  1. So my mousewheel zoom suddenly stopped working. I'm locked into a following view, as if I was zoomed out ~10-15 feet from my player. Everything else works as normal. I can pan around the character, the cameras follows (ie it's not locked in one direction) , mouse buttons stlll work. Anyone know how to interact with mouse settings? It's not evident in my earlier saves nor on a couple of other characters. Something got gummed up and although I've searched and searched for console commands that might alleviate it, I can't find anything. (or have missed something) I realize that I can open an old save and redo everything that got me to that point in the character development, but I leveled up five times in the "outdoors" while never doing a cell transition and would prefer not to have to do it all over. In addition, this happens from time to time, and wiping out hours of game play because the mousewheel goes south is getting rather old. it's not as if the mousewheel seized completely. It sill works in menus just fine. It still works outside the game just fine. Just not for zoom in skyrim for this save. thanks
  2. Hmm... Interesting. I'm such a newb that I run the game directly from the SKSE. Vortex stays up pretty much all the time. I don't use Vortex as a hub for bodyslide or starting the game or any other tools. (Ie, I haven't folded the operations into Vortex, aside from installing/un-installing mods.) I'm glad you discovered your problem.
  3. 276 on something or another (a sword or dagger, can't remember which...my ebony sword, unenchanted, has a damage rating of 264). That was with a level 52 character, 100 level smithing and every "vanilla" (no enhanced perks mods) smithing perk added, and a couple of additional mods that allow wearing multiple rings and necklaces, as well as all the smithing enhanced armor (orc gloves, a mask, and a crown of some sort) I own/ed. Also, I believe I had swilled down some Smithing potion. Unfortunately, the character save under which those smithing actions were taken is glitched by the 1.5.80 update, so I'm barely even starting my journey in smithing with my new, now level 25 character re: weapon degradation.... I recall seeing a mod that institutes weapon wear (sorry can't remember the name), ie, degradation with use/time on both weapons and armor. Is it possible that you installed that mod at some point?
  4. With the current version of skyrim (1.5.80) you can't use HDT. The author of the HTD framework and other HTD utility modules has closed the door on upgrading past 1.5.73 and moved to SMP So... Afaik you have two options 1) backpeddle to 1.5.73 *and install the HDT framework and a couple of other mods he/she provides on his/her Chinese website) or 2) convert to SMP (which apparently also means getting a framework for that Chinese website.... On #2, I looked but was unable to find any links that actually led to the SMP stuff, so I have gone back to normal physics and CBP/etc
  5. So....I'm wondering why the audio volume is so low. I have a ~SOA computer, and yet I have to push my volume to near max and the game volume to max in order to hear anything. (sound card is a Creative Labs ZXR), and outside of the game, when set to the same level as when playing Skyrim, you tube, winamp, and all other audio sources are so loud I have to turn it down to near zero (~10% of max for "normal" audio, ~95% for Skyrim only) Anyone have any ideas and/or solutions? I *have installed Lucidity Sound FX but am not sure if there are other fixes available that might help. Oh, and FTR, audio out was low even before I added a single mod to the game. Lucidity is in fact the 4th in over 200 mods I've applied since installing skyrim, installed in hopes of resolving that problem. edit: PS, one of the other problems with having to push the volume so far is that when at 90% or greater, system noise begins to intrude into the mix thanks in advance.
  6. At a guess, you'll need to use Bodyslide to re-size the armor to fit your character.
  7. AFAIK, that's a symptom of a corrupt save file. I ran into quite a few of those attempting to find a save that was usable after the 1.5.80 update process (including SKSE and all the mods that needed to be updated) You could try using fallrim re-saver to try to clear the errors, or at least some of the errors, but other than that.... idk Much as it's likely not what you're hoping for, I'd recommend that you try an older save until you find one that works (yeah I know, it sucks), or start a new game. FWIW, I started a new game and so far (level 24) have had significantly fewer issues with that game than the last one (level 52). PS. re: level 24 vs level 52... I was having problems (mysterious CTDs, fail to load for autosaves, etc) with the level 52 character before she was Level 24...), so I don't think it's level associated. The game is about playing, not debugging code and redoing tasks over and over due to unexpected game crashes.
  8. Sorry for the late response. I began a new character arc and have pretty much given up on the old character. The new one is working fine without any major glitches. (level 24, I've experienced two or three CTDs the entire time, whereas with the old character, I was experiencing them during every "play period", and more often than not, more than two or three during each period of play. (it got so that I was manually saving every every few minutes. Autosaves saved fine, but always crashed on load I'd also note that if I open one of the early saves for the old character, I can save load, etc without issue. I haven't found the demarcation line, but I just don't have time to do so... I just went back to a level 15 save that still "works" and she loaded fine, and subsequently, she saved fine. As well, on a couple, test plays, CTDs, while still more common than with the new character, are few and far between ( so it's likely that something got gummed up early on. I'm holding onto her saves right up to level 52, but I think the new character will be my vector for normal play from here out.
  9. Nope. I simply stopped using that character. I suppose deleting the saves would be "best" but I still l have lingering, delusional hopes that she's retrievable.
  10. I had that problem with an existing character under the new 1.5.80 version. Due primarily to other issues, I created a new character, and I was happy to see that issue vanish since playing under the new game. FWIW... Even if you don't want a new character (understandable imo, as a relatively new Skyrim player) , I'd recommend that you give it a try, just to check the associated save-load times if nothing else. (my new character is level 24 now, and he's not experiencing any issues that I experienced with the former character, including the frequency of CTDs, the frequency of gravity aborts that drop a load of animals or NPCs out of the sky, etc.) Don't get me wrong... I have/had a level-52 character, all the "goodies" that came with it, (homes, moolah, finished quests, etc) and a lot of time spent to get there, and I really didn't want to start all over. If I could resolve the issues I'd rather move on with that "vector", but so far, from my chasing the bug down countless rabbit holes, it seems that standard debug method is to load archived saves until you find one that works... or start a new game. I suppose if I was a highschool kid, maybe I'd have time to chase the rabbit, but I work for a living to pay my mortgage and other bills, taxes, and food. Time is too precious to spend it trying to fight code glitches.
  11. I experienced the same problem (or similar) with an existing player (level 52) after updating to 1.5.80. I started a new game and the problem went away. fwiw. Long waits (30-40 sec) when transitioning doorways (presumably cell shifts), long waits for "wait" and sleeping, and other delayed reactions to most operations. (even my inventory display was taking 10-15 seconds or more)
  12. Sunstarved - Tanlines for UUNP and CBBE - Racemenu Overlays - Special Edition https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/26795
  13. At a guess (based on my own similar experience a couple months ago), you need to download the adult version of the Amorous adventures. There's a tame one and one with explicit nudity and sex scenes. Check Lover's lab. I do not believe (though I could be wrong) that the "sexy" version is available on nexus. Start here: https://www.loverslab.com/forum/72-skyrim-special-edition/ Or this, which might get you closer to the download file: https://www.loverslab.com/search/?q=amorous&type=forums_topic&nodes=69 (You;ll have to figure out which one of the results is correct. Might be the "for lover's lab" version ... Not on my skyrim capable computer right now so I can't really say.) best of luck
  14. Well in the interim, I'd suggest starting a new game to wile away the time, or find something else to do (it *is summer all over the N hemisphere after all). So some good news... I can save with a new game, and you can likely do so as well. Since I can save with the new one and not with the old, it's clearly something to do with that particular player's vector/mods that were present before update, and those I had to disable due to incompatibility forward (none, and I mean none of that player's saves will result in a situation where I can successfully save, yet the new character saves just fine. I wonder if I was maybe carrying some glitch from early on in its adventure that finally just blew up. Oh well, only 40 or so levels to gain and I'll be at the same level. Kinda takes some of the fun out, since I know what to expect from all the quests I completed with the last character, but I'm sure I'll get over it. It's just a game after all.
  15. I cannot load any saved game following update to 1.5.80. That is, I can load an old game, and I can even play, but if I save, then load the save, I get "save corrupted" and although it doesn't immediately CTD, as soon as I acknowledge the message it goes back to the main menu. If I don't acknowledge the error immediately, I can watch as the game *appears to think it is in a freshly installed, vanilla state and busily installs every mod I've added since starting the game (or at least posts messages to that effect in the top left screen corner. Any ideas of how to proceed, short of "reinstall the game and start over" ? Forgive me if this is one of those "idiot" questions. I'm relatively new to skyrim and pretty poorly versed (ignorant, not stupid) in gaming and all the associated config/debug/etc minutia in general. Any help would be welcome. I have fallrim and SEEdit and a few other tools care of various forum posts, and have used them here and there but am still in the paint-by-numbers crowd, to give you an idea of where I am in this. Thanks
  16. When I sleep in game, upon waking (ie getting up after) after a short delay, my player is auto-relocated about a room away. Been going on for weeks and I'm not sure when or where it started but it's repeatable and never varies. I wake, a short delay (perhaps 10-20 seconds), and voosh, I'm lying on my side in the air "30 feet" away from the bed where I was sleeping.. In addition, when I enter the home I also get trans-located to the same spot where it relocates me after sleep (second floor of hearthfire lakeview manor fwiw) . That is, I walk in the front door, and voosh, I'm upstairs From what I've read, the standard debug for problems is "open an old save" followed by "start disabling mods", neither of which seems like the most productive method of debugging (although I can see a certain logic to it), since I used to debug industrial machinery, optical systems PCBs, etc for a living, and that was always a last gasp measure for an engineer. So I'm hoping that maybe there are those who have encountered this themselves and/or who have a less hit or miss approach to solving this and would be willing to share their methods/solutions. (for instance, I thought maybe some sort of "home position" might be involved...I have no real idea what that'd be but the consistent relocation point leads me to believe there's some sort of hardcoded XYZ value that's being triggered) Ideas? suggestions? It's not a game killer, but it is annoying. thanks,
  17. Safe? relatively. There's a list of mods that still need updates on Lover's Lab (probably others, it's just the one I stumbled across from another "Skyrim got updated" post), so if you're using one of those mods/components you may need to wait. Of course, it also includes a list of mods/components that *have been updated, so that might be of help too https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94228-sse-conversion-tracking-jun-15-3585-sexlab-updated-hdt-not-yet/?tab=comments#comment-2154459 best wishes
  18. I didn't realize it was that easy! I saw the play offline chocie but got the impression from the posts I'd read that there was some other setting involved before it was safe to use the play offline option. Thanks for the reply and solution. Much appreciated.
  19. It's probably been asked before, but I didn't see anything pinned, so I'm asking ?again? Background: I'm new to Skyrim (relatively speaking) and have only been playing for a couple of months, since I recently (Feb 2019) purchased a new computer that can run it. In addition, although I've played computer games on-and-off for almost 40 years, the level of this game, at least in terms of configuration, is unlike anything I dealt with before. (the last game that compares in even the slightest way is FFXI, which I last played back in 2012. FYI, The game was purchased from steam and is run from/through steam. So... I'm not exactly sure how to disable game autoupdate (nor for that matter) how to run skyrim offline. Can someone please spell it out for me? I opened steam and checked in there as best I could, but it's a maze and nothing stuck out as being a suitable selection for "disable auto-update. I either missed the setting, didn't look in the right menu or submenu for the setting, it's labeled differently than what I'd expect "disable game auto-updates", or something else. (I may just be as dumb as a pile of bricks...forgive me if that's the case) I don't "mind" waiting for all the updates to this newest version, but I'd rather not run into this situation again if I can help it (that is, game being potentially or actually unplayable while its constituent mods are in limbo due to a required update following the game update) . And according to quite few posts I've read due to the 1.5.80 game update, "disable game updates" seems to be the first and foremost protection against having to twiddle my thumbs or do a rollback I'm not terribly confident doing in the first place....Heck even adding mods is still a mysterious magical thing a this point in my skyrim journey, let alone rolling the game back after I dutifully updated a half dozen mods and SKSE following the failure to start following Bethesda's game update. Even updating SKSE overwrote at least a portion of the scripts folder...which I later learned is something that we also should not do, although I'm still not clear on the specifics) . thanks
  20. thumbincubation, Thanks for the reply. Ah... So that's what the "you can sleep here tonight", "you can work here" thing is. I read a few posts on the mod prior to installing, and as a result was leery about pursuing the outdoor directives due to all the people complaining about patrolling and attacking other followers the steward, guards, as well as my initial misunderstanding that it was an "either or", ie, you can assign one and only one of those options, instead of what you've clarified, ie, you can assign the home, AND the place they sleep, and the area they can work. I'll give it another shot. thanks
  21. I built Lakeview manor and installed My Home is Your Home so I could assign home to followers. Now they never go outside, except when we go on quests/hunting/etc. It'd be nice to increase their roaming range to the outlines of my compound rather than the interior walls of the house itself, so that my interactions at home weren't always confined to interior space. If I could do so via console, I would, but I either lack the skills/knowledge (I've only been playing Skyrim for about a month, and my console skills are limited) or it's not done that way. I don't know if this is a practical idea or not. But if it is, it'd be a great addition, so that followers could take advantage of something more than fighting for a seat at the dining room table
