  1. Did you do a reinstall of skyrim when you switched to vortex or just switched midway through playing? That could break some scripts if the game thinks you uninstalled something or if a mod or two were lost along the way. Is the old mod manager still on your computer? When I first switched from NMM to Mod Organizer 2, NMM was still trying to mod my game at the same time as MO2, even though I did a reinstall. I only realized when mods I decided not to install where still showing up on my fresh Skyrim. It could be a situation like that. As far as the mods you've mentioned I'll admit Familiar Faces has given me a lot of trouble in the past, but I can't see it causing this kind of issue. Jcontainers works fine for me. I've never tried the other two so I can't answer for them. You can check TES5Edit to see if any mods have serious conflicts. And of course, there's always the possibility it's a load order issue. Maybe not, but 90% of the time it's load order.
  2. While I never had this glitch, I had tons of trouble with familiar faces. Fun mod but tons of weirdness. To be honest, my first recommendation is that you look into and start learning about ENB. At it's most basic level it solves a lot of problems and greatly improves stability of the game even if you don't use the graphics. With ENB setup properly I have practically eliminated CTD unless I do something stupid. While ENB may not be a listed requirement for familiar faces, it could help with memory issues. I don't know how many mods you have running. You could also try adjusting your load order. I'm willing to try to help you with ENB. I'm not an expert (far from that. It's one of the hardest things for me), but I've been trying to make a simple guide for those who, like me, don't know computers all that well. I can try to give you the very basic instructions. The people on the ENB forum are also very helpful to beginners. The guy who made ENB is frequently on there giving advice himself. If ENB doesn't solve your problem, I would consider deleting familiar faces completely. Load your saves, save them. Then try to reinstall it, sort load order, etc. But definitely consider using/learning ENB even if you skip out on the graphics.
  3. Most likely related to SOS. SOS has a known underwear glitch I believe, and there should be a patch somewhere on Loverslab. Using SOS and better males at the same time is also fairly redundant, as both mods try to do the same thing. They're probably competing and causing problems as well. But yes, look into SOS because I remember someone talking about a glitch. When SOS is installed all characters (male and female) are sometimes equipped with what is "supposed" to be invisible underwear to provide certain functions. Sometimes it turns visible briefly when changing clothes. Sometimes it turns visible and gets stuck. If the underwear you are referring to is a dark brown (and not the vanilla loincloth) then SOS is most likely the source of your trouble, and if not the source it is definitely related. EDIT: quick google search shows a thread dedicated to your problem and a fix. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/86403-how-to-fix-the-sos-perma-undies-bug/
  4. I have a few questions. 1. Which mod manager do you use (if any)? 2. Did you sort the load order after trying the new skin/reverting? I myself have changed skin textures a few times and never had this error. I'm inclined to think it is related to something else going on.
  5. I recently deleted the Familiar Faces mod. Just could not get it to work with my setup. I did all the steps, the mod even had a shutdown option. The mod is gone and the game itself works fine, but an empty MCM with a "$" in front of it is still hanging around. It looks like "$FamiliarFaces". How do I get rid of it? Edit: Should probably mention I already tried the console command to update the MCM menus and it didn't work.
  6. Looking for a mod (or even just an edit I can do) that prevents the automatic adding of arrows to my inventory when I'm struck by them. Sick of my inventory filling up with iron arrows etc. because the soldiers keep shooting them at me. Is there a way to stop it?
  7. Just today for no reason I started getting this error message "Failed to write mod list: failed to open temporary file" Now I've googled a lot and no solutions have worked yet. Where is this temporary file located? In what folder and with what other things? Is it in the Skyrim game folder? Is it in the Mod Organizer files? User? App Data? etc. I can't find where it is supposed to be. What is supposed to be in it? I've tried changing permissions and running as administrator. Nothing is working. I don't know what happened. Please help. I don't want to have to reinstall everything yet again. EDIT: And what should be in this temp folder if anything? I'm trying to figure out what happened to cause this. I don't think I did anything.
  8. Looking for any and all star trek mods. Also looking for a male Adidas tracksuit (for meme purposes)
  9. Disregard this post. Found the mod by chance literally right after typing the request.
  10. This mod also seems to have them as mounts https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30856
  11. I see. I suppose I should have considered that some mods might need the addition to work. Should be listed as a requirement for the mod then, in my opinion, but that's fine.
  12. Mod followers don't talk to me. Vanilla/DLC followers work fine. I am not using any follower overhauls, I like the vanilla system fine enough. Can't figure the problem out though. And it also isn't every follower mod, just any new ones I introduce. Fachry Raven the Titan Follower.esp works just fine so far.
  13. That would not work for the original poster. They are on PS4. PS4 has even more restrictions in modding than the Xbox. They can only use game assets for the mods. This means no new files, no new records. Just an ESP and BSA. The only type of mod that could work for PS4 is a direct edit of whatever record(s) hold the songs that can be played for the desired locations. Did not notice they mentioned PS4. Should have read more carefully. To be honest I don't even know how people get mods onto the console. I've been a straight PC player of skyrim for some time now. My xbox copy has gone untouched.
  14. I recommend using this mod and then adjusting the files to include the sovngarde theme (and any other songs you want). Instructions on how to do so are in the comments on the mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/97649
  15. Title is probably self-explanatory. But yeah, flaming eyes would be pretty damn cool. Even if it was just an equip-able effect and not an actual part off the character. But only the eyes, not the rest of the body (Saying this before people recommend me mods I already have).
  16. Ethereal Elven Overhaul is for you then Thank you very much. Looks good.
  17. I'm looking for a mod that improves the faces of elves to be prettier, especially the player character. I know about botox for Skyrim, but that mod removes facial animations so I don't want to use it until that issue is ironed out.
  18. Problem seems to have resolved itself. I had to reset literally every audio setting, disable enable speakers, mute unmute, etc. But it works now. Not sure what actually fixed it but something did.
  19. Using Windows 10. So I recently tried to install a new game. The audio for that game did not work, I deleted it. But now, Skyrim's audio isn't working (sort of). I tried updating sound drivers, etc. All the obvious paths have been taken. I still get audio via headphones if I connect them, but no speaker audio. Speaker audio works fine for youtube videos, regular sounds, but apparently not Skyrim anymore. Has anyone ever heard of this? I honestly have no idea how to proceed. None of my usual solutions seem to be working. EDIT: CTD rate also jumped up. Could this have anything to do with direct x or some other change from installing a new game? Also, if important, I have Realtek speakers (whatever that is).
  20. So I'm generally aware of the benefits of merging files, but haven't needed to do it yet since I run relatively few at a time. But there is something I want to know. So hypothetical scenarios to follow: 1. Let's say I have mods of a single type, all spell mods from the same creator. If I merge them, would I be able to take that merged file and save it as a separate mod, so that if I wanted to reinstall it at a later date I could keep it as a single install? or would I have to install each mod one by one and re-merge every single time? If you can save it as a single merged file, how would I accomplish this? 2. Let's say they are from different creators and some spells are more complex than others. For example some spells are just given to you by the mod, but some have books you need to find or even a very small quest. Can they still be merged with minimal risk and/or saved as a single file? 3. For clothing mods, let's say I have quite a few. Some have bodyslide files and patches. Can I merge mod and patch? 4. And If I wanted to merge several separate clothing mods, some with and some without bodyslide files, how will bodyslide and the game handle it? For example, merging Lustmord armor which has no bodyslide/hdt support and merging Apachii Divine elegance which has both (but as patches)? 5. Finally, can crash fix mods be merged? Mods that fix script events like dragonsouls not absorbing, CTD prevention, etc. Or should they remain seperate? I'm trying to streamline some of my processes, and if I could combine certain mods that I always install into a single "mod" it would make things much easier. If relevant, I'm using MO2 as my mod manager. For the time being everything is fully functional.
  21. I appreciate the offer but you don't have to do that for me. I'd rather learn to do this sort of thing myself if I can, and just nail down how its done. I've made some of my own Asian faces (male and female) and they aren't bad, just not even close to the person I mentioned above. I have tried to reach out to them but I'm getting the impression they either don't want to answer, or there might be a language barrier. But the tutorials provided above will certainly be of assistance. If you do take any screenshots of your characters I'd still be happy to see them and it might give me some ideas I'm not thinking of, but you don't need to go out of your way.
  22. I've tried most of those methods and fell way short of the mark I'm going for. It's also hard to find a preset I like that didn't use Enhanced Character Edit. Most of them list both ECE and Racemenu. I'm wondering if they build them in ECE and somehow export them to Racemenu afterwards. It doesn't make sense that they'd list two incompatible mods but they do.
  23. Has its limits, but glowtastic might help achieve some of the desired effect. Has multiple effects to choose from and they are activated like spells. Each spell lasts about three days so with regular reapplication it might do. Only does full body though. In theory you could maybe find a way to attach the effect to an equip item for a more permanent effect. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12253 There are some other mods with equipable auras/effects but I've never tried them. It's certainly a cool idea though. I'd be down for some fire hands or shadow hands if someone were to do this.
  24. Thank you for the info. I've been using CBBE but may switch to UNP on my next fresh install. I have an ENB and skin texture I like. My interests were primarily on the face, and I suspect these tutorials will help. I've also used the racemenu tool for copying facial geometry but results were limited or sometimes didn't copy properly, other times it worked wonders. But at least I finally have the answers I was looking for. I'll probably stick with Racemenu since so many of my other mods depend on it. Thank you very much.
  25. I've seen mods that stop random vampire attacks on towns (Awesome) and mods that stop guards from talking to me about my shouting (I just saved you from a dragon and your questioning my dragonrend shout?) Can someone make a mod that stops the dawnguard from attacking vampire players? Ordinarily it wasn't a big deal but the frequency has been getting both ridiculous and annoying (especially in towns where it results in a brawl and unwanted NPC deaths). Ideally if I could merge the three of these into a single mod, that would be very cool.
