  1. i'd say enermax, built more towards the future. reading the reviews, seems higher quality as well. multi vs single rail, only real difference is more filtering on multi rails and a single rail has to absorb the entire systems load instead of being split. oh, and single rails are cheaper to manufacture (less parts). you can google multi rail vs single rail for more info, a lot of hype towards single rails mostly from manufacturers because they are cheaper to build than multi= profit the more people they can get to believe that they're somehow better. simple example if you don't want to research...would you plug 8 appliances into a single outlet w/ 1 fuse/breaker? or split them among several outlets and different fuses/breakers?
  2. doesn't help anyone if steam servers go offline with no forewarning due circumstances beyond valves control. or you losing the internet for some reason. *sigh*
  3. In the 21st century, women have more opportunity than ever to take part in war. The British military personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 is 391. How is it that only two of those casualties are women? Bullets and bombs don't discriminate, so the only possible explanation is that female soldiers don't want to be on the front line near the danger. Neither do men, but they do it anyway, because it's their duty. So, please have some more respect for the men that have given up their lives in defence of our countries. Don't make any more remarks implying that men are sexist or oppressive for trying to shield women from the barbarity of war, now or at any time in history. 1) read the blue, since you obviously skipped that 2)don't tell me what to do, how to think, or how to act over your misperceptions or over sensitivity to things i did not say nor even imply concerning a timeframe i never even hinted at (21st century) 3)in case you still don't get it i was referring to the dark/middle ages the age of plate armor bullets and bombs don't apply women were treated as 2nd or 3rd class citizens back then, even as property. they did not fight, had little to no input in what men did. times have changed thankfully and that's no longer the case. but you getting all bent over something you didn't read properly in the first place doesn't help anything. fyi, had a couple of girlfriends that were in the military, respected them as i respect all other women...you really effing jumped and started barking up the wrong tree. and that ticks me off. you should get your prejudice under control, save you from making similar mistakes in the future.
  4. there were arguments about that? O.O the age of plate armor was dominated by males...women were 2nd, 3rd class citizens. they didn't fight, were told not to fight, and only in rare verging on unique instance did they fight. a little history should have stuffed any argument before it started. and if plate had been made for women, it would have done it as simply as possible. larger chest but no individual cups. basically male versions beaten out in the chest to provide a bit more room.
  5. rather see hair and cloth physics first, 'boob' physics wouldn't...or at least shouldn't even apply in most of the armors in game. steel, glass, daedric, dwemer, etc wouldn't jiggle. leather a little, chain a bit more, cloth...well a lot. great mod though, and great work
  6. you should really research and get your facts straight before accusing others. below is a build i threw together in about 10 minutes, it would run skyrim most likely at ultra, and with added hd texture and ini tweaks for shadows and water map size improvements. the system Total $474.92 add MS windows 7 home premium 64-bit $574.91 uh...yeah...good gaming rig is soooo expensive. while it might have to reduce some settings for made for pc games, console ports it wouldn't have a problem
  7. toast was hilarious, thanks for that ;D
  8. People? Different views on certain things don't make you right or the other person right... they are opinions. Stop pushing your views as the be-all-see-all of what is right and wrong with steam. Life lesson? Are you honestly that self-righteous to think that just because your opinions differ then mine, I need to be taught a LIFE LESSON because I enjoy steam and use it every day? I never ONCE said that people have no reason to hate steam. I completely understand where SOME people are coming from in regards to some of the issues set forth on this subject... My beef is with the people that are simply hating steam to hate steam. I enjoy steam's service. Bethesda is going to patch the game with or without steam... so blaming steam for the terrible patches is LOLworthy because all steam does is provide a content delivery system for the publisher. To think that steam had ANYTHING to do with the broken patches (minus delivering them to you) is simply WRONG. That isn't an opinion, which is why I can honestly say you are WRONG to think that. Unlike stating opinions and telling my mine are invalid because they differ from yours... I'm telling you how it is. Steam didn't release 1.2... Bethesda did. typical, you ignored what you didn't want to see, said beth and steam, steam released a sneak drm patch prior to beths 1.2, read everything. Along with... every other game that's been released by major publishers in the past 5 years? Is steam really the bad-guy in this situation... or is the idea of DRM as a whole, the bad idea? You are poking a dead horse and calling it a frog with this one. DRM isn't steam's problem... it's corporate greed that's the problem. Once again, not steam. I won't even comment on how you think I'm "deluded"... silly child. not every game in the last 5 years...and resorting to insults? this 'child' is 46, sooo, unless you're in your 60's, 70's don't think so. I could go on and on and on... but it seems like I'm getting the same from everyone here. Personally attacking someone's character because they have a different opinion from you... welcome to the internet I guess. Trolls will be trolls. ah yes, anyone who doesn't agree with your viewpoint or presents valid points that conflict with how you think things are is a troll...ludicrous for several reasons, main one being...a troll...on this site? they have a life expectancy about that of a gnat. another, common tactic call them a troll when someones just had their well thought out points rebutted...at least they thought they were ironclad. same with 'e-feelings' attempt to make legitimate points seem irrational because people had their feelings hurt. finally, i didn't see you refute anything with facts..partially my fault i believe as i gave the conclusions but not the methodology. remove something suspect from the equation as if it never existed then re-evaluate from that perspective. in this case steam. if it never existed, things would actually be better in the gaming world. games and pc's don't need it at all to function. so it's simply a parasite. does nothing useful, attaches itself to useful or at least entertaining software, and can be detrimental at times. that's known as a parasite. heh. one more in the parasite analysis, if the host software is cut off from the main body off the parasite (steam servers), it ceases to function. steam is a parasite, people have legitimate reasons for hating parasites.
  9. ya, seriously...some people make me O.o life lesson>just because you like something doesn't make it good automatically, your decision making ability shouldn't be set in stone once you like something. to defend it at all costs as if your survival depends on you being right in what you like, that it must be perfect because you like it. it's a company, it's out to make a profit, like drug companies, car companies, or other software companies. if steam didn't exist, this debate wouldn't, things broken by steams inclusion in games wouldn't have occurred, that's the most telling thing. steam/valve did nothing to stop piracy, only made legitimate users suffer...if they didn't exist, never had existed...things would have been much better.
  10. love that :) he missed one thing though, that fat useless security guard won't prevent that car from getting stolen right off the lot...he ends up bound, blind-folded, gagged and tossed in the trunk by thieves who never have to deal with him again. while people who actually bought the car have to deal with everything quoted.
  11. love that ^_^ zero punctuation? @ 'pc's are too expensive :psyduck: ' decent gaming rig less than $500, avg xbox $200 ($160-$255) avg ps3 $225 ($190-$275) so yea...consoles are cheaper...but save a little and you could have something 100x better. that isn't so limited in what it can do and can be upgraded. caveat, if you build it yourself...which is easy. but some clearance sales open box, etc, i've seen through newegg, , decent systems for under $500...so the pc is too expensive argument only flies if the people who use consoles can't do math or don't have the patience to save for something better...another reason to go PC~~> free calculator on every pc OS they might use >.> (PC's don't have anything to help with patience)
  12. should work, amd quad phenom 9600 BE myself and the game runs at 1080p max settings fine (no AA, just don't like it). 2.3GHz stock mild OC to 2.4GHz. edit: game ini tweaks: tree and landscape self shadows, 1024 water maps card gt 430 1GB (ha $30 card on sale when i bought it) stock gpu core 700MHz, oc 825MHz
  13. first off open world mmo's, gothic 3 and 4, and two worlds series...beth isn't the only open world developer. destructible enviroments? i want, and easier than you think to do. doesn't require animating everything breaking apart that's console, early 2000 tech. modern=create an engine that fractures and creates separate models on impact, simple gouges created with dx11 decal tessellation. no need to completely detail every break point before hand, just let the engine and scripts do it, physics handles the rest. and no, consoles wouldn't be able to run it at all. none of it is complicated, but all of it would be or would not work at all on consoles considering that's beth's target audience. that's the limiting factor 'will it run on consoles' and OP is right, skyrim is not nextgen anything, not based on ancient tech. and beth will never produce a nextgen game with their tunnel vision securely on consoles. but...$200 for a game? not bloody likely. regret $60 on skyrim, should have waited a year, cheaper, tons of mods, modders patching everything beth breaks, stable engine...maybe stable :\ as to speech recog...too expensive and time consuming, voice actors for every possibility of what character might say or ask O.O and for different accents, languages...audio and recog files would be the largest part of the game. more destructable> landscape torn up by earthquake, volcano, tornado, hurricanes, rockslides, flash floods, blizzards, giant rampaging zombie bunnies...whatever. also somewhat irritating how fireproof skyrim is, thatch doesn't burn, wood doesn't burn, houses don't burn, trees laugh at lightening and fireballs, multi-ton dragons slamming into them, etc. like another slap in the face about how little you effect the world of nirn. not even the landscape pays any attention to you...or anything else. meh...i'll stop...everytime i start thinking of what the game could have been...considering all the hype and years in development...and what it is... the only nextgen...is the modders and what they have done and will do to the game.
  14. thanks for that, never even heard of gog before, and ya, way better than what came after...lost the original somewhere down the years, now i have it again :)
  15. would like it...but as a perk, and only allowed one shot at a time for precision (crippling/criticals) aiming. reason>reloading a bow shifts aim and the target moves, so any shots after the first would not hit their target. it's not like a firearm where you just squeeze the trigger and deal with recoil
  16. i seconth thish, and npc's a-ffacted too (enough drunk speak ^_^)...sitting in a bar all day has got to have consequences, staggering, blurred vision, random pick-ups (did that nord just leave with that argonian? :O )...a few bar fights fists, bar stools, chairs, and tables as weapons....have to wait for ck i reckon, as well as a knock unconscious mod. edit: nord bars/pubs should be rowdier, vanilla they're like a pta bruncheon, for a country in the middle of a civil war, all kinds of prejudices floating about, all in an enclosed space with unwashed, drinking, opinionated and generally belligerent types...there should be more action.
  17. companies only learn when pushed into it, otherwise they'll continue to be lazy, produce poor products, and have generally low to zero QC/QA. if no one complains then to them, they're doing fine, no reason to improve. same with fans who ignore flaws in a product or make excuses for them, easier to listen to people who tell you you're great and perfect than people who tell you you're doin' it wrong.
  18. modders will fix it, probably with AI modules added in to her routine similar to tavern or jarl's slave wenches. when told to wait she'll start cleaning or preparing food...at the least sit somewhere else to eat her stinky leeks. maybe even change into a nice maids outfit O.O no sense wearing all that heavy armor if you're just hanging out at home in a well guarded town.
  19. it's 'you're' and 'persist' i was a grammer nazi...then took an arrow to the...well...you know the story ^_^
  20. after reading through this...starting to wonder if bethesda has hired people for damage management...or just a deluge of fanboys. some replies to the various 'points' made within this thread. morrowind had depth, options, choices skyrim lacks they should be self evident to any except the most deluded. 'you can't compare skyrim to morrowind' bull****, sequels are compared against their predecessors, movies, games, books...everywhere. the other ironic thing about the above statement is same person compares skyrim to morrowind to try and say how much better skyrim is. rose tinted glasses? hardly. i base my judgment solely on a games merits, if that game is a sequel then that is also relevant as to how it compares to it's predecessors. by itself negs> buggy game engine, low res, bad port, bad UI, bad patching, ambiguous statements from bethesda, hype that didn't pan out, caters to the lowest common denominator, horrible AI, mobs can't jump, mobs can't swim, children immortal, companions that do nothing in the players home, broken quests, physics that look at times to have been programmed by a 3 year olds idea of how the world works, cities/towns that seem underpopulated, lack of variety in enemies, grouping weapons in 1 or 2 handed catagories, small grimoire of spell choices, npc's don't react to who you are, what you've done, or what titles you might have...unless you're a criminal, npc's wanting to kill you over tableware. by itself pos> expansive, great art work/landscaping work, perk tree, smithing...can never fault beth's artists...sometimes i think that's all they have there and one poor programmer doing all the coding work no matter what credits say. just based on it's own merits the negs outweigh the positives...now compared to previous TES games... lack of depth, lack of weapon choices lack of skill paths, reduced armor choices (torso is it), enchanting reduced and made nonsensical given this is the same world morrowind and oblivion took place, lack of spell crafting, laziness on beth's part not wanting to make a specific skeleton for beast races with attachment points for armor and weapons. as well as specific armors for those skeletons. flight, open cities not rose colored in the slightest...though even that statement is typical 'wearing rose colored glasses' <~an attempt, albeit feeble to cast doubt upon those that have issues with skyrim as if they're deluding themselves or living in the past. reality is, skyrim doesn't even stand on it's own figurative feet with it's issues...so the only people who wear the glasses are the fanboys who ignore all the issues the game has as if it's the most perfect thing since pre-sliced cheese. it's not...not even close edit: i knew i'd think of more negs...rebranding gamebryo calling it 'creation engine', designing a game for ancient tech and being too lazy to advance it for modern pc's and finally climbing into bed with steam. thought that last is partly personal, it's still a neg however as is any extra process (when every readme you'll ever see says 'kill nonessential background process for better game performance') and the DRM is fail as well as trashing some mods. so steam being completely useless isn't accurate since it effects performance and customization, it's a negative.
  21. release, buggy, 1.1 a few fixed, sneak update by steam broke some things, 1.2 broke more things, 1.3 still breaking things...and they have YET to fix broken quests...something the modders did for esbern. bethesda is getting lazy and it shows, fallout nv unplayable on launch...the hype over radiant, their new bug stomping system...which the last updates have shown fails miserably. fanboys is accurate...to defend something ignoring all it's flaws. i'm sure you fanboys would want your PC to have that many bugs...or your OS, how quick would you jump all over MS or have already for XP, win7, winME or vista? all 1000x+ more complex than skyrim yet...they managed to function. service packs improved them rather than beths versions which break things. would you want bethesda making an OS? making your car? your PC? face reality skyrim didn't even deserve to be nominated. 'but you have to expect bugs in a game as big as skyrim' no, and you sure as **** don't have to expect drm or updates to break more things. it's shoddy, it's lazy and you wouldn't accept that kind of service from anything else you pay for in life. so why does bethesda get a free pass for making buggy software? wonder how many of you fanboys bash on IE...it at least works. if you criticize anything especially other software then bethesda shouldn't be ignored...otherwise you're just hypocrites.
  22. http://www.nodiatis.com/pub/3.jpg http://www.wizards.com/magic/images/whatcolor_isblue.jpg don't get the blue when i never chose to deceive in any of the answers, bit biased and nonsensical equating logic with deceit. being logical the first thing you realize is that manipulation and deception are wastes of time and energy considering both will eventually fail. internet personality quizes :wallbash:
  23. Skyrim doesn't deserve goty, 1000 bugs, glitches, snafus, broken quests, hype that was nothing but vapor, etc, etc, etc. Shouldn't have even been nominated imo, no bug ridden game should ever be nominated. It's like saying 'well you did your best you couldn't help it if there were problems' bethesda could have helped it though. if skyrim wins anything it will just continue to make bethesda think it's ok to be lazy, it's ok to put out buggy software, it's ok to fail, it's ok to take peoples money and give them BS hype, promises, and several slaps in he face with patches that break even more things. never could understand the fanboy/girl mentality...takes a level o ignoring reality i'm just not capable of i guess
  24. background processes and clock speeds then. there's also a thread in tech support of system lock ups that mostly concern ati cards, you may have a smidgen of that as well, not enough to cause the full lock up but enough to effect performance. ya, smiden not exactly tech speak...but then again skyrim at times seems held together with voodoo, duct tape and wishful thinking on some system configs. gratz on your future 750, would definitely add another 4 GB if you have the funds, may not help much with skyrim, but any future games it would. hmm, any OSD for clock speeds, gpu/cpu usage, sys ram, vram and pf usage while you're playing could give you clues to what may be happening.
  25. never underestimate the power of an arrow to the knee, it can topple kingdoms, change weather patterns, and even make the dragon born mispronounce...'FUS DO *thwack* OW @#%* #*@' not a power to be taken lightly :armscrossed:
