so im going to reiterate my problem, and hope for an answer. my character has a graphical effect on her face. it is two shiny patches just below her eyes. they appear to be a lingering spell effect, though i have no spells active. 'dispelall" in console does not fix it. removing all gear does not fix it. changing face or eyes with showracemenu doesnt fix it. changing race with "setrace" does fix it temporarily, but it returns as soon as i enter first person mode. older saves i load do not have this problem, nor do they gain it if i enter first person mode. disabling nearly all of my mods does not remove the problem. once it is fixed with setrace, any loaded game which had this problem ever will restore the problem. casting spells which produce this eye effect does not work. casting other graphical effects which ought to overwrite it does not work. disabling all face/eye/warpaint/hair mods doesnt work. disabling 90% of mods doesnt work, and besides, new games with the same mod list dont do it. i would very much like to not have to start a new game. if anyone knows what is causing this, and how to remedy it, please tell me. even the barest suggestion would be very much appreciated, as it might lead me to the right answer.

i think you have the problem well in hand. basically, it is the graphical effect applied to the eyes when casting certain "detection" spells im neither a khajit nor a vampire. as far as affecting eyes, i doubt thats the cause, because loading old games doesnt have the problem, nor do new characters. i believe it happened by trying to cast nighteye while ethereal, or something like that. =/ ill try changing things with the console. see if that works. EDIT: so i do setrace darkelf, and then setrace highelf. boom! it works! and then i notice that it came back. after some experimentation, i found out what brought it back. being in first-person mode does it =/ any ideas as to why? and what might be responsible? saving the game with no eye glowy doesnt help; it comes back when i load >_< further update: old saves do not acquire this problem, that i can see. it occurred for my character recently-ish - within the last two levels - but whatever is causing it i cant find. ive tried loading with half of my mods disabled, and it doesnt help.

title says it all. my character has the eye-glowy effect from nighteye permanently. casting nighteye again doesnt change it. the nighteye effect itself comes and goes with each cast, but the eye glow lasts forever. cant seem to get rid of it. any ideas? :C

i just today acquired this problem. my game crashes instantly when i try to cast SOME bound weapons. bound sword is a crash, but bound battleaxe is not. all other conjuration spells work normally. this problem came out of nowhere. i used the spell yesterday without error. i tried disabling all the mods i installed or updated today. it didnt help. i have made no alterations to my .ini files in weeks to months. certainly not within the last 24 hours to cause this problem to occur and heres the best part: i have NONE of the mods listed by the above poster installed. not a single one. it is not a mod conflict. i tried removing the spells and re-adding them. nothing. turns out, there are at least three prids for Bound Sword in my game. all cause crashes.

so due to Deadly Dragons, Ghorza gro-Balog, the smith of Markarth, is dead. this is very sad. i liked her. i liked her so much, in fact, that i decided to resurrect her. i cast such a spell on her, and she got up and started looting bodies. Great! i thought. Ghorza is back. but now shes gone again. so i opened the console help ghorza returns one RID for an npc. typing "Enable xxx" produced an error. "Recyclenpc xxx" produced an error. "placeatme xxx" doesnt produce an error, but nothing happens. "resurrect xxx" produced an error. "disable xxx" produced an error. in most cases, it said "xxx" was nod a valid modifier or integer or something. but thats her Reference ID. without the body, i cant click, and "placeatme" yields no body anywhere that i can see, though it doesnt tell me that it didnt work either . . . help bring ghorza back!

only suggestion i can make is that modifiers in skyrim sometimes compound. that is, if you have 2 different mods that modify some variable x3, you wont get x3, or x6, but x9. that might be part of it. some script might initialize and modify mana cost. wouldnt know how to find it, and ive never had a problem even close to this one. thats just all i could think of, im hardly a specialist >_<

too bad. the mod definitely had potential. last time i used it, it was terrifically buggy, and i mentioned those bugs that i encountered. for this, i was accused of trolling, so i just left the chat. trolling is not pointing out errors. trolling is provocation to argument. im sorry the mod author gave up; if i thought his endeavor was impossible, i would never have made any recommendations of any kind. id like to know how one is expected to fix a mistake they arent aware of. its a darn shame were never going to get this mod in full working condition. hopefully, someone will attempt something of this kind again, and soon. they will be more likely to succeed with the benefit of all we have learned about the CK.

HUZZAH! i got it. it was connected to the texture optimizer i was using, and related to its failure. it was CAUSED by its failure. the reason i couldnt save to the folders was because the file i was trying to save FROM was being read by the optimizer, which though i had closed, left an operation running. the optimizer's coder apologized this morning for "debugging at 5am" and posted a new one. i couldnt install the new one because the files it was trying to replace were in use. so i ended the tasks, and loaded up the PSD. now i have successfully produced a .dds from it, and i will proceed to install the new optimizer. thanks everyone for your help! =D

Win7 EDIT: giving it access to 100% of the ram didnt fix the problem either. still, its base setting was almost 2gb, which ought to be enough.

the first response was correct, i was trying to save to a read-only folder. i didnt make it read-only, it just become that way one day. in fact, EVERY folder is. and i cant disable it. disabling it, the next time i click properties, it is re-enabled. this is apparently a much bigger problem than just photoshop. this might explain why the texture optimizer i ran yesterday failed to change a single texture, and produced weird results. anyone know how to ACTUALLY change folder settings? i cant seem to do it by, yknow . . . changing folder settings. EDIT: reinstalling didnt do anything either :C

so yesterday, i was modifying textures with my Photoshop contentedly. they worked in-game, and no problem was found. today, phtoshop will not under any circumstances allow me to save to DDS. every single attempt - and there have been dozens - crashes the program. saving from a PSD failed. merging all layers failed. copying merged layer onto a DDS, merging and saving fails. not merging fails. hell, loading a DDS, and attempting to save without modifying it fails. i know this isnt technically a skyrim problem, but i KNOW photoshop gets a ton of workout from the modding community, and i am using it to mod skyrim in my limited capacity. can anyone help me so i can get back to tattooing my character? :C EDIT: in failing to save, it generates a hell of a lot of .temp files. deleting them didnt help.

i have mods installed right now that add some spell times to the crafting windows. all are called "Mysterious Tome" and grant a spell. spell names include Shadow Form, Enrage, Soulfire and Barrage. anyone know what mod this is? xD

this one is surprising. its simple: opening a map inside an interior cell causes the game to crash instantly. no error message is given. not even a "bing". Skyrim just goes away. maps in the outside world is no problem. any ideas anyone? :C EDIT: found the cause. a single mod was doing it. very sad, as it provided my character with facial piercings. however, for the time being it is disabled.

ok, so i know that BOSS 2.0 is incompatible with WB. as my BOSS doesnt work properly when run from WB, i concluded this is what happened. it cant be. at present, WB is not installed on my computer, and i installed the most recent BOSS i could find - uploaded march 27th. running BOSS, and then running SKSE_loader directly, without even running NMM, BOSS produces no change whatsoever in the load order. i sought help on the BOSS chat, but moderators have locked it for no discernible reason. so i seek help here. i do not care how i need to do it, but someone PLEASE post the links to get the REAL BOSS 2.0, and give my instruction how to set it up and run it properly, as apparently im ignorant of this. my game is totally broken by imcorrect load order, and i cant change it. NMM doesnt allow me to make any alterations whatsoever, and WB doesnt keep any changes. BOSS doesnt do anything at all, apparently. so i cant play until someone explains to me wtf is wrong, and how to fix it.

yeah, tried that. but as i said, there are like 6 draugr factions, all with different IDs, and none of them seemed to work.

ok, this is maybe impossible. first of all, we dont actually know that its a faction problem. it seems to be, until you attempt a solution. the RID you have above i cant find. its certainly not MY RID for draugr faction. i have 5 or 6 draugr factions in fact. i tried player.addfact xxxx -1, and while it reported no errors, the draugr still dont attack me. i tried the same with skeleton faction. nothing. then i tried PRID on a draugr that seemed neutral, and i removed him from the "player ally" faction. tried -1, -3 and -4. nothing. any suggestions? =/

title says it all. i posted this in the tech support forum, but because i run a modded game, i wont even get a response. anyhoo, i noticed yesterday: creatures native to cairns and ruins just dont attack me. in fact, they perform no scripted actions whatsoever. draugr dont attack, rats dont run, they all just sit at their spawn points or wander aimlessly, over ledges and into walls. if i attack, they sometimes respond, and sometimes run away. heres the REALLY weird stuff: 1: other characters dont have this problem, though they have the same mods loaded. 2: clean save did nothing. 3: removed all mods did nothing 4: reinstalling mods did nothing. 5: spending 30 days in qasmoke did nothing. 6: BOSS does nothing. 7: rebuilding Bashed Patch does nothing 8: installing with only a few of the creature-based mods does nothing. spent literally 8 hours running tests on all the different configurations other than the ruins, most creatures arent affected. bandits attack as normal, animals attack, and even most residents of dwemer ruins attack, although some just rudely bump into me, and dont actually swing. if anyone has the slightest idea what causes this, or better yet, how ti fix it, id be most grateful. its kinda destroying immersion to see dragr walking around, staring at me while i ransack their ancient homes for disenchanting fodder.

UPDATE 3: cleansave didnt work. so to abbreviate, i have somewhere a modified value that is: 1: not a base game file, because not all characters have it. 2: not located in the save, because cleansave did not expunge it. 3: not located in any mod, because loading without mods doesnt fix it. so it does not exist. and yet, the bug. impossible.

UPDATE 2: seems to be related, but some creatures are hostile, but cannot actually attack. the just stand in front of me, or follow. also, creatures which are not attacking me do not appear on the compass.

UPDATE: loading an old save from another character does not have this problem. i tested with Bleak Falls barrow: first character enters, and is attacked by rats and draugr on sight. other character is not. both have the same mods loaded. what could be doing this? more importantly, how do i FIX it?
