  1. Core temp should be fine. You could try: http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/ as well... -------- The only i can thing off, is: 1) Case too small, so some modifications should be made. 2) Αppropriate thermal compound not correctly applied. Take a look here: http://www.overclock.net/a/evga-hadron-air-chassis-tips-compatibility-guide
  2. > Are they threading for 8 cores or is this going to be Skyrim all over again? < I can't tell you anything about this, because it's again the forum rules. !!! However i tell you, you will be suprised if you see the munu options from Fallout 4. Fallout 4 will have a respectful amount of options. !!! --------- You shouldn't worry about your bought processor, as the performance (as games concerns) of an i7-4790 vs i5-4690K is marginal. !!! One thing to add, Fallout 4 uses a revamped Creation Engine, so i guess the higher the CPU the better the overall performance. (we talking about ultra settings here.) If you wanna crank the resolution up and play at ultra, an i7 is very recommended on Fallout 4. I don't say anymore, just be patient, and you will see it soon enough.
  3. I don't know if it's allowed to post mods in that section so i wil PM you...
  4. Yeah, the game has very high rec. req. As long as it runs at steady 30fps it shouldn't be a problem i guess...
  5. I forgot you are in Canada, so my fault. However, i mean this one: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusviiihero Test: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7276/asus-rog-maximus-viii-hero-intel-z170-motherboard-review/index.html
  6. As you build a new rig form scratch, i would go for an Skylake-S and DDR4 memory modules as well. Just not on that socket. ------ I thing something similar to this, would do the trick just fine...and would cost you much cheaper. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/chMxzy
  7. You you wanna make you own mods, nothing better that this tutorial from GOPHER THE WITCHER 3: Beginner's Guide to Making Mods
  8. I guess you should be fine. Your GPU exceeds the rec. req. but your CPU is a little behind. That means your will get lower frame-rates with your GTX 980 on a particular resolution, in contrast if you had a faster processor. But that's all. I thing you will be able to max out Fallout 4, but I'm not sure how much frame-rates you will get, if you switch all your settings to ultra. !!!
  9. For the Witcher 3 your GPU is way below the min. req. The only solution for not lagging, is to lower even more your resolution. Sorry for that. !!!
  10. Aware that your GPU doesn't meet the min. req. Also that particular model with the 4GB frame buffer does not benefit this GPU in any way and so that feature is more or less useless. I would say on lower resolutions it may be playable, and thanks to your very fast CPU.
  11. You can download it from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42642
  12. It's an PCI Express 2.0. Those newer PCI Express 3.0 GPUs are backwards compatible with PCI Express 2.0. So, you will not encounter any problems. You can check that yourself at: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4666#sp See under: Expansion Slots
  13. Actually if it wasn't Skyrim, a better CPU will get you some fps more. However, in this case your i5 is more that OK, but your GPU is a bit slow. As other people mentioned above, this time you should change your GPU. This time, your lower frame-rates are because your GPU. (however, even 35-40fps are pretty fine with an GTX 660Ti)
  14. Your i3 just beats the min. req. Yout GPU is more powerful than that. It's ~35% lower than the rec. req. You could tweak the game and you should be able to play at 1600x900 (medium settings) with reasonable frame-rates. -------------- Don't rely on the min. req., and go higher if you can. Especialy on newer games as TW3, Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront and so on... btw, what's you budget ???
  15. You may wanna be sure that each stick has the same cas latency, timings and voltage. You can tweak these settings in the BIOS to make the two sticks match. You’d have mess around with it, and probably underclock at least one of your DIMMs in the process (if they have different speeds) However, there is no guarantee it would work. !!! As mixing only RAM speed with all the other specs the same, most probably your mobo will automatically underclock the faster, and you wouldn’t run into any problems. And again there is no guarantee it will functioning, and at worse you may get a BSOD. (let's say if your DIMMS don’t like each other)
  16. Should i ask why you wanna go with an LGA 2011-v3 mobo and not with an LGA1151 ??? You would get the same overall performance if you get a lower priced Skylake-S processor and not an 8 core (16 thread) processor.
  17. I would try first without mods, and see if a get a steady 60fps experience. If not, something else is the cause. !!!
  18. Hello! I assume it's an i7-4790. (there is no i7-4990, probably a typo) This perticular CPU doesn't need upgrade as it is fast enough already. The GTX 970 is a fast high end GPU and an alternative would be the Ati R9 390. However your mobo supports only Intel CPUs, so i would stick with the processor you already have. Your PSU should be enough (a better one would not harm), as you are at a estimated 330 Watt usage. Another 8GB ram would be beneficial in the long run for newer games. (Even 8GB is mostly enough for the majority of the games) Your HDD is alright for now. You can invest on a SSD later on...
