Looking for suggestions for a set of mods to make Skyrim pretty
Trickai replied to Trickai's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
hmmmm....I am probably thinking of two different things and using the wrong words for both... I don't want the mods to overwrite each other yes, but I figure I can avoid that by just reading the descriptions and ensuring that I don't get two mods that do the same thing, but yes that is a worry. The main worry though is that I have one mod that will make another mod not work....like I know that some mods won't work if you have open cities mod which I really like. Also there is another mod that makes whiterun a really big forest but there are some mods that won't work if you have that mod running. More than anything I guess it is just like I said, I have to really pay attention to the descriptions if I am searching on my own...I put that in my original post thinking that people who are much more familiar with the game and mods than I am would know which mods would not be good together and in particular with the mods I listed. -
Looking for suggestions for a set of mods to make Skyrim pretty
Trickai replied to Trickai's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
hmmmmm.....thanks for all that info. Now I am re-thinking adding any of those I mentioned. But I will do as you suggest and add them one pack at a time to figure out what works and what I like. I think I need to stop and think for a bit about what I really want to add. Do I really want or need the trees to look better...are they taking away from my enjoying the game as they are now? Same with buildings and cities....do I want to fix them so they look better....and I am already thinking that the things I want most to fix are the buildings and cities and not so much the landscapes and water and stones etc... Really good response Jones, appreciate your time. -
I have been having a bit of trouble finding mods that don't conflict. I think it's because I don't really understand the idea behind textures and meshes and so on. Basically I am looking for a set of mods that won't conflict with each other that will make things pretty/more realist/more high def/just better so land...basically water, rocks, ground, trees, flowers cities and towns, buildings, objects. now some of this I think I may have found.... Noble Skyrim Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM Skyrim Flora Overhaul Realistic Water Two I think I have covered almost everything with these four, but not sure about rocks/mountains, or just generally buildings in cities...so if anyone has any suggestions to further improve the looks of the game I would really appreciate any suggestions. Oh and I use open cities so nothing that conflicts with that either...I REALLY like Open Cities and don't want to get rid of it

thanks....I stopped the bethesda ones...deleted them all...the game runs better now actually....not sure why but it is noticeable.

So with the new LOOT I am finally able to sort mod order without having to do it on my own. When I start the game and go to mods to ensure that all the mods are loaded, the order Bethesda has is not the same as what LOOT has done. So am I doing something wrong? Do I have to click on the mods button on the opening screen and go to Bethesda mods at all or can I just go right in and play my game? Do I have to go to the Bethesda list and make it match my LOOT list? The Bethesda list confused me since I had been using NMM and installed all the mods, I wasn't sure why I had to use the Bethesda one at all. Am I doing this wrong?

ahhh...there we go, yep using the patch...thanks for confirmation that it is a bug and was fixed by a patch...won't drive me crazy any more trying to figure it out

I am thinking that must be it because I can't get it to work at all.

So I have seen several videos and guides that describe how to use soul trap on dead animals once you have looted them to quickly raise conjuration. I have tried this several times with several types of animals and it never works. I get the message that the animal (still dead) resists the soul trap and the corpse moves a bit like it was hit. I can do this dozens and dozens of times and never gain a single point. Has this...bug or whatever it is...been removed? Would a mod be somehow interfering with this method of leveling conjuration?

I installed the version I downloaded and it didn't work. Too bad, would have been a great mod to have

I had seen this mod and liked the idea of it. Downloaded it but hadn't installed it as the posts on it mentioned there was a mistake or something the creator had to fix. Apparently it was fixed and a new version uploaded and so I got that one but decided to wait a bit to see if there were any more updates. Now the mod is gone from the site completely and I am left wondering why....and should I install or not install the download I do have. I am now unsure of the mod and if it is safe, or why it was removed. Can anyone shed some light on this? Was it bugged and I should delete the download I have?

This was a great mod for Skryim and really hoping it gets upgraded for SE Skryim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/43123/? that's the link. It was great for all characters, always used it to load up my protections and wards. I think it needs SKSE to work so that might be a ways off yet.

I have the NMM installed but have some questions... first....should the game folder that NMM uses be the Skyrim folder or the Skyrim Special Edition folder....because no matter what I do I can't seem to make it use the Special Edition folder. second...when looking at the Skyrim Special Edition patch it says that the load order should be Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm Hearthfires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp [The rest of your mods] Now I do have Dawnguard, Hearthfires and Dragonborn but none of them show up in the list of plugins, all I have are skyrim and update. Now those files are in the Special Edition folder in steam, but that just brings me back to my first question as to whether NMM should be using the special edition folder and if so, how do I set it and make it stick.....I can go into options and choose the special edition folder, click ok, but it just won't stick EDIT: got it.....clicking on the folder I want and clicking okay doesn't work...but typing in the folder name and hitting enter does work and it sticks. So now I have the right folder and the DLC's are showing up

I had just started Skyrim and found ASAP an automatic perk mod. Can't play without it now....okay well I could but I really don't want to. Hoping something similar makes it to the Special Edition mods

Quick updates to the site, money money money edition
Trickai replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I will never pay for mods. I refuse to support Steam, Valve or Bethesda in this idiotic money grab. From this day forward I will only work with Nexusmods. I understand completely why some authors here on Nexus will or have removed their mods. It makes me sad. But I will get the best mods I can that are available from Nexus and be thankful for them. I don't care what mods are uploaded to steam, free or paid, I will never use them. This is the most idiotic move by a company since New Coke. I hope both Valve and Bethesda lose their shirts in this with lawsuits or whatever. I am so mad I could just spit *patooie* -
Thanks very much Jeir, I appreciate the info. I will go back and check them all again. You are very active and helpful in the forums I see. You also helped me out on my question about BOSS and eventually I figured out how to upload the html file. It's so nice to have an active forum and also a helpful and knowledgeable membership. Too many times forums just degenerate into trolling sessions and mess with the noob. Again, thanks.

Oh thanks....to be clear though, what do I not need to do any more.... I don't need to uncheck anything....or.....I don't need to change the two ini files....or....both?
-
I put this question here but also in the posts for the mod. Hoping for a quick answer from either place. The instructions tell me to uncheck HighResTexturePack01.bsa and HighResTexturePack02.bsa in data files...BUT....do I also uncheck them in nexus mod manager under plugins? Note that I have done the changes to the two ini files, it is just the unchecking of the two files I am not sure about...if I need to do it in data files from the actual game loader as well as from the plugins in NMM....I launch from NMM because of one mod requiring it, although I can't remember which mod does, I think SKYUI

no idea how to post the html log. do I have to copy and paste it as plain text or from word? or is there an option somewhere to upload it as a file? -

My initial reaction was if it is working now, then don't mess with it. I figured the navmesh things were because of added buildings or deleted terrain to add new buildings and terrains, so the 8 mods that gave me the navmesh warnings I thought probably weren't important. The dirty edits I might try and fix (thanks for the condensed guide it is pretty concise). -
Hi. I am completely new to mods and stuff. I install and hope for the best and try to follow the instructions about load order. So far so good. I have over 70 mods installed and run with no problems. I read about BOSS and decided to give it a go. So I ran it and ended up with 15 warnings, but, 7 are on inactive mods. Basically better sorting puts this notice on all the different options because you aren't supposed to have more than one of the same type (food, gems and so on). So once you have run it and made your choices the other choices are installed but not active. So those 7 can basically be ignored is my understanding. The other 8 are on mods that add new buildings and are all deleted navmesh. I am not sure if I need to fix those or if I can leave them alone, but as the game seems to be working I am thinking they are okay? I mean if a new building is added then some things in the game had to have been changed or deleted right? So that is the first question, do I leave them alone or try to fix them with the TES5edit that BOSS suggests? Again that would be a totally new experience for me and wouldn't have any clue what I was doing and would be following some guide that BOSS has a link to. And finally there are a bunch of other mods that have no errors or anything on them but there are also a few that have no warning but do say Contains dirty edits Needs TES5edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here. Again is this something I should attempt or should I leave well enough alone? Also would posting my BOSS log be helpful in any way? I didn't want to post it if it was not allowed here or if it wouldn't really be useful to anyone. I am not adverse to trying the TES5edit.....but.....the game seems to run fine as it is and so wonder if I should push my luck.

How do I set a custom home so my followers will stay there
Trickai replied to Trickai's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
ah okay thanks for the info. so no matter what Lydia is going to stay at Breezehome, but by using one of those mods mentioned I can get other followers to stay in another home....thanks for the info. -
I agree....I want to save them all. We need two different things here. First we need that big home. I am thinking we need a former orphanage, hospital, school, barracks. Something with lots of bedrooms. Or a large farm with a converted barn maybe. Second we need that Multiple Adoptions mod to allow us unlimited adoptions so we can adopt them all. According to this page http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Child there are a total of 38 possible adoptable kids.
-
Two things. First for the Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions to have an unlimited setting so that I can adopt all the kids I find that need a home. Second a home big enough to hold all those kids. Maybe some large farm or maybe a former orphanage, just outside Whiterun maybe. For now I am using Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions and trying to find the best home for 6 kids that is close to whiterun or fairly easy to get to. I am thinking I might end up using Aspen Manor and just cheating myself the money to buy it.
