  1. It's not a must-do or else .BSAs would not exist. =D As far as I know, you can leave them be if you're not a power user. If you use Mod Organizer, you can extract them for easier conflict resolution and more customization.
  2. My bad, I overlooked that. I'm not sure if it works for AMD cards, but I would guess not. Does your laptop have an integrated AND dedicated GPU? Have you tried using the Injector version of ENB?
  3. ripple, are there confirmed performance issues with Splash of Rain? I haven't tried it myself yet, but most people haven't reported any performance problems.
  4. Who is Esran? I assume you mean Esbern? I'd need to refresh myself on the main quest, but I believe Delphine gives you the Esbern quest. Have you checked with her?
  5. Please give us the mod name and version so we can see where the issue might originate from.
  6. You should have little to no trouble finding mods to enhance your experience. At least 3/4 of the daily mods posted here are related to female bodies and armors. Kinda sucks, really.
  7. I'll give you a detailed response later. Since you're using a laptop, you'll need to use the injector version of ENB or use the wrapper version with the HiAlgo OPTIMUS fix (there's a page for it here on the Nexus). That's why your FPS drops to single digits when you use ENB. It's reverting to your integrated GPU.
  8. Use Trade and Barter to make the economy more interesting. Use Apocalypse Magic, Better Magic, and Spell-Crafting to make your necromancer playstyle more interesting.
  9. Lord Garon, what kind of shadow fixes does your custom preset resolve? I've been looking to perfect my shadows (balancing quality and performance) and really struggle to do so via the vanilla settings.
  10. Make sure that you're using the Optimus Fix from HiAlgo if you're using a laptop.
  11. I think you would benefit most from SkyRe's additions to the archery perk tree, then. If you go with any thieving skills, I'd consider Stealth Skills Rebalanced, although I'm not sure of its compatibility with SkyRe.
  12. What type of character will you be playing? My suggestions will depend on that.
  13. Play the end of the Thieves Guild quests! Given how that part works, I'm sure it's possible to replicate it.
  14. Appreciate the very helpful advice. Given the downfalls, I'm considering an alternate route. Perhaps I could instead find a way to display the current cumulative Muffle magnitude somewhere? That would help eliminate some confusion and make players aware of whether or not they need various armors and perks. It still wouldn't work with Muffle effects added by other mods, but I could explicitly state that in the mod description. Plus, I'm not aware of many mods that touch Muffle besides SSR.
  15. I'm trying to do this myself for my first project, but it would be great if someone else could pick up on it. If you don't already know, the description for armors/boots with the Muffle enchantment is: "Wearer is muffled and moves silently." When I found out that the muffle enchantment has varying magnitudes for each item, I was annoyed that the values weren't visualized in the item descriptions like most of the other enchantments. So, for example, this mod would make the Shrouded Boots description: "Noise from movement is reduced 50%." I've tried achieving this effect myself using the <mag> attribute in the description, but it always shows a value of 0% since it rounds up the magnitude (.5).
  16. I'm facing a unique problem. I currently have two issues in Skyrim, both of which are remedied only by D3D9 injectors, and I'm not sure how to combine their effects. Micro-stutter: I've only found two fixes for this. One is disabling vSync, which is apparently a big no-no. The other is the FPS Limiter mod from the Nexus (D3D9.dll injector), although the setting that actually does the trick is not the FPS limit but setting the RenderAheadLimit=1. This seems to be the best fix as I haven't noticed any side effects. What I'm using: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34/? SMAA: I've recently made the transition to SMAA and won't be going back due to the massive performance increase and near-perfect quality. Unfortunately, this also requires a D3D9.dll injector:What I'm using: http://mrhaandi.blogspot.com/p/injectsmaa.html I know that with ENBs, you can simply set up a proxy in the ENB's .ini file and use two D3D9.dll files. However, I can't seem to apply this to the two injectors I'm using above. Is this even possible? Alternatively, I've heard (but am not quite sure) that most ENBs come prepackaged with SMAA. I don't necessarily want an ENB (performance-wise), but could I run an ENB with all features stripped besides SMAA and then point the proxy to the micro-stutter D3D9.dll fix, thus eliminating the stand-alone SMAA injector? I'm not great with the ins-and-outs of ENBs, so I'm also not sure if this is possible or if ENBs even come with SMAA. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
  17. Hi all! I'm playing on an old, ported save and squeezing the most life out of it that I can. I had to migrate my save over to a new installation and, due to an error with my backup process, had to re-install all mods. IMAGINATOR seems to be broken now (I can use the spell but not the MCM, and the spell is a pain to endure while testing), and I can't seem to fix the issue. MCM crashes anytime I try to change a setting. I loved the ability to alter graphical settings without a performance hit, and I'm wondering if any mods out there offer similar functionality. I haven't found one yet, but the community has helped me with requests like this before. I've recently discovered that I'm able to run ENBs (had to download a fix for my Optimus card), so that's certainly an option, but I'd prefer any performance-friendly options first. ENBs seem to be a pain to set up for me since I'm already using a DLL and DLL proxy to fix another issue.
  18. I've got: - i5-3230M 2.6GHz (turbo boost up to 3.2GHz) - nVidia GeForce GT 730M w/ 2GB VRAM - 4GB RAM I can run at 40+ FPS consistently on mostly Ultra (w/ some tweaks) with graphical mods installed. You should be fine.
  19. I've been trying to pinpoint my recent issues with "jitters" and stutters in my game in first-person. I've recorded this video to see if the community can help me identify the issue. I fear receiving the news that it is micro-stuttering since there is no known cure, but I'm not completely sure that I fit the symptoms. What say ye?
  20. Hi all, As the title implies, I'm experiencing varying amounts of jerkiness/jitters when looking up/down (sometimes I even get this faintly when looking left/right, but not often). This issue only happens in first person view (third person is fine). I can notice it heavily when looking at my character's arms/weapons. It's very annoying as I would prefer to play in first person. The issue is barely documented around the web, and all discussions wind up suggesting the same fixes as below which are not successful and are unrelated to the issue. This is NOT an FPS issue. I've played Skyrim smoothly on this machine before and maintain around 50FPS consistently. This problem persists even indoors (it's often worse in some interiors). Unsuccessful Remedies: Disabling mouse accelerationGraphics adjustments (tried with everything at minimum)Disabling vSyncAdjusting Windows' mouse settingsRe-installing SkyrimDisabling/uninstalling/deleting all mods/SKSE/entire Skyrim folder (playing 100% vanilla)Using another mouse or even game controllerSetting FPS limitWindowed mode
  21. No kidding? I was almost sure you could enchant better than that. I recall having robes on my Mage (after 100 enchanting and maybe a potion) that reached 27% reduction in *insert school*. I use Fortify Magicka instead of Fortify Magicka Regen, though, so perhaps that's what you're referring to.
  22. Yea, you should be fine. I've used NMM on each of my STEP installations. The warning is due to NMM's tendency to make updating/overwriting/etc. a bit too automated. Assuming you know how to bypass this and customize mod installations when needed, I would fully recommend using NMM as your mod manager during the STEP installation.
