A mod this size would take more than just a couple of people to get done. There needs to be a team if anyone is still on board with this idea. I'd offer up voice acting if it would help any.

An update to my mod did add in some of the things discussed in this thread, thanks to sLoPpYdOtBiGhOlE. He created a system that would allow recruited students to do different daily schedules in the school, & even do random things like skip school & go exploring outside instead, etc. For modders that can look at how he did it, this may be useful in creating scripts/AI that has kids or spouses do random things like visiting cities, or exploring, etc. as was mentioned earlier in this thread. There is also a new mod out called Dovahkinder Complete that incorporates almost all the available child outfits into a single mod that makes them all additions instead of replacers. Skyrim Child Overhaul is also now available as a resource & could be used as a base to make a complete child overhaul mod that includes beast race children that aren't based on the adult female body, like most of the current child overhaul mods are.

So how's it coming along? Still working on it? I love Skyrim but heartfire is so bad and lacking that I feel a mod like this is almost a necessity

The current version of my mod allows you to send any adoptable NPC children to boarding school, including all the popular elf & beast race adoptable children mods (up to 6 males & six females). I'm holding off on doing anything else to my mod until the remastered version comes out, & then we'll see.

 I would love this so much! Adoption is very shallow at this point. I want to take them with me! Shopping, camping, going to different cities, maybe adventures at some point? Maybe they'll get interested in certain skills? "Mom, I want to learn how to make potions!" Instead of telling them to go pointlessly sweep the floors, maybe they could practice stuff? Make them sad when I'm gone for a long time? Read them stories?! GAH! With all the follower related mods that exist, I'm surprised no one's had a stable concept like this. :psyduck:

This is a good idea--soooo good, its like, should have been mentioned by now someone says "yeah I'll get working on that now"--or something like this. It has been since October 19 2016 and so far, not much mention. I created an account just to give my thumbs up on this idea.

Somebody super-super needs to do this.

If only I knew how to make plugins like this...

Hearthfire isn't very good and it really does need a tremendous amount of attention to make it worth the money spent... sadly... I hope to see this entire idea become a reality one day.

Thank you.

Yeah, it almost seems like modders don't even read these forums. They're all too busy making huge mods that will never release or get canceled. Same thing with some good looking games but get canceled cuz of bs reasons
