  1. - Scrap Everything - Ultimate Edition.esp always goes to the very bottom.

    - Homemaker - Greenhouse and Bunker Disabler.esp & Homemaker - Streetlights Use Passive Power.esp to the top.
    - Some Assembly Required (Legendary Patch).esp goes below Some Assembly Required.esp

Your best bet is to deactivate all mods and then turn them on a couple a time to find the one that's causing the problem.

  2. Javascript is a client side scripting language for websites. You don't need that for modding Fallout 4. You're probably referring to Java, but you only need that if you want to actually write programs that help with modding. You don't really need to pay for classes for anything, since almost everything you need to know can be found here and elsewhere in nice tutorials. And if not, here are a lot of people willing to answer your questions and help you out.

It all depends on what you want to make. For something like an entire city with all new objects, (voiced) people, new sounds and other effects, don't expect to do that all on your own. Team up with others and share the workload. The first step for something of that scale is to write a concept, and share some of it here to get people interested in your project.

But may I suggest to start with something smaller, so you gather some experience with modding? If you like writing, then how about some nice little scavanger hunt? Something that, for a change, can truly be called a riddle, with an intriguing tale told through the clues. Maybe some caps stash and rare ammo as a reward at the end. That way you can rely purely on vanilla assets and learn the ropes with the Creation Kit (CK).

You get access to the CK by downloading the Bethesda.Net Launcher (top right corner). Create an account, login, download the program, and then only start it from its installation location if you don't want to have to mess with that awful Launcher all the time. Here's an introduction video for the CK.

  3. I'm currently learning how to create meshes and add them to the game. While I successfullly managed to add a very basic custom object to the workshop and place it, it has no collision, so I'm currently following this guide to add such.

The idea seems to be that a simpler version of the original mesh is merged via NifUtilsSuite with the real one to serve as a collision box. Unfortunately that guide is for Skyrim, and every time I try to merge two meshes the program just stops working. I figure this has to do with the Nif settings somehow.

Judging by other threads about collision there seem to be only very few people actually creating their own collision that way, instead of puzzling it together from existing ones. I don't know if this is true, but if there happens to be someone here who does that, can you please tell me what I have to do differently for Fallout 4?

Also: Would it be alright for me to upload NifUtilsSuit here somewhere? It was very hard to find, and I'd like to make life a bit easier for anyone who might need it in the future.

    Thank you for reading. :)

  4. You can start anywhere you want, since none of the games are connected storywise, and don't even play in a shared universe (unless they're marked as FF X-1 and FF X-2 for example). Personally, I liked FF VIII the best.

  5. There also are some issues regarding the support system when using this Theme. Some weird signs appear in posts and the spoiler tag doesn't work correctly (it is always in opened state). I censored the text in the screenshot. Assuming that not many people use it, this should be low priority.

  6. I like that idea very much, and the quality of your concept. Looks as if it's been always like that. You have my full support.

"Naturally these options could be turned on and off. If a person wants to keep their profile simple, they could do that."

Yes, that's the most important part, since mandatory changes around here seem to always spark a lot of controversy, tears, and overthrown governments.

"atleast be able to upload a banner to the profile page."

I personally wouldn't be interested much in the Most Endorsed lists, but the banner is something I, too, really want to see here, now.

Thank you for posting this. I hope it gets implemented.

  7. Looks like the lamps do give off light, but only very weak. Could be intentional (if the location is a modded one), or some mod conflict. What mods are you using? Did you try deactivating all mods and see if it's still occuring?

  8. "Dropped my entire mod list and re-ran the same route, worked perfectly fine. So it's either a mod, or a combination of them causing issues. So now running the long arduous task of uninstalling and reinstalling them to try and narrow down the culprit."

Yeah, it can be a real pain to troubleshoot this stuff. Unfortunately there's no way around it. :-/ It would be awesome if you could post again when you find the culprit, as it could help others in the future with a similar problem. :)

  9. From what I gather, skimpy/slooty mods aren't prohibited specifically (only the explicit stuff). There have been some of those mods for XBOX, but they've been taken down. Not by Bethesda, but by the Author due to some disagreement of how Bethesda handled mod implementation on consoles. They won't work on PS4, tho, since Sony doesn't allow third party assets like new textures/models, etc. So only pure CK mods for PS4.

No need to apologize for not knowing everything.

  10. "But, might I be so bold as to suggest we first gather a flock of volunteers to go through the help fora with a sniffing dog and a magnifying glass (maybe also don a tweed costume with a hat with side-flaps) to already gather information on certain problems and add that to the repository beforehand. Which will be a huge task all in itself. Add to this that no-one knows what problems have already occured and which haven't and things might get complicated."

I like the idea as a project on its own (and the image you paint with your words). Something similar to a "Skyrim Bug Tracker", just for many games and related to modding, and more like a Wiki. Something that grows organically over time, since my puny mind isn't capable of thinking about every possible problem category, etc. Way too many solutions get lost in the depths of forums, because a search gives too many unrelated results or the author didn't bother to come back and provide information about what fixed it, or threads getting deleted for some reason. I do have my own webspace with enough ressources and could host it.

It would be very useful for the little fairies, but not a dependency for them to help in the first place. It was my intention to just let each volunteer rely on their own experience, as it's already the case with people trying to help in the normal forum, hence the experience level entry below each user name in the list.

"Also, we can't be talking NFFs for all games here. Will be hard to find folk who have a thorough knowledge of all games available."

Exactly, that's why volunteers have to specify the games they want to give support for (see the games list below the names). Some games will have lots of helpers, others none. Can't avoid that in such a system entirely based on volunteers.

"There's over ten years worth of problem posting and answers to those, spread over thousands of pages. Are you willing to skim those to further the cause and add to the knowledge base?"

The forum needs a function to tag resolved issues as "solved", so they can be easily identified as such between all the dead-end posts.^^ But yeah, I'd count myself to the fairy army and the serfs working in the thread corpse mines, looking for shiny solutions to ancient problems.

  11. Okay, so you have a physical table top game called Legion, which is based on Star Wars. You want to mod it in terms of supplying new figurines and surroundings, in the form of mesh files to use with 3D printers. Is that correct?

I think that's completely new terrain for the Nexus in terms of legal issues. So far, this platform is purely for software games. Your idea is quite interesting, tho. I think it's pretty awesome.

Unfortunately I can't help you with the legalities. I assume it would be best to just contact whoever produces Legion. But as long as you don't sell or make any money off of it, I don't see a problem here, personally.

As for Blender and Frosty, let me point you to the part of this forum more suited for your needs: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/forum/319-3d-modelling/

  12. "If anyone can recommend an author or team get in contact with i'd appreciate it"

I don't know if someone already wrote you a PM or not, but if not: Better look for largely popular mods on the Nexus and write the authors directly, or leave a comment there. I think most a very busy and just don't look into this part of the forum that often. Don't worry, most people are very nice here. It would be a shame if the request of such an enthusiastic new modder would stay unanswered.

  13. Welcam, EnglishGentleman.

Zhis is GermanPotato speaking, but you can call me "Jawohl, mein Herr".

I am zorri to hear about your condition. Don't wörri, tho, we jast mäke a mod to fix zhis.

Witsh ozher games are ju pläying? I cannot imadshin a slooty mod for Euro Truck Sim 2, or do you mod huge wheelkäps and horns onto zhe trucks?

Looking forward to some of your TruckSim-Mods, since there's a lack of those compared to games like Skyrim. :)

  14. It's safe to reinstall the .NetFramework 4.5 - rarely anything on a normal pc user's computer relies on it. You also need to activate the mods after installing them. There was an option to do this via the default game launcher, but it looks like Bethesda deactivated that, so you need the NMM to do it.

  15. Dungeon Keeper 1 - I played that for hours and hours, but it was more fun after editing gold nodes to drop much more gold (the first time I modded game files), sealing off my dungeon, and then training all creatures to maximum level and swamp the enemy with them. Or just possess one and go on the epic quest to murder all heroes with an imp (which doesn't work that good :v )

  16. I ban 0Theara for the following reasons:

    1. Commenting without banning someone
    2. Posting mysterious links to a magical country called Cambodia
    3. Living in a magical country without inviting us to come an visit

    4. Letting big evil government censor the tinder profile link in the signature

  17. Welcome on the Nexus, ComaPony. :)

"Mods have opened up a whole new world to me and breathed life into some of my favorite games of all time."

So true. Still, the best one's are those made with modding in mind. The possibilities are simply astonishing!

"and I hope at some point I can actually start to make mods."

Do you already have an idea about which game you want to mod?

  18. Thank you for the constructive reply. I wrote this on a tablet which's buttons are five times smaller than my fingers, so I didn't go into detail much.

"We're gonna need a bigger mailbox for this."

I was more thinking of using a chat for this. Here are some cheaply made pictures of what I imagine:

"would open the floodgates for anybody who but even remotely thinks they need help."

Yes, that's why volunteers should have full control over their availability, and be able to turn down requests. it should be something people do when they want to, hence the configuration options and the helper list that only shows available helpers (as in "currently online and willing to help").

"This takes away the possibility for others to find a solution to their similar problem since there's no topic to be found anywhere"

True. While I do think that most of the problems these helpers will encounter are one's that already have been discussed to death on the forum, it would be up to each NFF to record any new fixes. Maybe in a special thread called "NFF transcribed solutions", or directly contact mod authors to report load order issues they didn't mention in their mod's description, yet? Again, everything voluntary.
