  1. until you upgrade your CPU, keep shadow settings to the minimum. avoid all mods that add HD textures (especially the HD DLC) as these will kill your performance. cap your frame rate at 30 fps to get smoother gameplay. avoid any mod that requires you to add the line bUseCominedObjects=0 to your fallout4.ini as this will destroy your frame rate in built up areas. in general, large overhaul mods are likely to make your game stutter or lag at times.
  2. the BoS and Institute only care about their own mission goals and care nothing for the people who live in the Commonwealth. both are evil. even the Nuka World Raiders are better than the BoS or Institute as they are only degenerate, they aren't practicing genocide.
  3. the problem for me is the amount of trash and litter that would be impossible after 200 years. most of the trees are dead yet there are leaves everywhere. leaves decay within a year or two, so why haven't the leaves in Boston. and the amount of paper and other biodegradable rubbish in the streets. why hasn't that degraded after 200 years of extreme weather. I think Bethesda missed a trick though. trash and rubbish would be a major resource. in settlements it would be collected and sorted. what couldn't be recycled would be burnt as fuel. outside of settlements, the trash would be collected by scavengers, but these would have to pay protection to the raiders who controlled that area. I'd imagine it to look something like waste pickers in the 3rd World but with raiders wandering around making sure that no-one kept anything valuable. Nuka World is almost there socially; raiders with scavenger/trader slaves doing all the work. Fallout 3 and 4 don't feel as if 200 years has passed since the war. they feel as if only a few decades have passed at most. Bethesda could have made the imagery fit logically into the game world by making the events take place closer to the end of the war. the technology would be exactly the same for 20 years after the bombs as it is for 200 years.
  4. I'd recommend getting Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE) and launching the game through that to avoid the fallout4launcher.exe which can mess up mod settings. if you don't want to use F4SE, create a shortcut to the fallout4.exe and start the game from that to bypass the fallout4launcher.exe this guide might help have a read of this as well before you start adding any mods. it will make your life a lot easier in the long run and it will make problems less likely to occur as well as making them easier to fix.
  5. not just the anims, the models with parts in the wrong place required the amins to be incorrect. I find it difficult to fathom why they let that slide. surely they have pictures of real weapons they could look at while making the models. getting off that soapbox and changing topic a bit, I was watching some videos about the good old Lee Enfield and why it is so fast, and the guy who made the video has converted his SMLE into what he calls "Frankenrifle". a .303 with an AK magazine. it's like a mashup of the handmade rifle and the hunting rifle. this isn't a request or anything, I just thought you might like to take a look at it.
  6. if someone makes this they should add in a strength check and if you fail you have to pick the revolver up after the recoil jumps it out of your hands.
  7. there isn't a lot of difference between those and a Sten. I was told that the mechanism of a Sten is basically 2 pipes and a spring, so it fits the in game description pretty well.
  8. you could make it for your own personal use as long as you don't upload it anywhere. look for a tutorial for texture swaps. as it is for personal use only, you could download a mod of wall posters and change the images in that as it is a little easier than building a mod from the ground up. you never know, you might find you get the bug for modding once you see something you made in the game ;)
  9. just a heads up. a great alternative to scrap dead things is corpse cleaner. you can scrap bodies and robots and even turrets anywhere and get extra scrap (just be sure to loot them first). best thing is it doesn't need workshop mode so you can tidy up after battles anywhere.
  10. I've been following this project on tenterhooks, but I haven't seen much about pipe weapons. with that in mind, something like these would be great.
  11. get better settlers and they turn up with guns and assorted armour pieces. you can also put weapons in your workshop and settlers will take weapons from there if they is something better than what they have equipped.
  12. great news :) really looking forward to this
  13. it still is, you must have set filters then forgotten :p
  14. agreed but Zenimax only has the money to think about and they have shareholders who care only about return on investment. what happens when the return on investment for the Creation Club isn't as high as projected because people are getting the free Chinese Stealth Suit from the Nexus instead of buying the Creation Club version?
  15. you would need to make them from scratch. they can't be ported and it is highly unlikely that Take Two are going to give permission for their assets to be used in a Fallout 4 mod when they won't let modders use GTA V assets in a GTA V mod.
  16. he's tried that and it doesn't work. the only fix he has so far is quitting and reloading.
  17. if you are making the model, how about something in the Steam Punk style? I have also always thought that the short hunting rifle without a stock would make a great looking pistol.
  18. he can't share it as he doesn't have permission from Capcom.
  19. After only as little as 30 minutes? Strong union. if you insist but in this case the union is also telling you they want a better working environment fixed that for you :p
  20. a 4GB video card is plenty big enough. especially with the 16GB he's got on his MoBo. LOOT is a good start but it puts files in the wrong place, still. you still need to check it against specific instructions on mod pages (scrap everything is the oft quoted example) and then make changes. by the time you've done all that you could have sorted it manually by grouping like with like and following one of the load order tutorials (such as Gambit's guide shown here)
  21. because most music is under copyright, it can't be uploaded in a mod, but if you want something specific, there are ways to do it. PipPOD lets you add up to 50 songs on it's own radio station. Mix Tapes lets you put your music onto ingame holotapes. there are 3 holotapes that can each have up to 30 songs on them you will need an mp3 to wav converter. I recommend Free Convert MP3 to Wav by 4Dots. if you convert all the mp3s in one go you can use the normalalizer to set them all at the same volume. personally, I set them at the lowest bitrate and mono to save space as I only listen to the radios and don't listen on the pipboy and there is no point in them being stereo if they are played in the game from a single sound source. if you listen on the pipboy you will want them stereo. if you choose PipPOD, I also recommend Reneer's Radio Mod which lets you change the station on the radios around the Commonwealth to the PipPOD station so you hear your music coming from settlements as you wander around. there are not many modern radio stations as the music needs to be copyright free to be uploaded in a mod. Boston Pirate Radio adds a Raider radio station. Nine Inch Nails Radio adds a NIN radio station of royalty free NIN songs because Trent Reznor is a Legend and put his work up for people to use free of charge. Existence also adds a new station with original music you might find something you like in one of the Old World Radio Boston series of mods
  22. raider overhaul can cause lag spikes. not sure what is causing the CTD
  23. we've got ESO so FOO isn't totally out of the question. if you are free to follow any path, raiders, and even supermutants, could be joinable factions. you could camp out along a trade route and ambush caravans. lots of potential. the only problem is that VATS would be difficult in an online game (unless time didn't slow while vats was in use, so it would act more like an auto aim toggle. it would still need shots to be targeted and confirmed, so it would be slower to get shots off which may balance it out in PvP)
  24. NorthlandDiggers Resources - Animals - Landscape - Garden and more... has decorative plants and flowers for gardens, as well as a load of other really useful stuff have a look at the user posted images for some pictures of finished gardens
  25. a lot of those are in Vanilla Extensions. part of the same series of mods is Stairs Ladders and Ramps, by the same creator, which has the concrete ramps and concrete half walls to match (as well as wood and metal stair and ramp sets) if you get VE you will need The Master Plan as well and you will see links to all the other mods that use TMP on that page.
