  2. I was very surprised by the lack of sniper rifle weapons in the default game, and the ones that did exist were underwhelming at best

the sniper mods we do have are super heavy sniper weapons (the anti tank weapons and massive .50 cal barrets), but no light to medium snipers.

heck, we have even someone giving away his sniper meshes here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10420/?

and nobody has taken up his offer

it would be really cool to have some more cool new snipers in the game, if anyone wants to put the time in to make them :)

if you are think about testing the Beta and you have mods installed then i recommend that you use a program like 7zip to compress a backup of the game folder and a backup of
    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Fallout4 and C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

if you are going to mod the game or test the Beta i recommend make a compress backup of the clean game folder

imho it makes sense to disable mods in the Beta to have the game running in a known state to make sure that bugs are not getting added by mods or mods are not hiding bugs that you may have gotten if you had a clean game

imho it is a bit annoying the console being disabled there's probably a reason we may not know the reason but there's probably is a reason

the reason is that it makes people go to bethesda for help, if something can be fixed by a single command line, and is never reported to bethesda, it wont get fixed.

    isolating variables.

aslo your system will be improved upon by modders anyway so... yeah just give us the GECK already
Snowskeeper wrote: They're not interested in testing their new survival mode's modability, right now. What they're looking for is feedback about how it works in its vanilla state, so that they can make it as fun and bug-free as possible *before* release.

If you don't want to play the game without mods, then wait until the completed version of Survival Mode is released. This is not the completed version.

you obviously do not know how to beta test, go someplace else

The only way for me to play now is to switch to Beta : it gets my mods off and I can play... but I'm not interested in the survival type. It shucks. :(

could be an incompatibility with the recent patch and some of your mods, i would update your mods so they are compatible with the recent patch

Plageron wrote: Typical Bethesda...sounds like they are disabling a bunch of stuff on the next patch.

I was with the rhetoric about the disabling only for this beta....until I realized they disabled the console system...sorry the changes have nothing to do with that system...so there is no reason to disable it...unless they plan to.

In addition they still have not fixed half the bugs and issues they already have which means they don't intend to.

In this case....I highly suggest anyone who plays the beta or the live version of this....don't get stuck on texture or your game will be ruined.

the intent of the beta is to test an unimplimented feature, not to "fix bugs" or "disable mods and console"

it is a beta, and should be treated as such.
  7. tried the beta out for a few hours, looks promising so far, could use some tweaking before final release, but it is a beta after all.

created a new profile in NMM, created a new save in game, tested, reached a desision and opted out, loaded up my previous clean profile, and loaded my existing saves without error.

    beta release is beta release,

everything went as expected, and all the "errors" are user errors.

cant wait for the full release :)

congratulations. something you could do, is instead of posting a useless comment here, go to the Bethesda forums and suggest proper alternatives in an educated format

completely ignoring the fact that the game doesn't even HAVE a survival feature yet,

what will become the survival feature is in beta, and should be treated as such

Not possible. The Opt In bar on Steam under Properties/Beta does not toggle.
20rakah wrote: try verifying the cashe, restarting steam or reinstalling F4. failing that delete clientregistry.blob and see if that helps

user error, there is a good way to fix the "errors"

general tip would be to start a new game on a beta, do some reading, you can find your answer out there.

You have done a half arsed job by not knowing this already, lol :)
OtakuWit wrote: That's because most texture/mesh/sound/etc replacers just replace, or are loaded over, the original files as opposed to adding new content via esp file, and would be rather difficult to disable. Combine this with the fact that they're not very likely to affect the new survival mode features in any way, and there's not much reason to even bother trying.
steve40 wrote: No s#*! guys, that's why I called them "replacer files" ;P
Zaldiir wrote: There is no reason for them to remove the files from your game folder, so why would they do that? They simply disabled mods due to them potentially causing issues with the update. A texture, mesh, sound, or material file is not going to mess with the update.
steve40 wrote: No, but they could cause game issues and complicate the beta testing. Loose textures in mods like Gore Overhaul, for example, caused CTDs after previous game updates. Surely Beth could easily make the beta executable ignore loose files during the test period.
Eruadur wrote: Gore Overhaul had badly written textures. It would eventually cause your game to crash at some point with or without updates and such
FightmeRL wrote: Exactly steve, that was well within the realm of possibilities. Considering all of the other steps they've taken it would have made sense to me for sure. This has been a really strange experience with Beta with plenty of inconsistencies.

the beta did not break your mods, you did. the beta DISABLED the mods for a reason, as to be completely independent from them. there are ways to fix it, you just need to read, that, and don't start a beta on existing saves, it was always recommended to start a new game

Jellyjoker wrote: I cannot stand the save mechanic, losing loads of playtime because "Molotov spam, lol" is really frustrating and not in a good way.

well it IS a beta, your feedback is wanted, go post it on the bethesda forums, and try to be plesant, it might be adjusted, but not if everyone is being annoying about it
  13. I very much appreciate this change. i have been using adblock in the past because of adds on this site that make me uncofortable (loud noises and flashing), and i greatly support the fact that you arent peanilizing adblock users, and im glad we are moderating adds now,

i may give it a week or 2 so everything settles down add wise, however i plan to turn off adblock after that.

thank you all for all your work on this site, we all really apriciate it!

  14. in general a good procedure is to not install more than 1-2 mods at a time,

a good thing to do is first run LOOT (https://loot.github.io/) to fix any major load order problems (if you are unsure what loadorder is i would suggest watching Gopher's modding for beginners series as it has very nice information)

if that dosent work, start off by de-activating all your mods and activate 2-3 at a time, start up the game, and if it starts properly, add some more.

if all goes to plan, you can easily narrow down the problem mod by the moment it CTD's first.

most likley you are just missing a required ESP, and LOOT should tell you this immediatley.

good luck, and let me know if you locate the problem, or need more help :)

  15. i have had some problems with seemingly random freezes and the occasional CTD, and i was wondering if someone could take a look at my loadoder and other importat files (via modwatch) and see if we can nail down an issue.

http://www.modwat.ch/u/rotwhip3 is the link to my current upload, if anyone would be so kind as to go through it and inform me of any glaring issues and subtle incompatibilities and let me know if there is any tweaks i can do to get a more stable game

the loadorder is as LOOT has put it, however i understand that sometimes LOOT gets some things wrong

    thanks in advance!
