intentional with dashlets then i guess its not a bug. 5. Im confused with all the feedback routes. Forum feedback, feedback from inside vortex, feedback on github... Whats the proper place for feedback to be considered as feedback? "That argument boils down to: "Someone gave me something for free so now I expect everything from everyone to be free". A lot of open source projects have ads or actively ask for donations, more or less aggressively. A lot of open source projects have other sources of revenue. A lot of open source projects get abandoned because the dev would rather do something that pays the bills. Like, you know, me. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." I already explained my point on ads (its green). I thought nexus is paying you for your work. If not ill click few ads just for you <3 .
  12. Complaining about ads on free stuff always baffled me. Software is like money, it doesn't grow on trees. You say that because you have seen ads in NMM, MO or some other free mod manager? Or maybe because you see ads in other open source software? Or maybe because you adore ads in that case Tannin please make special ad version of Vortex just for b3snik. Make an add on every tab and make him watch video ads every time he clicks on any button. Or maybe you just attempted to be higher and smarter but failed? Talking about something you are not experiencing as a premium member should buffle you more.
  13. I found few things while testing Vortex to its limits that do not work properly: 1. In settings menu there is "to do" dashlet that does nothing really. Its not nothing - its empty invisible box on dashboard. 2. When you drag and drop a file inside vortex it is added to the list but has size of 0 b when it shows up in downloads. To bypass this i had to paste the file directly into Vortex/SSE/downloads and then it showed properly inside vortex 3. Why is vortex full of Premium membership ads? One is at the top of the window, one is at the dashboard, one is above download progress in downloads tab. Its screaming "gimme the money!" in every non premium users face. Isnt one of them that is always visible (top of the window) enough? Not to mention by paying you dont get any benefit from the program itself. Those ads belong to the site and not a program itself (at least not in that amount). 4. Dashlets do not stay where you want them to stay every time. Sometimes i wanted to put one at the right side but it jumps up if up is unocupied. 5. "Visit on Nexus" mod option is to hidden to be of practical use. When you double click a mod on the mod list it shows nexus informations if available on the right but you then have to scrool all the way down to get to mods nexus page. Annoying when you just want to update the mod or simply visit its page. Other than that it works pretty much same as Mod Organizer and thats great. It installed everything i threw at it and it works. All 3rd party programs that i tried to run with Vortex did their job properly.
