Dubnoman
I put down Skyrim about 4-5 months ago. I decided to pick up the game again recently and want to start a new game. I updated some mods, including a few that are script based. I use NMM. I uninstalled old versions of the mods and installed the new versions. I'm going to start a new game, but I remember reading somewhere that someone said if you uninstall several or many mods and plan to start a new game, you should reinstall Skyrim just to be safe. Should I do that? Should I take the time to reinstall Skyrim and then install all my mods again just to be safe? Or is that not necessary?
Jeir
If you're starting a new game, then there's no need to reinstall Skyrim if you're certain that all the files from the uninstalled mods are gone.
Dubnoman
If you're starting a new game, then there's no need to reinstall Skyrim if you're certain that all the files from the uninstalled mods are gone. I used NMM. I have some mods with scripts, like convenient horses. For example, with convenient horses, I had version 4.5 installed and I wanted version 4.6, so I downloaded version 4.6, uninstalled version 4.5 on NMM, and then installed version 4.6. I uninstalled (old versions) or some other script based mods (via NMM) and then installed the new versions via NMM. I probably dealt with no more than five script based mods (uninstall old version and install new version). Should I be fine? Also, did I update to new versions of mods correctly? Or did I end up doing it wrong?
Jeir
I tend to update mods without uninstalling older versions (unless, of course, the mod author says that the old versions must be removed), and I have yet to have issues. ^_^Assuming NMM is better at uninstalling mods now than it was in earlier versions (I wont use it, so I wouldn't know), you should be fine. Georgiegril
Mods like Convenient horses include very specific instructions about updating, removal, etc. That information is there to help you avoid script-related problems.Any time you decide to update any mod, or remove any mod, re-rereading everything the mod author provides may save your game.
