  1. Oh boy. First very large snowfall in about 2 years for this area. They are talking anywhere from 6-12 inches (20-30cm I think?) in my area. Windy as heck too (25-30mph 40mph gusts), so they are considering this a blizzard. It's 2:30am at the moment and 3 inches have already fallen. The winds just started to pick up...

They cancelled all the schools and social events yesterday before the storm even started. The governor even declared a state of emergency. Guess everyone wanted to be prepped for this. All the cities in my area declared snow emergencies. Pretty shocked, my stupid city waits until the last second to do anything...

If anyone else is stuck in this storm like me..stay safe, please don't travel, and stay warm. It's gonna be ugly today...

  2. I got a Wacom Bamboo Capture tablet a few days ago. My boyfriend's mom got it for me for Christmas, but she gave it to me a week early :D

I haven't picked up a physical pencil and paper in many years. I kind of gave up on it to try out other crafts (sewing, crochet, needlepoint). I saw this tablet a few months ago and I thought it would be cool to learn digital drawing. It's pretty nice, this tablet feels like you are drawing on a piece of paper.

Be kind, it's my first attempt lol...very basic:

I've only had it since Sunday. At least it's not much of a learning curve :P I'll be posting more (hopefully better) pics in the coming weeks.

I'd also like to try out brushing up some textures in Skyrim..but I have no clue how to open .dds files in PSE 8 or GIMP. Does anyone know? I remember the older version of GIMP, you could just open the files. I'd more like to know how with PSE 8 as it recognizes the pressure sensitivity of the pen.

    Thanks for looking :D

edit: Just finished this up, starting to get the hang of it...gotta touch it up a bit but I'm still learning how to use PSE:

I was never really good with colouring even on physical paper, always was good at B&W...but I thought this came out alright ;)

  3. I also heard a lot of people are getting sick while watching it. The non 3D version is fine. Also heard that the 48FPS sometimes makes the whole movie look "fake". I haven't seen a movie in 3D since the early 90s, you had to wear these weird helmets in the theater.

Kinda want to see this, but I don't like the idea of it being 3 movies. I've read the book many times and the cartoon from the mid 70s seemed to get a good amount of the book in 2 hours (watch it if you haven't seen it, it's awesome). I'll just wait for the DVDs :P

  4. i Dislike it, should of been cancelled back when i was in High school, and I'm 30 years of age.

    Stop expanding it.

I don't dislike Pokemon, but I agree with you, they need to quit. Sheesh, I remember collecting the cards, stickers, and other stuff back in the late 90s...oh god I feel old now :P

It was fine with the 150 original Pokemon, how many are they up to now? Like 400?

It'd be nice to see it based of the mangas as well if they do decide to keep on going with it.

  5. Skyrim should run pretty fine on your computer...hmm. Getting the quad core would help performance a little bit though.

Wait, 32 bit Windows? Are you sure on that? If so, only 3GB of that 4GB RAM will be used.

Your card is similar to mine, a little slower on the core clock though. I can play the game on Ultra with 4xAA, 16xAF, and the official texture pack...great framerates all around. I have a 4.0GHz quad core though...but any dual or quad over 3GHz should be able to run the game smoothly.

What other mods are you using? What patch are you using? Skyrim is still notorious for CTDs. I'd get the latest patch and the latest UOP to see if anything changes.

Do you have to do this with other games or is it Skyrim specifically?

  6. Oh ya, absinthe is a good party piece. Good stuff, hate the taste though :P I thought it was illegal in the US still..dunno if that's changed or the absinthe they do sell here doesn't have the wormwood leaves in it..hmmm

No Crown Royal? How could you? :P It's so expensive but it's so good. It's about the only hard liquor I can drink without getting insanely sick. I wouldn't touch anything on your liquor list there haha.

I'd get some Mickey's and St. Pauli Girls for the beer list. Mickey's is malt liquor but it doesn't taste like Colt 45 and all that other cheap crap. It actually tastes like beer :P It's cheap too..cheaper than Budweiser I think. Get some Leinenkugel's too if you can find it. They make a lot of seasonal beers, most of them are pretty good..better than Sam Adams I think.

Quite the stock there though haha. Our friend has a bar down in his basement. Doesn't have much in the range of liquor, but he always has the fridge stocked with good beer :D

  7. The whole family lives around here. So, we all get together at one of their houses. My boyfriend's uncle normally makes standing rib roast, double stuff potatoes, veggies, and salad. We eat that and then we open presents :P

Nothing very fancy, but it's still fun. We watch football, have a few beers, talk, and laugh :)

  8. Sorry for the double post but I'd thought I'd put this up in case anybody didn't get the e-mail from Humble Bundle.

If you bought the bundle, they are also giving you Titan Quest and Warhammer 40,000:Dawn of War GOTY :D Titan Quest was pretty fun, but my boyfriend, friend, and I broke that game so bad, too much D2 :P

Warhammer looks pretty sweet though :) Might give it a try sooner or later, I got a ton of games to try out.

  9. Yeah, but you can't use that on battle.net. On Open battle.net yeah, but not on any of the servers. If there is a way, you will most likely be banned.

Dual frenzy barb hehe...awesome. My build was EBOTDZ, Arreats Face, Engima, Stormshield, Vamps, Travs, Arach, and SoJs. Warcry sticks on the off hand weapon slots. Warcry charms if I could find them. (lol sorry for the short speak, I don't remember what the full names are anymore :P)

My friend had a build exactly like that but his whole inventory was filled with warcry grand charms. Perfect Breath of the Dying, perfect Archon Plate Engima...6k life, never got hit. He could stand there and do Diablo clone without getting hurt. Craziest barb I've ever seen him make.

Ubers require a smiter with life tap and a barb (normally just used to do BOs and Howl away the other enemies). Done in under 10 minutes :P

But yeah, once you've played it as long as us ( me 6 years, bf 10, friend 12), you know what's good right away. It's not so fun anymore when you can be godly in a matter of weeks. It also helps if you know how to trade well.

Have fun though, that game had me hooked forever :P

  10. Used to watch a ton of it when I was younger. Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star...stuff like that. My favorite of all time is the Gundam series. I've seen every one to date, except for Gundam AGE, there's no dub for it yet. Love science fiction based anime as you can tell :P

I also liked the "cute" ones when I was a kid. Hamtaro, Sailor Moon, Pokemon..all that. I can't see myself watching it now but I'll re-watch a series of Gundam any day ;)

  11. Runewords are everything, IMO. When you play all the way through instead of rushing or glitch rushing, there are nice low level runewords that add skills and stats. I always was rushed through the game and had my godly items all ready for me :P My boyfriend and I ran through the entire game once, was pretty cool learning some of those runewords. That's why you play on ladder, there's several runewords you cant make in non ladder that help a ton low level.

    http://www.planetdiablo.com/expansiond2/items/runes/runeitems.shtml

    Check em out.

Pretty much every build uses Enigma (as a Dusk Shroud or Archon Plate), but that requires high runes :P You will use different armour if you want to do PvP of course. I won't go further lol, it was all quite confusing for me for awhile. The only builds I really know how to make is a lightning sorc, ice orb sorc, and hammerdin. I made barb once, but they require some expensive items (EBOTDZ, stuff like that), but it was end of the season for ladder and that's when everything gets insanely expensive. Couldn't afford to make him haha.

Hahah, I could talk D2 for hours. It's like a different language :P Blame my boyfriend, he got me hooked on it 6 years lol. It's just not fun very much to us anymore. Even when we did a run through without rushing, we found a few good items we could trade for some reasonable runes, then it just went nuts from there. Within two weeks, we both had full godly builds...no trading between old characters or anything :P

  12. If you are going to play online, play on ladder. Better runewords. I'd also suggest finding friends to play with and play in a password protected game. If it's not, you'll have bots that will fill up your game, spam the crap outa the chat, and leave. It was so bad last year, that I had to keep my finger on the N key (clear chat) at all times because of the amount of bots that would come into the game. Checked my characters a few weeks ago, made a quick game, and had 7 bots enter my game within seconds. :wallbash: So, that hasn't changed. You can put level restrictions, but enough of those d2items guys will make high level bots so they can still spam you.
  13. Ah haha, well I played CoH just a few minutes ago. Went through the tutorial and the first mission. It was on easy, but I made it. Pretty good for someone who hasn't played a RTS in over 10 years :P Fun game though, will have to find a small MP map to play with my bf when he gets home :)
  14. Darksiders is a very average hack N slash game. It's well made, but utterly umimatginative.

Red Faction was an absolute disaster. Red Faction Guerilla was a very average game int erms of writing, acting, graphics, but had some excellent moments. Armageddon, the game they're selling with the bundle, was a compelte and utter failure in every way. Extremely low end third-person shooter with essentialy no story whatsoever, you simply shoot the same identicle aliens in hundreds of absolutely identicle corridors, until the credits roll. It lost the one and only fun thing Red Faction had: GEOMOD, turning it into a monotonous, horribly boring corridor shooter.

    Neither are worth playing.

Ah, that's kinda lame. Darksiders sounds alright, haven't played a hack n slash since Devil May Cry on the PS2 :P

I got the bundle really for CoH and the expansions. I'm not really good at RTS games, but my boyfriend said he would go easy on me haha. Gotta learn how to control it while he's at work. I thought it looked pretty fun and remembered that they have this bundle available. We haven't played a game together in a long time and this will be nice for me to actually learn how to play a RTS :) I was semi taught how to play Starcraft...but it was just my friend telling me what hotkeys to press lol.

Metro 2033, dunno. I only played the demo. It was pretty nice looking, got semi crappy performance on it. Not my style of game really, but I might give it a shot when I'm bored of CoH and finish beating Overlord II.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty decent bundle. THQ isn't doing so well, but maybe this will help them out somewhat. CoH2 looks pretty cool from what I've seen, would hate to never see it released.

  15. Hmm bought this pack. Didn't pay above the average to get Saint's Row 3...thought that game was kinda stupid anyways. I pretty much got it because my boyfriend got a hard copy of CoH from a friend. I like watching him play it and I decided to get the bundle so I could try playing it with him.

Only issue is...I dunno if it's because this copy of CoH he has came with my friend's graphics card or what...but he can't activate the CD key on Steam (says it's invalid). So we bought two of the bundles. Worked fine for me to activate my bundle. I tried to gift him the other bundle (did the giftable code thinger on the website), but it's giving him the same CD key as my bundle  Don't understand why it's being so stupid...but I e-mailed them.

Hopefully they can solve this...it's not really a big deal though. Payed $5 for two bundles...not like I'm really out anything :P How is Red Faction? It sounded interesting. Or Darksiders?

  16. An excellent place for people who will hound you till the end of the earth claiming that their IP is in fact 192.168.x.x.

me: "You fool! I'm *telling* you that 192.168.x.x is NOT your IP address.."

them: "This site is obviously wrong.. my computer told me differently."

me: "Just because Bill Gates has his operating system tell you something, dosn't mean that what it says is right." <_<

Haha yeah. That's your internal IP (for LAN gaming and such).

I always used portforward.com to look at my IP because I was on there quite a bit when I hosted servers.

  17. I have a very similar setup (faster RAM, Phenom II x4, same graphics card) and I'm using a 450W PSU. Skyrim runs pretty reasonable on my system, anywhere from 40-60FPS outdoors on Ultra settings, 4xAA, 16xAF, official high res patch. Never used any of that ENB stuff because none of the variants really caught my eye. I prefer using Realistic Lighting because there's no huge FPS hit (almost none it seems like).

You picked a nice little system there. I would suggest finding a different processor though, those 8 cores aren't all that fantastic. If you could find one of the Phenom II quad cores or the 6 cores, that would be a better choice. If not, you probably should consider going Intel if it's within your budget.

  18. Yep, those be artifacts. What are you GPU temps? Artifacts normally show up when the card is running too hot.

Even if you have a good cooler...it could of been seated wrong by the manufacturer. They also use very cruddy thermal grease IMO, it's always "rubbery" feeling. If you know how, I'd take the cooler off, clean it and re-grease it with a better thermal compound (Arctic Silver 5, Ceramique, something along those lines). If that doesn't help, the GPU could be on it's last legs. If you are still under warranty with it, I'd try to get a refund or replacement.

  19. Well, old Turkey day has come once again :D We are doing a small celebration, just my boyfriend, his mama, and myself. I'm doing the cooking too :D Finishing up coffee here then it's up to his mama's with the bird. Going to be a bit of a late dinner, but still delicious.

To all, Happy Thanksgiving! Get stuffed and watch football :P
