  1. Speaking from my own perspective this is my thoughts on this. The term "user/users" is not nor should be seen as a negative one, it's intention (one would assume) is not to set a feeling of anger at being labeled as such but to describe the activity of which you are partaking in while accessing the site, I believe the recent illustrations we have seen of the misuse of the word have sparked some concern among some people but overall the feeling is that this term is not what is at the forefront of people's mind. (at least that's what I've witnessed through my perspective) There is always room for improvement in anything we do either individually or as a community, but trying to incite a change of a name now or when the dust settles is just going to exacerbate the situation in people's minds and this is the last thing we as a community need, change will happen when it is needed but I think this might be the equivalent of using a band-aid (plaster if your English) on 3rd degree burns (excuse the poor analogy).
  2. Your post was very concise and detailed, I also dislike that we so quickly lashed out at those whom provided us with so much for so little in return, while I did not participate in the attacking and flaming of anyone I did participate enough in the essence that I did what any self respecting person would do and defended peoples rights to do as they pleased, more specifically I was on the defense for Isoku & Chesko as I actually never knew that SkyUI was planning on moving to the paywall, had I been aware of such facts I would have defended their rights too. I consider myself to be a part of this community no matter how badly we as a whole messed up, I think in future we as a unit, as a whole need to be more conscious about our actions and what reactions they might provoke, as at the end of the day, it is not just us that is being hurt by this vendetta that some carried out. “So tonight you better stop and rebuild all your ruins, because peace and trust can win the day despite all your losing.” Quoted by Led Zeppelin, but I think it fits quite nicely here. :)
  3. Ok a few points I'd like to add to your post. 1. I like the idea of the donation page but I think that the idea that you "HAVE" to input a number even if it is 0.00 is still going to put off a lot of people, as was proven with "Paid Mods" idea people do not like being told that something in mandatory, rather have an option like it is now with certain mods have a Donate button on the download window but remove the need to have to input a number. 2a. This could and would likely never happen as it is too much like pay to play and the nexus is strictly against, or even forbade to sell products for money, even more so now I would imagine. 2b. This kind of thing right now after this disaster would only serve to reignite the fire that we as a community have barely managed to douse. 3. The idea that we could do a similar thing to valve on a site like this is nothing short of comedic, while we are allowed to accept donations we cannot legally promote them as vividly as valve did, for many reasons some of which I'm sure Dark0ne has covered before. 4. Adverts should not be placed before mods especially on a site like this as it screams "Paywall" to many users The best solution to this is simply to find ways to further enhance the currently used system as now those who wish to can have a donate button on their download window Agreed those 'freemium' games are exceptionally annoying, I find that having to wait "x" amount of time for content can be a major downfall to the author/creator as it puts of many potential consumers, the donation system should be enhanced further I truly believe. The other option the mod authors have if they wish to enhance upon the donation button is something similar to gofundme which is essentially a site completely separate from the nexus and still allows those who wish to donate to do so and in the process funds the mod author to continue to make better mods all without infringing on the current system implemented within the nexus.
  4. Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul - Clouds was originally hosted here it has been hidden however so I'm unsure as to whether we'll see the return of this mod in the future.
  5. I have been researching a pay what you want feature and it seems like it could be a good idea but it would have to be implemented in such a way that not only would not be intrusive but would also not be controversial, like for example a pay what you want system whereby a button is placed on the " Action bar " along with Perms and contact it could have a " Support me/my mods " button whereby users could then if they wished choose to donate x amount of money to the author, this would also eliminate the belief that because you donated that you now have some say in how long a mod should be before completion, as supporting something doesn't guarantee it will be finished within the time schedule provided (many example of this are indie games who run off a donations only system) I am no good with PSP or anything else so I cannot provide a visual aid to my suggestion but if you refer to the initial image atop this page you will notice the " Actions " bar I'm suggesting that a " Support me " button be placed there somewhere, it is unobtrusive and still visible (to those who look anyway) it also doesn't require any mod author to actively promote it either and it could also be enabled by default and have the option of disabling it for those mod authors who only mod for fun. Obviously there will be drawbacks to any buttons/actions related to this instance but if policed properly (and let's face it Nexus does a fantastic job of policing the site) it could be extremely beneficial in the long run, there should never be direct association with donations and mod completions as this would infer that a contract had been forged * I.E: User X donated $20 to Mod Author Y to simply draw them back to finish a mod or repairs game breaking bugs * and essentially this is frowned upon unless you are a big company with more lawyers than NASA have space programs. The idea of donations being a competition is a good one but I don't know if displaying it openly on the front page would be a viable place, I agree that some system should be placed somewhere to better enforce this, perhaps have an option of when clicking the endorse option it asks if you want to donate and if you click yes it shows you a window of how much each respective user has donated and therefore maintains the competitiveness but still maintains a high level of discretion thus keeping the Nexus Mods site reputation as high as it can be. I shall no doubt weigh in with more on this later after a nap. Let me know what you think of my ideas and see if we adapt them to make them better :)
  6. Ok So I thought I might post here in the hopes of finding a solution to a problem that has been plaguing me since I downloaded Morskom, I use real shelter and when I use the patcher to collect data from all my installed mods, it gives me the usual messages about adding masters and such, but then when it gives me the message about morskom cot patch being added to master list TES5EDIT gives me a error, ******* EDIT ******* Attachment removed as after checking through it contained no error messages and would have led only to further confusion. However if someone is all knowing and knows of a way to get RSPatch to recognize Morskom cot patch then I would be greatly appreciative :)
  7. Unfortunately the only fix I could find was to uninstall and reinstall Skyrim, SKSE and all my mods, plus side is now I can run skyrim from my ssd
  8. Nevermind, I managed to sort this problem out on my own, thankyou for your help though :)
  9. Ok I have an extensive list of mods, 200+ to be exact excluding those inside of SMC (Skyrim Mod Combiner) and my game ran flawlessly without any issues, I was running SKSE 1.7.1 but then I decided to upgrade to SKSE 1.72 (Skyrim Script Extender) (this is the beta one not the current build) and followed the video guide on the site, however now when I load in a new game with AS: LAL (Alternate Start: Live Another Life) and start in the Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood, I can navigate around inside and talk to Selene Kate just fine, but on attempt to leave and go outside, the load screen appears but just before loading it crashes My PC setup CPU: Intel Pentium i5 4670k Haswell @ 3.40Ghz Overclocked to 4.00Ghz Graphics Card: AMD Radeon MSI R9 280 OC 3GB GDDR5 System Ram: 16GB Kingston Hyperx Blue Hard Drive Free Space: C:334GB Free, F:157GB free (F is where all my games are located) Game is located in my F: drive, more specifically F:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim I have it through steam and keep it up to date so game version is 1.9.32.0 I have Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire as I bought the legendary edition I am using the latest version of Nexus Mod Manager 0.52.3 I am using SKSE 1.7.2 I also run Loot version 0.61 and TES5Edit 3.0.32EXP version as per the download page found on nexus mods. Here is my loot log Any help provided to get me gaming again would be appreciated. Just to give all of you whom are reading this some more information, When I upgraded to the beta of SKSE I did not uninstall my mods at all and just uninstalled 1.7.1 and then installed 1.7.2, could this be the issue ?
  10. I've suffered a similar instance but using Comodo Web Browser has meant that no downloads are allowed without my expressions permission, I have reported this fake page to both Comodo and Google, and I will go ahead now and report it to Java team also, also a note to remember that you can press the back button and click the x to stop the page loading completely allowing you to browse the mod a little easier, it's a small inconvenience but it's better than constant redirects at least until this problem gets sorted.
  11. Well for a start you should clean the following mods with TES5Edit Update.esm Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm You should also download and install the unofficial patches found here on the nexus as they fix some of the game bugs that are present otherwise, For your convenience they are located Unofficial Skyrim Patch Unofficial Dawnguard Patch Unnoficial Hearthfire Patch Unofficial Dragonborn Patch Unofficial High Resolution Patch If you are unsure how to clean mods in TES5Edit then watch this Video by gopher who explains it all in a very simple, clean, clear and concise way. Hope this helps you get a more stable game to play.
