  1. I reordered the nodes, but I still get an exclamation. Could you examine the node list here and tell me if anything looks out of place?
  2. Sorry, could you be a little more specific? I'm still new to modifying meshes; do I check the datablocks in blender or nifskope? Also, the two meshes were combined in nifskope, not blender. I just used blender to remove the unwanted parts from the original meshes. The 10 nifstrips were part of an old mesh; I'm now working on a new mesh, a coat+tuxedo, not the boots. EDIT: I accidentally submitted the previous post without realizing that the screenshot was marked as too big; I resized and resubmitted.
  3. Thanks so much for the help so far, but now I've run into another problem. So I've been using your instructions for another set of meshes, actually. It's been going smooth, and I got the combined mesh into nifskope and fully retextured, but then I put into the Geck, and it gives me the giant red exclamation mark that every modder fears and dreads. Was there I step I missed somewhere? Attached are screenshots from nifskope and geck.
  4. Alright, when I press CTRL+L, is it possible to add more to that selection, or do I have to press Seperate Selected for every bath of vertices I select? Exporting the nif into nifskope later, revealed that my pair of boots had up to 10 seperate nodes, when they should only be 1 node. That was because I could only select and seperate about 10 different parts of the boots, as opposed to the entire thing at once. Is there a button I should be holding or something as I select vertices?
  5. I'm working on a lot of gothic mods. There are a few that can be found on my mod here Mask and Gown Collection, plus more mods on the way, including Gothic Ultra-Luxe, and other clothing mods. You could try these mods as well. Sinblood's Venomous Armor Dark Skull Pipboy Tailor Maid
  6. Like the title says, I need to take the boots off of one armor, and place them onto another armor. It wouldn't be so hard except that the boots are in the same block as the rest of the armor. Some meshes in nifskope have the armor pieces seperated in different blocks, which easier :/ So, how does one go about separating the boots? Do I have to go back into Blender to do this, or can it be done in nifskope?
  7. Okay, this is what I did; I added a mask layer to the normal map, painted in the white, black, and grey areas, and then applied it to the channels. Unfortunately, it is shared across the RGB channels rather than the alpha, but in-game, it has the same effect an alpha would, which is fantastic. The end-result is what I wanted. Thanks for your help!
  8. Thanks for the reply, but I suppose I should have mentioned I used GIMP to do my textures. Attached is an image of what my alpha layer looks like; empty. How do I paste the greyscale image of my texture into it?
  9. Nevermind, I found the fix on my own, here on this link http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/284294-geck-rendering-fix/ for those who are interested.
  10. So I'm still new to texturing in Fallout. How can I make a normally non-reflective object have a glossy sheen that reflects the light, such as the way wine-bottles catch light? Do I need to make a certain map texture, or can it be done in nifskope without an additional map?
  11. For some reason, in the GECK, cells are not loading completely. It appears that all the references are loaded, but not visually present. The image attached is an example, the Ultra-Luxe Casino. Almost everything is missing. Panning the camera and changing the light settings don't work, neither does re-opening the GECK, as this cell has always appeared this way. Many other cells appear like this. Exterior cells seem to load fine, as do custom cells. Is there a way to fix this? As you can imagine, it's very frustrating!
  12. I finished it! Here you go! http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39283
  13. So I converted a bonesaw into a melee weapon by copying it over a cleaver model, but in game, it shows up as a cleaver in first or third person. Dropping it, it will appear as a bonesaw again. How do I make the 1st person mesh that of the bonesaw, not the cleaver?
  14. I need to flip this bonesaw vertically, and fit it inside the yellow box, but I'm not sure how to do that. Can I do this here, or do I have to go back to Blender? NOTE: this is a standard bonesaw used in place of a cleaver mesh, so that it can be made into a weapon.
  15. Thanks, I already had it installed and realized I could do it a minute after I asked the question. Thanks anyway!
  16. Is it possible to export an .nif already used in the GECK, or am I going to have to open up the .bsa and find it there? If so, how do I open the .bsa and take files? I imagine it works similar to a .zip file?
  17. Hold that thought...maybe I could look into this tonight and see what can be done. Perhaps it will be my first project with Nifskope, since I meant to do something similar.
  18. I would like to see this mod made too. I have my limited knowledge of scripting, at least from the Morrowind days, so I'm not sure what the Fallout engine is capable of, but I imagine that a running train would require moving scripts that make it move along a linear path at a certain speed and distance until it has reached a certain set of coordinates. Then the script would direct it to change course, such as, at a turn. I doubt that the train would actually be using the tracks, per se, but rather, moving along a designated path that happens to be occupied by the tracks. I can see this going wrong where the script ignores direction changes, so the train might just hover "off" the track and fly along the air, or some crazy thing. Other than that, it just needs some sound effects, and some way to allow the PC to use it (if you like, or if it's just for looks) and that's it. I find it sad that the NCR supposedly use the monorail to and from the strip, but you never actually see it physically moving around.
  19. This is actually a good idea! Especially with the zombies? Perhaps one could perform a quest in which they should clear the mall of all zombies, to make way for a group of people looking to utilize it. Then, returning later, the mall is cleaned up and in use. Think of what happens to Tenpenny Tower when the zombies move in, but reversed. Rags to Riches.

  21. I don't know how Vegas could be Vegas without a belly dance troupe, or at least, have outfits for such a troupe. I would make this myself but I'm unfamiliar with how to make nifs....so, here's what a good belly dance store would contain: -Egyptian/Cabaret style dress -Turkish style dress -Saidi style dress -Tribal style dress Cabaret: -Usually one color or like colors -tight-fitted skirt -embroidered beading, but few dangling beads -long scarf optional, but headband recommended Examples: http://www.bellydanceintensive.com/img_gallery//Salome_sm.jpghttp://www.roxalot.us/amara/amara_1.jpghttp://www.orientaldivas.ch/images/divasaufreisen/woo2009/orientaldivas_jillina_g.jpg Turkish: -Similar to Cabaret in style, with a few exceptions -Belt is usually seperate from the skirt, and belt and bra have lots of sequins; dangling beads -Skirt is typically flows more, made of chiffon -Colors are usually dual and contrast each other well Examples: http://www.dancingrahana.com/images/products/detail/costume270iso.jpg http://www.bellydance.org/articles/articles_images/Ansuya_BD.jpghttp://www.lareinagoddesswear.com/store/images/uploads/costume-queen-diamond-1(1).jpg Saidi: -More traditional than the showy Cabaret or Turkish -Wears a robe or dress, with a bra, alone, or with a hipscarf -Usually an accessory is used such as a stick, cane, or sword -Sometimes a turban or egyptian beaded coif is worn -Colors can be bright or settle, and patterns can be elaborate or traditional. 22. Can someone direct me to an informative page on how to create clothing, items, and other .nif's and their corresponding textures, and how to apply them to the game? And if you have any tips or suggestions as well, please let me know, thanks.
  23. I am trying to download files from the newvegasnexus.com, but clicking on the file link leads to a pop-up window that eventually reads "Safari can;'t open this page.". This appears to be happening at random, because some files can be accessed and others can't. It happens both in my Safari and IE browsers. Also, I have been able to DL things normally in the past, all this week until tonight.
