  1. It must be hard, maybe impossible to do beyond a LooksMenu preset. Other things have been ported over, but not companions.

A shame, because some Skyrim followers were vastly superior to anything in FO4. I'd pay real money for "Vilja in the Commonwealth". But only if the original voice actor did it.

the voice part shouldn't be too difficult if you are good with editing the voice files

There is a Bioshock Elizabeth companion mod which uses voice from the game (not allowed on nexus though)

  2. I don't know .....

I haven't done much "advanced stuff" with PS yet, just starting to learn the basics ...

(PS is easy to use? Well, if you say so ... I am still trying to get used to it. Maybe after using it for a few more months I'll get "used to it" ...)

    sry

I've been using PS since around 2008 because of photography. I do admit that the learning curve for PS is quite steep.

Also the FemaleBody_d.dds file i've been trying to edit is from this mod:

    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20218

still weird that the nvidia plugin would mess up the texture file after saving since it has worked before when I changed a texture file for an outfit mod

  3. This is a basic tutorial about retexturing:

    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/37112?tab=files

I don't think that "skin textures" are any different to other textures ...

You don't need to edit the normal and spec. textures if you don't want to ...

That's strange because that's pretty much what I did when I saved the _d.dds file and yet it showed up all black in game and bodyslide

Is PaintNet as powerful and easy to use as PS?

All i want to do is use the Lasso tool and select the part of the texture and then change the brightness

  4. I was reading some article on a pc hardware news site earlier about RBG LED Ram sticks and ssds and it suddenly hits me.

Why aren't there any RBG LEDs on any of the armor and clothing mods? or at least I haven't seen any.

I actually want to add RBG LED effects to the textures of some of the existing mods ranging from Power Armors to underwear :D

I have modified existing textures before but how do I add glowing effect to an existing texture?

I was thinking of something like this:

    http://led-clothing.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1424221380f5a194cc3041382020f1f2/d/s/dsc08902.jpg

    and this:

  5.

Unlike unique named NPCs, settlers are loaded from templates, so, changing a specific settler's face means changing the template, which makes every copy of that settler sharing the same template, share the same face.

yeah I am aware of that because some of the settlers spawned have the exact same faces but maybe there is a mod out there that give them unique ids so they could all be edited in game using looksmenu

  6. is there a mod that allows you to change the appearance of the unnamed settlers that doesn't conflict with Better Settlers?

I already have the 3DNPC mod that adds some 30 custom voiced settlers but that still leaves hundreds of unnamed settlers that I have in all the settlements

  7. Well the thing is ctd always occurs at certain specific area and Mass Pike Interchange is one of them.

The papyrus logs I have uploaded belong to the same problem that lead to ctd because I saved the game right at the edge of the zone that causes the crash.

I have even made a compatibility patch for every single mod using FO4Edit so there shouldn't be any conflict between the mods and yet ctd occurs whenever my character get too close to Mass Pike Interchange, Nahant/Croup manor and Jamaica Plain.

There is also the area between Red Rocket and Concorde, entering Concorde from either Red Rocket or Abernathy Farm would cause ctd but I have found this one to be caused by Beantown Interiors and hoping whenever the next update whenever it will be will fix the problem.

  8. There is some info here, as well as comments that might be helpful to find the optimal number.

    hmm still not exactly accurate.

I have gtx 1080 8gb Vram + 16RAM by his logic i should be able to set the vram value to 18000 when playing the game at 1080p Ultra

but that's what screwed the textures up for me.

It's fine now after I changed the value down to 8000 the same number as the Vram of my gpu without adding RAM

  9. I got following lines just before the game crashed to the desktop:

    [ (00162585)].BCF_WorkbenchScript.::remote_Actor_OnPlayerLoadGame() - "C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts\source\User\BCF_WorkbenchScript.psc" Line 86

Does this mean that the "WastelandImports\WI_PerkDispenser.psc" is the the cause of the ctd?
It happened at Mass Pike Interchange, my character was standing at the top of the elevated highways

    EDIT:
luckily I saved right before the previous CTD and launched the game again at the exactly same spot.
As expected the game crashed again if I tried to get closer to the area where the elevated highways crossing the road below and got a new papyrus log.
It seems they both contain the same lines:

    [ (FF00CA94)].ObjectReference.Enable() - "<native>" Line ?
    [ (00162585)].BCF_WorkbenchScript.ResetFlicker() - "C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts\source\User\BCF_WorkbenchScript.psc" Line 110

What is strange is I don't even have the game installed on C:
Its installed on a SSD on F:

  10. "At first I play them a 4k resolution but at some point I move them to a computer that has a 3440X1440 screen. I continue playing them until the i7 8700k can no longer handle the content."

at 4K or even 1440p isn't the GPU usually the bottleneck?

also why does this game require the 8700K at higher levels? I mean sure there are more crap in the save file but aren't they usually handled by the GPU?

  11. It is a vram issue, but an odd one. Civ5 would do the same thing, but with black instead of blue. Exit, restart would go away for a while, but eventually come back. As if memory was slowly being eaten away.

In civ, as you went around the map, you could see it draw in each hex, but some would be black for the terrain. zoom in, wait a bit, and it would draw the tile. Zoom out, and it comes back in other areas. That's a memory issue. Since the blue clears up as you get closer and the game redraws the terrain (zoom in scope doesn't look like it's redrawing, just zooming in on what's already there)

Just like the black face bug in SLI. sometimes full black, sometime partial mesh draw.

not much you can do about it, update drivers etc. Has to be fixed game side/driver side.

(fixed my sli issues by just getting a newer vid card though)

If you have mods that add meshes/textures, try taking those out and see if that helps, turn down settings, yada yada. standard stuff.

If this is happening in pure vanilla, I'd post it to the bethesda forums.

Edit: My issue persists. The only thing that will fix it will be a new video card, I think. My R7 260X is just too old and weak, now. Next card will be a RX 480 4GB (8GB is too expensive here).

I've tried all the .ini edits, using ENBoost, and nothing works. Googling my issue and it's not a very common one - rainbow textures are far more common but, I don't get those. I'd glady trade for that problem, though

    Â

Edit 2: Meanwhile 3 months later, I have a new monitor and video card (MSI RX 480 8GB) and the problem is still there. It can't be a ram or vram issue (I have 16GB in my system and 8 GB on the card). My card never goes over 60C so it's not overheating and there's ample cooling inside my case.

Been trying to fix this stupid thing myself - blue is a mesh issue, right? You'd think extracting all the meshes (or just landscape) from the ba2 would fix it, maybe even all the landscape materials as well, but no. I'm sure if I extract all ba2's it'll still be there.

It's only this game that I've had this annoyance. Very few people have it (Google "fallout 4 blue terrain" and there's only a couple of results that aren't rainbow textures. Plus there's no fix.

    Edit 3:

Looks like I might have eradicated it, at last. Had several long gaming sessions where I had to go into interiors and back out (which is when it happened, when the world loaded).

What has so far fixed it for me is Vivid AIO. I'd used parts of it before but now I use everything. Well, except some trees that FO4 Seasons overwrites (so I can have leaves).

So it looks as if Vivid fixed it. Hopefully it stays away for good this time

(Edited without bumping for anyone who comes here from Google like I did).

I dont think it has anything to do with vram

I have gtx 1080 and still get that glitch

and I doubt upgrading to 2x gtx 1080 Ti would solve the problem.

This game is stupid and if Vault 76 uses the same engine then I will never buy that crap

  12. There are mods that are able to break the vanilla companions.

It is wellknown that the Mechanist companion mod breaks Piper's dialogue (read the comment section of that mod) and makes it impossible to talk to her so I suspect that you have a similar mod in your load order that broke Cait

  13. Thank you for your reply!

I have been learning to use FO4Edit to solve mod conflicts and so far have gone through half of my load order.

It's actually quite easy after watching a few very informative videos on Youtube uploaded by some very helpful individuals.

    Kudos to them!

People have complained about that the GTA Online community consists mostly of teenage trolls but it seems this one is like the opposite...
