  1. Funnily enough, I always used the method DrakeTheDragon described, even on the old layout. I don't know why, for some reason, it made more sense to me that way.
  2. I feel really sorry for you, twowolves80. Only a very tiny fraction of the people you reply to (and newcomers to the thread for that matter) seem to actually bother to read your replies. It's like trying to get a bunch of mischievous kittens to stay put... Don't worry, I read them though! Edit: I find the fact that what we just posted have almost the same gist extremely amusing. :D 1. The way I see it, those who have no desire to use the forums to complain about the new design, most likely don't have a problem with it in the first place. They just come, get their mods, and go. 2 & 3. Since they have nothing to contribute, I guess they don't really have any major issues or things that they would like to be added/improved. Otherwise, they're free to post any constructive criticism they want. 4. Then I guess these people aren't paying enough attention. No posts here get "mocked". It's just that a lot of people aren't aware that the new design is here to stay. They come here and just say that they would like the old design back, without leaving any constructive criticism whatsoever. These same 2-4 people are just trying to let them know that if they have nothing constructive to say, then they shouldn't really be posting here, as that makes Kit's job more difficult. Also, the function of this site will be able to be used on a mobile device once Vortex is released. That was literally the entire point of the redesign.
  3. So I just took the time to read through all the posts in this thread, and it seems very clear to me that many of the people here do not bother to read any of the previous posts. They simply come here, say they would like the old design back, and leave. That is probably the single biggest problem on the internet - people do not bother to read stuff that they really should. It's the exact same problem with people who don't read mod descriptions, and then go to the page and whine about the mod not working, when it would have worked just fine if they had spent a couple of minutes beforehand to read through the description. It would be really nice if people would pay attention to the fact that the old design is not coming back, wouldn't it? If only... Personally, I like the look of the new design. I believe it looks cleaner and showcases mods better than the old one did. However, I realise this is entirely subjective. I mostly use the site to find new mods, so the "New Today" and "More Trending" tabs are a godsend for me. As far as I'm aware, the functionality to see more trending mods on the front page was not present on the old design, so I find myself taking a look at more mods than I did before. Also, I find that the larger images tend to draw my attention more. Again, this is entirely subjective though, and I can see that a lot of people would probably disagree, in the same way that I disagree with the person who said that the posts tab on mod pages seems "cold" and "barren", whereas it used to be "warm" and "homely" in the old design (D'oh, should have taken note of the page that post was on!). Please define "cold", "barren", "warm" and "homely". These are completely subjective terms based entirely on the likes and dislikes of that person, so they should be left out of a thread meant to provide objective constructive feedback. In my opinion, one of the biggest issues in the new design (that is present in the old one as well) is the unused space at the sides of the screen. It would really reduce the amount of scrolling needed if it was stretched out to match my monitor's resolution, or if certain elements (such as site news) were moved to the side, as others have suggested already. Other than that, I don't really have any big problems with the new design. Obviously, there's still a couple of bugs here and there, but taking the time to read the posts in this thread has reminded me of the fact that the current focus of the staff is on Vortex, so they will all be addressed in due time. TL; DR: Good work on the redesign, I would like to see it continue to evolve. Also, I'm incredibly excited about Vortex!
  4. Alright, I installed Windows 10 and restored all of my backed up games. Up to this point everything appears to be working correctly. The only "problem" I have (it isn't really a problem) is that my games don't show up in Windows as being installed, but Steam recognises them just fine. Nexus Mod Manager does complain a bit about Skyrim and Fallout 4 (it shows all my Skyrim mods as disabled, and is insisting that I let it reinstall all my Fallout 4 mods), but both games seem to work. Its not a big problem, I'll get around to fixing it when I start new characters and want to change my installed mods. Fallout 3 and New Vegas seem to be completely unaffected by this, all my mods show up as installed. All in all I guess everything is fine. VlitS, I can't thank you enough! I would still be worried about upgrading if it wasn't for you! Thanks a lot man! I couldn't have done it without you!
  5. Well, it's a bit late to change my mind on upgrading rather than doing a clean install since I've already copied around 100 GB worth of game files to my external hard drive. And that's just my steamapps folder. That doesn't include Battlefield 4, which is 70 GB (holy s#*!, that's more than GTA V!) on its own, settings and saves for some games (most of them are already backed up on my Dropbox already), and my Nexus Mod Manager mods folder. Anyway, a lot of residual files and other junk has collected on my hard drive over time, so I think a clean installation of Windows is a pretty good idea. Speaking of Nexus Mod Manager, I'm confused as to what copying my Skyrim and Fallout 4 folders actually does with my mods. Aren't the mods supposed to be in the virtual install folder of each game, which is linked to the game folder through symlinks? Are the mods actually copied onto my hard drive, or do they just appear to have been copied?
  6. Alright, thanks! I'm gonna get started now and I'll get back to you when Windows 10 is installed. It's my first time installing a new operating system (my uncle built my PC for me) so hopefully I don't mess anything up! Wish me luck!
  7. Thanks a ton, I was considering doing a clean install of Windows at some point anyway! :D By the way, do you have any idea of how to backup Origin games? Considering my download speed, I don't think I would like to download Battlefield 4 again.
  8. I've been thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 for a while, and I think now I'm ready to do it. However, I was concerned if the upgrade could potentially screw up my mod configurations in Skyrim and Fallout 4. I have quite a lot of mods for both games, and I do not want to spend my precious time re-installing them all and fixing the inevitable CTDs. Should I make backups of the two games before upgrading, or is it ok to upgrade without worrying about anything being screwed up? I would also appreciate it if anyone knows any other preparations that I should do before upgrading. All I did up to this point is uninstall some programs that I don't use anymore. Thanks in advance!
  9. I have no idea why Bethesda left the save restriction in. I personally hate that feature. The thing about survival mode, is that you want to be immersed. I do not find having to repeat the last hour of gameplay particularly immersive, I find it annoying, tedious and boring. There's also not being able to fast travel, which is a death sentence when sometimes you can't really be bothered to walk all the way from one side of the map to the other, you just want to skip all that s#*! and actually play the game. Finally, there's minor annoyances such as different types of beds allowing you to sleep for different amounts of time. If you're exhausted from fighting for your life and scavenging the entire day in the apocalypse, would you really wake up after sleeping in a sleeping bag for three hours? I don't think you would care what you're sleeping on, you would just sleep until you don't feel tired anymore. Thankfully, I can just easily disable most of this stuff with the many excellent mods that have been made for survival mode.
